Guest Reviews
- Pavlo (3/5): -
- martin (3/5): Probably will never stay there again - It was close to where I was visiting First of all it was dirty When we opened the refrigerator there were containers of moldy food in there. Mold in the refrigerator something was spilled in there. Never cleaned out. Secondly the faucet on the sink was very loose and moving around when you tried to use it. The rug was very stained and dirty There was a smell in the room had to have A/C very cold as to not smell it. Although on a good note the bed was very comfortable
- Anna (10/5): My sisters and my self enjoy staying at your establishments. Again I can’t say enough about Becky she truly is amazing. - Becky is amazing and a joy to be around. I enjoy breakfast with her. Nothing. It’s perfect.
- Monique (9/5): -

- Pechar-Babcock (1/5): Bates Motel is nicer!!! - Nothing Self checkin did not work for all members of our family & no management on site to help. Couldn’t get in rooms. 2 family members left after trying to contact help for 2 hours. Mildew smelling rooms and no hot water for shower.
- Gerard (9/5): Only problem was toilet didn’t flush no biggie I fixed the flapper chain myself -
- Young (9/5): -
- Jennifer (1/5): I would rather stay at the Bates motel than here! - Nothing. Other than the fact I had a place to sleep, this was a horrible experience. I have pictures I can share. But the place was filthy. I even called asking about early check in and they said they would charge an extra $25 in order to properly clean the room. The fan had huge clumps of dust and spiderwebs hanging off the blades, the room smelled of mildew/mold/water. The hot water went out so we couldn’t take a shower or properly wash our hands. They offered to send us to another location to shower but we just wanted to get the he’ll out of there. We saw no staff the whole time, the emergency number, no one responded in the evening when we needed them. The ceiling had a hole and their fix was to shove toilet paper in it. The tv remote was held together by tape so the batteries kept failing out. I hated my stay here.
- Khan (6/5): -
- Muna (7/5): - would have appreciated an iron in the room No iron in the room
- Mark (5/5): -
- Patricia C (8/5): -
- James (2/5): - It was close to where we needed to be and was inexpensive. Nothing has been updated since Nixon was in office. Everything was very old and worn down. And the neighbors two doors down spent a couple of hours yelling at each other nothing nights.
- Tantillo (9/5): The Managment and Staff are acomadating and friendly - I booked a room online late on a Friday afternoon using self check-in. Conveniently parked in front of my very clean room. It was omfortable with all the amenities, including great coffee and muffens in the motel lobby every morning. N/A
- SUSAN (8/5): - This was a stopover for me and was great for the purpose. I am impressed with the fact that the hot water came immediately and was very hot. Great for a shower- and hand washing. The place was clean and cared for though showing its age around the edges. The place was easy to find.
- Jodie (4/5): Do not recommend, overpriced! - Location Dirty
Room smelled of smoke and cat urine
Blinds missing
Found a air of pants in one of the drawers
- Julie (1/5): We didn’t stay. We left. - Location We couldn’t stay here. It was pretty sketchy. It smelled bad, was run-down, and there was a suspicious looking stain on the bedspread. We walked it, looked around, and said nope! I could not imagine laying down on the bed, much less with the lights off. I didn’t even set my bag down. We chose to drive 3 hours home at 11:30pm over staying here.
- Thomas (10/5): - I was on a motorcycle trip ... I got there mid morning ... hours ahead of check in time. I was saturated from traveling on motorcycle through mountain areas in a very heavy storm. The manager moved me to a different room to let me go in early and get out of the rain, which was very much appreciated.
- Jenkins (8/5): -
- James (2/5): - This place was a dump, completely run down!
- Mary (8/5): - Room was lovely! Comfy bed! But, your exterior needs a speuce up!
- Alexander (10/5): - VERY comfortable beds. Clean room, friendly staff.
- Kaminski (6/5): Convenient - Nearest to Margaretville The room was clean but run down. Could use some updating
- Star (1/5): Bad - Location Room smelled like sewer and mold. Sheets were questionable. Towels had wholes in them.
- Lorell (5/5): Passable -
- Barry (4/5): Never again. - Looks like nothing has been replaced in 50 years. Numerous tile in bathroom missing, tub had some strange discoloration we refused to use it. The soap given was so small barely able to wash with it.
Furniture all marked up looked like something others threw out.
Never again.
Continental breakfast looked like it was old food- refused to touch it.
- Paul (10/5): - All was comfortable
- Sueellen (10/5): Very pleasant - Clean and when we had issues owner Becky took care of things. She did say she was going to refund our stay due to water issues
- Kathryn (7/5): Good -
- Jose (10/5): - I5 workedcwell for what was needed
- Ara (8/5): Very good -
- Denis (2/5): Its nice for location, that's about it. Could be a nice place if owner took care of it. - Beds were comfortable and TV worked. Toilet was leaning 15degrees to the side, floors are sinking throughout the motel room, tiles are falling down, remote control was held up with tape, breakfast in the morning provided no spoons for cereal.
- Doyle (8/5): A good getaway - Location is great for golf and ski resort and nice small towns near by I could not find the breakfast. I found the office, but wasn't sure where the lobby was
- Randi (6/5): - This room would have been fine for a night, but we had booked it for four, and we just found it inadequate for that long a stay. The damaged furniture and lack of places to put things (no closet, no counter next to the sink) just made the whole thing clumsy. As this was a work trip for us, we needed outlets near the desk and for both of us to use the wifi at the same time, but the outlets were across the room, and if one of us signed into the wifi, it bumped the other one off the service. It was just the wrong hotel for us. The proprietor refunded our payment for the subsequent three nights, which we appreciated very much.
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Barbara (10/5): - Aged but adequate for a one nightstay
- Richard (5/5): Worked for what I needed. - Easy to find. Package store right across the street. Quick food / bar within a couple miles. I got what I paid for and expected pricewise. Noisy at night being right off the road. No cups for water OR coffee. Air conditioner didn't seem to want to cooperate and never turned on, so the ceiling fan was all the cooling available (could open the window but all I heard was traffic flying by churning up the rain water.)
- Peter (3/5): beware - Not much seedy,no on-site mgmt.Bathroom had about 1/3 roll of TP so we had to call someone who was 25 minutes away who sent someone with 1 roll 1/2 an hour later(10:45 at night).Soap was the size of a quarter so no showers for us.Couldn't leave soon enough
- Gregg (4/5): not worth the price paid - The room was dirty and had an odd smell. Everything was worn and falling apart. This would be fine if the cost was not so high. Not worth the price paid.
- Grace (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kathryn (2/5): A bit sketchy - The beds were fine. The sheets seemed clean. The shower diverter needs repair, hardly any water comes out of shower head, most still flows from the tub faucet. Many missing tiles. The carpet was very dirty. There was a large stain on the love seat.
- John (8/5): - Clean room
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (8/5): I enjoyed my stay, most likely will again. - I liked the location, wasn’t far from where I needed to travel to. Heat was great too. There was only 4 stations on the tv, unless the guide button was wrong. Thought there could have been more.
I did bring along a laptop and discs to watch.
Didn’t know of breakfast til I left.
Military discount available?
- Edyta (10/5): - Close to store

- Dennis (8/5): Met our needs -
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Can hear the room next door way too clearly…. I think it was a crack head in the next room
- Khorev (7/5): It was OK - It was quiet little be unusual, when you don't see staff
- John (10/5): - We have come back to this motel again and gain for skiing!
- Chris (10/5): excellent place to stay - This was my second time staying here. I needed to sleep one night - very close to Bellayre Mountain. If you need a place to sleep - I recommend staying here. The only place to eat dinner on Monday/Tuesday is Ming Moon's Chinese. I looked on the iphone maps app for food. All the places I found were closed until Wednesday/Thursday/Friday. I did not want to travel too far to get dinner. Other then that, no issues with the hotel. Free wifi is provided.
- Chris (10/5): Excellent Motel -- Not expensive - The motel is fine, the room, the bed, the heating system, the bathroom, has a mini refrigerator, I had no problems. I styed there one night 2/10/2025 - 2/11/2025. Approximately 13 miles from Belleayre. All I needed was a place to sleep for the night and this worked out perfectly. I would stay here again
- Kevin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chris (2/5): - No clean.
- Aaron (10/5): Great value for the price point. Friendly staff. - It’s very clean. The price point makes it an excellent value. I was able to turn the heat up for the night and make it very cozy. Super friendly and helpful staff. Felt comfortable all night. Would definitely stay again when passing through. Hot water takes a while to get to the room. Could use some tlc and updating of floors both structurally and aesthetically. Continental breakfast is rather lack luster.
- Vera (1/5): The last time I stayed there, the room was OK, this time whatever made me cough was so concerning that I won’t go back - It was close to Belleayre mountain The room had a smell to it and it made me
Cough while I was in it. Maybe it was from the old carpet?
- Jakob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Nice motel in a central location - motel staff went above and beyond. I needed a hair dryer which did not come in the room and the staff went out of their way and had one at my room within a short time.
- Dorota (10/5): Exceptional -

- Stacy (7/5): Good -
- Stacy (7/5): Good -
- Bradley (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charles (9/5): Couldn't be better - Good coffee. Nice assortment of breakfast items I have no complaints or criticism. As a place to overnight in comfort at a bargain price MM can't be beat
(Maybe more variety on tv channels, but I didn't come to watch tv)
- Asa (10/5): Great place! - The place was great value and very convenient. I received a call after I left an item behind, very helpful. It should be noted that no one was at the office when I arrived but I was sent an email with a code for my room.
- Christopher (10/5): The marvelous Margaretville Motel - The Margaretville Motel was a delIght. Simple, Clean and comfortable with a great view. Good central location in the Catskill Mountains and quite safe. No complaints
- Andrew (1/5): It was so bad that I complained to the manager and she refunded all of our money for our stay. - What breakfast? Almost everything.
- Bianca (2/5): Very poor -
- Bruce (7/5): Good -
- David (3/5): Meh. It’s a motel. - Easy access. Rooms smelled like mold/mildew. No iron. Floor felt like it was caving in. Mold on shower curtain, did not feel cleanly.
- Craig (2/5): - This place has no staff available, The rooms are disgusting, the mold in the bathroom was everywhere. The floor around the tub was peeling up and the rotten wood underneath was showing.
We tried to sit out on the front porch in the evening, but there are literally THOUSANDS of spiders that have taken up residence and drop on you.
This place should be burned to the ground and started over.
- Lisa (4/5): - the property is very old. then they tell u they will leave breakfast emenities. they left 2 boxes of cereal. no milk or anything.
the tiles are falling off in the bathroom.
chain on the door ripped off.the tiles on the ceiling are screwed over the bed.i was hoping it wasnt gonna rain cause i was afraid i would have been leaked on. i would not recommend thia to anyone. and actualy i would like my money refunded..
- Mann (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (6/5): - Front desk very helpful with a question I had before checking in
- L8194QIjoanm (2/5): SHARED OUR ROOM WITH A BUNCH OF MICE!! - Rented this motel (Room 3) Aug 18, 19, & 20. Nice and clean when we got there. Had a mini fridge, microwave, table and a chair. No breakfast like listed...juice and a small milk in fridge, coffee pot on table that had to be scrubbed before using. Got everything situated, bread and buns on the table, not much room for anything else. Got up next morning and fixed coffee and assumed was coffee grounds on table. Next day same thing only, MICE had gotten into our food on the table, had to throw bread, buns etc away. What appeared to be coffee grounds on table turned out to be MOUSE POOP all over. I don't share with mice and told them I wanted a refund..... lol like that will happen. I hope the Health Dept closes her down.. what a pig pen and charging $79 + per night.
- Daniel (6/5): Quaint but disappointing - Our overnight stay was at best semi-comfortable and overpriced for the room.
The room was musty on entry. Tile was missing on the bathroom walls and there was mold on the tub. The brights side was the shower was hot and bed was comfortable. The view from outside was pleasant. There was no office or anyone available to assist a guest. I’m being very generous to rate my stay at 3 stars
- David (9/5): We will surely be back - It was only hour to catskills mountains and waterfalls and an hour to Bethel woods concert venue worth the drive. The town is quiet a store right beside it for gas drinks ect. was overall great and well worth the price. The cost was more then fair and only 1hr 45min to Massachusetts border. Could have used a couple more juices and something more then a granola bar
- Jim (10/5): Good value - Location Nothing
- stephengO7195PH (10/5): Best place to stay in Margaretville NY - on a day trip to Margaretville for spending 1 night I only had the choice of staying in room eight which was $25 more than the other motel rooms but when I walked in, it was worth it it had a kitchenette. The room was clean tidy, had an a/c and heating split unit and it had breakfast stuff (as you’ll see in the photos). The newly updated look compared to the online look is great and would highly recommend trying it out. Yes it was a milk a couple juices, some pre packaged pastries, and small cereals but perfect for a one-nights stay , I would even be perfect for a weekend but we enjoyed the room and appreciated the cleanliness and kitchenette so we could cook for ourselves. The room is in walking distance since of a bowling alley that serves food, A restaurant, and the gas station if you don’t want to drive into town. So if you’re staying at the Margaretville motel and want a step above a basic room , room 8 is the room to choose.
- mariah (2/5): - We didn't actually stay because we went elsewhere. I could deal with the decrepit state of the room, furniture, carpet, bathroom, etc. even the smell. just can't stay in a room with a filthy toilet. There I draw the line. Plus the whole atmosphere was creepy. Save yourself the time and money.
- Anthony (3/5): Not worth the money - Staying dry from the rain The bathroom was dirty hair on the walls of the shower, blood on the door or poop. The Tv was so small you had to sit on the end of the bed to see it, no remote for it had to push the buttons on it to change the channel or do the volume and the microwave was dirty had to clean it before using. Pillow had a funny smell to them p bedding
- james (2/5): - I am not one to give bad reviews to businesses. I'd rather keep quiet and mind my business but my experience with this motel was terrible to be quiet.
The appearance was quite neat but in reality the bedsheets smelt like it was not washed. I had a terrible allergy reaction on my skin that made me sit up all night long. I had to go my car to sleep. They need to rip off the dirty carpets. The smell was aweful.
- Nikita (4/5): Disappointing - Was able to access the room with code provided on the email. Very good instructions. Noisy tenants from the room next door. Wasn't able to fall asleep because of them. The motel was empty, could have had a room further away from the other tenants.
- CARL H (8/5): - N/a
