Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointed - Toilet was slightly dirty, which is not acceptable especially during the current pandemic. Room was dingey and walls dirty, decor in bathroom particularly poor. One tap very stiff to turn. Annoyingly woken in middle of night by loud people around. Not a decent overall stay and we wouldn't stay again, nor recommend it.
- william (8/5): A nice place, friendly staff - Overall it was a pleasant stay, the food was ok albeit a bit dearer that it should be.. but we had no complaints...
would we stay again, yes I think we would.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property was a delightful pub. With rooms situated just off from the pub. Very clean and tidy. Great to go and have dinner in the pub. Breakfast was a continental style and plenty. Only down side was cars are allowed to park with headlights facing into the room. When they leave after you have gone to bed. But doesn’t disturb you for long.
Would recommend, and return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A Night Away - It was good value for money although the room was clean it was in need of a spruce up.
The food was really excellent and the breakfast very very good 😊
- T (6/5): Hotels.com double booked me and didn’t tell me. - Didn’t stay here. Hotels.com double booked me and didn’t tell me. I arrived at 1900 to be told they told Hotels.com they had no rooms but I wasn’t informed.
Shocking service. Be warned.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place with lovely food, choice of drinks, lovely outdoor space with lots to do! Rooms are comfy, clean and welcoming
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely place in a lovely little village.
Had a good nights sleep. Room was clean and welcoming. Would definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice location for this country pub/hotel/accomadation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Proper pub with great staff and good food. The room was clean and adequate for our stay
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect! - We only had a single night stay here but found the place to be spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Love the decor - an unusual blend of traditional and industrial. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Liked it had parking and very convenient location. Thought the place was very well maintained and employees were very helpful.
- Liz (4/5): Total disappointment - The standard rooms need a lot of work. I stayed in room 7, the entrance light doesn’t stay on long enough to unlock the door to the room, the kettle was full of limescale with no filter in the nozzle, the mattress was lumpy, the shower head was ancient and covered in orange build up from being old/not cleaned thoroughly. I can see the owners have tried, there were biscuits in the room etc but the above all needs addressing. the Furniture was very cheap. I had stayed in a hotel in Bath the night before for just £9 more that was incredible and included a roll top bath, the difference is huge.
Service in the restaurant was pretty poor, college girls stood chatting about dating and nights out, clearly no manager on site, and had to ask to be served. I ordered the Nasi Goreng. It came in a small frying pan which was near impossible to eat out of without spilling the dish everywhere. It’s an Indonesian dish, a bowl would have been better. The food was nice but very greasy.
I woke up at 6am because the walls were so thin so I got up and got on my way, I left at 7:30 but the pub was closed and no instructions were given on what to do with the key if this was the case so I just had to leave it in the room door. It would have been good to explain my dissatisfaction to someone at check out so hopefully this place can improve but there was no one around.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and comfortable accommodation. Rooms could do with upgrade, especially bathroom facilities. Breakfast very good.
- Chris (10/5): - room was quite small but adequate, heating wasn't turned on but once I turned on the radiators room warmed up very quickly, staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel was very easy to find and very close (5 mins) to my son in Fleckney. We would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyable experience. Room was a little different that the standard hotel room, which I really liked. Staff were helpful and friendly
- Lisa (8/5): - Fantastic rooms and a lovely little pub in a quiet village outside Leicester. The deluxe room was lovely (although not very well soundproofed), and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
- Rowland (10/5): We would use it again - Excellent country pub with good food and most pleasant staff. A few rooms at the back arranged in a courtyard which provides secure parking for guests. Rooms are clean, warm, and well equipped. It’s not five star hotel accomdation, but great for a night away, or as in our case to break a long journey from the south coast to Yorkshire.
- Lavinia (10/5): Lovely Stay - Amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Staying at the Pug and Greyhound - A pleasant and comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really convenient location just off the A6 south of Leicester, clean comfortable rooms in what looks like an old stable block - adequate continental breakfast - great friendly staff
- Matt (10/5): - Lovely place to stay!
- Sarah (8/5): - Wonderful staff , very charming room. There were a few plumbing issues such as a noisy dripping tap, faulty shower door and others but I mentioned this on my departure and the manager said he would get it attended to, if he does then it would be great.
- samantha (10/5): Fantastic stay - Fantastic hotel and very accommodating, room was clean and comfatable. Was situated in a lovely quite location. Food was excellent and will be staying again. As I was travelling along I asked if I could eat in my room which in pubs they do not normally allow however, they was so accommodating and served me food to my room.
- richard (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely stay, room nice and comfy. Nice food at the pub and friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service every time
I have been here even if just for a drink or food
- Sue (8/5): Great place to stay - Clean room, nice staff, good food. Only negative was the rooms are in a courtyard setting (off the car-park) and can be a little noisy during the evening and early hours.
Overall very good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight Stay - It was a lovely pub and they were friendly. The room was good although the decor not to my taste the bed was clean and comfortable.
The toilet was not clean and the shower very small. The continental breakfast was good.
- Lesley (8/5): - Very pleased with our stay, great welcome from helpful and friendly staff. Only criticism would be that guests were offered free continental breakfast, but had to pay for a cooked breakfast which cost the same as the continental one, or a little more. Shouldn’t it be right that the cost of continental should be deducted from cost of cooked? Other than that, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Ivan (8/5): Nice old Pub with character and history - Friendly staff, nice quite clean room with beverages and biscuits.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great to have a drink and meal and then relax without worrying about getting home
- taffy (6/5): Nice pub with good food on menu and drink - Hotel room small and basic but adequit for short stay
- Simon (8/5): Great little place to stay - The room was basic and a little tired, but good enough for my needs, comfortable bed, decent shower etc
The pub is great, fantastic atmosphere, superb food, I really enjoyed myself and looking forward to a return trip in September.
- Craig (10/5): Great Inn - Good location in lovely English village stereotype setting. Great food and beer. Friendly locals and staff. Well priced accommodation. Would go back again if in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel - The room was lovely and modern. Staff were all fantastic and the breakfast was nice.
Extra benefit was having the pub nice and close.
- Peter (8/5): May Bank holiday stay - We found the Pug & Greyhound a pleasant stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Would certainly use them again in future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed as was attending a funeral, staff were friendly and helpful
- Ian (8/5): Cosy Accomodation - Motel style accomodation which was good but needing a bit of work. Pub was great with nice food.
- Kevin (10/5): Fits the bill - Stopped a few times very good value clean rooms
The only small gripe is the tv the freeview keeps loosing the picture sort that then 10/10
- Jack (6/5): - Pub is lovely. Nice food/ atmosphere.
Room... Not so good. Needs new mattress, curtains, furniture etc. TV didn’t work.
A bit disappointed.
Breakfast pastries were stale.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed here for business, but will definitely he'd back as part of a couple break and with friends.
- Charles (6/5): Poor welcome at pug and greyhound - Discrepancy between what we saw on picture and the room offered
- Trevor (8/5): Stay at Pug and Greyhound - Clean and comfortable. Staff friendly, good value for money. Will stay again.
- Diane (10/5): Good hotel accommodation - Very pleasing stay. Late arrival after closed, but staff stayed on until I arrived to book me in, and were very polite.
Room was basic but very clean and had all amenities. Bed very comfortable.
Continental breakfast was plentiful. Staff again were very polite and helpful.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and will book again in the future.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Nice country location, friendly staff - Nice pub accommodation, we had a couple of problems, the tv didn't work so moved and upgraded to a suite which was very nice but unfortunately there was a problem with the bath, when I let the water out it poured into the rooming down the drain, wetting some of our clothes which was unfortunate but it was very quickly rectified, we would still recommend staying here, we were just a bit unlucky. We did think the drinks very expensive, £6.60 for a glass of house wine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A very confusing stay! - I am very confused about this stay. It’s in a good location or a very good location for what I needed anyway. I checked in late and the check-in was straight forward although I was given no details about breakfast or WiFi etc. I got the room and it was lovely with a big bath so I treated myself to one. I checked my booking to find that there should have been a continental breakfast box in the room which there wasnt. I overheard a member of staff telling another guest that breakfast was served in the back bar. I tried to have a shower in the morning but the shower worked intermittently. I Left the room at 0700hrs to have breakfast and check out only to find the pub shut and no sign of life so I posted the keys and left hungry. A bit disappointed.
- Tim (8/5): Nice stay - Very nice stay helpful staff clean and comfortable would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Overnight at the Pug - We booked this hotel to stay in while we were visiting friends and choose this as we are trying to support smaller hotels/chains. The pub was friendly and busy. The food looked great although we didn't eat there as we already had other plans. Our room was in a separate building. The room was tidy and did the job, the water pressure was great so our morning shower was superb! Breakfast was a nice continental style, help yourself type and was nice with plenty of choice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful pub and hotel with modern rooms, cozy - I wish I had been able to stay longer at this cozy roadside inn and pub! Something to know, though, is that some of the modern rooms are in a renovated garage in the rear parking lot. I heard a bit of the movement of the neighbors but they didn't stay up late so no problem. Overall I rate the place very highly and would definitely recommend. What I really missed out on was the pub atmosphere--I got in too exhausted to hang out!
- Jonathan (8/5): Business Trip - Good location, with nice pub facilities
- Kevin (10/5): Excellent pub, rooms, food and drink - great value - Lovely room, comfortable bed, great shower. Easy and free parking, beautiful old pub with excellent food and drink. Dog-friendly, too ! Highly recommended and we will be staying there again.
