• Emeline (9/5): Un hôtel reposant avec de la nourriture délicieuse - L'hôtel dispose de 2 onsens différents qui sont très agréables. La nourriture était très bonne, que ça soit le kaiseki ou le buffet petit déjeuner. L'atmosphère était très reposante et les installations étaient très complètes.

The food, you may want to skip. - The design and size of the room, it is very spacious and well layout, Location is very convinient if Zao mountain is your main objective, I would be backed just for the room. The food is really disappointing. It is not typical Ryokan standard but more like a 3 stars hotel standard in a city. The main advantage is that the breakfast is a buffet which gave you a little more flexibility instead of the standard japanese breakfast which usually just lots of small pickled dishes and one tiny fish with lots of rice. I would skip the meal if not for the convinient of eating in the hotel. We booked a room for 3, with such a big room, I would expect a proper extra bed. Instead it was just a narrow sofa bed.

• Viktoria (4/5): Good, but would not come back - * good onsens * free drinks and ice cream * nice dinner * okay breakfast, finishes at 9.30, so it’s very rushed * good size rooms and can open windows * offered room snacks, but I think because of the construction noise * construction was happening during our stay, so we could here the hammering and drilling noise while we were there. When we informed the staff, they told them to stop, but it kept happening on other days, which was very very unpleasant. * spot light outside of the window never gets turned off, very annoying * onsen are available to public, which becomes very busy sometimes and it wasn’t pleasant.

• Tracy (10/5): Thank you Zao Shiki no Hotel for looking after us so well - First time to Zao for ski/board and while not a ski-in/ski-out hotel, the rest of the hotel was truly exceptional - the "way too much food" at dinners, the front desk team, the rental at the hotel, the guest room was big, the thoughtful snacks and drinks in the lobby, and the "to-die-for" view from the onsen. Perhaps extend the hotel shuttle service to other chair lifts other than just the one to Zao Rope Way Sanrokusen.

The choice of two onsens. Lovely service. A variety of robes to choose from to use also- very fun. Would stay again, for sure!

• Sofia (5/5): Good only if you are Japanese. Very overpriced! - It has big rooms. The location of the hotel is pratical The was not hot water, only warm water from the shower. When we asked the staff about, they kindly told us they were sorry, that normally people wash themselves in the Onsen. They tried to fix the water's temperature but still it's wasn't hot enough. Unacceptable! The food and the environment in general are not appropriate for Occidental people. Mattress was very hard with only one thin topper and uncomfortable pillows. Also, the room cleaner moved my pillow and some of my stuff from a place to another. As you can see in the picture, not acceptable!

• Kristian (10/5): Perfect onsen hotel experience, amazing attention to detail - A true 5-star experience in Japan. What amazed me the most was the attention to detail - from the room equipment to services, it seems that they have thought of everything. An example of such detail: They have 2 baths - and one of them is outside - about 100m from the hotel. Just for this 100m walk, they prepared winter coats and winter boots that you can wear over your regular yukata apparel so that you can reach it comfortably. The rooms are beautiful and have premium equipment. Breakfast was also wonderful. They also have very expensive massage chairs in the hallway that you can use for free, they were amazing. Zao Onsen (the town) is stunning in Winter and not as touristy as Hakone, etc. Ventilation could be improved in one of the inner baths (1F) - every time the dinner started, the smell of fried oil came into the bath.

• chi keung (10/5): A superb hotel - An excellent hotel to stay to appreciate the beauty of the ZAO autumn. The hotel is well located, very close to the ZAO ropeway while keeping a minute drive away from the ZAO small town center. We liked everything of the hotel, the arrangement of the rooms which all have mountain views, the comfortable lounge, the drink corner and the exhibition room which, during my stay, gave me a chance to look at the fantastic work of ITO on the autumn and winter of ZAO. I am really very grateful for this bonus event. We liked our room (508) which was in excellent size, spotless clean with large comfortable beds. We liked the meals, both the Japanese set dinner and the buffet breakfast, all dishes were in high quality and delicious. The onsen was also excellent. It stands alone a minute walk from the main building. We really could soap ourselves in the onsen and enjoyed the tranquility of quiet evening and morning. Finally, the staff who served us were excellent. We were grateful particularly for the service of the gentleman in the reception and the lady in the dining room. They deserved our commendation. Zao shiki no hotel would be our first pick when we visit Zao again. It could have been better if we could stay longer.

• 旅好き2017 (10/5): Excellent!!! - 山形は初めてでしたが、樹氷で有名な時期ではなく、お釜の幻想的？大地の不思議な色彩と風景・そして、少し早かったかもの紅葉を目的に訪れました。良かった点は、かなりいろいろです。①入浴系：日頃、なかなかたどり着けない硫黄泉の楽しめかなり肌を癒せたこと（この季節なら気持ちよい程度の別棟（？）への移動がありますが）。本館には十分な温まり系のアルカリ泉で、温度設定に気遣ってくれていて、熱すぎず・温すぎず（個人の感性です/すいません）長くあったまれます。②食事：アルコールを控えている私ですが、地酒の合いそうな地元の食材に始まり、山形牛を中心にした夕食のコースは秀逸でした。朝食もとても、この地域・このホテルならではのオリジナルがちりばめられていてこれまた、なかなか他では味わえないものが揃っていて、とても美味しかったです。③職員の方のホスピタリティの高さも素敵でした。言葉遣い云々でなく、”この地域へようこそ・・・”という雰囲気が、心から伝わってくるように感じました。④地域性：歩いてすぐに、ロープウエイの駅があり、低山登山のきちんとした準備があれば、お釜の風景までのそれほど負荷のひどくない山歩きを楽しめます。軽装は避けるべきですが、天気に恵まれればとてもお勧めです。 なお、新幹線の山形駅までの行き帰りは、時間に限りはありますが、送迎バスがあり（事前予約必要）助かります。また是非、利用したいです。素敵な時間をありがとうございました。 特にありません。しいて言うなら、もう少し売店の飲み物の選択幅が広いと良いかもしれません。いわゆる食事の後も、飲みたい方は、きっとお部屋でと、なりますので、21時までのフロント前のフリードリンクタイムのワインやビール程度はあってもよいのかもとは思いました。

• Lifang (1/5): 未入住 - 未入住 因訂房網系統缺失，以致原訂六人入住，訂了三間雙人房，僅能入住4人，飯店堅持要再付2人費用約34000日圓才能入住，無法理解飯店手上的訂單也是每間房費相同，卻有二間顯示只能住一人，這間溫泉飯店的費用每房含早晚餐，計46200日元，不便宜，沒有服務熱忱，一行六人包括二位80歲長輩，挨餓討論近3小時，一杯茶水都沒有，最終選擇不入住，回台後致電booking.com也是經過一個小時後，確認是訂房龬系統出問題，以退費及10%補償，但是這家飯店的處理態度對旅客非常不友善，給各位網友參考

The room in traditional Japanese style was huge but cozy, very comfortable and had massive windows looking directly into the forest. The onsen facilities were spotlessly clean and the outside onsen was a truly unique experience. Buffet breakfast felt like a feast and we did try dinner one night which was great and highly recommended during low season as options in the village are limited. Overall this was one of our best hotel experiences and the staff made us feel like family. Highly recommended.
• Julie (8/5): Nice hotel a little out of the centre of Zao. - A beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and gracious staff. It was August but the only restaurant open at the hotel was a very expensive one and so I needed to walk into the village which is quite a way distance away. It would have been good if there was at least one other less expensive restaurant option open in such a large hotel.

Though we cant speak Japanese, they tried their best to explain in English. The beef is so delicious. The breakfast is also delicious. The outdoor onsen is great. We like the thrill wearing yukata out in the cooling weather. The room is spacious and comfortable. The staff never fails to deliver fruits to our room despite we went out for some time. Nil.
