Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): Perfect đ„° - I booked my best friend a room with you guys after his wife had passed away 2 months previously so that he could cone over and spend a night with us all and the following day after his stay with you he said it was like home from home he wood defently stay again so friendly There was nothing to dis like and hew ever did wants there head feeling
- Redfern (8/5): -
- John (8/5): Quirky. - A very old fashioned Guest House. It was clean, bed was comfy and breakfast was decent. It's decorated in an older style but that doesn't make it bad. If you like modern this isnt for you, but if you like a break from modern corporate faceless hotels, you will love this.
- Stuart (10/5): I will likely stay here again - I was only there for one night, but I found the whole experience very easy and relaxing. I was greeted promptly on arrival and clearly told where everything was and asked what I wanted for breakfast. The room was spacious, clean, and felt peculiarly calming from the moment I walked in. I sat on the small sofa in the room and had really no inclination to leave, despite having not even had dinner yet. I was in room 4. I can't explain it. If I had to be picky, the room wasn't fully ensuite. My room had its own bathroom which was next door. It didn't really bother me though and felt quite charming really. I did have a sink in the room itself though.
- Deborah (9/5): Will definitely stay again - Beautiful building, super friendly staff who are happy to chat about history of the building, family photos on the walls etc. it's so lovely to see the originality of an old building like this. Good breakfast. Quiet hotel set back off the road.
- Louise (6/5): Good location. Beds comfortable. Shower hot. - Great location. Garden room great if you have dogs as there is a door straight out to the garden with no need to go through the hotel. Walls quite thin, able to hear phone ringing next door and voices.
Maybe a smile and a friendly good morning from the gentleman serving breakfast rather than a burly âwhat do you wantâ would have been nice! Dried over cooked bacon but the eggs were nice. We decided to go out for breakfast after the first morning.
- Adelle (10/5): Lovely quiet and comfy - Breakfast was nice really accommodating and lovely and welcoming Nothing
- Daniel (9/5): - A genuine time-served charm. 100% unmolested and authentic - we love it!! Err umm⊠nothing!
- Robbie (8/5): Worth the money, bed let the lodge down. - Staff were really polite , breakfast was lovely with a nice variety & free onsite parking. Located in a nice quiet area but close enough to the town. The double bed really let the place down as it was just 2 single mattresses pushed together & as we like to hold each other the person doing the holding was basically laying in a dip which was really uncomfortable.
- Lilianna (10/5): - Beautiful room đ comfortable bed đ really nice bathroom and delicious breakfast đ
I love everything,I will come back there. Everything was perfect đ
- Sue (9/5): -
- Joyce (8/5): - Comfortable with good breakfast. Near to friends, but along way from a main route south.
- Carl (10/5): Excellent and charming place - Lovely old house but with very clean and modern facilities. Nothing to dislike
- Carl (10/5): Excellent and charming place to stay. - Lovely old world charm alongside very clean modern facilities and comfortable bed. There was nothing to dislike.
- John (8/5): Good value - Clean, quiet and near train station. Breakfast was fine. Nice canal walk nearby and in a nice town. Staff were v nice. For the price it was v good value. Quite dated⊠but it was clean and comfortable and I do not want to quibble. Suggestion: it might be an idea to try to better screen off the kitchen and office areas a bit?
- Rebecca (7/5): -
- Aiden (9/5): - Lovely old country home, only 20 minutes by train to Manchester.
- Christopher (10/5): We would happily stay there again! - Beautiful old guest house with an incredible view of the Pennines from our bedroom windows. Delicious full English breakfast each day. Very friendly and kind hosts.
A short walk and youâre on the canal, heading into beautiful Marple. Nothing!
- Tim (10/5): Great service and a beautiful home. Amazing home cooked breakfast - Beautiful property, nice cosy room N/a
- TONY (7/5): Value for money - Great breakfas, good internet connection Decor was a little dated.
- Vernon (6/5): -
- Mary (9/5): A very enjoyable experience. Thank you. - A beautiful setting and house full of character. Loved it. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious. N/A
- Alexander (10/5): - Charmantes authentisches Guest House in Stile des alten England. Room Nr. 1 ist zu empfehlen (mit Bad en suit).
- VICKY (9/5): Comfortable stay, great value for money - Property with great character! Comfortable and spacious triple room, very clean, with plenty of off street parking in a great location. Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Leisure - Beautifully presented period property with loads of character and spotlessly clean. Amazing views too!
- Kate (10/5): Fantastic stay in a unique, warm b&b - The breakfast was good! Could have had an extra sausage but overall was tasty and I could have asked for it. The views from the room were extraordinary. The personnel and their kindness went a long way in making us feel welcome and comfortable. Very clean everywhere. Comfy beds. Ambiance and decor made us feel at home. Thank you! Shower pressure not great but was sufficient.

- Chrisie (8/5): A favourite place to stay - Location great. Short walk from Marple station. Characterful property and staff. Circular bus route to Stockport leaves from road outside. A selection of lovely pubs to choose from. Lovely walking country.
- Peter (3/5): Underwhelming - The breakfast was delicious!! Way overpriced
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Lorraine was lovely to chat to and the staff were friendly, the view made my stay. - Stunning view from my bedroom window. Beautiful Nothing
- Richard (8/5): Lovely comfortable clean stay - Clean, lovely breakfast Didnât know bathroom was not in bedroom
- chilvers (4/5): I didnât plan for my dog to be poorly - Breakfast was excellent as on previous visits.
The view is stunning from the dining room. I book the garden room as I have two dogs and only stay in that room. However, when I got there, I was told by Lorraine who I booked with direct that she had let it to someone else for a monthâŠwithout telling me. I have had 2 knee operations and never want to stay upstairs.
One of my dogs was very unsettled and pooed on the stairs and landing. I was rushing to get him out and didnât realise he had pooed on the stairs. It was very embarrassing. Thank you to Spencer for cleaning up. I was made to feel very ashamed by his Mum who told me one of the guests had stood in it. It happened again on the landing after taking him out, I cleaned up and Spencer, without judgement, followed along with carpet cleaner. Lorraine said if any guests complained she would send them to me.
I was staying with my daughter to help sort out her Fathers affairs after losing him before Xmas so this was all not good on top of everything.
Spencer offered us breakfast after the first event but ignored me after the second so I left the keys and went.
- overington (5/5): be flexible - this is the second time we have stayed here mainly for convience to where we need to visit /breakfast included/ and parking , the owners/staff are very friendly we booked ensuite both time the first room 11 had a pod instaled as ensuite the door opening not fully onto the bed , the ceiling is low at one point , our second stay room 3 large room ,the en suite was a seperate room ,the shower did not work either scalding or cold , transperent glass in the toilet door so make sure your friends /no lock ,I paid for a hotel not a Arkwright experience
- Olga (10/5): -
- Sheila (8/5): Lovely traditional guest house in a village setting. - Close to the railway station; spacious room with a wonderful view; excellent breakfast; friendly staff. The mattress was too soft and I needed better support for my back. However, I opted for the single bed and the double might have been better.
- Salem (5/5): -
- Grant (10/5): A very pleasant stay. - Great, place. Had a great stay in room 1. Ensuite bathroom was excellent, smart TV was excellent, breakfast was excellent. Overall, a very pleasant stay,
- Kate (7/5): - Very narrow staircase to top floor. If l stay again l would definitely ask for help with my luggage.
Wifi would be a good addition.
- Robbie-Lee (10/5): Best value, best comfort, best breakfast in Marple! - Very quirky place only a 7 minute walk into the beautiful town of Marple. The breakfast was unbelievably good quality. The chef was very kind. The lady that runs it was also very friendly. The batteries in the TV remote were low.
- daniel (10/5): -
- Michelle (7/5): -
- Samantha (8/5): Comfortable, Clean and Friendly. - The B&B building was stunning, with original outside tiling area and lovely stain glass windows, with off road parking. Easy walking distance for town and railway line. Staff very helpful and friendly. I was there for 4 nights, by myself and felt very comfortable and at ease. The hot breakfast could have had some better quality sausages. I ended up, having bacon and eggs. I did ask for soft fried eggs but ended up with hard yolks, most mornings. Since I only eat the yolk, it was disappointing.
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Robin (8/5): Very good value for money and very friendly and welcoming. - Breakfast made to order and served promptly. Nice quiet location with lovely views out the back. Spacious room.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Catriona (10/5): - A pleasant and comfortable stay. The room was big and immaculately clean. The breakfast was tasty and the staff very helpful and friendly. I wouldnât hesitate to stay again
- Pemberton (9/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Iâd love to visit again but would need assurance of a softer mattress. - Great traditional oldie worldie small hotel feel. Spacious room with plenty of furniture and a glorious view over the garden to the hills beyond. Great breakfast choice and prompt attention from the proprietor. The double bed in Room 2 is very hard and my partner got back ache. The settee is very low and could be difficult for some to get up off. The en suite bathroom was rather cold ( though this was a cold January visit)
- Agbenyegah (6/5): -
- Linsay (8/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Another lovely and comfortable stay for my parents at Oakfield Lodge- thank you. - Parents are always very happy with their stay here when they come to visit. Especially happy with the room view, the breakfast and the service from Lorraine and Spencer. N/a
- Melanie (8/5): Comfortable and clean. - Breakfast was OK (but not what I would call a full English). Parking and location were good. Night staff were very friendly. Morning less so. Hash browns were needed. More friendly breakfast server.
- Rachael (10/5): -
- Ann (8/5): -
- Claire (9/5): Delightful old property with every thing you need and great breakfast included. Good value. - Wow! if you like staying in a beautiful, Victorian property, with loads of character, this place is for you. I felt like I was in a Miss Marple or Poirot film set. It's delightfully old-fashioned, but with everything you need. Staff (the extended family who own and manage the property) are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Plenty of parking. Everywhere was lovely and warm. Comfy bed. Wifi good. Liked having a sink in my room and sharing the bathroom was not an issue. I would definately go again. I thought it was great value for money, particularly with breakfast included. I would choose this over Premier Inn every time. Nothing really. The stairs up to the top floor are a bit steep and narrow, but I'm 64 and a little bit tottery and I just took my time. Worth it for the lovely view from my bedroom window.
- Joanna (7/5): -
- Sharon (7/5): A beautiful and clean period house with original features and lovely furnishings. The staff are not welcoming but the br - The house, its features, furniture and ornaments.
Parking available on site. The beam above the bed in the room, myself and my partner hit our head on it.
- Ciara (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - breakfast. room. and, staff.
- Steven (8/5): -
- David (9/5): it was good - it's convenient nothing
- Alistair (7/5): Very pleasant . Perhaps a bit of an update to facilities would be good - Breakfast was nice , friendly staff . Charming atmosphere En suite loo
- Sarah (8/5): Traditional BnB, comfy, clean and tasty breakfast - Comfy beds, lovely breakfast. Welcoming staff. Traditional bed and breakfast with no fuss. Very clean. Easy to find and good space for parking. Lovely, tasty cooked breakfast at great price.

- Greg (8/5): Good value for money, good breakfast and great old house. - Eccentric big, old house. And I loved it!
Great views out of the back dinning room. A little old fashioned perhaps, but value for money and friendly staff. There are a lot of stairs! Not a bother for me personally, but my dad found it a bit of a struggle.
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Loved it would stay there again if in the area - Old fashioned charm. Excellent staff who were very welcoming . Full English breakfast recommended!
- Edward (7/5): -
- Grant (8/5): Pleasant Stay - Friendly owners, very clean and tidy, lovely cooked breakfast. TV in room was a bit dated.
No bodywash in ensuite shower.
- David (9/5): Secure safe clean friendly and good value for money. - Easy to find, clean although slightly outdated in style, very friendly staff, great english breakfast, great value for money.
Would recommend. Hard to say anything bad when there wasn't anything.
- Karen (7/5): - Last time I stayed cooked breakfast was included. I paid ÂŁ68 through booking.com in Oct then only ÂŁ55 in November. However through booking.com that I use regularly when working away you get discounts on rooms. Had to pay ÂŁ5 for cooked breakfast. As a light eater I paid it however only had full breakfast yet only asked for a half portion. Wasn't ask how I ate my eggs and was given brown bread yet whilst away I usually go for white as a treat. Comfortable stay thankfully đ All ok đ
- Martin (10/5): Very convenient, warm and friendly - Lovely room, great location, excellent staff and service. Fully satisfied.
- Marie (10/5): My No 1 on my bucket list to return to Marple Bridge, my childhood home was everything I dreamed of. - The property was like going back in time. It was old fashioned yet beautiful. Clean, tidy, comfortable and very welcoming. Staff were exceptional. Location was amazing.
