- Shelley (9/5): Wonderful traditional style comfortable hotel - Beautiful, spacious, clean and comfy rooms. Particularly good to have a wardrobe which isn't too common. As we have a vegan diet we enjoyed our traditional breakfast which was one of our reasons for choosing a Buddhist hotel. Staff were very friendly. We liked the hotel to proximity to Shinseki and also Shitennoj temple. The location is quiet even though it is on a main road, as it is a residential area. Maybe not a great room for those with mobility issues due to low beds and step up into bathroom. But maybe they have a special room for that?

- Morten (10/5): - This is my first time ever traveling to Japan and since I'd never experienced Japanese service before, II was genuinely shocked with how well I was treated. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful and even with a relative language barrier I felt they were also very good at explaining things for me. The room was very clean and comfortable. My first experience with Tatami mats was great, I can see the heightened comfort it brings and the way you have to take your shoes off before stepping on it made me feel more relaxed. The breakfast they offer is also very nice. I liked that it was meatless, considering all the copious amounts of meat you're likely to eat in the surrounding area, it's nice to have a change of pace. Now, I can't speak of the quality of this hotel compared to other Japanese Hotels, but I could not imagine it getting much better than this. I have never been treated better by the staff at any other hotels I've been to, and I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay near the Shinsekai area. Nothing that warrants mentioning.

Claustrophobic room. - I like the comfy bed and the cleanliness The window in the room was opaque (could not see outside) and couldn’t be opened. I felt claustrophobic. Also the staff kicked me out of the breakfast room: it was empty and I wanted to sit somewhere but was told it wasn’t allowed. The location is awful, there’s nothing but cemeteries and small industries around: it’s not walkable. The hotel is ‘Buddhist’ and that was not specified. There are NO amenities included, other than soap and shampoo. It looks pretty but there’s no place to relax. The staff was not knowledgeable about what is around, they just hand you a map … lastly, there’s a high step to get in the bathroom, not ideal for anyone not athletic, elderly or disabled
- Michelle (8/5): Zen hotel with a comfortable bed and friendly staff. - It is a unique place to stay as it is run by Buddhist staff. It is zen and peaceful. The breakfast is also nice and unique. It was actually not near to the centre Dotonburi. But is located where locals live which is nice too. I had wanted to attend the buddhist talk sessions but they occured on days when I am not staying there. There was also sleep yoga but it coincided with a night tour. So do time your time.

- Annie (7/5): Small Buddha Philosophy hotel - This is a small Buddha philosophy hotel, which involves a very subdued gentle approach to customers and the environment around. They charge, which is not unusua, for early check in but the lady was very gentle and kind to us having arrived at 7 in morning after a very long flight. She helped us locate an open Cafe, as there are no facilities on site outside of pre-booked Buddha philosophy breakfast. She also sorted out our suitcase transfer to the next hotel and we were always asked how our day had been and what we had seen , enjoyed. It was a very lovely gentle introduction for us to our first visit and contact with Japan and the Japanese. The hotel is also in a great location and many areas of tourist interest in Osaka are in walking distance and train station only 10/15 minutes away. Although there is a kettle in room there is nothing at the hotel apart from ubiqutious vending machine The rooms are very small and the toilet/shower area is a pod like area in the room itself. These are not really dislikes as they do not affect the gentleness of the hotel.

- Laura Cosima (10/5): Ein außerordentliches Hotel mit wundervollen kleinen Erlebnissen - Wir haben sechs Nächte im Hotel verbracht und haben die Zeit sehr genossen. Das (vegane) Frühstück war jeden Morgen ein Highlight. Das Zimmer war recht geräumig, das Bad typisch Japanisch. In der Lobby kann man sich diverse 'Amenities' mitnehmen. Es gibt die Möglichkeit an manchen Tagen Yoga im Haus zu machen oder kostenfrei an einer Zen-Meditation teilzunehmen. Bei uns hat es so gepasst, dass wir sie direkt mit einem Mönch ausprobieren könnten, der nur für uns zwei kam und es super angeleitet hat. Diese persönliche Stunde war ein tolles Erlebnis. Wir haben auch das Angebot angenommen, buddhistische Sutras zu kopieren. Das Personal war äußerst hilfsbereit und hat unsere Koffer sowohl angenommen als auch beim Versand geholfen. Der Versand wurde sogar schon perfekt vorbereitet. Allgemein kann man sagen, dass das Personal unglaublich höflich, zuvorkommend und aufmerksam ist. Wir haben uns sehr wertgeschätzt gefühlt. Englisch ist auch kein Problem. Bei der Abreise wurde sogar noch Bezug auf eine Mail von mir von ca. drei Wochen vorher genommen, was ich unglaublich aufmerksam fand und was mir so noch nie in einem Hotel passiert ist. Die Unterkunft ist ideal für alle, die etwas Besonderes suchen und japanische Gastfreundschaft erleben wollen. Arigatō gozaimashita. Ich empfand die Lage als angenehem (etwas außerhalb), aber man sollte wissen, dass man nicht im Zentrum ist und ca. 10 Minuten zur nächsten Metro-Station läuft. Ansonsten vielleicht noch die Info, dass die Betten relativ hart sind, aber das gefällt ja auch vielen.

Location was away from the hustle and bustle, but close to trains. My husband took advantage of the meditation. Toilet paper was very thin. Location was near car and motorcycle shops. A few nights there were very loud vehicle noises at a late hour.

Das japanische vegane (vegan Essen ist sehr schwierig in Japan!) Frühstück war sehr gut. Es ist Alles sehr sauber. Die „Duschkabine“ (eine Fertigkonstruktion) war sehr eng. Da wir eines der ersten Zimmer am Fahrstuhl hatten, haben wir viel Straßenlärm mitbekommen. Besser eines der hinteren Zimmer anfragen, wenn man geräuschempfindlich ist.

- Wolfgang (5/5): Die vielen guten Bewertungen sind nicht nachvollziehbar - Die Kategorie ist eher Budget-Hotel. Bad/Toilette ist ein Kunststoffelement aus einem Gruß. Eher wie auf einem Campingplatz. Das Zimmer winzig, eher 14 qm als die gebuchten 18 qm. Das Frühstück und die Atmosphäre im Frühstücksraum eher lieblos und bedrückend. Woher die vielen guten Bewertungen kommen ist uns ein Rätsel. Womöglich haben wir eine teure Zeit erwischt und die Bewertungen kommen von Budget-Reisenden, was wir nicht sind. Oder von anspruchslosen Pilgern auf dem Weg zum Koyasan. Für ein Budget-Hotel oder eine Pilgerunterkunft sind die Leistungen möglicherweise gut. Wir sind vorzeitig abgereist und haben statt eines Tagesausflugs von Osaka nach Nara ein Hotel in Nara gebucht (18 qm) was in jeglicher Hinsicht eine gute Entscheidung war. Von den vielen Hotels, die wir in Japan besucht und erlebt haben ist dies das einzige, das wir nicht wieder buchen würden. (Ich bin kein Freund schlechter Bewertungen. Diese schreibe ich, weil mich die vielen herausragenden Bewertungen in die Irre geführt haben.) Anbei ein Foto, wie das Hotel von außen wirklich aussieht. Direkt an einer großen Straße, die werktags viel befahren ist. Zu Fuß mit dem Gepäck unangenehm weit zur nächsten Metro.

- Annabb5 (10/5): Cool little place in Osaka - Lovely little hotel, quite a bit away from Dotonbori and the hustle and bustle but well connected: 2 train station within 10 mins walking. Lovely park and zoo nearby, Shinsekai for a dinner and a little shopping. Hotel is light, staff are friendly and efficient l, rooms are spacious, tatami mats, seating on the floor, full sized bath. What's not to like. We didn't get to do the meditations or meet the monks, that's a shame. Next time! Nothing really, later check out would have been lovely 😁

- Keren (10/5): Lovely, peaceful hotel - Lovely Little hotel. Very clean, peaceful and quiet. The hotel offers activities such as Yoga and Meditation. The room was lovely and spacious. My room was on the main road, but it was still very quiet. The bed was super confortable! The slippers that are given to the guests are beatiful. Location was great! The staff was very friendly, helpful and polite. I will definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Osaka. Great value for money! I highly recommend this hotel! Nothing.

I asked for extra pillows because I am pregnant and they provided me with a special pregnancy pillow. Also the breakfast there was AMAZING! nothing- everything was great!

- sasha saron (10/5): - I liked the peaceful atmosphere, that you could participate in various activities within the hotel for your well-being, and the patient staff I ran into! The design of the room and the overall expectations of what the ambience brings to hotel stayers made it even better.
- Diana (7/5): Superb breakfast - Very tasty vegan breakfast, staff was extremely nice and helpful (even organized our luggage forwarding). It was around 10 minutes away by foot from two different subway stations. Nice restaurants in the area and in Shinsekai, also close by foot. The rooms were a bit small, thin walls and not very comfortable. The window was impossible to open and so the air circulation wasn’t ideal.
