Guest Reviews
- Timothy (10/5): Excellent as always - Have zero worries here. Safe and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was a beautiful building, with large rooms, a rooftop deck, and lovely communal areas
- Timothy (10/5): Great location and quiet - My 5th time staying here. Always excellent
- Kristen (8/5): Cheap and nice enough with a kitchen - I enjoyed my one night at this hotel. The people who picked me up at the airport were wonderful--it was like being picked up by longtime friends. Their English was much better than my Spanish so communication was fine. Check in was easy, and they showed me how to use the keys, what was offered in the kitchen, and talked about the local area. I was greeted in the morning with a cup of tea, and she made sure I had advice on what to do with my day, how to find things, and how to get back into the hotel with the key. But when I returned later there was no staff, or other guests either, and I was alone in a dark building. I am sure when it is busy season the place is busy with people, because the shared kitchen (the biggest reason I booked this hotel) seems to be well used. Hot water was nonexistent ....not sure if I was doing something wrong or not because there was nobody there to ask in the evening. I am not sure if I would stay there again because of the lack of hot water, but the people were nice, the kitchen was great, and the area was safe and nice. There is an easy little shop across the street that was open later than every other shop on a Sunday. I did take a taxi to and from the old town because it was raining-- was less than $6 USD each way, but it was a bit far to walk even without the rain. When I booked I thought I could walk to and from the old town, but there is also a trolley station very close by.
- andrew (8/5): Excellent value b+b in a convenient location. - Our room with en-suite shower room was on the ground floor. Everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen, which is available for use, was adequately equipped and clean. David and his mother are incredibly helpful and friendly, and can arrange airport transfers at a discount to the standard price.
The WiFi signal was strong and as quick as we have found in South America.
There is some neighborhood noise unfortunately, namely dogs, so light sleepers might want to take precautions (e.g. earplugs).
If I revisit Quito, I would be very happy to stay at Casa Agua Camela again, although I would be sure to bring earplugs next time.
- Joumana (10/5): A little sanctuary - We unfortunately only stay one night in this beautiful converted house. David was amazing, very welcoming and reall helpful. The room was big and comfortable, there were great hang out spots and good kitchen. We would definately recommend staying here as it was one of our favourite city stays so far.
- Timothy (10/5): Nice and quiet, but near everything - Everything was great
- Greg (10/5): Sanctuary in the Center of Quito - David and his mother Luli made our stay in Quito like visiting family. This beautiful, funky 70-year-old casa with 9 guestrooms was like going home. Not a Hostel, not a Hotel, but in-between. Our private room had a comfortable King-sized bed and a private bath. Perfectly secure, and SILENT at night. I mean, in a city of 2.6 million people, it was SILENT AT NIGHT. For $16.00 a night. Are you kidding me? Kitchen down the hall, if you feel like morning coffee, or cooking three meals a day to stay within your budget. Adorable rooftop garden to kick back and meditate in, including adorable cat. David picked us up at the airport, and brought us right to the front door. Bus station three blocks away, 25 cents to anywhere in the city, or, two bucks for a cab. If you are wanting to add the capital of Ecuador to your itinerary, and are on any kind of a budget, and feel a bit adventurous, get to Casa Agua Canela!
