- Gillian (5/5): I would not be staying again. - The host was friendly. The place looks very run down from the outside. The interior looks like ur stuck in a time warp. Breakfast very basic. The bed was too small for two and was like a trampoline.

- Mark (8/5): - The public areas of the hotel and the location were great! The room was adequate. Nothing special. We've enjoyed so many places with character and the rooms at the Gairloch lacked that. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it but it was definately a hotel for bus tour type accommodations
- William (8/5): - Great location on the seafront, you can actually hear waves breaking. Huge breakfasts and having sampled the restaurant one night can recommend that too. Only negative was the room wasn't serviced.

- Craig (6/5): - Perfectly serviceable mid-range highland hotel. Big Victorian building so a bit creaky and a bit old fashioned. Decor feels a bit tired and clearly a struggle to keep on top of minor maintenance in such a large building. Staff and service were good. The location is the main reason to go all that way, not the hotel itself. Would be fine to go back if I’m ever close by again.

- Lynda (10/5): - Stayed with my son while we explored the Highlands and found the hotel to be an excellent base for us while we stayed in Gairloch. We were on foot so had no vehicle but the hotel has excellent parking facilities. Being situated right on the water-front the views were stunning and the beach provided a great place for a little after dinner walk. All the amenities you'd expect, we found the place to be warm and friendly. The rooms were clean and well presented. We'd be happy to come back here and stay again.

- Deborah (6/5): Overall Ok - Amazing looking hotel opposite the beach. The room was large with a large bedroom but the corridor had a funny smell from damp. The food was good, although it was very difficult to get the staff’s attention in the morning at breakfast and nothing was being refilled so there were limited options which was surprising as we went down during the middle of service.
- Damien (6/5): Noisy - A lot of noise transference from the the room above really squeaky floors kept waking us up from 6am on both mornings of our stay. On the positive side the breakfast is very good.

Good location, and despite being on main road that was not disturbing at all. Nothing in particular.
- David (6/5): In the land that Travelodge forgot, this hotel fills the gap. - We stayed here as a pitstop on our journey from Islay to London. It was on the main road. It suited our particular needs that night. We arrived just before 9pm because of ferry times, but the bar was going to close down at 9pm. If we had bought a drink, we would have had to take it to our room. Not sure why residents couldn’t have been accommodated.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely views - Nice room with lovely view. Bed uncomfortable. Dinner was nice just shame there was nowhere comfortable to sit after. Needs more comfy chairs and better set up so can sit downstairs and take in the views.

I understood that it was a long standing problem and since our room was up 54 stairs and I have a knee held together by a steel implant I have now returned home needing physio . My husband is a little older than me at 82
- Christopher (8/5): - fantastic views over gairloch bay, convenient stopover and warm welcoming atmosphere. very comfortable bed but quality of pillows needs to be improved. ensuite was functional although small which dated the room accommodation generally. would stay again if only for another chance to take in those impressive views.
- Paul (10/5): SCOTLAND 500 - My Wife and I stopped at the hotel as part of our Scotland 500 drive. The hotel is in a perfect location with an impressive view across the water. Great parking, staff, food and drink.
- Ryan (10/5): - This would have been a grand hotel in its day, and it’s still a great place to stay, right across from the beach. The room had lots of space, a huge bathroom, and a comfortable single bed. The lobby, lounge and restaurant areas are all nice and welcoming, unlike many modern hotels that don’t seem to be set up for you to linger. Supper was very enjoyable, and the breakfast buffet had all of the usual hot and cold options. Staff were very friendly in the bar and restaurant. I would definitely go back.

- John (4/5): - We were made feel very unwelcome. Having texted the property earlier in the day to say that we would be checking in late (initially thought to be around 8pm) we eventually arrived at 8.50pm. We first had to wait for a few minutes as there was nobody at the reception desk. When we asked about dinner we were told that we were too late and the kitchen was closing at 9pm. We then asked about bar food and even said that a basket of chips would do and at this we were directed to a takeaway in the town !!! Feeling a bit disgusted we were told that our room was in the second floor and that the lift was working. This was a huge inconvenience as my wife has limited mobility due to a bad knee. Having gotten to our room we decided to go to the bar and which was a very unwelcoming experience. At 9.20pm two members of staff arrived into the bar with burgers and chips - more or less what we had asked for but which could not be accommodated !!! Then at breakfast this morning we were met by a very stroppy woman (who had been in the bar the night before). The whole experience was extremely poor.
- Bev (6/5): - Staff unprofessional when we checked in. Food good and plenty of choice for drinks. Nice location, however, we were disappointed with our room. Despite being larger that we expected, the room was in need of an upgrade, with the bathroom being particularly poor. We only stayed for one night.
- Greg (6/5): Cherry picker sea view - I should have known that things were maybe not going to go to plan when after checking in at reception we went to our room only to find our double room had become a twin room. To be fair this was sorted out within 15 minutes and we got tour seaview double we had booked., Did I say seaview?…perhaps that should better be described as cherry picker view. I wouldn’t have minded if we hadn’t paid double the basic room price for a seaview room.. why couldn’t they stick the picker round the back in the empty coach park? Dinner was good and the staff were very nice. There are some bizarre things around the hotel like really tacky gifts in the display cabinets and the lifts on all floors having cupboards built around them -maybe they are being renovated however there were no signs to indicate construction was going on. A light fitting on one of the corridors was literally hanging off the ceiling,. These I can forgive, however what I can’t forgive is being woken at 7am on Sunday by people entering our room with a key without any warning - they left pretty quickly. We raised with two members of staff one said it wasn’t their department and the other said it must be workmen checking out the water pressure - what workmen work at 7 am on a Sunday? The experience left us slightly shaken, sleep deprived and very dissatisfied with the hotels response. We may have just picked a bad weekend but an apology would not have been too much to ask. We may be back, but not in a hurry.

Just the job. - I phoned the hotel to let them know I would be checking in late due to work and the chap I spoke with was very helpful and understanding, I assumed it would be too late for a meal but the lady at reception said they could arrange food... Bonus ! The room was basic but clean and warm, breakfast was good. A nice place to stay in my opinion. I stay in hotels a lot for work and don't normally post reviews but felt this place is getting some uncalled for low reviews, if you want a brand new premier inn type hotel.. book one !

True, there was a small sign of prior damp on the ceiling of my room: but given the fairly remote region, plus the huge impact of Covid in 2020-21, I think it is remarkable that such hotels managed to survive financially. Also, old buildings pose significant maintenance challenges. Cleanliness was good, staff were excellent, and the value for money was significantly better than other hotels in the area. Would I stay there again? You bet I would! And the sunsets were superb. Well done, Gairloch Hotel.
- Neil (8/5): Solo traveller - Stayed for three nights in a twin room with en suite facilities. Everything was very clean and had all the usual tea/coffee available. The rooms decor and bathroom fittings are slightly old fashioned but comfortable. Very friendly and approachable staff who always helped with a smile. Hotel is very close to the beach and central village location with superb views over Gairloch bay. Will definitely by returning.

- William (1/5): A Place to Avoid - Cold and Unwelcoming - There was nothing to like. The place was so bad we didn't stay. It looked busy by the car park but it turned out the owner collects cars and they were all his. There was no sign of any staff apart from the owner. We asked where the bar was and he said there was no bar and you could get drinks at dinner. Why is there a bar shown on the images. There was no atmosphere in the place and we saw no other guests. Despite paying our stay in advance we decided to leave and get alternative accommodation as it was that bad. Seems like a fairy tail the other reviews on the page. We have since spoken to other people about the place and they have said that it is not a hotel but it is the owners own residence.

We were given the wrong type of room initially but soon rectified however, both rooms were extremely old fashioned. Black mould around the windows and damp in the bathroom. Food was nice. Ordered wine but it wasn't poured for us, just full bottle put on the table. Entertainment was on for the coach trip... this was brilliant. A bonus.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay at a great location - We enjoyed our one night stay in this beautifully located hotel that has seen better days. A proper refurbishment is long overdue! But the staff were very friendly and helpful, the family room for 3 basic but comfortable and we were very lucky with the sunny and warm weather, enjoying the nearby beach.

Very good value. Good choice at breakfast with staff constantly topping up. Only complaint was the shower head needed changing as there was very little spray. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

- William (8/5): - Clean and comfortable property that is across the road from a lovely beach setting and a 20 min walk to the village shops. Staff was wonderful and the dog friendly aspect was very valuable for us.
