Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cabins are amazing. The staff went above and beyond. It’s the most relaxing place I can imagine myself going.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great property, cozy cabin with free wifi. No television so more family time spent together. Wish we were there for more than one night so we could enjoy the fire pit or restaurant. Unfortunately breakfast was not provided the day we were there due to unforeseen circumstances but that allowed us to experience one of the local restaurants called The Lakes. The only problem with our booking is Expedia called it Green Chalets at Scotch Pines but it’s really called Normaway Inn. Just a heads up for those heading that way so they can keep an eye out for the signs !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved sitting out around the fire in the evening. Very friendly staff and fantastic food!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved this cabin. It had everything we needed and it was a pleasure to stay there.
- Kelly (10/5): - Stayed in the green cottage 26 we lived it here! Quiet, quaint, comfy. Free wood for the fire, entertainment up at the main lodge. The performer was very good- was a nice touch. Cabin was roomy and met all our needs. We would choose this place again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice quiet location. Staff were all conscientious and friendly. Food was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rustic area. Really called Normaway (the sign at the street). The picture is not the cabin we received-but we got the better one. Wonderful, tasty restaurant on-site that is open from about June-Sept. Great surprise. Staff very helpful. Cabot Trail accessible from here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very picturesque old lodge in the woods. We liked our room, like stepping back in time. High rating!
(The only problem seems to be at the Expedia end. We had confirmed a cabin reservation on the app, but it came thru to the hotel as simply a room request. No matter, since the room was nice and actually cheaper. But Expedia’s miscommunication with its partners was annoying and might not have turned out so well.)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is quite remote which totally met our need and expectation.
The local trails are many and inexhaustible.
We had the entire site to ourselves as we were very early. That may not be for everyone.
The owners were extremely helpful with advice about where to go and what to do.
May be too quiet a location for some. Perfect for us.
- Ken (10/5): - Property was great. Owner was very cordial and helpful
- Wayne (10/5): - We had a fabulous stay at the Green Chalet. The staff were very friendly, the 'cabin' was neat clean and tidy. Thank God there was not television as that would have damaged the atmosphere of 'our cabin in the woods'. The drive down the tree lined driveway reminded me of Europe except the castle was missing at the end of the driveway. What a wonderful vacation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Besides the toilet getting clogged and having to use a not so great plunger it was over all great!
- Irene (4/5): Yes and No - The Chalet was disappointing. The toilet did not work and the heat didn't work. There was a wood stove but we didn't light it. Dinner was disappointing and overpriced.
They did have first class entertainment in the evening though which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The walkway back to our chalet was not well lit at all...a few solar lights that didn't shine by any means.
There are great scenic views there.
- STEPHEN (8/5): Rustic ## - Rustic # cottage, Nice spot wood stove cozy jet tube bonus
- Verified traveler (4/5): Chalets - The chalets are over priced and not that good. Keep in mind there is no phone or tv in the room. Two of the three lamps didn't work. Heating was baseboard with programmed setting which have been adjusted by previous guests and you don't know what heat you are getting. Meals very good but very expnsive.
- JD (10/5): Normaway and the Lighthouse - No words can describe how wonderful it is at the Normaway Inn. The hospitality is unmatched. 5 star, chef prepared meals. Fire pits in the cabin courtyards for sipping brandy, making new friends from all over the world, and watching the Lighthouse wink to the Atlantic. I miss her already. Many thanks to Cara, Carey, Randy, Rowan, and the Chef from Fort Worth Texas!!!!!
- Micheal (10/5): A Hidden Gem - You enter this stunning Pine Tree lined driveway, horses in the pasture and approach a stunning historic Inn. Greeted and welcomed by Nina our front desk personal informed us of everything there was to offer. We then went to our cabin ,lit our little wood stove and had a glass of wine on the swing and fed the horses some apples, The accomodations were stunning and the Best part NO TV! Pure quietness, We had dinner in the dining room. a 5 star meal was served by Randy. We then went upstairs to the living room and were entertained by a local singer. We met a lovely couple from Vermont as well We had a bonfire in our firepit and chatted with a guest from Texas I wished we had booked 3 days there. The owner introduced himself upon checkout and gave us information of things we had inquired about and thanked us for staying. The Inn is located in a great spot. Could be a central base to tour the island from and go around the trail in either direction. Thank you so much for the amazing experience. We would HIGHLY refer this great establishment to anyone, Thank you again to the staff and owner. You are a true definition of Cape Breton Hospitality, Micheal and Shawn
- Verified traveler (6/5): Surprised - Not very clean, expensive meal.
- Jenn (8/5): Best part: we meet a cat - We arrived two hours ahead of check in time, and they let us check in at no extra fee.
The room was very clean, we could still smell the pine-sol. But the coffee maker was a little scummy.
The jacuzzi's fuse had popped, it was fixed within an hour, but was a total buzz kill. There was a friendly white cat there named Belle that came to visit my husband a few times.
We would go back again.
- Dean (10/5): Favourite stop on the Cabot Trail - Returning to the Normaway Inn ten year after my first visit I found nothing had changed. That's a good thing. Charming accommodation deep in the valley with great good and warm hospitality. Hope to return in ten years and find everything exactly the same again.
