Guest Reviews
- Leo (10/5): 3 week stay at alura - Alura apartments are in an ideal location right beside the tram line (stampede station) it has a drug mart just up the street and a couple of small grocers in its local proximity. The concierge staff is really nice and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay
- Kotchikpa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcel (1/5): Bad -
- Marsha (4/5): Nothing ‘Executive’ about this place - Disappointing Experience at Monk-Di Executive Suites-Alura
From the start, the owner’s communication was abysmal. Despite arriving at a very reasonable hour (5 PM), we had no way to get into the unit. Multiple attempts to reach the owner went unanswered, leaving us stranded and frustrated in the cold.
When we finally managed to access the suite (from a stranger letting us in the building), we had to wash all the dishes - lip stains on them—completely unhygienic and unacceptable for a supposed “executive suite.”
Despite this, we went out of our way to leave the place cleaner than we found it, only to be completely ignored when requesting the return of our $500 damage deposit.
Today is day 3 with no response, which is both unprofessional and unethical to not respond at all.
The booking site has been helpful and is monitoring the situation.
I would not recommend Monk-Di Executive Suites-Alura to anyone. Especially those looking for an ‘Executive Suite’ - the unit and its furnishings are far from Executive. The lack of communication, poor cleanliness, one shared key and struggle to get damage back make this experience one I’d prefer to forget.
Save yourself the hassle and book elsewhere.
- Christopher (4/5): Disappointing - Location & view No Hot water for showering during my 3 night stay !!
- Oluwatobi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadya (8/5): Comfortable and well equipped apartment, thank you! - Location was great for work. I liked having the balcony, and the apartment had everything that was needed. No complaints there at all. It was super clean and comfortable. I thought the decor was not great. There was a request to not have any luggage on the carpet, but then we had to keep our suitcases in the kitchen and they were in the way. There wasn’t enough space at the entrance to keep our luggage. A luggage rack in the main part of the apartment would have been a good idea in this case like in many hotels.
I also never like the anonymity of these stays, I feel it impersonal. I understand people not wanting to deal with “staff” but I always appreciate a more personal touch. Even a quick phone call to make sure everything is ok is all that is needed.
- Ella (10/5): - The property was close to many amenities and easy to locate. One suggestion I would make would that extra sheets and towels be provided. However, I would stay again!
- Simon (8/5): All was well. Instructions to get in need to be updated as there is a keypad outside the building that does not get you - Awesome location. Great view Some homeless near the location
Tough to see.
Unexpected damage deposit was requested hours before check in. This was not made clear when booking
- Mary (9/5): would have liked another day...but apparently was booked - location great communication with property management re: getting keys... could have had them earlier if the process was explained better... Sat around for a few hours waiting...
- Yin (9/5): An ideal apartment to stay for any holiday - It’s got perfect sunrise view
Comfy bedroom
Kitchen and dining room are well equipped
Located close to downtown center and couple of supermarkets nearby so super convenient; with couple of good restaurants just round the corner absolutely good for jet lag days Location

- Zongxun (8/5): Quite good. - The location, the view, the living environment, nice kitchen, etc I hope the landlord may provide more bedding stuffs.
- Amy (10/5): - Fabulous property with all amenities, great location and view, all for incredible value
- Sofia (3/5): Poor -
- Charlie (10/5): Perfect location for the Calgary stampede! - Great location for the stampede and lovely hosts who were very accommodating.
- Darlene (8/5): - Great location - very limited basics available in cupboards for cooking.
- Sarah (10/5): - Loved how close property was to stampede, mall, bars and restaurants. Would definitely recommend
- Doug (10/5): Highly recommend - Location was perfect for the activities we had planned It was all good
- Yury (2/5): Very poor -
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jakub (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth Ann (6/5): - I certainly left it cleaner than I found it. It look 3 mugs before I got a clean one, the utensils still had food on them in the drawer. I had to buy dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent, fabric softener, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towel. There were two bath towels and two face cloths, no hand towel. I had to do laundry everyday to have clean towels and face cloths. I felt guilty with the request to reduce water usage! There wasn’t event a bottle of water in the fridge. Rugs are so gross, flooring needs an update. Sofa was horrible to sit on and get off, no legs.
Now the positive:
Very safe, great to have Landry in suite, ug parking was great, concierge was great. View was great. Bed was very comfortable. Very walkable! Location was great.
- Madhavan (9/5): Lovely apartment, 10-12 minutes walk to St. Stephen avenue - The location was good, the views from the 22nd floor were exceptional, the various amenities were clean and well organized. Nothing really; one minor challenge was inability to access the fitness center, which was resolved after 2 of days (out of total 3 days of stay)
- Sherry (8/5): 14th floor apt monki-di calgary - The apartment was clean but the bedroom felt cramped. The bed was comfortable though.
The couch was uncomfortable and low. We had no hot water to speak of. Having a 10 minute shower we were lucky to get any warm water.
There are a lot of rules to follow with hefty fines if the rules were not followed.
- Aimee (8/5): - It was great! Homey and comfortable, the ac didn’t seem to work super well but we made do!
- Michael (10/5): - Great trip to Calgary
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (2/5): - Ac didn't work. No wifi. Hard to get into
- Lisa (10/5): Not bad for the money. Will be back again. - Very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay and have decided to make it the prime stay for comic con in Calgary. As a bodybuilder who’s on prep, it was disheartening to know that I couldn’t use the gym.
- Ben (7/5): Good -
- Don (8/5): It was good I’ll stay there again - I didn’t eat breakfast All cooking utensils and things were there. There was some coffee but no sugar no salt and pepper so it’s good to have everything for the occupants to cook their own food but for them to go buy salt pepper sugar, mustard ketchup, Gets rather expensive and then you have to travel with it or leave it there I left cream, sugar, but it would’ve been nice if it was there already the cream I understand would go bad but salt, pepper and sugar would have been nice. Otherwise it was very good.
- Arun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoffrey (9/5): For the purpose of my visit, the property was excellent both in facilities and location. - There was no breakfast—it wasn’t part of the deal. There were plenty of breakfast options nearby, however. The checking out process was a little complicated but I understand what the property owner was trying to do.
- Kwun (2/5): Won’t come back for the next time. Too many regulations. Ask guest to help clean up the bed. - Good location in the downtown. Highly accessible . With one underground car parking Not clean. Coffee maker is dirty seems no one clean it up. Poor quality of bed. Bed is small for two people . Just a double size. Hard to find host to get check in Information. Floor is dirty and we found some chip on the floor. Bathroom too dark.
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (9/5): Superb - The property was safe, and clean
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina-marie (6/5): Good location in the city. - The location was good. The apartment was a good size. There was no sofa bed, it was a wide couch and there were no sheets for the couch.
Also, there was a $500 deposit for the apartment. There was only 1 towel each and the apartment had stains all over the carpet.
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (8/5): Our stay was enjoyable and met our needs. - It’s proximity to down town and easy access to shopping. My daughter thought the gym was awesome I thought the linens could be a bit more luxourious. Not thin old towels and bedding for the pullout sofa were mismatched and worn. Hotel quality would be nice. Also for an older traveller a grab bar for entering the shower would be nice. A couple of wine glasses would have been nice.
- Tara (9/5): Loved our time in Calgary at this excellent accommodation - Great apartment with everything we needed including outstanding laundry facilities and gym. Loved the location and view.
- Warren (10/5): handy location, walkable distance to restaurants and groceries, easy free underground parking - Very clean, coffee available, soap and hair tools in bathroom Checkout was a little unclear so we had to call but were able to reach them within 2 minutes
- Shishodia (9/5): Superb -
- Eburuche (10/5): Exceptional -
- ZHENRONG (10/5): - Nice place to stay, will book again if there is trip to calgary
- Soulphear (8/5): Very good - Location was Great! Too many steps to check in and out. Not enough Garbage bags. Not clear instructions for Recycle Disposal.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb -
- Oyindamola (3/5): Poor -
- Robert (8/5): Nice cozy little spot -
- Jongsun (10/5): - Thanks a lot. I will book it again definitely.
- Kiana (6/5): - Great view from the balcony. Unfortunately there wasn’t access to the gym as advertised. A lot of homeless people in the area which made walking around a little uncomfortable.
- Lloyd (8/5): Our stay was very good we had a good time close to the stampede made it very good. - The kitchen could use some new pots and pans, can opener, dish soap, more tea towels and bath towels needs some new light bulbs some burnt out.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Great location to Calgary Stampede
- Jenny (3/5): I will not stay in this unit ever again. I have stayed in the same building in the past with airbnb. - He was late. Which stressed me out as I had a meeting to attend My co-worker slept on the pullout couch. We were provided sheets (which had blood stains on them by the way, very gross!) No blanket was provided. I sent a text message to the host who did not respond. Broken chair on the deck. Not safe! The carpets were dirty. The only positive comment I can provide was was that there were lots of hangers in the closet.
- Gregor (9/5): Superb -
- Sawsan (10/5): I live in the place for three days the place was very clean. Nice quite the owner of the place he’s very friendly and he - The place and area are quiet and clean
- Adam (9/5): Great location and stay while visiting Calgary - The location was perfect in Calgary. Next to the Saddle Dome and walking distance around downtown. Room was clean and comfy. No blackout curtain in the bedroom.
- Simpson (5/5): It was ok - it was cost effective. - Location suites our needs. Towelling needs replacing. Roller blind on bedroom window did not block out morning light. (Living room blinds were darker than bedroom ) There was a problem with water , limited Tv & wifi signal bad. Poor contact with management - too slow to respond/ resolve issues. Definitely need to work on service to the guest. Security was good.
- Nick (10/5): - Very good experience. Everything is great
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Dana (10/5): - Our stay in Calgary was excellent. All check in and out instructions were clear and the hosts were very prompt with responding to any questions that we had.
The unit is lovely, very clean and organized. It is ideal for pairs and boasting a stunning view of the Saddle Dome.
The room has a very clean aesthetic with a full kitchen which made our stay very convenient. The included parking was definitely a bonus, we were able to walk all around the city without driving.
We will definitely be staying here again if the room is available.
- Alexander (10/5): 10/10 - The location was perfect.
Very neat
The guy at the lobby was supper friendly.
10/10 Nothing
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Salvador (7/5): It was a pleasant stay over all. I hope that the host can be easier to reach for future guests. - The location of the accommodation is good and the view of the city is nice, it is close to Downtown and 17th Avenue, which is more lively than Downtown. It is also close to Stampede Park, so it is great for those who are going to that event. It is a nice place for a single traveler, two friends, or a couple. The host was hard to reach, but they are nice, even though they may seem intimidating because of all the rules that they have. As for the rules, it seems like there are way too many, so sometimes it felt like one was walking on egg shells.
- Joffre (10/5): - Perfect for what I needed. Handy to the city & groceries.
- Biyao (9/5): Superb - The location is awesome, only a 10-minute walk to the core of downtown. The security of the building is excellent. The apartment is clean and well decorated with all you need. We are happy with our stay. The bedroom is facing east, and the curtain was not able to block all the sunshine in the morning. If you need a dark room for sleeping, maybe bring an eye mask.
- Tia (10/5): I will stay here every time I'm in the city. - • The condo is a newer build with VERY good noise isolation. I didn't hear anyone else in the building, which is amazing. Ah, no heavy hotel door slams.
• The condo is VERY clean. You can tell their housekeeper takes great care to ensure your comfort.
• It is very well stocked, with everything you'd need for a night or even a week. Everything you'd have at home can be found here, with few exceptions.
• The TV has Netflix!!!!
• The balcony is small but provides you with an amazing view of downtown Calgary.
• The bathroom has very hot water as well as toiletries, even a hair straightener.
• The bed is super comfortable, and the sheets smell very fresh.
• The AC works like a dream.
• It is walking distance to everything you'd want to see downtown.
• Last but certainly not least, the owners were great at communicating throughout. • It was in close proximity to a sketchy area (heading away from downtown) but never did I feel unsafe being in the building, which is HIGHLY secure. Just don't try to walk to 711 at 10pm to get a hot dog.. heh! That said, it's also downtown so it's to be expected. You'd find the same thing at the Marriot etc
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): - The location of this hotel is perfect! You can to 17th ave with a quick walk or scooter ride. I really can’t complain about anything this unit had to offer
- Yanick (10/5): Comfortable - The location was perfect for our visit of the Comic expo at Stampede Park. Being right next to Shoppers and H-Mart made it easy to get essentials and made the trip much more comfy.
- Nancy (7/5): something different from a hotel with high views of the saddledome. - whole apartment Apartment was small, no place to hang a towel in the bathroom and a small chair for clothes in the bedroom would be appreciated. It would have been nice to have a few courtesy coffee pods for the morning. dvds but no player. a few details should be added but the host was very nice and said we could call if we had any issues.
- Mahia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mahia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and cozy place.
- Mahia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - great location great gym the best building
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sky (1/5): Bad -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - great location, excellent gym. host was very responsive and helpfull.
- Jokellz (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (3/5): Poor - There were so many rules for the building and for the apartment itself, it felt like we were walking on eggshells. It’s also not as close to Downtown as described. The amount of rules made the stay unpleasant.
- Hylton (10/5): Exceptional - great views, modern gym and friendly environment
- Gregory (10/5): - This property is a small but cute apartment. It is right across the street from the C-Train and close to lots of restaurants, pubs and the Stampede grounds. The street traffic can get pretty noisy at night, so bring earplugs.
- Jorge (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Sayed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the place, the location, cleanliness, the staff, the views. I didn't not like anything about the stay it was a great place altogether.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Jim (10/5): - Fabulous location, great condo. Had a couple of minor hiccups but the owner/manager was available and on the spot. I will stay there again for sure!
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - It’s an actual one bedroom condo, so you have all of the amenities of home. Full kitchen, laundry, separate bedroom. It was very clean and very quiet. Good location with restaurants and markets within walking distance.
You get more than you would at a typical hotel for half the price. Needs a black out curtain in the bedroom.
And there are very few channel’s on tv. Having a better cable package or at least a streaming service like Netflix would have been great, as the tv is virtually useless.
- Aysu (9/5): Superb -
- Danifdzn (8/5): Very good - The space was big and perfect location, good view The curtains in the bedroom weren't as good as the one at the living room. The sunrise was all over the curtains in the bedroom, it was annoying. The bbq wasn't clean.
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anastasia (10/5): - A perfect location, very clean with all amenities and excellent communication
- Amrrezk (5/5): Passable - Location Cleaning
No housekeeping
Very expensive comparing to others
Room size very small
Bed is not comfortable
- Hector (8/5): Good accommodations for price -
- Noor (7/5): It was a great stay . Would recommend . - Beautiful location and close by to places Some expired food were there
