- Christy (10/5): Pleasing for a one night stay in a sweet little town. I wish we had a little more time there. - Location and views Price was a little high
- Kimmitt (9/5): -
- Barry (10/5): - Beautifully renovated historic gem in the middle of Beaufort. Great for a romantic getaway. The staff were very Welcoming and assisted with all aspects of our vacation.
- Lorri (10/5): - I loved everything about this historical home! The energy that Amy, Frank, Anne, JoAnn, Emma, the clean crew, and the chef-yum, exude is amazing. Felt like it was my home.
- Sarah (10/5): - The view!
- marcia (10/5): - The property is lovely with a beautiful view. Breakfast is wonderful. The staff was kind, helpful and attentive.
- karen (8/5): - The room we chose had a water view. Wonderful. Except that there is a porch outside that anyone from the hotel can access and it looks right into the room. So we had the blinds down and couldnt enjoy the view. If I had known I would have opted for a more private room. Breakfast was good. Bikes available to use. Excellent location near bars and restaurants and shops.
- Julia (10/5): Lowcountry Charm - During our stay in beautiful Beaufort, SC, we had the pleasure of staying at the Anchorage 1770 — a stunning historic waterfront inn full of Southern charm. From the sweeping gallery porches to the cozy rooms and breathtaking views of the bay, it was the perfect Lowcountry retreat. The complimentary breakfast is wonderful and made to order.
- JULIA (10/5): - Well restored historic Inn. Wonderful breakfast and welcoming staff. Walk to marina, restaurants and shops.
- Thomas (10/5): - Lots of racket at 2am from plumbing problem in room above
- Judy R (10/5): - Once again my husband and I stayed at Anchorage 1770 for the Beaufort air show. What a lovely, unique place to stay. From check in to departure, everything was wonderful. The rooms are special and unique. The bed was super comfortable and the upgraded bathroom was perfect. We enjoyed all the thoughtful touches that the owners manage to provide. Breakfast was delicious - compliments to the Chef!
- Fred (10/5): - Great destination for a weekend trip.
- Dana (10/5): - What a wonderful place to stay! Room was beautiful. Bed super comfy. Owners were lovely! So friendly!!! Loved the cookies at turn down. Morning breakfast was delish. Rooftop and porch were lovely and relaxing. Loved the view of the marina, water and sunset. Downtown Beaufort was one block away. Can’t say enough positive things!!!
- Angel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dual (10/5): Wonderful and we can’t wait to come back! - Wonderful historic captains house on the water in the center of a beautiful and historic town. Just lovely. Very well done. A few minor items undone in the room. Not. Price able at first but when you look we saw them. Not a complaint and not even sure the owners would be aware.
- Kathleen (10/5): Lovely - Every single thing Nothing
- Deborah (8/5): - Beautiful property, great breakfast and friendly staff. Location is excellent to walk the bay front and shopping areas in Beaufort. Parking was convenient. Enjoyed the honor bar and beautiful views from the top floor balcony.
- Carmen (1/5): Bad - This hotel was completely misrepresented in the marketing of it. It was decrepit. We had to leave as soon as we saw the property and our room. Our whole vacation had to be reorganized.
- Robert (10/5): - Spectacular hosts that we thoroughly enjoyed meeting. The hosts made the visit highly enjoyable.
- Michelle (8/5): Good but we were expecting something different with our room - Beautiful old home The room we stayed it was an add on and it wasn’t part of the main house. We were paying for the experience of staying in the home and it seemed like a lot of money for a renovated add on with no character.
- Craig (10/5): - good room with our puppy. Joanna and Sarah were top notch. Very good breakfast choice. Wonderful cruise with Captain Frank. Cheers, Jan & Craig
- Henry (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The restaurant at the Anchorage 1770 has excellent food with seating on the patio. We made the mistake of not specifying outdoor seating when we made the dinner reservation. The hotel is beautiful and walkable within the historic district.
- Nora (6/5): Pleasant -
- Edward A (10/5): Lovely well situated stay - Amazing hotel with very friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing and included. If I had one suggestion it would be to wipe down the furniture on the porches on 2nd floor they never were cleaned during the 3 nights we stayed there.
- Ken (10/5): - We had a great stay. Thank you !
- Barbara (2/5): - The owners were not here to check us in. Other guests told us they went out boating. No idea when they will be back. So we can not check in.
- Brian (2/5): Awful experience - they put us in a gross duplex in the backyard. - The main house was very nice. Location was very walkable. We thought we were staying in the main house that was historic and exactly what you’d expect. Instead they put us in a duplex in the backyard that was atrocious and not at all the experience we booked for. The staff’s response was “you should have called and booked directly.” Unfortunately this ruined our trip. Do NOT book through Booking.com for this stay.
- Jeannie (6/5): - The property is beautiful. It reflects a different time. That’s part of the problem. They do not have anybody on the property after 8 o’clock. They require quiet after 9 o’clock. They lock the doors. You have to use a keypad to get in and it’s dark in the back and you can’t see it. The beds are divine but we’re so tall we couldn’t get in them, and there was only one little stepstool. Air-conditioning and heating didn’t work. There were very few towels. They were great towels, but not a lot. They had no coffee maker in the room. One of the reasons we chose the place was that we wanted to eat there and have a restaurant on site. They serve breakfast but not lunch and it is prescribed time unlike a regular restaurant. But for the days we were there, they had no evening meal. And we were told that we probably would not have been able to get in because reservations were required.
One bright spot is that they have an elevator. We got a first floor room, but it didn’t say that the first floor is actually on the third floor. It is just the first floor that they have rooms on. But it is listed as a first floor room.
The staff that was there was friendly. But it was only one woman, and she was quite young. The waitress in the morning was the only one that really seem to care about giving us information.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathy (10/5): - Truly enjoyed a lovely stay at this beautiful property. We were only there one night but I felt like I had been on a long holiday weekend. The property is a very well maintained historical property in a great location.
- Pete (4/5): - If you decide to stay at this B&B, make sure you don’t stay on the first floor. The two rooms on the first floor are adjacent to the kitchen and very noisy. The owner of this place needs to decide if they are going to be a Band B or a restaurant. They open the restaurant in the evening and it really overtakes the entire property. Hope that helps.
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- Shawna (10/5): Exceptional - Terrific stately grand BB across from marina and a short walk to main part of town. Great rooms, really good restaurant with cocktails and delicious food and wonderful, friendly staff. Was pleasantly surprised that breakfast included choices (!) from among five different offerings - not typical of a BB... Would definitely stay here again.
- James (10/5): - Excellent staff and amenities
- Kat (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Gregory (10/5): - We’ve been visiting Beaufort, SC for a couple of years now and really love the city. Good food, nice people, historic and beautiful. This was our first visit to the Anchorage 1770, but it will not be our last! Very lovely place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfasts are terrific! We will be staying at the Anchorage again.
- Marie (8/5): Very nice place to stay but a little pricey . - Great location , main hotel was beautiful and ornate , the breakfast was exceptional. The rear outside patio was unusable do to rundown patio furniture but there were other areas outside that were well maintained . The property. doesn’t offer the opportunity to see which room you will staying in and the price point is very high to not have that option .
- Paul (8/5): We would choose it again if we come this way. - Great location (and would have been perfect without traffic) and good choices/quality at breakfast.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable pillows! - but that's a problem in almost all hotels.
And a bath would have been nice - but accept the limitations of adapting a historic building.
- Carol (10/5): - The property was beautifully decorated - not overdone but quite lovely. The breakfast was excellent! We enjoyed our stay with two additional couples. Bike the Spanish moss trail - the hotel has bikes or you can rent from a nearby business. We walked (or biked!) to everything.
- Judy (10/5): Lovely setting - Beautiful setting and the home/hotel was great.
- Michael (10/5): - In the center of everything! Walking distance to shopping, dining and beautiful scenery. Staff and Service is awesome. The property is magnificent!
- Dan (10/5): - The staff and the location, both excellent!
- Joseph (4/5): uncomfortable - location not clean. poorly decorated. bathroom is awful. smell . absence of maintenance. grossly overpriced
- Alissa (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (8/5): Good but less than expected - Fantastic location, great food, comfortable bed and room. Attention to detail was not what I would expect at a place with this price point. Facility needs some TLC.
- Mark (10/5): - We felt like welcomed guest in this amazing B&B. From reception to breakfast and checkout the hospitality and attention to detailed oozed. Thank you!!
- Andrew (10/5): Thank you Frank, Amy and your incredible staff. Can’t wait for our next visit! - The owners and staff welcomed us like family!
They are awesome and positively impacted our stay at their amazing property.
Breakfast was a culinary treat and the combination of the food, amazing service and eating out on the porch overlooking the water was the perfect way to start our days in Beaufort. My wife and I will take a hard pass on this question as there wasn’t anything we didn’t like about this wonderful property. Well perhaps if we could have stayed there a couple of more days! 😏
- Robert (4/5): - Very low water pressure in bathroom sink. No drawers in room so impossible to unpack. Got a few big bites too.
- Lesley (10/5): - Huge bed in room 302, very comfortable. Nice breakfast on front porch. Only one night but very convenient for wandering the Main Street & historic parts of Beaufort.
- Joanna (10/5): so friendly, superb food, home from home - location nothing
- Sanders (10/5): It was very lovely. - The History of the property. We loved everything about the property.
- Kacie (9/5): Beautiful Beaufort - the perfect inn experience. - The hotel is beautiful and the location can't be beat. My favorite mornings were spent on the porch having coffee + inn-provided breakfast, overlooking the water & marina. I stayed in room 202 (with the soaking tub) and it was lovely. The entire hotel is a period piece, and the art and decor make you feel like you're stepping back in time with all the modern amenities. I found the staff to be very helpful with coordinating any needs (eg. massage, dinner, recos); and during my solo stay, I felt very safe both in the hotel and in the town. The only small issue I had was under the bed cleanliness. I was setting up a yoga mat and peeked under the bed, and saw a napkin. This wasn't a major deal breaker for me, but for a high-end stay I would expect pristine cleanliness.
- Donald (6/5): We stayed away from the property a lot because the room we had just wasn't a place to relax. Good. - Breakfast was delicious, selection was a little slim. Food was hot, service was excellant. When I booked, my expectation was that I would be staying in the main house. My only reason for choosing this location was that expectation. No where in my booking did it say I had an off-site location. I was put in the lower cottage, which I later found out was for guest with pets. At one point I did mention this and the young lady told me Bookings.com always gives you the cheapest room. 275.00 plus gratuity is not a cheap room. Plus this was not the room advertised next to where I booked. This room was also located next to where they leave their trash bins, so throughout the day, we could hear this activity. The outdoor furniture in front of my cottage was not maintained and dirty, as was the adjacent patio. However, the furniture on the balconies was immaculate. I don't like to complain, but I felt like I was in the servants room. I did not feel like I got the five star experience I expected. I have had better at Hampton Inn's. We wound up leaving early because our last day just wasn't comfortable. Still..a beautiful home..I just wish I had gotten what I thought I paid for. It was our 27th Anniversary...I wanted to do more.
- Melanie (10/5): - Anchorage 1770 is a charming bed & breakfast ! This was our first visit and we will return . We were pleased that the renovations were completed while still preserving the decor , & architecture of the past. The staff were awesome and even organized a lovely bouquet of flowers and champagne upon our arrival to celebrate my Birthday. Our room was spacious & bright with beautiful furnishings. The linens were high quality & the bed was very comfortable. The best part of our stay was dining in the restaurant. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the small dining room and the quietness. Our meal was delicious ! We were so impressed with how the Chef incorporated fresh , local ingredients into the menu. We travel quite a bit and usually try new places . But, we will return to the Anchorage because of the dining venue.
- Shannon (9/5): Superb -
- Todd (10/5): - Nice view and walked to everything
- Thomas M (10/5): - It was a very beautiful bed and breakfast. Not enough parking
- Evelyn (10/5): Great, Historic Place to Stay - Anchorage 1770 was a delightful place to stay. Large room, and it was clean. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the nightly fresh baked cookie and lemon water.
Multiple outdoor areas to sit, but it was just too hot and humid when we were there to fully enjoy. There is an honor bar on the 4th floor which provides wine, alcohol and soft drinks.
Easy walk to all the sights in the historic district.
My only complaint was that the Wifi in our room was spotty so resorted to cellular.
Recommend Anchorage 1770 for your visit to Beaufort.
- Carolyn (4/5): - We had high hopes for this hotel but were disappointed. We asked for a king bed and were given a queen in a room with a noisy air conditioning system that kept me up the whole night. The room was only just OK, in a separate building from the main hotel, with extension cords sticking out of the air conditioner, a wobbly toilet, and not the best design. The outdoor space of the hotel was shabby at best. The hotel management did the right thing and immediately offered to refund us because of our issues with the incredibly loud air conditioner, so I give them credit for that. But overall I was disappointed.
- Dianne (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Anchorage Inn. The breakfast was very good, and the cookies in the evening were a nice surprise. Bed was comfy! Only negative was the room was a little warm. Wish there had been a fan. Also, I did get a Diet Coke from the honor bar refrigerator. When I got my bill I noticed it was $2.50. I thought that was a bit much for a can drink especially due to the price of staying at this property. Overall, though, a nice quiet stay.
- susan (10/5): - Beautiful inn; great location to downtown; glass of prosecco when checking in; iced lemon water & chocolate chip cookies mid afternoon; great breakfast on front porch.
- Paul (10/5): - This is a well maintained B&B/ Location is excellent with easy walk to shopping and historic districts. Views of the water are excellent. Porches on the 3rd and 4th levels offer excellent places to relax and enjoy the view and breeze.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice Location but seriously overpriced - I have stayed at several B&Bs in my travels and am glad this was not the first one. Nice house overlooking the water - ends there. Be aware The advertising photos were done by a quality photographer. No parking around building so you must park offsite and carry bags. Interior remodeled as an obvious DIY with paint smears all over woodwork. Tiling job finished poorly in bathroom. Auto air fresheners in room to cover musty smells. Quiet time of 9PM - 8AM is nice but you will be up all night with road noise. Left and stayed at a 5 star hotel in Savannah with bell service, valet, two restaurants, pool etc. I shake my head when I think that I paid over $400 for one night and could have stayed at the 5 star hotel for two nights and not paid as much as one night at Anchorage 1770.
- Peter (8/5): Lovely weekend stay with friends! - The Anchorage is a beautiful property, with the most inviting porches and lovely views of the water. Our room was pristine, and the turndown service with fruit-flavored water and cookies was a delight every evening. The Ribault Social Club Restaurant served our first meal on the porch Friday night. It was absolutely five-star. Breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious and prepared us for a wonderful day in Beaufort. Breakfast service and overall service throughout the weekend was delayed and spotty, as there seemed to be an ever-changing supply of young staffers doing their best. We never saw the owners. The patio at the lower level garden area looked tired and unkempt and not the least bit inviting. I would have been disappointed had I been staying in the Cottage rooms opening to that area. The Anchorage 1770 gets a solid four stars from our perspective.
- Edward (10/5): - It was an overall great experience and we would recommend it to anyone.
- CYNTHIA (10/5): - M
- Maurice (10/5): - Great time
- Jill (4/5): - Not the charming boutique hotel we were expecting. Most of the staff seemed annoyed and apathetic. The room was not finished in a charming vintage way you would expect in an expensive hotel. But rather cheaply renovated. There was inexpensive modern furniture and no drapes so the room was lit up at night. The amenities were an expensive honor bar and 1 Keurig machine in parlor.
- mary (10/5): - Staff very friendly. Room was architecturally gorgeous with high end linens, towels and robes to complete the ambiance. At breakfast we could choose off a menu and were able to sit at individual tables which has not been my previous experience at B & Bs - and the food was excellant! Rooftop deck and a shaded deck, both with a view and access to their "honor bar" gave you options for just kicking back. Great convenient waterfront location. Will be back for sure!
- Joseph (10/5): - Terrific diner chef!
- JoAnn (8/5): - The Anchorage is lovely and we would definitely stay there again. The highlight was a delicious breakfast (included) on the front porch! The Inn is beautifully kept and the staff was accommodating. Our biggest complaint was that lighting was terrible in our room.
- Sally (10/5): - Had a great view of the water, great breakfast and really pretty setting.
- Daniel (10/5): - The history and the friendliness
- Stacey R (10/5): - The food, staff and rooms were excellent, comfortable and kind. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be staying there when we come back.
- Adam (10/5): - BEAUTIFUL!
- Courtney (10/5): - One of the most amazing places to stay! We enjoyed this beautiful building so much. We can’t wait to visit again.
- Patrick (10/5): - It's a wonderful way to experience a historic property along a beautiful coast.
- Kim (10/5): - We always enjoy our stays here, never stay anywhere else.
- lynnette (10/5): The Perfect Getaway for Couples and Groups - This is a late post, but our stay at Anchorage 1770 was absolutely amazing. The location was perfect and the owners and staff made us feel right at home. Perfect setting for a group vacation.
- Christopher (10/5): Amazing Bed and Breakfast - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Beaufort. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in some time and it was complimentary.
- jeri (10/5): - The staff brought in,y luggage found my Aranda tagged it, brought my phone from the car, assisted me to my room and arranged to change my dinner reservation. All because I was exhausted by the 5 hours spent at Budget waiting for a car. They are friendly responsive and very professional and the property is all that I dreamt it would be. Lowcountry gorgeous with southern good manners on display. I am thrilled to be here.
- Beth (8/5): Pricey - Anchorage is a great place but I thought it was very over-priced, especially in comparison to other local accommodations. It really needs some updating. The grounds should be pristine and more well-manicured.
The restaurant was superb. Stellar experience there.
- denis (10/5): - Another wonderful, relaxing stay. A beautiful inn and delicious food in charming Beaufort.
- Walter (10/5): - All aspects are to our satisfaction.
- Sandra (10/5): - The property is beautiful and unique. Those seeking architectural perfection should remember the age of the building. The staff was wonderful, especially Kimberly. The room was just as described and very comfortable. Our overnight stay ended with a delicious breakfast on the front porch overlooking the bay . A cool breeze was blowing. We will return to Beaufort again and we will definitely stay at the Anchorage.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Upon arrival everything seemed lovely. We had booked a room for 2 nights. I am in Beaufort for work and figured we would make a weekend out of it! Little did I know our room would be in the basement. Since we are in the basement we can hear EVERYTHING from the main floor. Chairs moving, couches moving, people walking, etc. Across from our room is the kitchen. We heard plates clinking and silverware shaking until about 10 o’clock. Then we had a room beside us with 2 dogs that barked from 11:30-2:30 am. Our windows were level with the lawn so we saw car lights all night long through our blinds. Then at 7 am everything started over. Plates clinking, silverware shaking, chairs moving, dogs parking, etc. We had PLANNED 2 nights, but once I am finished with work we can’t get home quick enough. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.
AND to top it off, there were clumps of hair in our bathroom. Gross!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): Spoiling ourselves - Just a perfect relaxing 25th anniversary get-away. Just the two of us, spoiling ourselves.
- matt (10/5): - Amazing property, extremely friendly service. I would reccomend to anyone. Well worth it. And a great location.
- Roger (10/5): Weekend getaway - Beautiful location and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean rooms... Attentive friendly staff. Food was delicious. The free breakfast was amazing. thanks to the chef for a wonderful dining experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful historic home in an idealic southern town.
Yummy breakfast and lovely staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Historical!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful room with a great view.
