Guest Reviews
- Christine (10/5): Loved it - Great location- close to everything walkable
- CECILE (8/5): - Nice hotel with friendly staff in a perfect location. Will come back
- Gustavo (8/5): - Location was perfect. Room was good enough, particularly liked the separated wc from shower. Questions were not answered within a day.
- Christine (8/5): - Our room was clean, the staffs are helpful
- Lina (8/5): - Lots of Cafe restaurants
- Penelope (10/5): - Châtelet is in the centre of Paris, right next to Seine river. The hotel is clean, safe, the room a good size for the price. We got a last-minute deal that was incredible so no complaints here. Location is the best and my giant window in my room was beautiful.
- Shervin (10/5): - Amazing hotel, the renovations were still happening when we were staying there, but it was coming together and I can only imagine how awesome it looks now.
The rooms were super modern, and clean with great big windows to the street which would fill up with light every morning which was awesome. The bed and the washroom was super clean as well.
The staff were super polite, friendly and helpful.
There was a young lady at the reception most days and she was super kind and always ready to help.
Also she spoke perfect English, which even made it better.
The room was huge too, compared to the other hotels that I have stayed at in Paris.
Considering the location and room conditions during the high season they offered the best pricing and experience possible.
Can’t wait to see what the hotel will look like when the renovations are fully done.
- Andrew (8/5): - The hotel is in a great location. It is very close to the Louvre, Notre Dame, and several metro stations. Very walkable and surrounded by cafes and shops. The room was nice, but a little bit dirty. There are lots of stairs but they do have a small elevator.
- Georgene (10/5): - The staff was kind and always helpful. The room was nice and the location was great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great location ONLY - No AC, no tea/coffee making facilities or room safe box as described when booking the rooms. Buffet Breakfast was not available due to renovations but gave voucher to use at local boulangerie but limited to 5 items in total and not buffet. They did refund us for the breakfast swiftly.
- Heidi (10/5): - This is a wonderful location. Just steps from all the activity.
- Daniel (6/5): - Property well located, waking distance to Nothre Dame and Louvre Museum.
- visa (6/5): - Young adults were having a parties in the street until morning.
- Melissa (8/5): - We had room 36 it was quite large for Paris hotel rooms. The beds are very comfortable and the big plus is that they have a smart Tv so we were able to watch a movie before bed. The view from our room was magnificent and check in and check out was a breeze. The staff is 10/10 very helpful. Unfortunately, because of the reception area and dining area renovations the entrance of the hotel looks terrible. They still offer breakfast you just get it from a Boulangerie across the street. The location is top notch if you want to walk around and see Notre Dame. Plenty of restaurants in the area. I would likely stay here again, the only thing that would have made it perfect is if there was AC, however, they do give you two fans. Side note: they do not have shampoo, conditioner or any bathroom products, this is normal at the hotels in Paris. I am a spoiled Canadian who expected there to be the basics but alas I was incorrect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room and hotel was great! But not having AC on the top floor was a bit uncomfortable during summer months.
- Kenneth (8/5): Lovely stay in central Paris - Awesome location, reasonable price. Desk staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. Only “complaint” was that we were there during a heat wave and there was no AC. A fan helped keep it tolerable. Lively neighborhood - lots of street noise till midnight or so - easily addressed with earplugs.
- Bruce (6/5): - It's very close to both Notre-Dame and the Louvre
- Kimberly (10/5): - Great location friendly staff
- Stephen (6/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is in a terrific location for tourist sites, and lots of decent cafes and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is a little tired and expensive for what it is, but I suspect many others are similar
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff was awesome! The hotel is convenient to dining. Area was safe. It’s very affordable. The room is tiny, very tiny. Our window wouldn’t close completely. Would we stay there again? For a couple of nights, sure. It provides ample accommodations at a decent price.
- Christine (10/5): - A hidden gem in the heart of Paris. The hotel was easy to find, staff were very welcoming and our room was wonderful.
I would highly recommend and will return when next in Paris!
- christopher (10/5): - Very helpful staff & excellent location.
- Steven (6/5): - The location of this hotel is excellent; very easy access to Metro and buses, to the Ile de la Cite and major attractions. The price is reasonable for Paris. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The lobby and public areas are shabby and need a thorough cleaning, and the the lift is unreliable. With a little more investment in the appearance of the public areas, this could be a very good hotel.
- Clarence (10/5): - Mahalo!
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent location. Small rooms but excellent. I would definitely stay again
- Raz (4/5): - No wifi. Room just renovated, still with fresh paint smell. Room wasn't clean(bundles of hair)
Elevator didn't work for 2/3 days
- Marcela (10/5): - Loved the location for this property. It was within walking distance of everything I needed, bank, grocery store, shopping, sites and great eats/drinks.
The staff was friendly. The room was a great size for two. Recommend and would stay there again.
- Hyunjeung (2/5): -
- Seema (10/5): - Good stay
- Graham (4/5): Poor value for money. - Small cramped room. Not even room for bedside tables. No safe or tea or coffee in room. Very small bathroom, with tiles that needed a good wash.Very small elevator; the two of us could not get in with our backpacks. Worn stair carpet on lower floors. This was our last stop in a tour of 9 cites and by some margin the most expensive yet smallest room.
- Francine (8/5): - No fridge and safe box in the room.
- justin (10/5): - Great little hotel close to the louvre
- Philip (10/5): - Great location; helpful staff
- Diana (10/5): - A wonderful little hotel, right in the middle of a busy area but quiet, clean, perfect for getting around the city.
Staff are great.
My second time and i will be back!!
- Gary (8/5): Great location, simple accommodations, good value. - Just a block to the Seine and and bridge to Ile de Cite, close to Metro, bus and train lines (including the Airport Train). The folks at the desk were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was simple but tasty. The room was clean and comfortable but was short on furnishings. Not really a problem since we were just sleeping there. We used the single desk chair as a luggage rack for the second bag as we were living out of the suitcases due to the limited closet with 3 hangers,. The bathroom was "cozy" and it looked like some shelves and towel bars had been been removed, leaving it challenging to keep personal item in there. Overall it was a good value and an authentic Paris experience.
- Everett (8/5): - Great location. Very close to many tourist sites. Good price.
- Michelle (6/5): Comfortable but still has work to be done - It was a cute place bnear a lot of things to do. However they are undergoing renovations so it was quite noisy during work hours and a couple small things were not finished or need to be fixed in my room. Also they seem to have painted over a lot of the charming wallprints in the photos so I hope they add that back in! The bed was very very comfortable and it was perfect size wise for solo travelers!
- STANLEY (8/5): - A newly redecorated minimalist room close to many attractions. A few more ammenities would be helpful.
- Danny (8/5): - I’m sure it is part of remodeling but it will be great if I had shower booth. All of staff was excellent. Service was great.
- Philip (10/5): - Great location, great value for money, staff friendly and attentive.
- amy (10/5): - Great location. Room was great. The stars of this hotel are the front desk staff so friendly and helpful. Only negative is no AC. Our stay was mid-October but the temps were in the 70s at night and we had trouble sleeping without AC. Keeping windows open was not enough.
- paula (10/5): Nice hotel - Loved it here , lots of stairs (there is a small lift which we never noticed) little noisy , but it’s a city . Free breakfast was great , staff friendly and helpful , we had a big room and was right next to the metro with a few nice eating places nearby , was nice and cozy
- john (6/5): Great location - Great location, small room, reasonable breakfast
- Suzanne (6/5): Great location but needs improvement - Great location but hotel very old fashioned, carpets need changing and general decor improvement. Would absolutely stay in the area again as location was fantastic.
- Scott (10/5): - The layout of the hotel is a bit strange and the lobby/stairs had an odd smell but the rooms were well maintained and clean and the staff was very nice and helpful.
- Francois (4/5): Old, smelly and dirty hotek - The hotel and the rooms are totally wore down and minuscule. Despite the hotel’s excellent location in the center of Paris, it was a very poor experience and we looked at other alternatives during the trip.
- Ryan (6/5): All about location… - Accommodating and friendly service in a convenient location, walkable to centrally located sites and transit. Overall condition of the hotel is a bit tired, and the Wi-Fi service is spotty. Bed was comfortable, and the room included an oscillating fan.
- Angela (10/5): - Loved our stay here. It was such a perfect location. Restaurants & subway close by and a lot of major attractions within walking distance.
- Michael (2/5): WORST HOTEL IN PARIS - The worst hotel in paris, very rude reception
- Stephanie (8/5): - Very lovely vintage vibe, very close to everything you could want or need.
- Christopher (10/5): - The folks at Reception were excellent, including the one who prepared my wife a simple meal after we arrived much later than expected (at night) with which she had to take meds.
Great location. Room was basic but had everything we needed - except the WiFi, which was difficult and slow. Again, the staff was very accommodating.
- J (6/5): Not great value - Good location but very small room for the money. Hotel is above a tube line, can be noisy.
- CRISTINA (10/5): - Nice people
- Carol (8/5): - It was a great place to stay, Friendly collaborative staff. Just a little tired.
- Minny (10/5): - Wonderfully location and very helpful stuff .definitely would like to come again if coming to Paris
- Anthony (2/5): - Carpet every where and dirty toilet seats. We ask the front desk to have it cleaned up and they said they would send someone. They never came. The receptionist rebudle was that they have a manager that check after the cleaning staff and it was impossible tthat it would be dirty... eventhough we had pictures. Which means that the cleaning staff incompetent, the manager is incompetent and the receptionist is incompetent in addition to be rude and calling its customers liars! It's a shame
- Whitney (8/5): - Great location, perfect for our overnight in Paris
- Ryan (6/5): Average price for money. Good location. - Hotel itself is very very old the bathrooms have been upgraded.
Kinda noisy outside but easy to get to the metro.
- Michael (4/5): - The pictures must be of rooms that we were not offered. It felt low budget, dirty floors, no AC and the elevator was broken. But centrally located and staff was kind enough.
- Carla (10/5): - The Hotel Victoria Chatelet is in a great location for sightseeing in Paris!!! It is near to numerous attractions, the Seine is only two blocks away, a metro station is right there, and many restaurants and shops are nearby. We cannot say enough about the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. They were very welcoming!! The rooms were clean and cleaned daily. The hotel is not fancy or new and the hallways are very narrow. These are just facts not negative points. We were the type of tourists who were up early, gone all day, and returned back late in the evening to fall asleep immediately to begin again the next day. This is the perfect hotel for that type of trip.
- Lori (4/5): - If you are 20 and plan to party all night this place has great location but overlooks construction and 2 VERY LOUD bars
Police came after 1 AM
But there is no air conditioning so have to open windows with all noise coming in
Just NOT that inexpensive for condensations
Expedia should warn customers about noise!!!
Elevator not working
Bathroom and shower TINY!
Staff very nice but might have slept better at the airport!!
- Anna (6/5): - The good: I can’t overstate enough how much the staff were lovely, kind, and helpful; the property was very conveniently located near the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the RER and metro; sheets and towels were clean; the tea provided in the room was fantastic!
The “Meh”: not all rooms are created equal. My booking had two rooms on different floors. The room on the second floor felt smaller and had a very tight shower that would be unusable for plus size individuals. In addition, there were no light blocking curtains, which was frustrating for one person in our group. US visitors should note that there is no air conditioning - opening windows is an option, but even heavy sleepers may be bothered by sirens, construction, etc.
The bad: the carpet throughout is in dire need of replacement with visible staining, my room on the fourth floor appeared to have an ant infestation - I would not recommend leaving any food on the counter.
- Claude (6/5): Location and friendly people - We stayed there for 7 days. The staff was friendly and very courteous, the breakfast was correct for a continental breakfast and every morning we were welcomed by friendly people. Our room was partially renovated bathroom was very nice, room was standard size, but carpet was very diry and stained. We never walked bare foot. We were facing the street and there was 2 bars just beside hotel and it was very noisy till late evening. As there is no air conditionning we opened the window and was getting worse. So not to be upset all days we decided to joint people at the bar…
This is an hotel that need to be remodeled, but if you want an hotel that offer best location at fair price this is the place. We took bus only for Eiffel tower. All other Landmarks were within walking distance from Hotel. Of course If i decide to go there again I will call before to make sure room will be cleaner.
- Zaiwei (10/5): - Great location with easy to most attraction. Stuff are very nice and helpful. For an example, at last day (I was stayed for 6 days) I wanted to visit the Museum Orsay but it was hard to get tickets. Two stuff tried everything eventually found tickets for me. Room was clean and when you open windows you can enjoy nice sunshine. It also very safe because stuff is always around in 24hours.
- Demitrius (10/5): - This little hotel was perfect! The French doors that opened to the city streets was magical! The staff was friendly and the room was spacious. I could walk to any and every store for eating or shopping. I will definitely stay here again!
- Christopher (6/5): - Good location, close to Metro and Notre Dame. Some good restaurants close by. Busy location, always seemed safe, even late.
- grace (8/5): - The room was clean, the breakfast was not always supplied well. Some days we had to ask for things. The coffee maker was a joke.
- SYLWIA (6/5): - Hotel ok, nice people, very good location in the city. but really run down, pictures don’t show the real room look and bathrooms. Only two tea, two instant coffees no milk. Visually very disappointing.
- Heidi (8/5): - Great location, walking distance to many sights. I would stay again.
- Kate (8/5): - Perfect location for everything. Excellent breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff.
- Ricardo (6/5): - Liked location and friendly reception. Disliked bad WiFi connection and second twin room much smaller than first and I payed for two twin rooms
- Philip (10/5): - Great location
- Sarah (6/5): Hotel Victoria Chatelet - Great stay. Friendly staff. Wi-Fi didn’t work which was frustrating
- KEVIN (10/5): - Yes, it is an older building, yes, the wifi is very slow and sometimes non-existent... BUT, the staff are incredible, and the location is the best !!
Will definitely stay here again.
- Rebeka (8/5): - The hotel was clean, the staff was kind, and the location was close to many sites. Merci!
- Tong (10/5): - The location is fantastic. The room/bed was ok. The front desk staff were very nice
- Steven (2/5): Extremely poor hotel good location - Shocking hotel nothing like advertised, it was noisy and a very dirty hotel construction site out side windows not worth the money we paid .
Noisy pub next door went on till 3am site construction started at 7am avoid at all costs
- Yorvis (6/5): Great location extraordinary staff - Great staff, all at front desk are welcoming and extraordinary. Housekeeping was really really good. Unfortunately, there is no much the housekeeping can do for the carpets, we were concerned of not wearing shoes inside the room
- Nilufar (8/5): Great little boutique hotel with great location. - This hotel has one of the best locations. It is central to most sites in Paris. There is a metro station right outside the front door of the hotel. There are lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. There is a noisy bar right outside which could get loud late at night. The staff are super friendly. The room itself is kind of tiny and old but that's what you get in Europe. I loved this hotel and will absolutely consider staying there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good hotel unless you're a light sleeper - I spent a short while at the hotel in preparation to go to the airport the next morning. The staff were friendly, but the room was too warm (no central HVAC), and the only way to cool the room down was to open the window.
Even with the window closed, the noise from the street was too loud easily up till 3:30am. So if you're a light sleeper, avoid.
- Sean (10/5): Great stay, one block from the Seine. - Excellent stay in the heart of the city just steps away from the metro and the Seine. We were greeted by nice and helpful people at the front desk every time we arrived or departed. Room was perfect. Would use this property again for sure.
- shelan (8/5): - We had a lovely stay - the location is fantastic.
- Diego (8/5): - Very friendly staff, near main attractions
- padmaja (10/5): - Central location
- Chyrisse (4/5): - There was no-one there to assist with luggage when we arrived.
The elevator is very small and when could not fit two suitcases and two people on elevator at one time. We had to use the elevator one at a time or have one person walk the 4 flights.
The toilet was down a corridor within the bedroom. After using the toilet you had to walk into the main part of the bedroom to the shower and sink to wash your hands.
We experience with the WiFi but it was repaired once we informed the gentleman at the front desk.
The property is right in the middle of the city and convent to many attractions right in the heart of Paris. This helped to make up for the inconveniences.
- Susan (6/5): tiny but nice - The room was very tiny, but it seemed pretty clean. The location was incredible, less than a block from the Seine, and so close to everything. The staff was super kind and attentive. Not a luxurious accommodation, but very pleasant.
- John (10/5): - Homeless all around. Creepy. Shameful.
- Kemper (6/5): - This property was a great room and great location. No complaints here! They have a policy for you to leave your keys at the front desk anytime you leave the property and they do not have you confirm your identity when picking them back up. All night long, someone was running up and down the hallway banging on doors. The walls are paper thin, so if sleep is a high priority and you’re a less than heavy sleeper, that may be hard to come by at this property. Overall, I would not stay again.
- Kenneth (6/5): - The staff was courteous and helpful and the hotel location is excellent. Breakfast was a bit limited, but acceptable. Internet connectivity was poor to nonexistent.
- Robert (6/5): Good location but way overpriced - The hotel is in excellent location, and the receptionists are extremely helpful and approachable.
The building is a little outdated, the room was warm, but the lights so bad my wife needed her phone torch to put on make up. The housekeeper did not come until 3pm. The breakfast area is tiny, not buffet, they bring a piece of baguette, a croissant, a pain au chocolat, a glass of orange juice and tea/coffee. Cheese cream, butter, two jams. Not continental, no eggs, no meat products.
Although the location is excellent, it is way too expensive for such basic hotel.
- Norman (8/5): - Love the service we received from the staff. Always friendly and welcoming. The rooms and towels could have been cleaner
- RICHARD (2/5): - Do not stay here. The rooms are as small as you can imagine. Imagine a toilet fewer than two feet from where you lay your head on a pillow. No ventilation, either.
Cleanliness is mediocre at best. It was so bad that we booked for four nights and left after one. It’s more a hostel for 18 year old backpackers who don’t have standards or expectations. We chose the place because it was centrally located. But honestly that’s its only feature.
- Tatiana (8/5): Perfect location in Central Paris - Perfect location/ close to everything
- Sarah (6/5): - Excellent and helpful staff. Very convenient location. Double room was tiny. It would be difficult to have more than one small roller bag in the room. Toilet was in a separate room right next to the bed, so you had to go to the separate shower / sink room to wash hands. That was a bit strange. No air conditioning, but there was a small lift.
- Shuohao (4/5): - The room has no window facing outside, so there’s no fresh air flow, except from the air within the building. The only desk was greasy. The room is on the top floor, and hot. The reception said the room has an air conditioner, but in fact it’s an old fan which you can put water at the bottom, which made the room even more humid and smelly.
- Nikki (8/5): - Wonderful helpful staff and fantastic location
- Raz (10/5): - Great location.
Small room as described
- Joseph (10/5): - No complaints at all. Will be using again
- Logan (10/5): - Great hotel if you want to be nearby the Louvre or the Orsay. Keep in mind this is an older, European hotel so the bathrooms are rooms are smaller for first time Paris visitors. Hotel staff were AMAZING. welcoming and friendly each AM and PM.
- Susan Vaicius (10/5): - We stayed at Hotel Victoria for a week and it truly felt like our home in Paris! The staff was incredible, the location could not have been more perfect! We cannot wait to go back, and we will definitely stay here again!
