Guest Reviews
- Trinquart (9/5): Parfait - Parfait
- Seamus (9/5): -
- Daryl (10/5): - Really nice staff, let me take my bike in my room.
Great restaurant on site
- Carolyn (9/5): Food and accommodation very good. Good base but not much in Dalbeatttie in terms of restaurants - Food was excellent as were the staff. Room was comfortable Heating was on which made room rather warm
- Andy (8/5): Great value, brilliant staff, and great restaurant. However, the music in the bar carried on late - The staff were fantastic and the room facilities were really good as well as the menu at the restaurant. I appreciated the breakfast was included. I think it offers exceptionally good value. I had asked for a quiet room and unfortunately, I could hear the music from the bar below until nearly midnight. This did impact my sleep even with earplugs.
- Richard (9/5): - Room was a great size clean and comfortable. We will use this hotel again in future
- Denise (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): excellent food, great location, friendly staff - food excellent This particular room too small, but was ok just for 1 night. Peaceful, lovely sound of flowing river which was beautiful to fall asleep to
- James (10/5): Great location on the coastal route - Local community atmosphere
- Terry (9/5): Comfy, and home from home, excellent food. - The breakfast was amazing, really good choice of cooked food, prepared by a chef who you could see cooking the food choice. Self service for juice, toast, various jams etc, cereal, and beverages. so we could go back for more !!!
Room was comfy, very modern looking, spacious and the twin beds were clean and I had the best sleep in ages, THANK YOU. I feel the corners of areas could have been cleaned a bit better, nothing to worry about, just saying. I feel the cleanliness, even though the room had been redecorated, the corners on some of the older parts just needed to be either painted or deep cleaned. I must admit my own house is much worse than this.
- Thomas (9/5): Excellent - Quality hotel, great price. Nothing.
- Quinton (10/5): Very comfortable - Very nice staff
- Jane (8/5): Enjoyable stay at a friendly hotel. - Breakfast had a wide range of choices. The freshly made omelettes were particularly good. Room had a good amount of hanging space and a generous size bath. While there is no parking at the hotel we were always able to park easily at the free car park opposite. Galloway steak pie was excellent - good quality fresh meat and very tasty. Staff were all very professional and friendly. The sharing platter haggis was spam like in texture and taste, so not good. All other meals were very tasty. Porridge was not available despite being on the menu.
- thomas (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Staff were amazing and friendly very accommodating -
- Lyndsey (8/5): -
- Peter (9/5): brilliant - breakfast well presented good portions not the best quality sausages quality of sausages
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (1/5): Don’t stay, hotel is anove a rowdy bar - Breakfast was great. Shower was great Hotel is above a popular bar and loud music, pounding under the floor and young drunk adults loud. Not a good experience
- Angela (10/5): - Breakfast Nothing
- Winifred (8/5): I went to Dalbeattie to visit an old haunt and the hotel provided me with all I needed. - The staff were friendly and efficient. There was a good choice of menu and everything was well cooked. The room and the bed were very comfortable and I enjoyed the view from the dining room - including the swallows flying above the burn. The lighting in the bedroom did not allow for switching off the light from the bed nearest the window. There appeared to be no power outlets on the wall behind the beds. It may have been a staffing problem, but my room had not been serviced when I returned after 1600. However I had no problem in getting a supply of milk.
- Angela (10/5): - Breakfast Nothing
- Angela (10/5): - Breakfast Nothing
- melissa (10/5): - We were upgraded to a suite for free, breakfast was brilliant
- Sharon (9/5): Always great to stay here. Meets our needs really well for purpose of trip. Reasonably priced and always a lovely trip - As always really helpful staff. - Kelly (10/5): Stay was exceptional, staff made us feel very welcome especially Kai and Lewis, chef was fantastic and food was phenomen - Everything we loved, not 1 thing that we could fault. Nothing we didn’t like, nothing to fault

- George (8/5): - I liked the location and the food in the bar was very good. Had a big bath in the room. The staff were good The layout of the room wasnt very functional. The tap had a bit missing. The shower head was fixed and couldn't be adjusted.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Megan (10/5): -
- Suzie (10/5): A perfect place to stay to explore the local & surrounding area of Dumfries & Galloway . - The breakfast was excellent with great service and good volume of food.
The staff were all excellent and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed including ensuring we had a table each night for our evening meal. Nothing to report .
Everything met our needs to a great standard.
- Robin (10/5): Very relaxing - Breakfast first class
- Andrew (9/5): Good - Room was excellent. Evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Don't go if you're on a diet - portions were huge/ Hotel is dog friendly, but not happy to see a large dog up on one of the sofas, with it's feet on the table. As my wife said, what would have happened if she sat on the sofa in a white outfit after the dog.
- Simon (10/5): - Staff were lovely Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Chilled out break in a lovely hotel - Lovely staff with a warm welcome.
Upgraded us to a suite. Nothing

- Louiseyoung1 (10/5): 10 out of 10 recommended - The room was spotless, the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was delicious Through no fault of the hotel we were unable to use it to its full potential, purely because we arrived much later than expected and had to leave early
- LAURA (8/5): -
- Smith (10/5): - Staff
Food
Large bedroom Nothing
- Nicola (7/5): Pleasant enough would stay again. - Dog friendly 😊 breakfast wasn't bad, plenty of it, but there were a couple of hick ups but it was Christmas morning so probably not the usual staff. Staff were friendly. I should have asked for a bath so just got a room with shower. My bad. Breakfast sausage wasn't link sausage as described, mushrooms must have been cooked in fat not butter so weren't very nice.
- Edward (8/5): -
- Skoyles (9/5): Was down for work which was close to the hotel. - Room was large and comfortable - good food for evening meal and breakfast. Good TV in room. Shop next door for the fact that i forgot my toothpaste. Nothing - all good
- Rosemary (8/5): It served our purpose, however breakfast was included in the price so aprice and we unfortunately oʻ - The staff were very professional and friendly. The atmosphere in the bar area was very pleasant. The stairs to the bedrooms were very narrow and the carpet was quite soiled.
There was no car park.
The bedroom was actually too warm but opening a window made it very noisey because of people on the street.
Breakfast was included but we didn't stay because the bedroom was just too too warm and uncomfortable. I know its seems bad to complain about a warm room and I apologise for that, as it is a credit to you to keep the hotel warm in such challenging times.
- Derek (8/5): The food average. Had peppered chicken. Very dry, mash potatoes very lumpy. -
- Richard (10/5): - Great food Was not able to change the room temperature
- Patsy (7/5): Great value for money. Not many frills but the lovely breakfast room and great breakfast were a bonu - The breakfast was excellent and great value for money. The staff we friendly and efficient. The breakfast room has a lovely view over the river and surrounding countryside. The decor is a bit tired but I wasn't expecting more as money will be tight in that part of the world for splashing the cash on soft furnishings. The bed was a bit firm for my liking.

- Alan (10/5): - The staff were amazing. We checked in as a large group of 20 and they couldn’t do enough for us. Check in was smooth, rooms clean and comfy. Breakfast and dinner were 10/10. Great stay over the New Year!
- Philip (8/5): It was ok but the heating was NOT GOOD disappointed ☹️ - Breakfast was very good and the one meal at dinner time was good We were there for New Year the bedroom heating was practically NONE existent we booked 4 nights but went home after 2 nights because of the heating to cold we won’t be returning
- diane (10/5): Was a great 2 night stay with friends hotel staff and food excellent will definitely return - One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in I can’t fault it on anything Nothing
- Jon (10/5): -
- Yvonne (10/5): Brilliant - Staff couldn’t do enough for us
Food was delicious 😋 rooms were spotless
- Andy (10/5): - Great breakfast Nothing
- Ross (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Great value for money, Fabulous staff! - We have just returned home after a 4 night stay. All the staff we had any dealings with were pleasant in manner and couldn’t do enough for us. We were staying with our 2 dogs who were made welcome and we were always offered a bowl of water for them whilst in the bar. We were always attended to quickly and ate in the hotel bar each evening. The bar could be quite lively but it was the Christmas period and everybody was really friendly. Wd stayed up on the second floor so we were away from any noise if we went to bed early.
We never had to wait long for the food to arrive and what we had was served hot & was enjoyable. Room was clean & comfortable and great value for money in my opinion.
We had a lovely coastal walk from Kippford through Rockcliffe & along to Sandyhills one day and had walks in Dalbeattie Town Wood.
All in all a great stay. Set on main road & no parking but free parking a short distance away, wd pulled up outside to load & unload.
- Mc Donald (10/5): good breakfast room and hotel staff were excellent as always - good breakfast room and hotel staff were excellent as always nothing all ok
- Angela (10/5): - Breakfast was very tasty! Nothing
- Angela (10/5): -
- Jane (5/5): There were a number of good things to experience but the smoke issue was a big negative. - The bedroom was spacious and well kept, and comfortable. The shower was good. Breakfast was fairly well done and dinner was enjoyable, with plenty of choice. The public areas, including the upstairs landings outside the bedrooms, all stank of cigarette smoke. Presumably smokers have been allowed to stand in the downstairs entrance area.
- Lyn (9/5): Great value hotel - We had dinner & breakfast at the hotel -both were lovely quality & large portions.
- Craig (10/5): - Our Men stayed here whilst working in the area, was perfect for them, clean, comfortable and lovely food, would definitely recommend if visiting the area.
- gary (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Excellent stay in a lovely hotel in centre of town - Ideal location in centre of Dalbeattie
Lovely room Could have had more information / staff at breakfast time - nobody there when we arrived or for a good 10 mins after
- Jeremy (6/5): It was good value for money. - I liked the Junior Suite, great bath and good shower and plenty of hot water. The cooked breakfast was excellent and the coffee machine was great. The hotel room was very cold. Radiators were set to 16 degrees! Even after turning up the thermostat the water only ever got Luke warm. The carpets in the corridors and stairways were very dirty.
- Virginia (9/5): - Lovely room, very comfortable bed and nice to have a big bath to relax in. Room was very clean and wifi had really improved since our last stay. Excellent value for money and really tasty breakfast. The staff member on duty was also very friendly and helpful. N/A
- Paula (8/5): Another wee gem not too farm from Dumfries … very tasty steak pie . Fish and chips with garden peas . - Lovely
Location overlooking the river . Reasonably priced both for the room , bar and food . No car park but understand
