- Joe (9/5): Clean, smart, good open spaces, great breakfast, lovely evening meal. Thank you Freddie and Hseniia! - Fabulous hotel in a great central location! Nothing was too much trouble, our room was wonderful - a little warm to start with but the hotel staff did all they could to help. Parking perfect in the hotel's underground car park. Colleagues on reception and in the restaurant were very helpful - thank you all. Would definitely stay again! So little to say here, it was such a lovely hotel. One issue was the air conditioning - in the hotel communal areas it was absolutely perfect - our room, however, was a little on the warm side but the staff did all they could to improve it - thank you! This may not be an issue more generally, just on this occasion and full marks to the hotel staff for being so proactive and understanding. Their response was a real plus and deserves full credit! You can often tell more about a hotel by the way staff respond if there are any issues - Malmaison's response to this issue was very positive.
- patrick (2/5): Great location - Location Shabby condition

- Rosemarie (8/5): - Good location, friendly staff, Surprised that the bathroom was not separated from the bedroom. It felt a bit like camping. The basin taps were rusted and shabby.
- Fioma (10/5): - Freddy on reception was fantastic. Credit to the hotel.
- Arran (1/5): Wouldn’t recommend, awful value for money - Great location Long check in, abrupt staff, lights in bathroom didn’t work, water pressure awful, uncomfortable bed, shame it’s let down in many areas as it’s a great location

- Ian (8/5): Enjoyable and relaxing. - Breakfast excellent. Parked at hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. The shower wasn't great, water flow & temp varied. Also grouting in shower needed cleaning.
- Sally (8/5): Centrally located quiet hotel with spacious accommodation - Spacious room, large bath, good walk in shower.
Comfortable bed
Two wardrobes
A quiet centrally location with on site parking perfect for festivals Coffee maker had no socket to plug in so had to carry it to a socket near the door
Bedside nooks were difficult to access unless actually laying in bed
Sink was difficult to use as taps were on the side
A charge for parking - it should be included in the price
- KelvinDG (7/5): - Brilliant staff and lovely food. The hotel is my favourite in Cheltenham, and as someone who lived in the town for years I know the options available. However this was first time I've been disappointed. The staff as usual were superb but the room was a huge disappointment.
- Belinda (8/5): Wonderful weekend - Extra thought and attention to allow us to bring our dog to meals with us was much appreciated.
Room was well equipped and clean; lovely shower and bath and the bed was very comfortable. Better lighting near the mirrors would be an improvement.

Bathroom all black with no window and poor lighting. Bath inside the main room not a luxury we particularly want!

- graham (6/5): Nice hotel, lovey afternoon spent in shops and bars but avoid Cheltenham at night - The room was very nice once inside however our room was in the old (original) part of the building where the corridoors, stairways and lifts were extremely tired and worn and did not create a pleasant ambiance. The rest of the hotel (including the room) was clean and modern and even had sky sports. The location for the town was great which enabled us to have a walk around the shops and stop for a drink in afternoon.
For the (Saturday) evening we were a five or ten minute walk from the Ivy restaurant which again was very good. After this we walked around to find a pub / bar which was a real struggle. After hours and outside of the restaurants we found the Cheltenham pubs and bars to be very rough and not particularly welcoming. We are used to going out in Birmingham and Leamington Spa and even Coventry in the evenings so are used to the sites occasionally. In comparison Cheltenham was just low brow and probably the last place I would reccommend on a Saturday night. The hotel was good but I would try and ascertain which rooms are in the newer part of the building and pay the extra to avoid the old part. Also, I doubt I would visit Cheltenham again, Oxford (for example) or Bath are way better places to visit.
- Paul (10/5): Outstanding quality and value for money - Location and friendly staff The lift was out of order
- laj356 (8/5): Great hotel experience - We got a good deal on club mal rate as we have stayed in other malmaison hotels. Easy booking online and breakfast deal too.
on arrival the hotel was very friendly and efficient as were all the staff during our stay. Breakfast staff were very nice and food was hot and perfectly cooked each morning. We had a lovely room and were comfortable on our stay. We enjoyed a few night caps at the bar and loved the location of the hotel for walking around Cheltenham, lovely restaurants and bars nearby and easy access to main roads to visit around the area. I could only mention two things about the room for attention. The lights were a mystery ! On and off and a variety of switching combinations required to get them working correctly and the bath was ridiculously high to climb out of. Minor details. Worth the money and it had all the amenities we needed and we felt well looked after on our four day mini break.
- Anthony (8/5): Lovely hotel - Clean and friendly great location The heating was far to high and made it uncomfortable
- FrancieGJG (10/5): A very positive experience - Great location to appreciate Cheltenham’s gorgeous Georgian architecture and the shopping, but also the best of the Cotswolds countryside. We had a great breakfast in the hotel and lovely meal as part of their Thursday evening Steak Night offer. Brilliant value for money. Staff very helpful and friendly.
- Ambassador766714 (6/5): Average - We recently stayed at Malmaison Cheltenham and overall had a reasonably pleasant stay, with the hotel’s location being a clear highlight.
The hotel is well situated for exploring Cheltenham, making it convenient for getting around and enjoying the local area.
However, the property itself is in need of refurbishment. The bar seating had visible stains, and there were chips and scuffs on walls in various parts of the hotel. The reception table was also blistered, which created a slightly tired first impression.
We stayed in a junior suite (room 118), which felt quite worn. There were several maintenance issues: the vanity mirror had come away from its fixings, not all of the bathroom lights were working, and the towel radiator didn’t function. We also experienced leaks from both the shower and toilet. Blackout curtains or blinds would also be a worthwhile addition.
Noise was another issue — there was considerable disturbance from the room above, to the extent that the ceiling light fitting visibly moved at times.
Staff interactions were fine but unremarkable, and didn’t particularly offset the issues with the condition of the hotel.
Overall, while the location is a strong point, the hotel would benefit significantly from investment in maintenance and updates.
- Chris (5/5): Good location and pleasant staff but the rather tired room was a disappointment. - The location was good, room was quiet, bed comfortable. Staff friendly. Rubbish in waste bin when we checked in to room. Shower flooded the whole bathroom and didn’t drain efficiently(accessible room). Lighting poor. Water stain on ceiling.
- Paul (6/5): - Location Tired in need of refresh
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Good location/ pretty place - Friendly staff / nice room and facilities N/a

- paul (5/5): The hotel is very well situated as it is within walking distance of the shops. - Location: very handy for walking into the Town Centre.
Restaurant: layout was very good and modern, the hot drinks machine was easy to use and was working correctly. Room: the cosy bedroom was too small, the bed was only accessible from one side. The overhead light was the dimmest I ever seen, the towel rail in the bathroom on on full power all the time and there appeared to be no way of turning it off. The bath was quite difficult to get in and out because of the layout. The side room was so narrow it begged the question of what was the purpose of it?
Restaurant breakfast: Noticed there was a problem with the communication, regarding what people were ordering, between the chef and the waitress who took our order. I ordered the full English breakfast which came with baked beans I did not order, one slice of black pudding which was rock hard and had to be sent back to the chef who replaced it with one slice slightly less well done. The menu suggested that there would be mushrooms and tomatoes but only one of each was served on the plate.
The brown sauce came in a small jug and must have come directly out of the fridge as it was nearly ice cold.
Fruit selection: there was only one bowl of fruit, would have liked a greater selection.

- Hellywellywales (10/5): Great experience - A lovely hotel. I was there for both a business meeting and an overnight stay. All of the staff were really friendly and professional, especially Alex the Manager that evening. Great facilities and fabulous food
- Megan (6/5): -
- I9199DZnicolap (8/5): Excellent afternoon tea - Afternoon tea for a birthday on 3rd April.
What a lovely surprise and experience here in Cheltenham.
Toby looked after us throughout and was brilliant.
The various cakes and savouries were fresh and delicious. Coffee and Prosecco also amazing. I enjoyed the Arbroath whisky at the end as well.
Not to mention real napkins, white linen tablecloth and all as it should be for a grand afternoon out.
Four of us went as my daughter decided on this lovely treat for her father’s (me) birthday,
Lovely setting combining both old and modern decor with traditional excellence as standard service.
So…. highly recommended with polite and attentive staff members.
Will be back.

- Andrew (9/5): Good value, stylist room - Lovely 'deluxe' room at a very reasonable price, helpful staff Restaurant was a little expensive for what it offered
- jose (10/5): -
- Sherrie (10/5): Relaxing pleasant place to be with the feeling of sharp attention to detail and attention. - Modern and bijou., east to get around. Like the little areas and spaces. Staff pleasant and helpful, efficient. Food good breakfast and dinner . Like the artwork. Just took me a while to get my head round the room lights. I need bright to read.
- Gary (8/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Good hotel - Great location and good breakfast
- James (7/5): Good, but could have been better… - Great location and wonderful staff Room was tired and needs attention. Toilet flush button kept sticking and so the cistern would constantly flush…
Coffee machine was nowhere near a plug so you had to move it around and on ground level the people waking along the back path could see straight into your room.
- Jonathan (4/5): Very disappointed! - Position close to the town centre Requested an upgrade to a large double room, ended up with two single beds pushed together!
- Beeson (10/5): - Fab location, gorgeous room and amazing food.
- Carly (10/5): - Very well located and a beautiful building The furniture in the bedroom was pretty dated vs the communal areas
- Traxs (6/5): - L'emplacement de l'hôtel et la salle de bain. Décoration de l'hôtel et de la chambre vraiment froide et aseptisée
- Barbara (7/5): Good - Good Breakfast
Nice room
Comfortable bed Dinner staff inexperienced

- Aaron (10/5): A really relaxing and luxurious experience - The property is a marvellous blend of old and new. The front of the property is a beautiful old building, acting as a facade to the splendid new and luxurious hotel behind. Nothing
- Heather (9/5): Beautiful location staff are excellent reception and bar staff and yummy breakfast nice smiley faces - Parking and location excellent Entrance to reception could be better lit
- Teresa (6/5): Great position for central Cheltenham - Situation, ambience, decor Very small room, shower extremely tight, a couple of things not working
- neilhP8426DF (10/5): Cheeky weekenders - Had a lovely comfortable and relaxed weekend. Made to feel very welcome. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Tess couldn't do enough for us and just wanted us to feel at home and welcomed. Thank you!!!!
- Cliff (6/5): -
- JANEY (5/5): Pleasant location. Disappointing room - Good safe location. Parking. Very disappointing bedroom. Tired cheap furniture. Most of power points failed . Chips out of cheap furniture. Only the bathroom was modern but shower head over high bath made it difficult to climb out and toilet kept refilling. Door to room fitted badly so corridor light made sleeping difficult
- elizarrize (6/5): Location good but room not comfortable - Location good. Room uncomfortable although we upgraded to club room. Just very small and the bed very low. Chairs too heavy to move! Bath too high to get in and out of safety. No real greeting on check in, but more pleasant person on check out.
- Jerry (10/5): -
