Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (8/5): Hostel environment - Well positioned location - there's a walkway to the main road (comes out at tonzaken ramen) which saves you walking down the road and back up again if wanting to get to the hirafu gondola and welcome centre. Appreciated getting picked up when arriving on last bus. Bed was a thin mattress and can feel it's springs. Rooms are small - stayed as single person in triple room and it was just enough space for storage and hanging. Would be cramped with 2-3 people.
Can definitely hear everything going on outside room.
Only 3 showers, which weren't busy when I wanted to shower but not sure if maybe they weren't at peak capacity either.

- Joel (9/5): - The staff was great and the location was really good
- Jonatan (10/5): -
- Denzel (8/5): - Incredible location, can walk 2 mins to get to the ace family quad and can walk back up from slopes to get to the accom. Across the road is a pharmacy and convenience store as well as an extremely popular ramen restaurant. Great staff and shared lounge room includes ample space, a tv, ping pong table and all the board games you could ask for (monopoly, cards, catan etc.). Very large shared showers and toilets. Dry room for skis are included in the accom. Window wouldn’t open on first floor due to snow covering it, room was extremely warm upon check in with no way to quickly cool it down (only a heater).
- Ian (8/5): Friendly hostel, good location - Friendly hostel style. As long as you're aware it's a hostel and your expectations are calibrated, it's good. Easy location to the slopes and the town. Thin walls. They do ask residents are quiet after 11pm, but it still depends on the other guests to respect that eg drunks rolling in at 3am and carrying on their conversations in the kitchen. Luck of the draw.
- McCaskie (10/5): Holiday Stay - Everyone working here is super friendly and the location is perfect! -
- Dolgov (7/5): - Location. 5 minutes walk from both Gondola and city center, 2 minutes from the nearest ski lift/lift tickets office It's not really a hotel, it's a student dorm gaining some extra money from lending rooms to skiers. If you are young, adventurous and sociable, this place is for you. For more mature people it may be too basic.
In our opinion, a little overpriced
- Aristotle (2/5): - Mould in the room. Known Issue. Nothing done about it. Beds unbearable - had to sleep on the ground.
- Reinout (7/5): Good value for money - Good location, very friendly staff Lot of noise in the evening and at night.
- Jensen (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Location
- Zachary (10/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): - Location was great, staff were great Bed/pillow could’ve been better, was definitely sleeping on springs but can’t complain for price and location
- Andrew (2/5): - It was far too basic, I should not have booked a room with shared bathroom, probably my error.
- Michelle (9/5): Comfortable lodge excellent location - This is a comfy basic ski lodge with large rooms and an fully operational kitchen. The location is excellent and we walked to ski school every day. Staff are exceptional helpful and friendly. Great place to stay for a reasonable price right in the heart of HIRAFU highly recommend There isn’t any parking on site which was a little annoying but the free public car park is not far away
- Trevor Morris (8/5): - Great people. Good shared facilities. A bit disorganised. Shoes and boots all over the place inside the front door. The kitchen is chaotic.
- Noah (10/5): - I rarely write reviews but this spot is a 10/10. Amazing people. Whoever hired the lodge staff, good job. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Absolutely would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 温かみのある宿で、とても良かったです。
施設は古いですが、朝食ついて、この値段は、料金的に凄いと思います❣
- Verified traveler (6/5): - 入住時沒有招待...不知道房間在哪...廁所在哪...浴室在哪...衛生環境一般...門口一地都是住客的鞋...凌亂不堪
- Verified traveler (2/5): - どこかをネットで予約した記憶はあったのだけど、どこだったか忘れてキャンセル手続きができませんでした。
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location location location! - Excellent location, less than 200m to the ski lift (small slope to walk down) and ski schools. Prime location for restaurants, ski rental, coffee, bars. Opposite the hotel is a convenience store. Onsen (in a hotel 1000yen each excluding towel rental) is about 3 mins walk on the main road. Bus arriving at the welcome centre is about 10 min walk downhill.
Shared bathroom and shower rooms were kept clean.
Breakfast is very basic and served between 0730-0830 only.
Toast/cereal/juices/tea every day plus one hot dish. (French toast/hash brown/ rice and miso soup etc)
Drying room is crowded and full most the time but does the job.
Stayed in the traditional Japanese style room with futon beds, so don’t expect them to be too comfortable if you are not used to them. Slight smell in the room, bit run down.
Self check-in after a certain time, staff is very friendly.
If you are looking at a relatively cheaper option in Hirafu with an excellent location, this is the place to be. However, you can expect it to be basic but does the job.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - 朝食の提供がなかった
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location and the free breakfast were great but the floor boards are very loud and the rooms are very small. It is also hard to identify staff as there is no permanent front desk. The mattresses in our room were very average and there was only one private shower for all of the guests.
- Charles (8/5): Good little place - Good stay. Could do with more space in the common area... could get rid of the table tennis and put another table in there. Few too many people for the facilities there. Staff were all really nice and incredibly helpful. Was a good price and would stay again. Hirafu isn’t cheap though! Be prepared for seicomart dinners.....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location is great - staff are friendly and as far an pensions you are getting a good one. Mattress probably need a freshen up, one rock hard and the other you can feel the springs. Bathrooms are shared- but not an issue and still was perfect for our stay. breakfast was good and in general a good place to stay if you're not looking to spend ridiculous amounts on accommodation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is perfect. Manager and hosts are extremly helpful. Met lots of likemided travellers. WE HAD A GREAT STAY.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a bit difficult to locate this hostel as it was surrounded by other properties and hills of snow. The staff were super friendly and responds to your emails promptly. There is free breakfast every morning, and they change it up everyday too. Nothing too fancy (e.g. pancakes, cereal, rice with seasoning) but hey, it's free so can't complain. There's a heated room right next to the entrance for drying your equipment which is very handy. The rooms aren't the cleanest but that's more due to the people staying in the same dorm as you, otherwise the common areas are generally very clean. There is a free shuttle service upon arriving and leaving as well, to nearby areas. Overall it was a pleasant couple of nights for me, wouldn't mind coming here again. Thank you to the lovely staff there!
- Kelly (8/5): Perfect location and friendly hosts! - The location of Absolute Niseko is perfect - just a couple of minutes walk from the ski fields. Restaurants and shops are all close by. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. My room (twin room) was comfortable and warm. My only negative comment is that there is only one lockable shower, so you might need to shower in the communal mens or women’s shower area (which could have done with a slightly more thorough clean). But otherwise a very enjoyable stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Absolute Niseko provides very simple accommodation. If you go for the rooms with futons don't expect to sleep comfortably. The staff provided us with extra mattresses for three of us just so we could get some sleep. Staff was helpful. Simple and ok breakfast and great location with ski in ski out for the hirafu area. I guess you get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - Overall good, but need to share public bath and toliet, not so convenient.
- CHIACHUN (10/5): 很不錯 - 自在的空間,便利的位置~
- Suzy (10/5): Very happy with this accommodation - Henry was very friendly and made sure we were well looked after, our holiday at Niseko was amazing
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location next to the Ace Family Lift - Great staff!! My 6 bed room was clean and facilities were OK. There was a problem with the sewage vent causing a bad odor on the basement floor that sometimes permiated up. I imagine that this could be fixed though.
- Edward (10/5): No-frills accommodation in an ideal location - Super friendly English-speaking staff made checking in a breeze and made me feel really welcome. Bunk in a 6-bed room was pretty cramped but still enough room if you're organized, and no need to spend time in the room - spacious communal lounge area with comfy sofas and big TV. Wifi was fast in the lounge area but a bit flaky in the outlying room I was in. Showers were clean, hot and powerful - essential at the end of a hard day skiing. Breakfast was different each day and always tasty. Kitchen looked decent but didn't end up using it as loads of great restaurants nearby - Tozanken ramen joint opposite was particularly good value. Ski room again pretty crowded but always managed to find space for my skis and boots at the end of the day. Location also great for skiing, almost ski in ski out - 1 minute walk to a trail down to the Family Quad lift.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Many thanks to the crew who looked after everything whilst I was doing an instructor course. Highly recommend this sweet place!
- Jen (10/5): Great affordable place to stay - We had a great stay at Absolute Niseko. Close to the slopes and central to the town and all needs. Easy to access. Staff were lovely and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious. We stayed in tatami rooms. Only suggestion would be a pillow upgrade. There is an Onsen converted into a shower which is nice and refreshing. Great common area. We would stay again. Good cooking facilities as well.
