Guest Reviews
- Brenda (8/5): An apartment - It’s an apartment in great historic area of beautiful amazing ancient Rouen , no communication re check
In needs to be explained to both parties ‘ Fortunately Herve responded my phone worked as we stood outside the entrance and having had to park the car underground!
- lilia (10/5): - Its very nice apartment, very nice and responsive host. Great location! Thank you!
- Brigid (10/5): Quietness and solitude - I loved it! No reception, no service during the stay, but a very warm welcome from Herve at the beginning, orienting me to the setup. Clean and quiet - and the latter is pretty miraculous for Rouen on a Saturday night! Room was pretty and looked out on a courtyard; I didn't see anyone else.
Highly recommended if you like your alone-time as a traveller!
"Les Carmes" reflects that there was a Carmelite nunnery in the area - and there was a lovely feeling of being on retreat.
- Eleanor (10/5): - Great location, many restaurants below in courtyard. These do provide a lively atmosphere and a bit of conversational noise.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great apartment very central
- Knut (8/5): Flott sted i sentrum av Rouen - Romslig leilighet/rom i sentrum av Rouen, passet oss utmerket.
- Anthony (6/5): Ok but..... - Central and good communication with the landlord. but if you are a light sleeper it's not the right place for you. Noises from the creeky main door, to the people at the bar close by and rubbish pick up early in the morning. No extra pillows available.
- Dominique (10/5): A recommander !
- Peter (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Check in procedure could be more accurate
- Martha (10/5): First nights in France - We arrived in Rouen after more than 24 hours if travel. Once we found the hotel (not well marked) we called to alert of our arrival. We had to wait for about 10 min for someone to arrive and check us in. When he did arrive, we were warmly welcomed and oriented to our room. The Queen bed was comfortable and the recently remodeled bathroom had great shower. The room was quiet with black out curtains- perfect for our "catch up" sleep. The entry is dark and needs remodeled but there's no reason to linger there. Location was great. Within walking distance if many shops, restaurants and sights. Room was clean, quiet and everything we needed for our first two days/nights.
- Jean (8/5): great apart-hotel in the heart of Rouen - great location in the heart of the old Rouen ... walking distance to everything and nice apartment in pristine condition with a good enough standing to be very comfortable
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This property was advertised as a 2 room unit...which it is not. It is one larger room...affords no privacy between sleeping areas. It was also advertised as a B and B...but no breakfast was available. When the host was asked about this, he simply did not reply.
The property was difficult to actually locate which of two different street addresses is the hotel property...so we spent some time walking back and forth between the two properties trying to contact hotel staff...in order to gain access to the hotel room. One property, which bears the hotel signage (and is the Expedia advertised street address) is actually closed. Our room was in an unmarked building about one street block away. With the help of local merchants and towns people, we were able to locate the actual property where we were staying.
Once the access hurdle was overcome, the room was clean and secure; location was within easy walking distance of the city's sites; close to a variety of restaurant options. No on site parking so luggage has to be transported several blocks.
Street noise was a significant problem. We were awoken repeatedly throughout the night by pedestrians shouting (and I do mean shouting and fighting in the street) throughout the night...well past 5:00 a.m.
Overall I could not recommend this hotel.
- RysS (6/5): - Ok for overnight if it's not too hot. No AC, opened windows let street noise in. Just 1 tiny fan provided. Weird toilet flushing system. Close to city center.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the room and the location. Only downside was the entryway, shared with apartments in the building, that was dingy.
