Guest Reviews
- Urs (10/5): Sehr saubere Zimmer - Absolut freundliches Personal.Frühstück wählbar Spiegelei Rührei od. 3min.Ei Speck inkl.
- Michael (10/5): Pet friendly hotel - Comfortable hotel with nice view. Easy short drive into Vaduz. Very pet friendly. Friendly staff.
- Gina (10/5): - The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs made to order. The room was very dated but clean and spacious. Great stay!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nothing but sleep over… - Worn down hotel. No option to buy food or sodas. Breakfast was ok with the choice of eggs.
- Lauren (8/5): - Our stay was wonderful. Staff was very nice and friendly. The hotel has a complimentary breakfast. Easy, free parking garage for guests, which is rare in Europe.
- Dawn (8/5): Friendly staff and comfortable room - We wanted to stay in Liechtenstein just because we've never been there. This hotel was just out of the main downtown and was in a quiet area. The manager was very nice and gave us a room that doesn't get too hot. The room and bed were quite comfortable and the breakfast was nice.
- MAURO (10/5): - Hotel in ottima posizione ben rggiungibile valido park molto pulito ottima colazione personale estramamente gentile e corretto ristorante suggerito splendido Ringrazio per il suggerimento del soggiorno. Estramamente vicino al Centro di Vaduz
- Trudy (10/5): - The staff is exceptional here. Easy check in and out. Very clean and friendly. Freshly cooked eggs for breakfast! Lovely balcony to sit and sit wine in the evening.
- Mark (10/5): - The room was very large, the bed was clean and the workers were so helpful. Great breakfast. The facilities need an update, but the bed was comfortable and after a LONG hike on the Liechtenstein trail, it was just what we needed.
Struttura stra-consigliata!
- Rane (10/5): Would definitely re-visit! - The design of the rooms is a bit outdated, but quite charming. The service was very good. They helped us with everything and even had time for a friendly chat during the breakfast.
- JANE (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Easy to park underneath in concrete carpark.
- NeilC2607 (8/5): Quaint family hotel - Reception:
Very friendly and helpful
Room / facilities:
Room number 116 is on the 1st floor and is clean.
There is no air conditioning but the balcony door opens fully.
The room has two single beds joined, 2 square feather pillows that provided me no support. The bathroom has a shower only (no tub) and the shower area is a bit dark as there is only 1 light over the vanity and the shower walls block the light.
Parking:
is available at no cost and the underground car park accommodates approx 10 cars.
Wifi:
Complementary and good speed. No validation or password required.
Breakfast:
Available and has limited pastries/ breads, tea and coffee upon request, eggs and bacon upon request, jams, limited cheese’s and sliced meats.
Conclusion:
Great peaceful location with fabulous hosts, awesome mountain views.
Letdowns:
Slightly tired rooms
Location / Nearby:
Bus stop at the end of the street, Vaduz town is 1.6 km away.
Getting to hotel:
If arriving by car, best use GPS.
- Susanne (2/5): Ekstremt skuffende - Beskidt køleskab/fryser som var slukket
Tomt køkken ... uden service og elkoger
4 bøjler til to personer
Udsigt ...manglede
Minibar ... manglede
Toiletartikler ... manglede
WIFI ikke sikkert og meget svagt
Bruseren faldt ned
- Lisa (10/5): - August checked us in and checked us out and all interactions with August were a pure pleasure. He is kind, thoughtful, helpful, interesting to talk with, patient with us English only speaking people. Great room, wonderful breakfast and kind lady there too. Highly recommend.
- Michael (10/5): - views
- George (8/5): Nice hotel with good mountain views. - I was lucky to have met a friendly local that took me to the hotel in her car. The hotel is difficult to find if you are a 1st timer to the Country. Basic instructions on how to get to the hotel would have helped. That said, a bit inconvenient if you do not have a car. Overall, my stay was okay. The breakfast buffet is adequate, and housekeeping was good. View from my room of the mountains in Switzerland was great. Took several photos of myself sitting on the balcony lounge chair looking that direction before departure. Explored Vaduz and nearby Balzers. Sleepy places to me, that is from someone living in a small USA town! So, if you are anticipating "action", you will be a bit surprised. I am not a casino fan, so I did not go to any in LI.
- henry (4/5): - Vaduz has litle attractions and the hotel is in an inconvient location and little facilities and not a resort hotel to enjoy, the breadfat was good.
- Philip (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Super convenient to get access to anything one wants to do here :). Really glad we came and we’ll definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful. the proprietor was so kind. He did not charge me for a drink I had from the minibar because I “did not eat breakfast” so called it even. Love that kind of hospitality!
- Ruud (10/5): - Vriendelijke mensen en erg gastvrij.
Auto parkeren in de garage.
Ontbijt simpel maar goed met verse broodjes en vleeswaren.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Nice big room with excellent views.
- Carol (10/5): - The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They were also vey knowledgeable about Liechtenstein.
- tammy (10/5): Travel is our life and this hotel is our favorite - This was the best hotel we stayed at during a 5 month trip around Europe. Excellent service, breakfast, rooms, staff, grounds. Theres literally grapevines geowing grapes off your balconies!! I would give thos place 20 stars if i could!!
- michelle (6/5): No Air-conditioning & its July - There was a large portable fan in the room (very noisy). Thankfully it rained about 3am so the tempurature finally got below 70°. We opened the patio door to cool the room down (Lovely patio w 2 chairs & a nice view). Unfortunately the room only has sheer curtains, so privacy is a bit of an issue if dark outside & lights on in room. Also, no coffee (hot pot) in room. However, I asked & they let me borrow one. Lastly, the electrical outlet is different than what we've been using in Austria & Germany & I only had one small plug converter that fit, so we had to keep alternating which device to charge (my bad, I should have researched this). Towels were soft. Bed was a bit hard but same across Europe. The main issue was the heat!
- Joe (8/5): - The staff were super friendly.
- Ioan (10/5): Great stay - Friendly staff
- Charles V (10/5): - Nice comfortable hotel . Awesome breakfast!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great views, but common areas smell heavily of cig - Great views, friendly staff, large rooms. Older property and the building smells of cigarette smoke, but thankfully the rooms didn’t.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay to tour Lichtenstein. Parking easy, even for our large SUV. Check-in was simple and by a most friendly gentleman. The room was spacious, especially for Europe and the balcony was a beautiful surprise. Location wss nice, in walking distance to city center.
- kathysonny (10/5): A wonderful hotel! - This was a fantastic hotel - clean, comfortable, well located, great shower, nice view from our room, and friendly staff. A wonderful breakfast was included. It is located in Triesen just outside Vaduz - within walking distance. Also free parking. Would stay there again if in the area so we highly recommend it.
- Alan (10/5): A wonderful hotel! - This was a fantastic hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast was included and was outstanding! It is located just outside Vaduz in Triesen - an easy walk into the capital city. We would definitely stay there again should we visit Liechtenstein again.
- João (10/5): Beautiful countryside Hotel - Beautiful stay at this amazing hotel the rooms are big the views are gorgeous and the balcony really agreeable! The staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is fabulous! Thank you very much we loved our visit
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were super friendly and suggested a great restaurant where I had a great meal ! Very clean and great view from balcony. Staff in the morning were very corteous at breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great day on the River!! Mighty fine !! May you laugh.
- 500petrinae (10/5): Great service - This was a comfortable place to stay for 3 nights after a long drive, the staff are very welcoming and helpful and breakfast was great! The space is clean and comfortable, we have no complaints and wish we could stay longer. Parking is not an issue and it is a short drive to great restaurants, there is no stress at Hotel Schlosswald - the shower is small but hey you only need to wash your body not live in there haha 😂 and the view is awesome 👏
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful views, the rooms were very clean and well maintained. I wish more windows were able to be opened for ventilation at night. The staff was wonderful and very helpful.
- homebythelake (10/5): Brief stayover - A clean and roomy well presented room with friendly staff who could speak English. Undercover parking was helpful in the inclement weather. Breakfast was included in tariff and was plentiful and fresh.
Bus at door to get into Vaduz. Also excellent views of Rhine Valley. Quiet location and elevator for 2nd floor rooms. Pity weather wasn't better to enjoy the balcony.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff , comfortable room. Only thing missing was a jug in the room but is that just an Australian expectation. undercover parking and bus stop at gate. breakfast provided fresh food and great coffee.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were very pleased and enjoyed the quiet hillside setting not far removed from Davos.
- Francine A (10/5): Loving Liechtenstein and Hotel Schlosswald - So happy to have found this hotel, its owner, and staff. This is not new property, so the rooms are of a spacious size, not common in newer hotels. Not only did our room have a large balcony, we were surprised to find it had a generously sized kitchenette. Owner, Mr. Kindle, was very generous with tourist info., obtaining restaurant reservations, and ordering transport. While we could have stayed in Vaduz, this location gave us a serene setting and spectacular Alpine views. Breakfast buffet has it all from lox to cooked-to-order eggs, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, and cheese. The views from the dining room are also amazing.
- lucb483 (10/5): Fabulous stay I Liechtenstein - The owner welcomed us at the reception. Very nice and friendly gentlemen. Room was amazing for 2 persons and dog.
Very comfortable beds. Large connected beds with separate quilts.
Bathroom was small but shower was great. Only missing is light in the shower itself.
Garden was a happy surprise.
Breakfast offered a her good selection with great choice of Swiss cheeses, eggs prepared to wish and a great view.
We will certainly be back here.
- Luc (10/5): - Excellent when you bring a dog. Very friendly people. Good selection for breakfast items. Owner is very informative. Would come gere again.
- Dominic (10/5): Clean, beautiful views, great breakfast - The hotel staff are the best, and accommodating in every way, we almost felt like family there. It is my second time at this hotel and will likely return in the future.
The breakfast is all local and freshly made. Freshly baked bread, rolls, croissants. As well as local cheeses, meats, yogurt (I recommend the wildberry yogurt.) Overall, very happy, and they even will provide you your own tea or coffee pots right to your table.
Our room had two balconies with amazing views of the alps. It was very clean, had comfy beds, and ample space for our things. Everything is as it should be.
- Missy (8/5): - Nice place, clean room and friendly staff. Wonderful views.
- brent (8/5): - A bit of a walk, 20 mins, to town. The room was comfortable. Great shower.fantastic view of Switzerland
Good covered parking. Tv had very few english stations. Cnn, msnbc, and bloomberg. Friendly staff
Breakfast ok. Small selection and ran out of food.9
- Rob (10/5): - This is the most relaxing holiday I’ve ever had. The hospitality, the view, the gracious kindness, all came together in this Alpine wonderland. The room was a wee bit small, but that only added to its coziness. The balcony and view completely made up for it.
- Joseph (8/5): - Everything was good at the hotel. However I was suggest that they build some shower doors around the shower has the entire bathroom was flooded when we took a shower stop in general the staff was very friendly and three environment I deal
- Peter (10/5): Nice hotel in the hearth of alps - This is really nice hotel with nice room. Their covered parking place was great as we experienced a lot of rain.
- Michael (10/5): Great breakfast and comfort with awesome views! - Great location and amazing views from our room as well as from the dining area! Eggs cooked to order and fresh coffee made this stay even more enjoyable.
- khiz678 (8/5): Great location, clean, comfy and customer friendly - The owner is a very kind, accommodating gentleman. The bus stops right in-front of the hotel entrance and even by walk, it is not more than 15 minutes away from the city center of Vaduz. The room was spacious with a small kitchen area and two private balconies. The room and the balconies had splendid views of the awe-inspiring landscape that surrounds Vaduz. The entire hotel was well kept and every thing was clean. The staff was very friendly.
- 393richard (10/5): Quiet, clean, comfortable... - Set on a hillside with stunning views of the Swiss Alps. The hotel is blissfully quiet, the owners are lovely, the breakfast buffet is very fine. The rooms are clean and comfortable and, for this expensive country, are very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
If you arrive by car there is loads of parking. A bus stop of the very efficient Liechtenstein post bus service is at the front door ( a small hill to walk); You can be anywhere in the Principality very quickly.
- Flying_Demon (10/5): PERFECT AND FRIENDLY HOTEL. - Stayed in Triesen whilst competing in 2017 Screwball Car Rally and booked this hotel on route. A privately owned and managed hotel set outside the city centre. Friendly welcome on arrival and shown to a spacious and immaculately clean room with a balcony with seating with a great view of the town and distant mountains. My friends and I convened in the bar to sample to local Liechtenstein beer and chat with the owner manager who offered a number of suggestions of places to eat and even called the restaurants for us. In the end and with the owners consent we sent out for pizza's from a recommended restaurant and ate these in the bar and must be one of the best pizza's I have ever eaten. Breakfast the next morning was equally fantastic, tasty and plentiful. Great hotel and host, thoroughly recommended.
- Bruce (10/5): Great Hotel - Great location close to Vaduz and friendly and helpful people.
- okafnurse (10/5): A perfect hotel for our visit to Liechenstein! - What a pleasant surprise to find this hotel, it's inbetween Valduz and Triesen. It's a quick trip up the mountain for superb hiking! And without reservations, Herr August and his wife did everything to accommodate our needs. Herr August found us a great room with a balcony (Room 222) away from road noise yet convenient for breakfast and trips to the City. The hotel was spotless, had a very comfortable bed and small bath. This hotel is above average for European standards. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would return again.
- Declan (10/5): Close to city - Great parking, breakfast and friendly staff that were very helpful. Ideal spot to explore Vaduz and Liechtenstein.
- 294marcela (10/5): Very good hotel to stay for a weekend or just on route - Beautiful view on the mountains, very clean and functional hotel. Breakfast was great, service was brilliant. WiFi works fine, rooms are bigger than average, all with balcony.
Hotel has no restaurant for dinner, only for breakfast. Having dinner nearby is no problem, enough choice within minutes.
Recommended place to stay for a night or a weekend. We will come back here!
- lindsey (8/5): Decent, but lacks restaurant - The hotel isn't bad, but it doesn't have its own restaurant and you have to walk down a rather steep hill to get to the next hotel over to eat. Breakfast is served at the hotel, though and is quite reasonable. The staff seem to be quite, but happy to help. The room was of good size, with a fairly comfortable bed. Good view out of the full length windows. Bathroom was small and the shower was dark and tiny. If I wasn't slender getting into it would have been a problem. The shower entrance is a diagonal cut from the square walls of the shower. There is a bus stop just at the bottom of the hill and it's an easy straight shot into the capital city.
- BigbadW (10/5): Stayed there a few days. Very nice. - The hotel is simple, contemporary and clean. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but the breakfast buffet...mmm. Having breakfast with a spectacular view over the Rhine valley over to the Swiss mountains, priceless. I'd stay there again!
- landinitravels (10/5): Great place to rest after a day of traveling! - This hotel was very accommodating and comfy, especially traveling with a 7 month old! We got a crib and our bed was so comfortable! The rooms are extremely roomy, which is nice compared to these small hotel rooms in Europe. The service was excellent and they let us borrow adapters. We didn't eat the breakfast but appreciated the free hotel parking! Would definitely stay again!
- VJOH (6/5): Quiet place - Came here by car , the hotel has a garage so you could go directly up to the reception. The hotel was al little bit old-fashioned but clean with spacious room. Breakfast could have been better. Think that this hotel is a little bit overpriced.
- 931PaulM (8/5): Very welcoming, lovely views, a little overpriced - The hotel is easy to find on the road out of
Vaduz as it is well signposted. The hotel has a garage for parking which is easily accessed, although with all of the pillars in the garage you need to be somewhat careful when driving around in the garage.
Reception is signposted from the garage, but the corridor from the garage to the lift is in desperate need of decoration. It is a little off-putting if this is the first sight you have of the interior of the hotel.
The lift takes you straight to reception and after the garage it is a relief to see that elsewhere the hotel has been looked after. The reception is bright and welcoming.
We were met by the owner of the hotel who was very hospitable and spoke very good English. The check-in was very informal, a quick form to fill in and we were handed our keys and given directions to our room.
The corridor leading to our room was spotlessly clean, although bland in its decor.
Our room was easily found and accessed, although there did not seem to be any help in getting luggage to our room.
The view from the room was lovely, and there was a little verandah available to sit out and enjoy the view.
The bed was very comfortable and the bedding of decent quality. There could have been a couple of extra pillows, but those that were there were comfortable.
The television was good, with an extensive choice of channels.
The minibar was reasonably stocked, and unusually for a hotel minibar was actually reasonably priced.
The bathroom, however, was in desperate need of a refresh. There were no cracked tiles, broken lights or sockets, or anything particularly unpleasant. In fact, it was well-maintained and spotlessly clean, but it had a 1970s feel about it. It was decorated in orange tiles, and was poorly lit, with the shower actually being quite dark when the shower curtain was pulled across.
The towels were of good quality, although they could have been better placed, being behind the doorstep the opposite end of the bathroom to the shower.
The bar at the hotel was pleasant and the time we had in the bar was spent having a pleasant conversation with the friendly owner.
The breakfast room is bright and well-lit and there are some lovely views to be had. The food on offer is a little limited, but what there is of decent quality and there should be something available to suit everyone's taste.
Overall a very pleasant hotel, but it did feel a little over-priced for what it was offering.
- 10vil (6/5): Nice location, friendly and ok - Hotel locate just outside of Vaduz, at Trieste. Easiest way to reach the hotel without car is the bus 21 or 22 from Vaduz centre. It took few minutes from the Vaduz post to Trieste Mainhof bus stop, which is very near of the hotel. If you like to visit on mountain areas Triestenberg or Malbun (line 21), busses are very handy way to reach them. Hotel itself is little bit outdated, but room was spacious and location beautiful. Personnel of the hotel was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average quality.
- AntonioJulioNegro (4/5): For the value I got, it’s seriously overpriced. - Admittedly, the period before Christmas is not the very best to come to Vaduz. Most hotels are closed, so was the Sonnenhof. So I booked this one, located outside of the town, near to the quite frequented road to Trieserberg and Malbun. It’s a quite basic hotel, a bit worn out, with friendly personnel. My room on the first floor was not large, but had a spacious balcony. The bathroom was very small and very dull, with scarce lighting.
The bed was ok, but a bit short. The restaurant was closed, an unpleasant surprise for a business traveller arriving late in the evening. I got some sandwiches and a bottle of water …
For the value I got, it’s seriously overpriced.
- Mig317RO (6/5): Ok - Hotel pretty modest actually, but very clean.
Personnel kind and helpful.
Good location, quiet, nice view.
Underground parking.
Internet ok.
Breakfast ok.
Overall nothing really bad about it, just maybe a bit overpriced for what it offers.
- Piccola_Oliva (6/5): Overpriced, but beautifully located - I have just returned from a weekend in Liechtenstein, having spent two nights at the Schlosswald. The hotel is simple, clean, and well located - slightly off the main road, a 20 minute walk from the centre of Vaduz, with beautiful mountain views. The bedroom was basic, but perfect for a good night's sleep and it had a lovely balcony. The hotel was overpriced, but that was to be expected considering how expensive the area is in general. In any case, the hotel staff were extremely charming and very helpful.
- ThisReviewersDaBest (10/5): nice, quiet, a little old fashioned - Nice, quiet hotel. The staff were very helpful and happy to recommend a place for us to go for dinner up in the mountains in Malbun (a lovely drive straight up for about 20 mins!)
The hotel itself is old fashioned...and comfortable. Breakfast was fine...and we enjoyed our stay.
- Nudeflyer (8/5): Very pleasant hotel - This is a very nice family run hotel. The hotel is clean and well-presented and the staff are excellent. The breakfast room is very nice and the breakfast itself is a good average continental.
Is the hotel overpriced? Perhaps, but it is an expensive area. I was happy to pay and felt that we had value for money.
