We were treated to a delicious fruit drink on arrival. Pool was lovely and great for kids of all ages. Had a packed breakfast ready for us before heading off early on a safari. - Helen (10/5): Beautiful garden oasis and pool, exceptional value for money. - This is a beautiful place to stay for a visit to Udawalawe NP. The rooms are big and very clean, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is great with a lovely shower. The gardens are really beautiful and the pool is so big and refreshing after a safari. The food was delicious, staff were super helpful - everything was 10 ⭐️

My dinner was fantastic and my table directly overlooked the National Park, seeing a Serval on my first night. The next morning I went on the safari - the hotel has its own jeep and tour guide, so it was unbelievably easy. (Just what you want at 6am!) A breakfast was packed for me and was perfect. (Fresh fruit included - yum!) Staff were lovely and helped with my heavy bags, which I appreciated as I had a bad shoulder. The pool was great, too. Room had air conditioning and a fan - and was huge! And they sorted my airport transfer for me on my last morning! The tuktuk ordered via the hotel to take me to the elephant orphanage charged a lot. I know this is more the tuktuk driver's fault - but just thought the hotel should be aware that their clients are being ripped off.

- Daniel (7/5): Ein solides Hotel, wenn man eine Safaritour machen möchte - Das Personal war sehr bemüht und zuvorkommend, wodurch der Aufenthalt sehr angenehm war. Das große Zimmer bot viel Platz und die Klimatisierung funktionierte zuverlässig. Das Outdoor Bad war ein besonderes Highlight. Das Hotel ist eine gute Wahl, wenn man eine Safaritour machen möchte. Die Wand hat nach Schimmel beziehungsweise sehr feucht gerochen. Das Frühstück war okay. Der Kaffee war nicht lecker.

- Tom (10/5): Great value for money stay close to Udawalawe and with amazing staff and food - Eliyanth lodge is situated beautiful with its own garden and swimming pool, and close to Udawalawe national park. The room was comfortable and spacious. We booked the safari tours with them which was very easy and well arranged. Special thanks to our driver and guide Shantha Kumara who was very knowledgeable and made a sincere effort to give us the best safari experience. The staff at the Eliyanth itself was also great, all being very helpful and thoughtful. Lastly the food was amazing. We would definitely recommend the place, with great value money.

We had a swim in the pool after 6pm which was warm and relaxing. We also bought the 4 hour safari from the hotel and had a lovely morning safari and breakfast afterwards. We had great service throughout our stay too! The swimming pool could be better lit at night. Everything else was excellent.

- Audrey (7/5): Good for 2 nights - The place is pretty and they are welcoming. They had little puppies very cute that also welcomed us!! The rooms was big and the view to the river. The staff was nice and very nice located from the Uda Park. We booked the safari with them but we would be back at 12h and the check out was at 11h which is very not practical as we had to check out before the safari. They should think about that. Also the safari breakfast was not very good but this is subjective taste.

- Patrick (7/5): Séjour correct à l’Eliante, avec un personnel agréable mais des chambres peu adaptées au confort attendu. - Expérience mitigée à l’Eliante. La première chambre proposée n’avait pas de fenêtre, ce qui est assez surprenant. Après demande, nous avons changé pour une chambre donnant sur la piscine avec de grandes baies vitrées, mais cela oblige à garder les rideaux fermés une grande partie du temps pour préserver l’intimité. La nuit, l’éclairage extérieur est assez présent, ce qui ne facilite pas le sommeil. Malgré cela, le personnel est sympathique et serviable. L’hôtel reste correct, mais ce n’est clairement pas le plus marquant de notre séjour au Sri Lanka.

- Melanie (9/5): Quiet hotel near Udawalawa National Park with wonderful staff! - Lovely and peaceful hotel very close to the entrance of Udawalawe National Park. What makes this place special is the wonderful staff. They were so kind and always willing to help. The hotel organized our safari and it was incredible! Special mention to Tharushi and Tharindu for being so caring and making sure we had an amazing stay!

The manager Wijay, and the rest of the stuff, Naween, Dilshan, Wihaga, Wishmi and Tharidu where absolutely friendly. We had there the best dinner on our journey. The food and breakfast were GREAT. Location was lovely next to a river. Bed was comfortable and room clean. I didn’t like the open air toilet, there was a storm and the little storm flies came.

Generell wirkte die Stimmung unter den Angestellten angespannt. Das Zimmer war jedoch schön und sauber. Im Restaurant musste man über eine Stunde auf das Essen warten

- Colleen (10/5): - Beautiful wooden cabin overlooking the pristine garden side pool. Super friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend the Safari tour with Asithe- it was so much fun and really informative. The Sri Lankan breakfast of string hoppers was delicious!
- James (9/5): Calm base in nature for Udawalawe Safari - Amazing position on the river, calm and peaceful. We really enjoyed the pool and long slow breakfasts situated in nature watching the wildlife including birds, lizards, chipmunks, squirrels, peacocks and monkeys. We enjoyed staying in the same room as a family and the staff (in particular Vijay the manager) could not do enough to help us and make our stay comfortable. The safari they arranged was fantastic and the highlight of our stay, our driver Thushan was calm, knowledgeable and took his time with no rushing around but calm and respectful viewing of wildlife, highly recommended. We found the food very good and lots of good options for kids, very nice breakfast by the river - English or Sri Lankan breakfast available. If you are looking for a calm base to explore the national park this is a great choice, we stayed three days which allowed enough time for downtime, local walks and the national park safari day. If you have small children check the mezzanine floors are suitable for you as the stairs are steep.

Wir haben die Safari über die Unterkunft organisiert und viele Tiere gesehen. Das Sri Lankanische Essen (Rice and Curry) war preiswert und viel (entgegen der anderen Bewertungen, bezieht sich wahrscheinlich auf die internationalen Gerichte) Frühstück hätte etwas mehr sein können, Obst hat uns zum Beispiel gefehlt was wir sonst überall dabei hatten.
- Julia (8/5): Saubere gepflegte Unterkunft mit tollem Pool. Ideal für 1,2 Nächte um eine Safari zu machen. - Zimmer war sehr geräumig und sauber. Sehr schön eingerichtet und der Blick vom Balkon aus Richtung Fluss war wunderbar. Nachts hört man nur die Grillen zirpen. Man sieht öfter Affen, Pfaue, Echsen und Riesenhörnchen direkt vom Zimmer oder Restaurant aus. Der Pool ist richtig sauber und eine tolle Abkühlung nach der Safari. Die Safari haben wir übers Hotel organisieren lassen. Hat alles super geklappt und wir wurden mit dem großen Jeep direkt beim Hotel abgeholt. Die Anlage ist an sich wirklich sehr liebevoll gestaltet, nur rund um unser Haus wo das Zimmer sich befand sah es etwas unschön aus. Links war etwas Chaos und Müll und rechts 3 wirklich hässliche schwarze Container die permanent wirken, keine Ahnung warum man die da hingestellt hat. Das Essen war sehr gut nur vieles auf der Karte war nicht verfügbar. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich aber sprechen zum Großteil sehr schlecht Englisch.

We ate in the restaurant on one night and the food particularly the curry was delicious. The atmosphere is very chilled and relaxing. Poor wifi Rooms felt a little dusty and glass could be cleaner on the beautiful big windows we had looking out on to the pool.
- Miriam (7/5): Es war ok - Das Zimmer und auch die Umgebung am Fluss waren sehr schön. Die Zimmer sind groß, allerdings kann oben unterm Dach niemand schlafen, weil es viel zu heiß ist. Die Lage war ok, man ist auf einen Fahrer angewiesen, weil es keine Restaurants fußläufig gibt. Der Pool ist toll! Sehr sauber und schön gestaltet. Das Frühstück war extrem wenig. Man wählt am Vorabend aus was man frühstücken möchte und wir waren sehr enttäuscht. Es gibt kaum Toast, kaum Butter/Marmelade, gar kein Obst und nur einen ganz kleinen Saft. Das schlechteste Frühstück unserer Reise. Generell ist die Küche sehr schlecht. Wir haben abends einmal dort bestellt und haben über eine Stunde auf gebratene Nudeln gewartet. Leider haben weder die Nudeln noch der gebratene Reis geschmeckt. Dafür ist es aber ziemlich teuer. Es gab auch kaum Getränke, das meiste war gerade nicht da. Da frage ich mich wie das sein kann, wenn man doch viele Buchungen hat. Wir haben unsere Safari über das Hotel gebucht und waren leider enttäuscht. Wir haben diese Safari schon mal gemacht, daher wissen wir, wie viel man eigentlich erfahren kann von seinem Guide. Leider hat dieser Guide nur am Handy gehangen, hat uns überhaupt nichts erklärt und wir sollten plötzlich aussteigen und eine 30 minütige Pause machen (bei einer 4 stündigen Morgensafari total unnötig). Dafür haben wir gezahlt, obwohl wir keine Pause brauchten. Würde ich also nicht über das Hotel buchen.

The swimming pool was amazing and not busy when we used it in the morning. Due to its location a reasonable distance from Udawalawe, we didn’t feel there was anywhere local we could walk to.

- Sara Kaae (3/5): recently stayed at Eliyanth Udawalawe, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. To - The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the surroundings are beautiful. The hotel is located in a wonderful natural area, and it was a special experience to see animals right around the property, even near the restaurant and pool. Because of the location and the photos online, we had really been looking forward to our stay. Sadly, much of the rest of the experience did not live up to that promise. Although there were plenty of staff, they seemed largely unengaged and often busy on their phones. Basic things simply didn’t happen. Our room was never serviced, despite the hotel being nearly empty. The same lack of attention was visible around the pool area. There were insects floating in the water, and towels, glasses, and bottles left by guests who left the pool around 10 in the morning were still there late in the evening. This was surprising considering how many staff members were around. Because the hotel is quite isolated, you naturally end up eating at the restaurant. The menu looks impressive, but the reality was very different. The waiters themselves often seemed uncertain whether dishes on the menu were actually available. Even though there were several staff members present, they constantly had to go back and ask the kitchen whether items on the menu could be prepared. It makes you wonder what they were doing all day if they didn’t even know the basics of their own menu. The prices were comparable to a five-star coastal resort, yet the food felt very basic and often misleading compared to the descriptions. A pasta dish described with fresh tomatoes, garlic and olive oil arrived swimming in something closer to ketchup, without any vegetables. Dishes described with rita turned out to be just a spoon of mayonnaise, and meals advertised with avocado were served without any avocado at all. the staff openly admitted that some of the ingredients listed on the menu were not included in the dishes—yet they were still served at the samme high price Overall, it felt like a huge waste of potential. The location and nature around the hotel are fantastic, but the lack of management, poor attention to guests, and an overpriced, misleading restaurant experience left us with the feeling of being taken advantage of as tourists rather than welcomed as guests.

W restauracji większość pozycji w menu była niedostępna, chcieliśmy zapłacić, ale powiedziano nam, ze podczas wymeldowania. Następnego dnia rano mieliśmy safari. Sami przypomnieliśmy, ze chcieliśmy zapłacić za lunch, no i zrobił się wielki problem, bo chłopcy nie mieli informacji ile kosztował, my to wiedzieliśmy i chcieliśmy zapłacić wraz z napiwkiem. No ale mimo to, nie chciano nas puścić, choć nasz kierowca już czekał. Bardzo nieprofesjonalne zachowanie obsługi.

Very nice and helpful staff, they even prepared a to-go breakfast for our safari which started at 6:00! We enjoyed our stay so much, we extended it for 1 more night :) I would definitely suggest to stay there at least 2 nights! We booked the cheapest room, I would recommend to book the room which is a bit more expensive, because the wifi in the cheap room didn't work - otherwise we really liked it!

- alessandra (8/5): Nice place to stay! Make sure there aren’t misunderstanding! - Location is fantastic, it is in front of a small river and very close the UDAWALAWE national park. Swimming poll was perfect for a cool-down. Room was beautiful with a balcony facing the river and a open shower! AC in perfect condition, large room. Dinner was very tasty. Staff is friendly but communicate in English is a challenge. We agreed to have breakfast after the safari but when we arrived breakfast wasn’t possible anymore.

Lieve jongens die het ontbijt serveren. Het eten in het restaurant viel echt tegen, ook aan de prijzige kant. Gelukkig lag er om de hoek een heel goed restaurant (Garlic Restaurant) en je kunt makkelijk een pick'me bestellen om Udawalawe in de gaan om te eten.

- Emma (9/5): A beautiful tropical retreat near Udawalawe National Park with stunning wildlife, lovely rooms, and wonderfully attentiv - What a beautiful place. Quiet, tropically gorgeous grounds. With monkeys, chipmunks, monitor lizards and birds, and luscious greenery everywhere, it seemed like a bit of paradise to us. We even spotted a praying mantis and tree snake! Room was fabulous (super clean, tastefully decorated and with everything we needed). Bed was enormous and super comfortable. Pool was amazing, clean and perfect size for us, surrounded by loungers and umbrellas and monkeys even visited! Food was good. Some things not always available but plenty of other dishes to choose from. Jumbo garlic prawns were a hit! Messaging communication was super friendly and professional even when we added an extra night. The staff went above and beyond at all times. Vishmi, Ashok and Vijay were all fantastic; friendly and always checking in with us. Also great with our 10 year old who absolutely loved it here and didn’t want to leave. Only 10-15 drive to Udawalawe park. We would recommend Eliyanth without a doubt. Brilliant stay and so glad we booked an extra night. J Honestly, I’m struggling to think of anything. We would come back here without hesitation!

- Lone (8/5): Lækker pool, smukke omgivelser og god beliggenhed - Smukke jungle omgivelser lige ned til en flod. Vi så både øgle, aber, egern og en slange ved campen. Poolen var rigtig dejlig og ren. Der kom nye pool håndklæder hver dag, hvilket var rigtig rart. Værelse med hems havde behagelige senge. Personalet var meget venlige og hjælpsomme. Campen ligger ca. 20 min fra indgangen udawalllawe nationalpark og kun 10 min fra elefantbørnehjemmet. Ventetid i restauranten. Maden var ikke den store oplevelse.
- Kai (7/5): Fantastic safari - accommodation was in a convenient location. - The room was comfortable and the morning safari we booked through the accommodation was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended - our guide was really good. The went to a lovely restaurant a short distance away by tuk tuk the evening before and had delicious food (Garlic restaurant). The room was dark and the shower was open to the open air which is a nice idea but meant we had to keep the light off and door closed to stop mosquitoes getting in. The packed breakfast was very poor. Dry white cheese sandwich and cake, boiled egg and sausage. The fruit was good. We were charged 400 sr rupees per bottle of water which is an outrageous price for Sri Lanka. Pool was not available due to maintenance but didn’t get a discount for this.
- Ligaya (1/5): - Die Safari welche von der Unterkunft angeboten wird ist absolut nicht empfehlenswert. Deutlich teurer und weniger inkludiert als bei anderen Anbietern. Der Eigentümer versucht einen hier als auch beim Essen (sehr kleine Portionen) definitiv etwas reinzulegen.

- Mark (10/5): Lovely peaceful property with great facilities - On reading the recent reviews of this property, I was a little concerned about renovations, unsafe pools and mediocre food. Nothing could be further from the truth. There were no renovations going on (it was very peaceful), the pool and surrounding area were just sensational, and the food was just lovely. The staff were very friendly and reception was very happy to organise a safari and car transfers. Sorry, some reviewers can just be mean and miserable! Nothing

- Melanie (9/5): Tolle Unterkunft mit naher Lage zum Nationalpark. - Schöne Lage am Fluss und geräumiges Zimmer. Großer Pool zum Entspannen. Tolle Safari mit spitzen Guide und Fahrer, der uns alles genauestens erklärt hat. Durch die Lage am Fluss sind mehr Mücken vorhanden.

Die Anlage ist auf keinen Fall (wie angegeben) behindertengerecht. Zu den Appartements im Erdgeschoss musste man über sehr hohe ungleichmäßig Treppen gehen. Für Personen, die mobil eingeschränkt sind, ist das auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen.
