• Katerina (9/5): Superb - Nice and clean room, located right on the beach with many restaurants nearby. It’s not the best swimming spot directly in front of the room, but if you walk about 5 minutes along the beach, you’ll find a beautiful and calm place to swim. The family was very kind, they made us a delicious breakfast and gave us a tuktuk ride to the bus stop when we were heading to Udawalawe.

• Lisa (6/5): Pleasant - The hosts were really kind and caring. They arranged the TukTuks for us and made sure we are having a good time. The breakfast was good. In the bedroom there was a weird smell, like mold or damp walls. The bathroom was no go. There were stains on every wall, also mold. It was dirty and the water was running across the floor from the sink to the shower. The absolutely worst bathroom we had so far in Sri Lanka.

• Linda (8/5): Lovely to be on the beach and within walking distance of the town. - We stayed here 7 years ago and were very happy to find the same family involved. The breakfasts here are amazing huge and very good value. We had one evening meal too which was very good. The family running the hotel were very helpful and friendly

Fishermen at work right outside but we enjoyed watching them first thing in the morning and we were also asked to give them a hand, many of the locals and tourists got involved. Room was tidy and spacious though bathroom could do with a little TLC. No toiletries but this was fine as I had asked before hand. Fridge in room and aircon was good. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Also got our laundry washed here and was ready for us the next day. I loved hearing the roaring of the waves at night.

Very friendly people. Bars and restaurants to your right and left at the beach. During the day you can watch the locals fishing.

Every little detail has been thought out in the room, from extra toilet paper to mosquito repellent. Purely. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. I truly relaxed in this place.
• Dara (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay in Tangalle! Right on the beach, this small hotel is in a quiet peaceful location but close to town and other restaurants. The hotel is run by a lovely family who are truly helpful and charming. Mum is a wonderful cook and she prepares every dish fresh to order - the food was delicious! The hosts are also very helpful in organising any activities you want to do. My room was spacious, clean and really comfortable. The aircon and WiFi worked well too. Great place to stay in Tangalle - totally recommend! Nothing - everything was lovely.
• Andy (8/5): Great beach location, friendly, welcoming family hosts. - Fantastic location right on the beach. Friendly, happy host family who went out of their way to help. The beach location was great - ideal for swimming and watching or helping the local fishermen haul in their nets. Yet the bustling town was just 15 mins walk away, Hosts offered fantastic fresh fish dinners each night at low prices and always a cheery smile. Bathroom needed an update and storage facilities were lacking ie no wardrobe or drawers. Not the hosts fault but.. rubbish was constantly washed up on the beach from a small tip 80 metres away. This needs to go - but it didn't really effect an excellent stay
• Amélie (8/5): Very good - Beachfront guesthouse, near of everything. Good price for Tangalle. The beach is occupied by fishers so it’s not the cleanest beach, but you can walk further and it’s better.

The place is run by an amazing, warm, always smiling, and incredibly kind family who made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed it so much that we chose to have most of our meals on-site and spent a lot of time there. The breakfasts were the best we had on the island, and every dish we ordered was outstanding!!!-fresh sauces, exceptional salads, and deliciously prepared meals. The pineapple mojito deserves a special mention as the best drink we’ve ever had. 😀It’s incredible how attached we became to the host family in just three days. Their wonderful daughters made the stay even more special. We truly felt like part of their family. The property offers an excellent location—close to the city center, bus station, shops, and restaurants, remaining at the same time quiet and peaceful. It is practically on the beach, allowing for long, scenic walks along the seaside.The rooms are spacious, clean, and open directly onto a terrace equipped with sun loungers and tables. The air conditioning worked perfectly, cooling the room wonderfully even without needing adjustments at night. Additionally, the property provides easy access to stunning beaches and charming local restaurants while remaining close to authentic island life, like helping out with the local fishermen’s daily catch.:) Also supported us in organizing the trips .Overall, it’s a perfect balance of comfort, location, and genuine cultural experience at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!!! Nothing . We are planning to come back .

• Steven (10/5): If you like to spend some time on a tropical and quiet beach, this is the place to be! - Fantastic location literally on the beach with a view on the boats of the fishermen. The staff is wonderful and prepare for you the most delicious Sri Lankan (or western) breakfast. We had twice fresh fish for dinner at the guesthouse which was delicious. Good price for value! The warm water was not always working but you really don’t mind to shower with water that is a bit fresher. The sea can be quite rough so swimming is not always possible.
• Mantvydas (10/5): Just visit! - We had a very pleasant stay at Sun Ray beach house. The host greeted us with welcome drink tea/coffee of your choise as a welcome drink. The room was well cooled and the A/C was working perfectly fine during the whole stay. The room itself was simple, but it was clean and spacious. The rooms are on the beach, it is two steps between sandy beach and the room, so you can listed to waves all the time. The breakfast were really good, you can choose the western or local style. It is only four room hotel, so hosts really take care of you and help you with anything you need and are super friendly. We really enjoyed talking and getting to know them, it was very pleasant stay for us, much recommended.

• Marcela (9/5): Superb - Absolutely everything was perfect. The lady is an excellent cook. One day we even had a cooking school and cooked Sri Lankan curry. The whole family is very nice. Fishermen on the beach could clean up after themselves.
• Jennie (10/5): Fantastic stay - We loved staying at Sunray Beach. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and the biggest room we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. The family that run it are amazing and extremely friendly and couldn't do more for us. Breakfast was huge, kept us full until dinner, and the fresh seafood that was cooked for us was the best we've ever had. Waking up every morning having breakfast on the beach and watching the fishermen bring in the catch of the day is something we will never forget. Thank you again hopefully we will be back with smaller cases next time. Nothing.

• Lisa (10/5): You NEED to stay here - This is by far the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. Tangalle is such a wonderful village with amazing people and this hotel is truly amazing. The family that owns the hotel is the nicest I’ve met in Sri Lanka, they are friendly, helpful and lovely. They made us tea with lemons and bananas when my boyfriend had a stomach bug and gave me aloe Vera for my sunburn. I felt comfortable during my whole stay here and would always come back again. The room is spacious and comfortable, the AC works perfectly and the bathroom is very clean. The most amazing part is that you walk out of the room and are directly at the beach. There are tables, chairs and lounges in the sand where you can relax for the whole day and watch the fishermen do their work. The breakfast is yummy and filling, it doesn’t matter if you get the western or the Sri Lankan one (but I would definitely recommend the Sri Lankan one!!!) Sometimes the WiFi didn’t work well but that didn’t bother us.
• Dryke (10/5): A pleasant stay - The house is in a quiet road just facing the beach and the ocean. The room was spacious and clean. Naghiu's family is adorable and they also prepares great food and cocktails. If you need something just ask ! The bathroom needs some fixing but it does the work. The bathroom door should be free from the spring that forces the closing, so the air can dry the floor better.

• Jason (9/5): Great place to stay right on the beach - Situated right on the beach, this family run place was delightful. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, with good aircon and wifi. Listening to the waves is very relaxing. The sea is rough, so to swim you need to go a little bit further up the beach where there are some rocks to shield you. As always, in this beautiful country, the owners go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and special and helped me with my onward travel arrangements and gave me a lift to the bus station. Also had the chicken kottu one night for dinner and it was excellent. Breakfast also very good and served on the beach. Lots of other eating options nearby.

• Martin (10/5): Make Tangalle your dream - Compared to the other end of Tangalle beach, Sunray Beach is quiet (no loud weekend parties), has local color (fishermen hauling in their catch and is a good place to swim (no rocks). Dear visitors, please reduce your use of one-use plastics. You can refill your bottles throughout the country (every hotel and restaurant has safe water on tap or from filtered water dispensers. Encourage businesses not to use plastic straws. Help keep this beautiful country green.
• Reg (9/5): Excellent beachfront room - Right on the beach. Very quiet, comfortable room with good fan, aircon and nice beds. Room was really big too. Hosts were lovely. Had an excellent Sri Lankan breakfast each morning. Also the hosts arranged a very cheap tuk tuk to take me to my next destination.

The Beach House is directly at the beach and there are a lot of restaurants next to it. We can definitely recommend this accommodation and would stay here again.

They made a beautiful Sri Lankan breakfast on the beach which was delicious. They gave us exactly what we asked for. I would recommend staying here at some point. Very beautiful family run business. Bathroom was no separate shower all the water on the floor makes it very slippery and sometimes no water to shower at all. Not just at this property though it happens everywhere.

• Lars (10/5): Exceptional - This is the place you have to stay when possible. It's not just near the beach, it is really on the beach. I recommend the biggest room, huge glass front to the beach, big sized room, good AC, comfortable bed, everything in good condition. The chairs/tables/sunbeds are right in fron of the room and at the beach. But definetly the best value is the family running the property. So truly genuine kind, friendly and honest, not trying to rip you off, trying to upsell or anything. You know, some of the very few people we met like that in 1 month traveling Sri Lanka. We had some health complications and they went out of their way to help and support us amazingly, thank you so much again! And the food is awesome, included breakfast which we enjoyed every morning as well as home cooked dinner. Best prawns curry in Sri Lanka! So definetly best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. One helpful warning not regarding the place but the fisherman at the beach near by. Don't trust them. We and a lot of other people around there got scammed when helping out bringing in the fisher nets at the beach. They lure you into some place supposed to be home, cooking some fish and then manipulate you with different type of stories to scam money from you. Be aware.

Always ready to help with every detail. Breakfast was huge as the dinner. We were unable to eat everything. But is was delicious local food. The lady cooks very tasty dishes.

PS: there was a moment a turtle reached the beach late in the evening when the host informed us and made sure the turtle wasn't disturbed when laying eggs. Nothing

They put me in a terrible hotel for one night and only when I complained did they put me in a reasonable one. I asked to talk to the manager four times but he always avoided me. Try a different place don’t waste your time here.
