Although it was a short distance to get to the car, I slipped several times on black ice, I did not fall as my husband was helping me. I would have thought that by 9 am the walkways would have been salted.

Endre (1/5): - Extremely Disappointing and Unacceptable Experience – Especially for a Disabled Guest This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Despite booking and paying in advance for a specific accessible room, I was not given the room I reserved. As a disabled guest, this is not a preference but a necessity, and the hotel completely failed to respect that. The situation got even worse. The replacement room had no working Wi-Fi and no reliable phone service, making it unusable and unsafe. Internet access was essential for medical and safety reasons, yet the hotel showed no urgency in fixing this. To make matters even more shocking, I was initially told that I might have to leave the hotel, despite having a valid, prepaid reservation. Attempting to remove a disabled guest instead of resolving the problem is absolutely unacceptable and deeply distressing. Staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and showed no real concern for accessibility or guest well-being. The entire stay felt chaotic, stressful, and poorly managed. I strongly do NOT recommend this hotel, especially to anyone with disabilities. Basic standards of accommodation, accessibility, and customer service were simply not met.

I thought the lighting for the Lodge studio rooms could have been better and a notification on where to park which was over by the community center. It was dark and raining outside so it was difficult to park and find room.
KERRY (10/5): - We stayed in one of the cottages with our dog. The cottage was immaculate. One would never know there’s dogs in there. Perfect for two people, very well stocked kitchen, king size bed, walk-in shower, and the washer and dryer was a bonus, although we didn’t use it. Out during the day so we didn’t spend a lot of time in the unit. It was very comfortable and cozy. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back and stay there again.

We received a door code so no need to check in. Had an assigned parking space. The only issue we had was the noise from the floor above us and the stairs next to us.

Parking of vehicle was not conveniently located near our unit, which was on the second floor. Also, no elevator so hoisting heavy suitcases up the staircase was a hassle. Courtney (10/5): Quaint escape off Main Street - I am on the road for work every week, so sometimes I book my hotel last minute and just try to get in the vicinity of where I need to be with at least an 8 star rating. My expectations were exceeded at this adorable hotel! Instead of a room, I got a whole two-story cottage to myself! The bed was very comfortable, the shower was so refreshing, and the living room/kitchenarea was relaxing and stocked with amenities. I really enjoyed my single night here and if I come back to RI, I hope I get to stay here again.

Tap Root Brewery is on the same premises. East Island Reserve is well conceived & maintained. Definitely a return trip is planned.

Ellen (10/5): A Gem! - This spot is a gem away from the busyness of Newport. The tiny house we rented was beautifully appointed, the pool is lovely, the staff accommodating and friendly. Sachuest beach is a 12 minute drive and Thames street less than twenty. Altgough the property sits close to the busy east main road, the sounds of traffic are not a problem. The Newport Wine vineyard is right next door, accessible from the property! I’ll be back’

Mark (8/5): - We really loved it here and would stay again. My husband and I arrived on our check in day and were emailed the key code to one of the cottage style rooms. It was so perfect! We love to have some independence and not be stuck in just a room. There was a full kitchen (again, love this option and it was so nice) but the stove and oven didn’t work. We did make a call to Guest Services and the girl was so sweet on the phone and assured us Maintenance would call and check in but never did. Small fridge that was perfect for the 5 days we stayed but no real freezer/no ice that we could find but it did get cold enough to make a tray at a time. The key gives access to the HEATED salt water outdoor pool but the hotel’s community room, boasting full access and place to gather if you have a larger group or want coffee, etc…was not a reliable option. It could have been us, but it was locked most times we tried to enter. That being said, it’s a beautiful space and I think the one thing I would recommend overall to this hotel is that the communication is poor on what is where and how and when to access amenities. Again, LOVED it overall, but if we had kids with us, as our other cottage neighbors did, a non working oven/stove with no follow through would have been very hard and even more frustrating. Yay for the washer dryer! We had to pull hard on the door to find it, so don’t be scared to pull some, they swell in the humidity. Overall, we will stay again

Rebecca (6/5): For an upscale and expensive motel stay it has great potential but they need to make some changes. - Great location if visiting Portsmouth or Middletown. Clean, good space, modern appointments in the room. Bed is comfortable. For the price, the hotel needs to make some changes. The walls and ceiling are thin. You can hear the room above walking, showering, etc. Pillows are not great and on departure the required protocol is to take out your own trash- it’s a hotel, not an airbnb.

Lisa (2/5): Rude and obnoxious. - The accommodations were clean and very nice. The staff was obnoxious and rude. My husband is disabled and so it takes us longer to get moving than most people. We were charged $150 for a late check out which would have been fine except the staff stood in our room hovering over us until we left. Literally stood in our room. Like there was no other room they could clean or attend to. We travel all over the world and this was the woest service we have ever experienced. It was actually shocking. Charging us a late fee and then being so over the top rude. I will be sure to let others know my experience it was unlike anything I have ever seen in my life.

The shades...omg. no matter how hard we tried to arrange them, we still get the sunlight in our faces. We were in room 32. It was annoying. The fact that we wanted to relax since we are on vacation, wanted to sleep late, then go and explore Newport...but these shades were driving us crazy... makes me hesitate bout booking again. Maybe the apartments of 1 or 2 beds have diff shades. Idk.The other thing was the AC. It made a loud noise. I never got used to it and scared me all the time in the middle of the night. It was a loud bang, that sounded like somebody was trying to open our door. There is a beautiful vineyard right next to this hotel, there are a lot of nice restaurants, supermarkets and pharmacies close to the place. We really liked it but the shades and AC were annoying.
