Guest Reviews
- tiekhere (7/5): Generally good, but ni bag storage makes early arrival inconvenient. - Good and clean rooms, very close to the 6 bus line, which puts you in the city centre within 10 mins. No key for my room (either broken or missing), and make sure you don't arrive before check-in time at 14h. You will be made to wait/return later, which, ok, check-in is 14h, but there's no storage for your bags either. So if you arrive in the city earlier, don't bother going to the Auberge before 14h. Find something to do while carrying your bags.

- Lukáš (10/5): - Krásné, čisté ubytování vhodné na pár nocí. Využili jsme během mistrovství i světa v hokeji a na přespání po zápase úplně ideální. Rozhodně mohu doporučit na takovéto krátké pobyty

- Charmaine (8/5): Clean and quiet, great value for money especially as we stayed for a sports event. - Location is on a hill (a steep 20 min walk from the station) but with beautiful views surrounding the area and a small flock of sheep along the way. We were only there for a night so can't comment on facilities too much but it was clean and quiet. We didn't get any type of key but we went for the Hockey World Championships so maybe it was to be expected if they wanted to keep the doors open for latecomers? Check in was very brief but we got the information we needed

Certaines douches doivent être remises en état ou sont à réparer. sinon plutôt bien dans l'ensemble
- Georges (7/5): - The internet is good No key to access after 8:30 PM
No one to report
The restaurant's personnel who did the administration refuses to take any responsibility, so it is difficult to know to who to report to
Cleaning should be improved

- Anastasia (5/5): It was ok for one night, but I won’t recommend it or come again - The bed was comfortable enough, warm blanket, clean bedsheets.
Electricity socket at the sleeping space, a little shelf behind the head space. The shower didn’t work properly, it had two shower heads: top and bottom one. Both were leaking water all around, was inconvenient to catch the flow of water.
There was no toilet paper in the toilets.
No hair dryer available. Though the stuff offered me to come to another floor (ground floor) where I might use it. Where also plenty of people passing by next to the entrance of the building. Bedrooms and showers are on the second floor.
I needed to ask few times for a hot water to make myself a warm infusion in my room, and I heard few explanations why they don’t have hot water and that I can buy tea or coffee at the bar. On my further request and explanation the lady from the bar agreed to give me hot water in my thermocup from the bar coffeemachine.
The wall in the bedroom behind table had a huge coffee flaws, like a cup of coffee was thrown on the wall, it didn’t give a good general feeling.
Also in the room were two bunk beds and on one of them there were few hook hangers for clothes, on other one none. It felt like I didn’t have any space to hang my jacket or blouse or anything towel.
Location is a last stop of a bus, also I was reaching the place after 17 o’clock, it was already dark and was quite difficult to find as it was a bit deeper away from the street than the map showed.

- Loïck (2/5): Peu et mal dormi. A éviter - Accueuil peu aimable.

- Vera (10/5): - I had great and enjoyable stay : clean, secure (there were electronic keys, which allowed to return at any time, even after midnight), there was only one another girl in my room, doing some University courses. Fantastic for the most reasonable price in the region. If they could add a kettle (ma théière) for making tea in the common room, that would be awesome.

- Marco (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Jeff (5/5): Passable -
- Jeff (5/5): Passable - No key, no lockers, no security at all.
- Bárbara (1/5): I do not recommend it! - The bed is comfortable. One of the most critical issues for me is the lack of a kitchen. The only thing provided is a refrigerator, but you can't cook anything. There are no lockers in the rooms, and there are no bedside lamps. The staff doesn't respond to messages, so if you need to communicate with the hostel before your arrival, forget it!
***TO NEWCOMERS TO FRIBOURG FOR RESIDENCY: DO NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE!!!*** You need to provide an address to the immigration office, which will send an invitation letter to that address. The hostel owner does not allow guests to receive any kind of mail. He tears up the letters and throws them in the trash.
- Pietro (8/5): Very good - It is relatively close to the train station. It only requires to climb up a hill, which isn't a problem for me. The hostel looks modern and is very clean. I was expecting the staff to speak English (and French), as advertised. The person who checked me in spoke only French (no English, no German), which made it a bit akward. There was another member of staff who spoke English and helped out, but was busy in a different room and had to be called in a few times when hand gestures didn't suffice.
Also, check-in instructions are not very clear. When I got to the location, it was a bit unclear what I was supposed to do and who I was supposed to speak to.
Last thing. I used the booking chat to request a late check-in, but I didn't receive any reply. I sent my first message on Thursday and was ment to check-in the following Monday. I also tried to call, but I was told that the phone number is to be used for the restaurant only.
I ended up finding a different accommodation for the first day. Luckily, I paid on location the next day, without including the first night.
- Sharon (7/5): Good - Kitchen facilities was just a kettle and fridge
- Fawzy (8/5): Very good -
- Yoboue (8/5): Very good -
- Santiago (8/5): Very good -
- Fawzy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (7/5): Works fine - New facilities. Location up the hill - not very close to shops but gives you a nice view around. Somehow part of a tennis club and connected to a block of appartments. I was the only guest that night I belive and that felt quite weird in the big facilities. However I feel the facilities would not be very convenient for many people: the three showers are built in a way that the whole room‘s floor is wet after one shower. And there could be more hooks and places to hang / place personal stuff in all facilities.
- Mohammed (1/5): Rude staffs -
- Nikolo (7/5): Good -
- Esther (6/5): Pleasant - Bed very comfortable, very close to bus station to join downtown, bedrooms cleans, bathrooms well organized and clean No trash in the bedroom, no reading light for each bed so you don't bother the others, no locker to put your things in a safe place.
Nowhere to cook, a dinning room without microwave, stove and oven, forced to go to the restaurant. Just a fridge.
- Ghazi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ricard (6/5): Pleasant - Bed comodity
Small amount of people Too far from the city
Difficult to find the location
No lockers
- Ségolène (3/5): Poor - Very clean
Minimum furniture and equipment to stay. Difficult to explain that I would like to sleep after midnight despite the big party
And better equipment in the kitchen
- Seg (2/5): Very poor - cleaness staff not nice
difficult to sleep and no understanding and kindness from the staff
- Tuck (7/5): Good - We were given the whole dorm for the 4 of us. Need to take bus to the property on your own. Lack of communication between the staff and guests. Queries were not answered.
- Amy (8/5): would stay again - good location, up a steep hill but a fairly short walk from the station. staff were great and the properly was reasonable. also has a bar/restaurant downstairs which is nice. the showers and toilets were very good and also has a good kitchen area. would have been nice to have a little light in the bed area and the rooms were quite basic with no lockers.
- Meng (3/5): extremely rude front desk French waitress! - quiet and clean the French waitress who was doing the checking in was extremely rude and actually told me to go away before 2pm. I just wanted to store my luggage. Then she sneered and forced me to fill out all my documents despite it already existing in their system.
- Michael (4/5): I get that it’s a hostel but for 50 per night I expect more than the absolute bare minimum - the dorms have adequate privacy with good curtains. there is a charging port as long as you have the correct European narrow plug. there is good Wi-Fi there were no lockers for valuables. the beds were not guaranteed/wasn’t sure if someone had just slept in it. the soap dispensers were empty. hairdryers.
- Richard (8/5): Comfortable, affordable dormitory slightly outside the city centre. - Low price (for Switzerland). Accessible by car without having to go through city centre traffic. Clean bathrooms and showers. Quiet rooms. Restaurant on the floor below (so you can have a beer after getting home) (I didn't notice any noise from restaurant guests at all). A bit far from restaurants in the city centre (20-25 minutes by foot). You need to bring your own towel (didn't see this in the description). Some staff only speak french (so not a problem if you can speak it).
- Anna (8/5): Quiet at this time of year - That I had a room to myself this time of the year so I could rest properly. There is a restaurant if hungry. I found it rather expensive and it is away from Fribourg attractions although there is a bus stop. Because of the absence of other travellers rather lonely
- Hans (8/5): I always like to return to this friendly, easy-going and affordable hostel. -
- Sven (9/5): Superb -
- Jasmina (7/5): Good - New, accessible location Missing facilities like lockers, high price
- Olga (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - Clean and comfortable Location. For me, it didn't matter but for tourists it's not the best location (although very close to old town of Fribourg, only a few bus stops away).
- Robert (8/5): Good but better when they would buy lockers - The price is good for the comfort. There are no lockers.
There were five guys in one room. It is ok but you need lockers where you can put your luggage.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hamid (6/5): Pleasant -
- Fabio (4/5): unpleasant, icky - Price Beds were not adequately prepared, felt unhygienic.
- Tri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katrin (1/5): Don't go there if you don't speak french - If you want a professional accommodation, don't go there. If you don't speak french, don't even think about booking this place. I arrived on a sunday and because on booking.com it says Check-In is only until 6pm, I tried to call the place multiple times that day and no one answered. Which means until arrival I didn't know if I will be even able to stay there. I was stressed the whole afternoon. Plus, I sent multiple messages over booking about the Check-In but no one replied.
When I arrived, no one was there. Just other guests, who were so kind to help me and give me the private number of the owner. I had to leave very early the next day so I had to pay the same day; so I called to ask if someone was coming tonight. The person on the phone only spoke french and insisted on me speaking french. Finally, he gave the phone to a girl who could speak English. She said she will be over in 1-2 hours and we can do the payment. She arrived and she was really kind and nice and I paid. Then I thought everything is fine. BUT later that night around 10pm the owner (I think it was the owner) arrived and ONLY talked french to me and DIDN'T STOP talking french even though I said MULTIPLE TIMES I don't understand french (I said it in french!!). I understand very little french so what I could understand was that he accused me of not having paid!!! I tried to tell him that a girl was here and that I paid but he didn't stop talking angrily in French, even when I showed him the bill of the payment he didn't believe me because the room where we were to pay was locked. What he didn't understand is that the girl locked the room again when she left! He was so annoyed by me and angry even though I did nothing wrong. Absolutely ridiculous.
It was an absolutely improfessional, nerve wracking, rude experience and I would NOT recommend this place to stay.
- Mina (1/5): Very bad and awful stay - nothing the hostel and staff are very unprofessional. it is basically a restaurant which offers beds upstairs. no reception, no lockers, no keys for the rooms . one of the housekeeping guys was shouting to me very disrespectfully, he doesn’t understand nor want to understand. the girl serving in the restaurant checked me in without giving me the key of the outer door, she didn’t tell me any info about the door keys unless when I asked her. she apparently is very new. they took from me 20euros (temporary) to take the outer door key and the next morning i gave it back they gave me 20 Swiss franks and not euros. Everything was very unprofessional and they are very beginners and trying to manage it with very low experience in hosteling and at least the way they deal with guests should be more respectful. Experience was awful, very unsecured untrusty and unworthy half of the value. I don’t recommend it to anyone and I will never go there again.
