- Helen (10/5): - Giovanni was an excellent host and very helpful. The video sent to us prior to arrival showing how to find our room was so good and precise. Our room was clean and spacious, with tea and coffee facilities. The private terrace and breakfast provided was plentiful and the staff were so friendly. Would definitely recommend this property, very quiet but only a few minutes walk to the busy streets of Matera. Many happy memories made. Thank you.

- Kate (8/5): - Room was well appointed, comfortable, very clean (5 person room). Great location - easy access to best places. Excellent recommendations for birthday dinner night life from host. The breakfast was simple (pastries, juice, yogurt, espresso ) - fresh fruit / variation of pastry would have been nice. Breakfast is outside on terrace with great views. Bathroom is modern with nice towels. Good wifi. Things to know: 1) Hard to find at night couldn’t see “Le Corte” sign at top of stairs (sign needs lighting at night and a separate sign by the alleyway directing guests up the final set of stairs to main house (host sent instructional video but couldn’t download and we spent 1/2 hour in alleyway below unit during an already late arrival with lots of luggage not knowing where to go); 2) Public parking suggested by the host worked well and is secure. Would be helpful for host to send public parking address / website link to guests in advance as my gps did not get us to the correct spot at first. 3) Walk from public parking with luggage is ~10 minutes (can roll luggage through square) but gps sent us the long way to the square when there was a much easier way. Would be better and more helpful if the host provided a walking map from the public parking to the square. 4) Once through the square requires going down several sets of stairs and uneven alleyway and you must carry your luggage 5) No air conditioning or a fan. More air circulation needed to be comfortable.

- Daniel (10/5): Wunderschöne Unterkunft in zentraler Lage - Wir waren 2 Nächte im Classic-Doppelzimmer. Unser Zimmer und die gesamte Unterkunft ist wunderschön, sauber und geräumig. Die Lage ist zentral und ein super Ausgangspunkt um die Stadt zu erkunden. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker (italienisches Frühstück- süß) und vor Ort ist eine supernette Dame, die sich um alles kümmert und gute Tipps hat. Wir haben uns sehr wohl hier gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder hier buchen.

- Denies (6/5): - Die Lage und der Ausblick waren sehr gut. Die Matratze und die Kissen waren sehr hart.Es war ein unangenehmer Geruch im Zimmer. Am entäuschensten war das inclusive "Frühstück" eine Platte mit aufgebackenen süssen Ministückchen und ein Kuchen absolut nichts anderes wie auf den Bildern. Eingedeckt drinnen an einem grossen Tisch nicht auf der schönen Terasse.
- MARIA (4/5): EXCELLENT LOCATION, AVERAGE SERVICES - Amazing location, beautiful view. Great matress and hot water. Breakfast is cofee, juice, yogurt and 2 sweet pastries. Very poor. Only sweet, nothing savory. Cleaningness was below average. we had dirty cutlery with Nutella ( I hope), hair & stains everywhere, We booked a superior room, but because of wrong double booking, we were given the cave room, with no other option. You should never give the cave room, without asking first. If you are even a bit claustrophobic, you are done. Too damp and cold (12 Celsius). Waking up in the morning with a headache, runny nose & sore throat, due to the humidity. If you ask for the cave room, you kind of expect that, but if you didnt ask for it, its a problem. You can only sleep with the dehumidifier by the bed working in full power, so if you need quiet to sleep, its a problem. The owner refused to turn on the heating for more than 1 hour per day, because she said ''it is summer''. Meanwhile, the heating in the reception area, where the owner spends her day, was working in full power, all day long. The lady speaks no english, spanish or anything else than Italian. Thats probably why I never got a reply to an email and message I sent 20 days before arriving, asking for directions. Overall, it is in a great spot, in the Sassi and 3 mins from the cafes & restaurants, but the service, cleaning, switch of rooms to the cave with no notice, unwilingness to turn the heat, poor breakfast made it a firm NO.
- Anthony (10/5): - Norica, was a very gracious and helpful host … the facilities are great and the breakfast was supplied every day which was a great way to start the day. The location is perfect and only a short walk and a few stairs to one of the main piazza’s … plenty of dining and drink options with only a short walk to other piazza’s. Access to the sassi’s are also easy and close. We’d highly recommend a guided walking tour to get the history from an expert. We will be back next visit to Italy :)
- Miho (8/5): Comfortable and clean place - It was a beautiful place and we were quite comfortable. Our room was inside the main building and the rooms outside looked more private. No explanations of laundry facility and we couldn’t wash our clothes, our room had nowhere to dry or hang. Modern shower, good bathroom, fast internet. The breakfast was simple: fresh pastry, machine coffee, packed fruit juice, yogurt.

- Catherine (8/5): - Unique stay in the Sassi (old town) of Matera. The accommodation is in a cave type room (no windows), it can also be quite damp. The location is fantastic and very easy to find with the hosts instruction. There is no laundry at this location, all though it was advertised.

- Alvin (10/5): Unique sassi stay ... - We had a lovely stay, Marta provided us with excellent information. We were lucky to have an upgrade and was given the studio room. It was spacious with authentic cave room experience. The closest and cheapest pay parking is approx. 11 mins. walk. I strongly encourage travelling light as you will be dragging your suitcases in uneven surfaces. Breakfast is ok, enough to give you energy to start your day. The host will make you a nice Italian coffee. The room is clean, strategically located near amazing restaurants and popular sites, with lovely owners, so if this is what you need, then you are in the right place.

The accommodation was very comfortable with all the modern touches that you would expect in a conventional hotel but in a cave! - Pamela (10/5): - La Corte Vetere is in the heart of old Matera which is magnificent. It is impossible to get to by car so we were met in the main square and escorted - we would never have found it ourselves! But this was part of the magic, the labyrinth of ancient streets is quite extraordinary. We had been allocated a double room and needed a twin room so the owner quickly offered us a suite at no extra charge. This was in a cave dug into the rock but beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was ample and served on a small terrace with a view over the town. For anyone with mobility problems Matera would be very challenging as the streets twist and turn with lots of steps and polished stones but for anyone else it’s a very special place not to be missed. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and this was a great start to our holiday in southern Italy.
- Maralyn (10/5): - La Matera can be a difficult place to negotiate. Nothing is easy and everything requires long walks over uneven stones. It is however well worth the effort. Our hotel is just immediately away from the main square. A SHORT walk (you’re going to thank me for this) and you arrive at a fabulous small hotel (the owner came to the square to walk us over). I could describe it all but I’m on vacation. Just GO it’s great.

- Patricia (10/5): I Loved It!❤️ - La Corte Vetere was all I'd hoped it would be! Charming,clean, and right in the heart of the Sassi. The rooms have names, I was in the one called Camino. The breakfast was simple but nice and a little patio of to the side gave you a spectacular view.

- peter (10/5): Well located, great view of the Sassi - Room No. 2 was large and airy, great shower and with a fabulous view over the Sassi. The continental breakfast is simple; eating outside in the front courtyard was very pleasant. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The B&B is very well located under the Duomo and the walk to get to it from Piazza Sedile is not too far nor is the walk down to Via Fiorentini where there are some good restaurants. The mattress was a bit soft and there is no cooling but in mid June with the windows open at night it was cool and easy to sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location with nice views - Pros- great location to see sassi, loved the professional Music studio that filled the area with sounds of musical instruments, great view from our window, staff helpful about giving directions when they were there, nice courtyard with view to enjoy a drink, room had a sofa bed with a bit firmer mattress that I was able to use. Cons- really soft bed that sagged a bit in middle and made sleeping uncomfortable and difficult. Don't stay here if you need a firm mattress, breakfast was typical Italian breakfast with yogurt, pastries, fruit and coffee..no protein offered, staff wasn't always available to get assistance.
- Jennifer (10/5): Unique and memorable accomodation - We stayed in the luxurious cave suite. It was an experience unlike any other. The ambience was set with beautiful lighting which made for a magical and surreal atmosphere.

Access to hotel requires a bit of a walk in the old city up and down stone stairways and through stone alleyways. Fun, but don't try to carry much and you'll be unable to roll your roller bags.
