The accommodation and views are unbelievable , but the true selling point is Matthia’s hospitality and one-on-one local travel tips. Callia Caves was a slice of Greek heaven presented by a total darling of a hostess! Gosh, and that view… Nothing. Take me back there now!

If you are sensitive to smells and plan to - The property was in a great location and quite big for Europe. The host is very kind and quick to respond! There is an over powering smell through the place that we did not like. I think it may be from the jacuzzi inside the main room? The smell burned our friends eyes who were staying in the room. Additionally, the AC unit when you first walked in leaked the entire time we were there. We had to constantly change towels to soak up the water. We were told someone would be by to fix it but no one ever showed up.

• April (10/5): Beautiful Callia Caves - Location was excellent. Close to shops and restaurants. The apartment had everything we needed. Matthia was very helpful throughout our stay with answering questions, giving recommendations, and booking & reserving for us! Restaurant is right across from the apartment patio but this is very common in Santorini.

You're right in the centre of Fira with endless amounts of restaurants, shops and bus station which takes you anywhere you want to go. The apartment was amazing. The view from the apartment was 10 out of 10. Matthia was absolutely amazing. She was there 24/7 for us and couldn't have been anymore helpful. She recommended lots of things to do and places to see. Our holiday wouldn't have been the same without her. We look forward to visiting here again ❤️

However I don’t recommend as a - What I like a about the property is the amazing view and how big the apartment is. Also Matthia was very helpful. Pillows, noise at night because of the restaurant/bar in front, there is a constant smell from the pool inside the apartment. Don’t get me wrong, Is good to have it but, the pool smell doesn’t feel good. Breakfast can be improved as well. They ask you what time do you want to receive it but it does come all packed in a box, instead of serve on a tray, so doesn’t really matter what time you want it.
• Kevin (10/5): Best place for a breathtaking view and comfortable stay! - Best possible view in the area! The apartment was quaint and cozy and had a fabulous upper deck for enjoying the scenery! Our hostess Matthia was on top of everything and took excellent care of our needs during our stay. I highly recommend Calia Caves for the best view on Santorini! Nothing!
• Sapoundjieva (10/5): Exceptional - The location was excellent, very close to the third level of the restaurant, so you can take advantage of the nice background music while spending time outside having drinks on first or second level. Large and perfectly heated hot tub. The views of the Caldera were superb, plus we were lucky to watch the fireworks. The hotel service from Mathia was the best, super efficient and helpful in every possible way meeting us, helping us find the location, which is not easy, taking care of luggage up the stairs and giving us ideas what to do and arranging tours (with Yannis) around the island last minute that were excellent, highly recommended. No Greek food in the neighboring restaurant was disappointing

• Raymond (9/5): A great choice overall and very happy with it! - Location is perfect, very central but not busy with tourists passing by. The view is reasonably good and meet expectation. The apt is clean and functional with everything we need. Our host is responsive and helpful, allowing us a very early check-in given our travel schedule, and booked us a great table at the restaurant next door. The view is good but a bit blocked by the terrace of a nearby restaurant just right next to the apartment. The apt may br a bit small for a family as when the sofa bed turned into a bed, there is almost no sitting area in the main floor. The small kitchen is small but functional, would be better if the sliding door is removed - it is quite difficult tonuse the space with the door with really no real function of it

• Vicki (7/5): Great location, loved the view. - Good location. Loved the jacuzzi and top balcony to watch the sunset of an evening. Stayed 7 nights but disappointed we did not have cupboard space to place our clothes for the week and had to leave our luggage etc downstairs. It also looked a bit tired and probably needs a bit of paint and update.

• Amalie (6/5): Pleasant - Host was great and very attentive throughout our stay. We did not get to meet her, but she was very good in giving advice about the island and always very quick to reply. Much appreciated! Location. It is right behind a bar street, which gets very noisy at night. Also, the apartment is not located on the edge of the cliff, but behind a restaurant, meaning there is no privacy and you will have to look through the crowd at the restaurant when looking at the view. Further, the apartment has been rebuild since the pictures were taken so it does not look like the pictures. Finally, it was not possible to change the temperature of the hot tub, which was lukewarm - alas, it was too hot to use during the day and too cold to use during the night. While the host was great and it was very clean, we do not think it was a great value for money.
• John (3/5): Poor - The location was ok but to get to it was rather dirty and rubbish everywhere. It’s behind a restaurant so you really only have views from upstairs. The breakfast included was pretty ordinary. The back room we couldn’t finish our 4 night stay because of the plunge pool smell of chlorine with no ventilation. We then had to book new accommodation so we have incurred more fees. Also the egg chair in front of the room was so dirty (fabric) you didn’t want to sit in it. It was our last stay from our holiday so it really left a bad taste of Santorini for us ;(

It is hard to get fresh air to the back room. The surrounding restaurants might seem noisy for those go sleep before midnight. There was no music after 0.30am though.

The hot tub had brown residue on the walls and beaches that came off when you touched it. We only used it briefly and then not again. The customer service,however, was outstanding.

• Maria (9/5): A nice unforgetable stay - I love the view from our balcony. We stayed at the Callia caves as a group. The rooms are really spacious and the bed are so comfortable. The contact with the staff (Ms Matia) is running so smoothly without any trouble. She help us ordering the taxi to the apartment as we are having trouble with our flight and landed at midnight. In the room there is a big jacuzzi, they called it „hot tub“ and they put some chlorine, so that the smell of chlorine are too strong and the are no windows (the room downstair) in the room that can be open for a fresh air. Luckily the room is connected to the big living room and open kitchen, so we can open the door for the air circulation.
• Claudia (9/5): Gorgeous views, private apartment, very romantic - The location is right in the centre of Fira, but in a quiet corner with full view of the sea. Our host Matthia was a star, gave us a map with the main attractions, organised our transfer and a quad bike hire. The spa pool is very private. The kitchen could be better equiped, and there was a sliding door that made it a bit awkward to cook.

• Jane (6/5): Great overall but missing something - I had a pleasant stay with my daughter & having separate sleeping quarters was a must. The property was spacious & quiet considering it was in the midst of it all. The property was in an excellent location. It was right in the heart of Fira within easy walking distance to everything. The view from the upstairs bedroom was incredible. If you arrive with considerable luggage there is no vehicle access and this was an issue for me. I just think it lacked something for the price which I can’t quite put my finger on. The Wifi was unreliable & the inside pool was a bit disappointing. It was just like an oversized bath with weak jets. It would have been better outside. I also think the photographs are slightly deceptive. They give the appearance that you are right on the edge but there is a restaurant in front.

• Ashley (9/5): Beautiful stay in Thera! - Matthia was an incredible host! She met us on arrival and helped us get bags to room. The apartment is beautiful and spacious. Very nice amenities, well stocked, very comfortable and beautiful views from upstairs room. Love the courtyard entry with table to sit outside. Porch swing is nice touch too. Considerably quiet given it is just off the beaten path. Breakfast was delicious. You choose which time you'd like it delivered and there are many delicious options. Large portions...we couldn't eat it all! Although the main level room has a hot tub, the temperature was cooler than we're used to and we were asked not to turn it up. Also, there is a restaurant directly across path from house, which is fine, however, we thought we would have more privacy on bedroom balcony and front courtyard. Be mindful of roof slope on stairs leading to upstairs bedroom and far wall in upstairs bedroom!

• Louise (6/5): find somewhere more private this is not good value - good view tiny. hardly anywhere to put clothes. photos on site are deceiving - yes you overlook the caldera but what is doesn’t show is you overlook a restaurant. can’t sit out on balcony as everyone from restaurant looking at you. walkway in front of property so constant stream of tourists outside taking photos. there was also a toilet window from restaurant next next door so while sitting on upstairs balcony you could hear people in the toilet

The hot tub was nice. The daily breakfast was very nice. The light switches should be labeled. There should be an instructional sheet on how to operate the climate remotes. The family room remote didn’t work. The toilet paper holder was broken upstairs and wasn’t repaired while we were there. It’s a bit loud with the restaurant right below, but with the windows closed was fine. The curved walls in the upstairs bathroom were something to get used to. It would be nice to have a few dish towels to dry dishes.

The Host Matthia was there all the way from check in to everything we needed, nothing was any trouble! The location is perfect, and the views are amazing! The breakfast was delivered at exactly the time ordered every morning and was delicious and plentiful! A dresser to put our clothes there wasn’t really space to hang them!!

• Claire (10/5): Simply stunning - The view!! Especially from the top balcony. The hot tub was lovely. Our welcome was really great and so was the help with anything we needed during our stay. The property is big and styled really nicely. The showers were also great. Because the hot tub is inside the property gets really hot and wet which can't really be helped but just something to keep in mind when choosing to stay. The breakfast was a bit of a let down. There was a lot of choice and too much to eat but I wouldn't describe the quality as luxury

• Coppergreen (10/5): Do It. - Staying at Callia at the Dream Cave Suite was absolutely amazing. I saw the photos and it still exceeded my expectations. Things I loved: - Host - Christos was very accomodating. He arranged a pickup from the airport for us, and went through everything upon our arrival. He asked us to order breakfast, and for each subsequent day I just needed to request breakfast via whatsapp. Our port drop off was also arranged separately. Although we didn't request too much other than breakfast, I always felt that he was available if we needed. - Breakfast - amazing. Lots of options re eggs, bread, veggies, fruit. Breakfast was brought to the suite each morning so that it could be enjoyed on the terrace. Absolutely perfect. - Location - again, perfect. The view from the upstairs bedroom was amazing. It is behind a restaurant as other reviewers noted, but I didn't find it annoying at all. In fact, because it was in a back street I found it very quiet. Despite being in a little back street, it was still right around the corner from the main walking areas of Fira. Everything was nearby. The bus stop was less than 10 minutes, the cable car to the old port less than 5 minutes walk. You could faintly hear the sounds of the nightclubs in the early morning but easy to manage with earplugs. - Suite - the Dream Cave suite is a two bedroom suite with a direct view of the caldera from the smaller second bedroom. The main bedroom has a very large spa pool inside. Each bedroom has their own shower and toilet. The place is absolutely enormous, including a living room, dining room, kitchen and terrace. In short - I absolutely loved this place. I would stay here again for sure, and I would recommend it for up to 4 adults easily. Honestly, nothing. This location was the highlight of our holiday to Europe. Maybe the noise of the clubs from the main bedroom as I mentioned, but honestly it wasn't that big a deal. Just make the booking, you won't regret it.

The host went above and beyond for us, organising our transport both from the port and to the airport. The breakfast is also really nice - we loved the fact that they not only deliver the breakfast right to your door but they give you a great selection to choose from. The whirlpool on the patio was perfect to relax and unwind after a day in the sun and the views are just an amazing added bonus! The only thing I can think of is that due to the location, you may be able to hear the music from the nearby bars in the evenings. However this didn't disrupt us much and we were aware that this was probably to be expected considering how central the location is and the fact that our stay was in the height of tourist season.
