Guest Reviews
- Ellen (8/5): - The staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke English. The room was clean and very basic. We liked the balcony. The hot tub did not seem fully hot and super clean so we skipped that. The continental breakfast was pleasant and there is a nice outdoor sitting area on the third floor next to the breakfast area.
- MrsPiket (6/5): Traffic noise on Saturday nights, please read on - Hotel Bakira is located at the boulevard of Piriápolis. The hotel is modest, reasonably maintained, non-smoking and has a lift. From the balcony there is traffic noise from the rambla. Staffs are friendly.
We came on a Saturday in November and the towns was busy. Young Uruguayans paraded their pushed-up second-hand cars, loaded with a loud ghetto blaster, by driving back & forth over the boulevard of Piriápolis. The noise lasted till early morning. During the week in off-season Piriápolis appears to be quiet.
Our room was basic, outdated furnished and with an OK doublebed. The room had a TV on the wall, tea & coffen, toilet, bidet and shower. All was clean. The balcony has a side view of the beach and the rambla.
There is a small restaurant, a bar, a lounge & terrace at the top-floor, a simple fitness room and a stuffy indoor pool. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet and an average continental breakfast served in an outdated ball room at the top-floor. Following Covid-19 regulations the breakfast is in three shifts and has to be reserved.
If you like a modest, yet well equipped, hotel and you can stand the rambla traffic noise on Saturday nights, Bakira is the place for you. Otherwise go elsewhere.
Personal super amable.
- Alcides (8/5): todo bien - a
- Florentina Rita (10/5): Objetivo cumplido!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms were simple and basic. The staff and owners were lovely and made the experience. There are not a lot of dining options open during the week off season in Piriapolis but they called around to many places to find us one. Really great people. The breakfast area on the 3rd floor has lovely views. The room with forest views is on a street and the forest is in the distance. It does have a swimming pool and hot tubs. Some of the nicest people.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Perfect location!
Many items not working, and I was not impressed by the cleanliness.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff saw me checking out with luggage and did not offer any help at all to carry it.
- Toni (10/5): - Loved the Bakari! Right on the beach, very good breakfast, friendly staff, great location. Have a rooftop lounge where you can sunbathe, pretty courtyard, pool and ping pong tables. Not far from Punta del Este, but affordable. They are environmentally conscious, with solar panels on the roof. Would definitely go again.
- Jucelana (6/5): O hotel descuidado.
- bsasric (8/5): Great Staff - After looking previously at 7 hotels and the their rooms and facilities on our arrival in Piriapolis, we settled on the Bakari Hotel which was the furthest from the bus station. This was not a problem when we left with our bags as without stops, it's only a 15 minute walk back to the station. Previous reviews of this hotel are for the most part accurate. Our room was basic but clean and with enough room for our 3 day stay. Good shower pressure and hot water. Breakfast, while good, was average for Uruguay. The bar area contained a pool table and a dartboard which could be used while having a drink or just relaxing. The hotel's location is excellent, with the beach just across the road and the harbor a 10 minute walk away. Restaurants were everywhere. Where the Bakari Hotel stands out is with its friendly English speaking front desk staff. Viviana (days) and a young man who's name I regrettably did not get (nights) were most helpful with suggestions and answered all our questions. This hotel would be our first choice for a return stay.
P.S. If you are looking to stay at a 5 star hotel or resort, you will not find it in Piriapolis. For that level, Punta del Este would need to be your destination.
- BenandSylinIowa (8/5): Restaurant is great! - We haven't stayed at any hotels in Piriapolis, but the Hotel Bakari has an attached restaurant that is great! Artisanal beers, a varied menu of really good food, and friendly service. Six of us had lunch there today, and especially enjoyed the fresh fish served on a bed of delicious veggies; others in our party loved the Bakari Burgers -- overwhelmingly thick. Definitely worth a stop if you visit Piriapolis!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Alojamiento confortable - Una buena alternativa
- Ann (10/5): Perfect location for access to Rambla and beach - A great place to stay for a few days of r & r. It especially suited me because I could walk out of the hotel , cross the street, and be on the Rambla. The hotel staff was wonderful and helpful. I highly recommend the Hotel Boutique Bakari in beautiful Piriapolis.
Personnel sympathique.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent service. Staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Location fenomenal near everything right across the street from the ocean.
Also for breakfast all the bread, and pastries are home made.
The only thing I didn't like was the old elevators.
- Ozarkers (8/5): Great location and view - The small, slightly aged Bakari is situated perfectly near the end of the Rambla in Piriapolis, with a magnificent view of the long town beach. All of town lies spread out before you. The staff is wonderfully helpful. The desk woman arrives each morning on her scooter and takes her responsibilities very seriously. It can get a little noisy late at night when the moto boys race around town. But overall, a very pleasant stay at a good price, with convenient parking.
- AmazingRacerWannabe (6/5): Off Season Visit - We were there in November and the town and the hotel were very quiet. We looked at rooms in a few hotels and we chose a room here with a balcony. The room was basic, but good enough. The indoor pool area was very stuffy. The breakfast was very basic, but with just a few guests they maybe didn't offer the variety that they would have if they had had a higher occupancy. The location is very good and the guy at the desk was helpful. The lobby area and mezzanine deck area are pretty nice.
- 981martinv (8/5): Ok stay - Receptionist was extremely accomodating and friendly. Room was spacious and clean with a Nice view of the ocean. They claim to be a boutique hotel which I didn't find the reason for other then the lift. Breakfast was extremely poor as Well as the setting. Hotel is in perfect location.
- Italian_kilt (6/5): Clean hotel for a short stay - We were here in the off season so the town was very quiet with just a couple of small restaurants open. Location is good.
We had a junior room which was clean, nothing fancy.
There is a swimming pool you can use.
Breakfast was basic, just some pastries and tea, juice. Free wifi.
If we visit Piriapolis again we would look around at other options, but forma short stay this hotel was adequate.
- El_Floro (8/5): Great hotel in an excelent location - I spent a couple of nights here in mid winter 2013. The room was new, clean and nicely decorated. The small ensuite bathroom was in excellent condition.
Indoor pool is great for off season, since you'd never go beach swimming from May to November in Uruguay. However, the temperature could have been a couple degrees hotter for our taste.
The breakfast was just ok.
The only detail I didn't like was that the brochure didn't clearly state that the two jacuzzis with water-jet massage weren't included in the bill. The price was affordable, but they should just let you know it's not included because it's not obvious.
- LinneaB760 (6/5): Well it was pretty unreal... - I just checked out today. I was lucky that Viviana spoke English she was the 5 star in this spot. I stayed 4 nights and 2 were without ANY Internet service, what was worse was for those days I COULD NOT even make an international call from the hotel FROM ANY location! Viviana used her personal cellphone because guess what? NO cellphone service on my iPhone either! No Mas! I was called "stupido Americano" more times than I care to mention, sorry if I played my ITunes off my phone while I showered because walls were paper thin & NO AC so windows open! I still had to put up with the neighbors mi amore all night long... This place is mediocre to rough at best.
