Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Rough place I'll never forget - Stuffy room. Really dirty. She did get us a little oscillating fan to move the air conditioning into the next room so we could all sleep somewhat better. Bathroom was micro small. Linoleum peeling up. Might get dirty taking a shower.
- Enlow (8/5): - Easy checkin. Friendly staff.
- Kent E (10/5): - Perfect place to explore the Big Horn Basin and Cody
- Rodney (8/5): All good - It’s an older place, but our room was really clean. He was cleaned every day and the trash was dumped. The lady running it is amazing. It is also close to a little bar that serves excellent food. No complaints here at all.
- barry (10/5): - The owner of this property was so friendly and welcoming - from the moment I walked in the door I felt like we were life long friends !! Highly recommended
- Taishu (6/5): - Property needs updates. Small bathroom even with two beds in the room. Overpriced compared to others in the area.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Uhhh, no - The facility was in desperate need of remodel, replacement, upgrade. Water from sink and the very small shower had a very foul odor. Carpet was very old and very dirty. Also, in general, it didn't feel safe.
- maria (10/5): - It's a cheap room. It was fine.
- Rey de jesus (10/5): - Nice place.
- Monica (8/5): - Clean room. Staff was very nice.
- Shaun (10/5): - There was a problem with the air conditioner and it was fixed easily. They are very personable and the rooms are big and clean. I would come back again.
- Anne (4/5): - The owner was very friendly and helpful. I was misled by other reviews. This property is old and rundown. The carpet was old and smelly. The room smelled and then there was an odor as if trying to cover the smell up.
- Marcia (4/5): - I wish I could give this a better rating. The owner was very kind. But it needs a major renovation. Carpet was gross. I had a hard time getting the shower to achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature. It just hasn’t had regular maintenance and updating. Location was good as you could walk to everything you needed.
- Crystal (10/5): - Great stay with great staff
- Wendell (4/5): - Un clean and in need of renovation!!!!!
- Earline (8/5): - This is an older, basic motel. It is clean with comfortable beds. No extravagances. If you are there on a weekend, there sre no restaurants nearby, but there is a refrigerator & microwave in the unit. The lady running it is very helpful & kind. And the price is better than most.
- Kevin (10/5): Pleasant stay - Very cute and cozy. Quiet environment. Owner was very gracious and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.
- David (10/5): - Simple clean quiet room. Good location. Owner was a pleasure to talk with.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable and Friendly - We got in pretty late on a Saturday evening and we could tell the staff was waiting for us before they could go home. Check in was quick and simple and parking was onsite. The room was nothing special but comfortable. We handed our key to the staff on our way out, very informal check out.
- Roger (10/5): - Very clean, friendly staff.
- Alan (8/5): - This is a family owned business, when you check in, you talk to the owner. She will be sure to ask about any special request you may have.
I always choose Cottonwood Cottages when i am in Basin.
- francis (2/5): Oh my! - Words can’t explain
- Mary (8/5): - Small and older, but were treated very nicely.
- Charles (8/5): Not a bad place. - This is a more than adequate for anyone needing to crash for a night after a long day's travel or work in the area (as I did). It is a bit dated but Basin doesn't get a whole lot of tourism. If you need a place to stay this will do. Very kind management.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I like nothing it was dirty and kept up I stayed there 15 years ago and it was great this time under new owners it is a slum hole dirty and nasty will never stay here again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property has a lot of potential, owners have a lot of plans for it. But for now it is below average. But the bed was brand new as were many of the furnishings in the room. Hopefully they'll keep up the good work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Simple, quiet, clean place to sleep. Don't expect any frills. Just a nice, clean place to sleep. Comfy beds and a hot shower. Perfect stop on the way to Yellowstone. We will stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Avoid at all costs. Old and gross. Carpet is decades old and smells like it. Little window unit AC couldn't keep up. Micro fridge was almost an antique. No ice machine. Calling this "cottages" is deceptive marketing. It's an old motel. Owner was extremely annoying. Kept bothering us and didn't pick up on social cues that we did not want to visit with her.
- Christine (10/5): Rustic room - The shower stall is tiny, the room was old, but the bed was comfortable.
- Langston (4/5): Give it a pass - Not well kept up. Wifi login system went down during the night. Over-priced for a rundown motel.
- Debra (10/5): Better than it looks - Once you get past the vaguely Bates Motel curb appeal, the place is actually totally comfortable. It's a great value jumping off point for Yellowstone if you don't mind getting up a little early.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was nice and helpful. My main suggestion is doing a good cleaning since there was much dust and spider webs all over the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly owner and overall a good sleep. It is an older strip motel and not cottages. Expect a comfortable bed and good sleep and you'll be fine.
- Tracey (4/5): - Only stayed 1 night as we were passing through on the way to Yellowstone. This is a very old motel but if they ripped out the carpets and replaced them it would be better. The good thing was it had a microwave and fridge. I would not stay longer than 1 night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great very clean little place to stay on our trip. Little older hotel but very clean and up kept.
- Lane (10/5): - Older motel but owner was wonderful. Kept clean with a very nice new bed that was the nicest made bed I have had in a long tme with nice sheets. Would stay again.
- Jackie (8/5): - Older hotel but was clean and owner was very friendly and helpful. For the price was worth the stay for one night as we traveled
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The manager made changing the reservation easy and was so pleasant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly owner. The motel building is old but over all comfortable and the room has basic stuff. Basin, WY is small and quiet town. If you need a place to rest for a night or two it is a good place. We will stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Manager very considerate and helpful. Owners are slowly renovating the property. It requires much updating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Verry good rate for the room. Nothing flash but very clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room smelled like smoke, which wasn’t surprising with an ashtray outside of every room and a gentleman sitting just outside our door smoking when we showed up. The shower was really small, and it was a little disturbing that the water glasses were set on the toilet tank. Our bedspread was ripped, and it was a little disturbing that there was a written admonishment to guests to pick up their dog feces. The manager was really nice though.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was not very clean the property was run down and the staff acted upset that i had a pet. The comment oh you have pets well i gave you the right room for that.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was clean and comfortable , staff was friendly . Bathroom was small ( about the size of a closet ) Older building .
- Y (8/5): - Place is very small and quiet, old lady who runs the place was kind enough to let us hang some stuff we needed to dry in the back of the inn. Also, she was always giving us some help on many other things. The property looks bit run down and small things in the room need fixing but it is kinda expected at this price point. Overall, I would like to visit this place again for the kindness of the lady who runs the inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff, avery good value.I will come back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful small property in Basin. The cottage was spotless and spacious. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is a little outdated and the showers are a little too small but it’s a good little place to stay at overall
- Amy (10/5): - Clean and very friendly owner. We enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - all is well........................................................................................................
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a good motel in a friendly, small town......pure and simple.......
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bed and bathroom were clean, just a little old, not looking very fresh. There was a smell of cleaning products in the room. The ventilator was smelling so bad that I couldn‘t use it
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The owner was very nice. The motel was disgusting. It needs to be gutted and completely renovated. Disgusting carpets makes a place feel dirty even if it's clean. Tiled floors would be much better!
- Emily (4/5): - The shower was tiny. The sink was mounted at my hip level and I'm short. The room only had the door handle lock which made me feel very unsafe. I'm pretty sure if I had tried I could've kicked the door in.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very old hotel. Beds are new. Carpet old and dingy. Nice TV. Junk cluttered outside motel. Locals live in hotel. Bathroom small and needs updating. Surprised to get a microwave and frig.
- C (8/5): - Cottonwood is a nice place off the interstate. Quiet & cozy. Only issues we had was after showering we realized towels smelled like cigarette smoke, even face clothes. During the night my daughter woke up with some type of insect bites.
- Alex (6/5): - Was on a long road trip. Needed a one night stay to rest. Was suffice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great week staying at cottonwood the room was nice and big very comfy living space had everything we needed. Fresh towels every day . was great we could log into our netflix on their smart tvs . had a great ac unit . comfy bed and pillows . cute small town with a cute park . we would for sure stay again.
- Robert (4/5): - Room was small and needed upgrading everywhere. Internet service was terrible at one bar. To be fair for the price it was OK and the service from the staff/manager was excellent. Restaurant at the main corner of town was excellent.
- Alicia Lynn (6/5): Exactly what we expected for the price. - Exactly what we expected for the price. Very small bathroom and second bedroom. The main bedroom was roomy enough. Both beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. Small string of about 10 units along the town’s main road. The manager was welcoming and informative about places to eat, etc...Needs lots of paint and love, but it served our needs
- Brad (10/5): - Older motel but well maintained. The motel owner was outgoing and personable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was small It could use up dating the repcinest was very friendly.
- Hiedi (6/5): - The room really was small (and the bathroom smaller), and there wasn’t much in the way of amenities or location. But the lady who runs the hotel is so so sweet, she really seem to care about my comfort and stay, one of the nicest people I’ve met.
- Carol (8/5): - Adequate for the three of us. Beds were quite comfortable. Bathroom a little small. Larger people would have trouble using the facilities. Nice central location for the things we were interested in doing during our stay in Wyoming.
- BOOGER (6/5): - My better half really liked the pillows. It has some age to it, and they are updating the rooms. But it is the best bang for your buck.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked this motel quite a bit. The place is very old, but the friendly staff and comfortable bed were just what the doctor ordered for the night. This IS NOT the Hilton: it's a MOTEL, so don't get your expectations high. However, the flat-screen TV and cable were working, the refrigerator/freezer kept our items cold (and re-froze the cooler inserts), the A/C worked fine (without high noise levels), etc.
Very friendly owner/clerk fixed the Expedia SNAFU without any undue stress and welcomed us personally when we arrived. She even spoke with the wife for hours (or what seemed like hours) about the motel, her family and what they were working on at the time (roof, painting, etc). The next morning, she was up early to make sure we had a comfortable stay and wish us well on the rest of the trip.
I would stay here again if I was in the area.
- Dan (10/5): - Very nice woman, helpful. Very satisfied of our overnight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy and Quiet - Very nice manager. Room was great. Wish we could've stayed longer.
- Danika (10/5): Great stay! - The host was extremely courteous and considerate considering we messed up and arrived way too late. The place was clean and well stocked. The price was really reasonable! The location is good! It had a fridge, microwave, wifi as well as a decent sized dining table.
- Bill (6/5): - Found some springtail bugs in the bathroom coming thru a crack in the window frame. The attendant came and sprayed, and we didn't see them any more. This bathroom window had no curtain, and one of our party was not comfortable using the bathroom, when someone could see in. The staff said that the window was too high to see in except with a ladder, however, not secure.
- Jack (2/5): - Sorry to report that this place is on life support. These are not cottages. It's a simple, rundown strip motel of 8 units with no identifying sign out front. Seems it's under new management. Their office seemed makeshift and the device used to scan my VISA was handheld little affair which I'd never seen before. Exterior needs some serious work done - painting and repairs.
Parking was very limited and mostly on the street, which is where we were. There were a couple of gravel spaces at the end of the building, but out of our line of sight.
The washroom was really small and in disrepair. There was a filthy medicine cabinet & sink, and unclean mirror & window. The shower was quite tight and the only place to put anything was on a small rack that hung from the showerhead pipe. Anything placed on it needed to be centered, otherwise the rack would shift on its fulcrum and the item placed in serious jeopardy of falling to the shower floor, and good luck with bending over in that shower to pick it up. The towel rack was similar in design. It also was unstable and moved whenever a towel was removed. Two hands were required. One to stabilize the rack and the other to remove the towel.
Fridge filthy and missing a shelf rack or two. Unclean windows. No Continental.
Pluses: Linens, towels and carpeting seemed normally clean. Everything worked. Has Wi-Fi. It was quiet and we slept well.
No fast foods in Basin that we noticed. Saw one fuel station.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's what you would expect from a 50 dollar hotel room!
- TAF (8/5): - it is out dated ,b ut the rooms were clean and comfortable. the price was right.
- Gilbert (2/5): HOT HOT NIGHT - We arrived at dusk and check-in was quick. Owner made a statement about a/c hoping it had cooled down in the room (outside temp was 98-100 degrees). We went to supper and returned to a hot room and no fan and did not feel safe leaving window open. It was a miserable night! I don’t expect much but a/c is a must!
- Deb (8/5): - Older motel but clean and comfortable. We'll come back.
