• Monika (8/5): - Eine zentral gelegene Unterkunft. Leider etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das Frühstück ist in Ordnung; aber ohne große Abwechslung. Keine warmen Speisen. Bei der Abreise wurde der Rechnungsbetrag nochmal verlangt, obwohl die Übernachtungen im Voraus bezahlt wurden. Eine lange Diskussion folgte. Ich legte meinen Bankbeleg mit dem Zahlungsnachweis vor. Mürrisch wurde dann halt nur die Kurtaxe noch verlangt.

Nicht ganz billig, aber dafür auch ein sehr angenehmer Service und Frühstücksbuffet am Wochenende sogar mit Sekt.

The family that ran the hotal was very nice, the location was within 250 meters of the old town. Restaruants were also very nearby. Our room even had a nice little balcony which was great.

• HomeGoneHome (10/5): Lovely Gasthaus - On a busy holiday weekend, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations than Franziska. The location is ideal - a 10 minute walk to the town center, but away from noisy crowds. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished, including a refrigerator and a balcony. The balcony had chairs and a table, though no mountain view. The bath was also new and clean. Breakfast was served in a pretty room behind reception. The food array was nicely arranged and refreshed regularly. We'd definitely recommend this hotel/gasthaus.

Das Frühstück war super lecker und es ist wirklich für jeden etwas dabei. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Ich habe den Aufenthalt seht genossen es hat mit sehr gefallen :)
• Entity22 (8/5): Good choice - Mid October I stayed here for the 2nd time and would return anytime. The rooms are clean and spacious, big bed(s), very good shower, free internet, tasty breakfast, friendly owners. It's about an 8-10min walk(more or less depending on how fast your walk is ofc) to the train station, about 5 minutes to the pedestrian area of Mittenwald.

• MJParisi (10/5): Excellent Gastehaus - This Guesthouse is just fabulous, in a beautiful picturesque town of Mittenwald in Bavaria. We have stayed here many times. It is great value for money, with spacious rooms and awesome bathroom. The view from our balcony is also breathtaking. Breakfast is fantastic, and the staff wonderful. We will continue to stay at Gastehaus Franziska whenever drive through this beautiful German town.

Pleasant room with fabulous, powerful shower. Room and bathroom exceptionally clean. Bed linen comfy and beautifully laundered. Breakfast was ample and served by a very professional and helpful member of staff. Great parking facility right beside the hotel. Would recommend and would return to this hotel for a further visit ourselves. Thank you Dietmar of the Franziska hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
• Wanderlust_pg (8/5): Cosy, quiet guesthouse - We had originally booked another guesthouse close to the station which was under renovation when we arrived. This one is a bit farther away from the station which could be a slight problem if you have luggage. The location is convenient though - good eating options right next door..rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. Loved the breakfast spread too!
• lesliem132 (8/5): Great location for area day trips - The management operates a couple of hotels in the area so we had to wait just a few moments for them to arrive and open the front door. The day was beautiful so not an issue. Great customer service, plenty of variety in the breakfast bar. My husband was too tall for the 'shower' in our bathroom so they gave us a second room for him to shower in. Didn't have to, but went the extra mile for us. We will be staying there again in any future trips to Mittenwald.
• Lexi99 (4/5): Service problems, very dated decor - As others have mentioned, there isn't just staff at the front desk for when you arrive. Luckily the front door was open so could get in. After 10 minutes of hanging out in reception, looking for a bell or a clue what to do, I just phoned and someone came out. We were shown to our room which was at the end of the hall and sadly faced an alley and construction site. The room had a distinct 70s vibe but was spacious. Incredibly dated decor but bedding was crisp and fresh and room was clean. Large tub/shower. We couldn't get wifi in our room and had to sit in reception when we needed it. Someone was usually at the front desk in the mornings but never said hi or even looked up at us when we walked past. Breakfast was basic and nothing special. At checkout we were presented with a bill higher than what they had previously confirmed. When I went to look up their confirmation email on my phone, he found another bill for us that was correct. How do you have 2 different bills ready to go for 1 customer? Not impressed.
• twovass (8/5): Attractive base for exploring the Mittenwald area - We were a little ambivalent at first as having arrived at the pre-arranged time it took a moment or two to find someone to let us in (the front door is always locked) and then had to carry our (heavy) cases upstairs - but it is actually a good place to stay. The inn is within east strolling distance of the pedestrianised centre (5 minutes) and has nice views to one or other side of the valley, depending on the room. The rooms themselves are comfortable with a bathroom that is on the small side but sensibly arranged so that it works. Breakfast is also decent (typically Teutonic - juices, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, nice freash rolls, cheese, hams, jams and eggs, boiled or scrambled) and the service cheerful and swift (although the selection is limited and one might tire of it if staying for more than 2-3 days). The room we were in was on the first floor and had a balcony, which overlooked a colourful garden and which we appreciated. Although it is located on the main village road most of the cars use the bypass so it was quiet at night. There are many restaurants within easy walking distance; and also a supermarket. The WIFI worked well although it does entail requesting a specific ID and password from the proprietor (which is time limited, albeit for 300 minutes or so of usage). Breakfast was not until 08:30 so early risers have to be patient. The furnishing in the reception and communal areas is traditional and attractive. If you accept that it is a guesthouse, not a hotel, it is fine - an attractive base for exploring the Mittenwald area, with several trails with minutes of the front door.
• 892gabrielap (10/5): Cozy German Guesthouse rooms in quiet peaceful setting - Do you want to feel like you are away from it all? This guesthouse has a feeling of being a home away from home. In the heart of Mittenwald, a wonderful town with beautifully painted houses and known for its violin making, this sister guesthouse to the Sonnenheim Gasthaus offers the comforts of a quiet friendly inn, and is only about a two and one-half block walk (no hills) into the center of town. These cozy rooms come with a TV, bathroom and shower (w/hair dryer), and a mini bar (which you will have to pay for). Ask for a room with a balcony - I got to enjoy views of the Alps which I thought no matter what time of day, were simply gorgeous. The hosts were charming and accommodating. The breakfast (included) was a delicious assortment of tasty meats, cheeses, breads, and fresh jams and preserves (strawberries were in season), along with coffee, juice. And I loved those cute little Bavarian coffee pots for one! It was only a 2-night stay and is not by all means fancy, but the beds were comfy, the showers were nice and the check-in and check-out process was very quick and efficient. Also, parking was off to the side and everything felt so safe and well managed. There's only one regret and that was not staying longer to continue enjoying this.
• mekaye (8/5): Worth a Stay - The room was very clean, especially the bathroom. My friends and I had great views of the mountains from our rooms (rooms facing Innsbrucker Strasse) and from the restaurant area (back of the hotel). The breakfast area was delightful. Nice table setting, picturesque views of the mountains and typical German breakfast of fruit, cheese, salami, yoghourt, etc. The hotel wifi was not strong in the room and did not seem reliable in the lobby. I was out of the hotel most of the time, so it was not the end of the world. The hotel is a quick walk to the middle of town. Mittenwald is a pleasant village. Across the street from the hotel you will find the Mittenwald brewery, also worth a visit!
• dos-caras (10/5): A perfect German hotel - Gastehaus Franziska has everything that a good German hotel has to offer: spacious quiet rooms with a large balcony, incredibly light and soft blankets and pillows... The rooms have a desk+table with enough chairs, a safe, a mini bar (which means a fridge), a radio, Internet access (wifi, though they talk about WLAN), large bathrooms (ours was decorated with crimson red tiles, very unusual). But best of all was the breakfast - there was everything you can think of: cheese and charcuterie, a wide choice of cereals, fresh vegetables, yogurt, delicious pate. The only problem was, the check-in time is until 18.00, and most of the day there was no one at the reception. But, if you arrive late, you should call the hotel to let them know (NB: call on the phone, not write an email), and they will figure it out. The hotel is highly recommended.
• Chester_UKCitykid (8/5): Comfortable hotel in picturesque town - Spent two nights in this small, but very comfortable and well run hotel. Clean and spacious rooms.Friendly staff. Just be warned however that if you are arriving to check in after 6.00pm (which we did. just ) the reception is not manned. Despite being warned of our later arrival we could not raise anyone via the intercom or phone to check us in, only managing this ultimately via the intervention of one of the other hotel guests. Nevertheless we enjoyed Mittenwald and the surrounding area. Great walking country. Can recommend eating in the restaurant of the small local brewery diagonally opposite the hotel.
• peterh025 (10/5): Immaculate - This hotel was immaculate .Not sure how we scored the junior suite but it was spacious and nearly everything worked perfectly. The bath was great but the shower is a bit of a struggle due to the sloping roof. Small kitchen facilities meant that we could buy stuff and eat in which made a very welcome change from restaurants. The breakfast was superb, just as well we are on a walking holiday so we were able to do justice to the beautifully presented buffet The owners and staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble And mittenwald is picture postcard stuff. We will surely return and make the Franziska our base
• JA577 (8/5): You need to spell Mittenwald with at least one "Ahhhh" - Beautiful town and very comfortable hotel. Very clean and spacious room. Staff were friendly and very nice. The woman working the breakfast (among other things) was really great she'd let me fumble along with my poor grasp of German and then step in with English. I won't say what they did for us (don't want to set up expectations that it would happen for others), but I will say that the staff at Franziska really went the extra mile to earn our repeat business! The town attitude reminds me of a small Hawaiian town; Slow pace, friendly people, no rush, no worries. The man in the Strawberry shaped fruit stand is my 10 year old daughter's new best friend after he gave her a free strawberry! Oh, and one of the tastiest beers I've tasted in a long time is brewed in Mittenwald, too! (What more could you ask for [other than a permanent resident visa, that is?) Nice place to visit. Wish I lived here.
