- Katharine (8/5): - Conveniently located hotel. Nice courtyard parking nearby for a fee. Room was large- nice to hear cathedral bells ringing. Kitchen was outdated and we couldn’t figure out coffee ma hone but didn’t need it as shops and cafes just steps away we are on top floor- narrow staircase
- Paul (10/5): - Sarlat is a beautiful city, and La Villa des Consuls is an equally beautiful hotel. It has everything: wonderful/helpful staff, brilliant location, excellent service, and great breakfast. Staying at La Villa des Consuls made our visit to Sarlat and the surrounding area memorable.

- Kenneth (6/5): - The hotel or rather gite was different from our expectations .On the positive side, the hotel is centrally located in the old medieval center of Sarlat and the room had a terrace overlooking the main pedestrian street and had character. Negatives were difficulty in access, vleaning requiring an additional charge, and an oddly configured room. The gitei is for the more adventuresome.
- Sofia (10/5): - Great location amd comfortable apartment on the ground floor. Balcony over the main street was an unexpected plus. If you come by car note you cannot get close to the hotel and need to park on Av Charles de Gaulle. Also suggest staying Saturday morning where the whole ciry is taken over by an incredible market selling food, souveniers and many things.
- James (10/5): - We had an veranda and it was amazing view and ambiance. The hotel is clean and perfectly situated right in town. We were disappointed that we only stayed 2 nights. Hotel aside, what really clinched it for me to cause me to write this review was the service. I had forgotten my laptop and immediately the cleaning staff notified us but we were already on our way to Paris. The hotel then helped coordinate the laptop to be shipped back to Canada for me and kept me in the loop the whole process. Valentin - thank you for making a stressful situation much simpler! Highly recommend the staff and the hotel, I hope to be back one day.

- Cindi (10/5): - We stayed in the new Cary Grant suite, which was beautiful! A kitchenette and large living space with a large bedroom and bathroom, an amazing view, and a lovely private patio looking out over a koi pond. It was perfect. The location is great but it does require ascending two steep inclines to get to the room. Service, however, was lacking and communication was poor. Breakfast was not at all worth the modest 11E charge. We had breakfast twice in our 5 day stay and both times there was just dry bread to be toasted, dry and uneatable little pastries, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt (which was very good). No housekeeping, trash collection, or fresh towels during the entire stay. We saw 3 staff members during the stay but no one introduced themselves so I'm still not sure who we could have asked for anything. One woman, who may have been a cleaner, sat outside and chain smoked quite a bit. Other than her, the other two gentlemen we saw were polite but just not forthcoming with information. We parked in the recommended garage, but please know that it is several blocks away from the hotel. Overall, the space itself was incredible though and Sarlat is a fabulous place to visit and in a perfect location along the Dordogne Valley for seeing this beautiful corner of France.

My only complaint is that although the bedroom and separate living area has good room darkening draperies, the bathroom had a sheer window covering. We could see people walking one the street below through them, so we knew they could also see us with the light on, so we couldn't dress or shower in there during hours with din lighting.

- Andy (10/5): - La Villa des Consuls is located in the heart of old Sarlat, with all the amenities that entails. The staff is nice and helpful, putting us in touch with a great guide and setting up our taxis to and from the rail station. Breakfast is tasty and reasonably priced, but above all, our two bedroom room was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful. It also included a usable kitchen and a small balcony overlooking the main commercial street. Despite that, it was quiet. I highly recommend this hotel.

As mentioned by others the parking garage available for a daily price is a few blocks away but overall not a huge inconvenience. We would definitely stay there again if in that area.

The location is fantastic ,however if you struggle to walk this is not for you as which ever way you approach the hotel you have a steep walk. If you have a car reserve a parking space with them as parking is not easy to find. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable and the staff at reception very helpful

- Neeta (8/5): - This is a good property in the heart of the historic district of Sarlat. We had great support from Valentin and Clois when we were there. The room was in the attic with a small kitchenette, which we used for breakfast 2 of the days that we were there. We needed a property with a garage and booked one with them. What we did not realize that this was a several minute walk from the property itself. There also was no convenient place to bring up the car to unload luggage since there was a fair going on. Once we parked in the garage successfully, we had to haul our luggage ourselves from the garage to the hotel and then up 3 flights of spiral stairs to our room.

- Jeffrey (8/5): Nice place, good location, tough find - Rick Steves recommends this apartment, and once we were there, it’s easy to see why. Sophie gave us good suggestions for activities. Our room was large, but we did have loud upstairs neighbors, enjoying the night life into late hours. Also, be aware that there are three streets to have in mind when arriving Sarlat. First is the street where the parking garage is located. Take the advice in the email they will send you, and park there immediately on arrival. But also be aware the “little door” is a personnel sized door next to a large double-wide garage door. You will use a code to get through the little door, and then find the button that raises the garage door. Then there is the “main drag” through town that fronts the apartment. Very tough to find parking, which is why you may not want to plan on stopping right near the apartment to unload luggage. Only try it if you have several large bags. If you have a carry-on size and a purse or backpack, garage it first. And then the third “street” really isn’t a street you can drive on. It’s up a ramp just off the main drag. You walk up the ramp and through a gate to get to the office. We tried using Google maps in our phones to walk from the garage to the office and it got us lost. Look for the ramp off the main drag.

Parking is in a secured garage approx 7 mins walking distance away for a fee.

She helped get me in contact with the correct people to get into a historical building unavailable to the public. I stayed in the topmost room “Fenelon”. There are plenty of outlets, hit water, and plenty of room. Be prepared to lug your luggage around a few medieval streets. It’s so worth it though.

The property is historically old, but has been beautifully reformed, with spacious bedroom and bathroom. Someone with mobility issues may have struggled with the stairs to our room. It's location in the old town is perfect for sightseeing & restaurants.
- Anthony (2/5): SCAM ALERT - Villa des Consults refused us entry to our room in our guaranteed pre-paid reservation and kept our money. We booked a 2-night stay, and when we arrived, the hosts were not there during their posted business hours. We called and they came about 10 minutes later as we waited outside, and they yelled at us incessantly as they approached. The yelling did not cease, and they continued to tell us they cancelled our reservation and were obstinate to any reason. I hoped to minimize emotional damage to my wife and child and told the hosts "Enough", if they wouldnt give us our room, we would find one somewhere else. Not worth the fight. I thought, later on, of course they will refund our money. They didn't. The entire experience tainted and ultimately spoiled our stay in Sarlat-la-Caneda. We had to spend extra time to find a hotel at the last minute, and the unprecedentedly rude treatment was quite jarring. These people are not professional in the least. Add to that how hard they were to reach afterwards when us and our booking agency tried to call them, they are only open a couple hours of the day and still then often aren't there during their posted business hours. It is a shame because we had such a wonderful trip throughout many other towns and accommodations across France. I recommend France, the Dordogne Valley, and even Sarlat - but steer clear of this bait and switch.

- David (10/5): Spacious! - We absolutely loved our stay in Sarlat. We stayed in the Medici suite. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and right in the middle of town. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Note, there is no laundry on site, but a 5 minute walk takes you to the laundromat. The highlight of the trip was a canoe trip on the Dordogne. Don't miss this experience if you have a chance.

We are middle-aged and fit, so I would add that for someone with limited mobility this might not be the right place. Getting there requires a climb either up or down cobblestone ramps/stairs. Remember to reserve if you want breakfast.

Good sized private garage a couple of hundred yards from hotel worth paying extra for. This would have been the Saturday market. We opted for that and left our bags in hotel , This is a cosy little hotel , quiet, good location in middle of Sarlat , I would describe this as an upmarket B&B , super room , friendly atmosphere. Would recommend.
