Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): Cottage Lea’s Hotel. - So we booked up on Hotels.com on a good deal. We had never used this website before we were pleased how easy it was to book this hotel. Cottage Lea’s is place alone from any other buildings. At reception we was met and all was explained about the hotel facilities, our room was clean and well kept and comfortables. So with further to do we will be returning for another visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent evening meal and breakfast ,)comfy bed in peaceful location, the sheep moved field for the night(earlier in the evening there had been a lamb who had lost its mum and was bleating a lot!)Very friendly staff Hotel in a beautiful secluded spot
- Ruth (8/5): Very comfortable - Very peaceful. No road noise at all. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Just a 1 night stay after a concert at SOAT. Good location
- Nigel (10/5): Lovely family run hotel - Great one night stay. Food and sevice very good. Excellent family run small hotel. Very rural location.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Beautiful setting, friendly owner, good food
- Kevin (10/5): 2 night stay - Fantastic hotel a couple of miles out of Pickering. Very friendly host and staff, I couldn't fault it, other than there was no draught ale due to supply problems. The food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent.
- Caroline (10/5): - I was traveling to the area alone and had chosen to stay here. I was greeted by a very friendly lady who I later discovered was the owner. The room was very clean a pretty with everything you needed. That evening I had a drink in the bar and the owners were so friendly and welcoming offering any assistance I may need. The breakfast was delicious and while I didn’t eat a meal there the menu looked great and very varied. I would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.
- Keith (10/5): Perfect for a relaxing stay with amazing food - We had an absolutely fabulous one night stay at the Cottage Lea's Country Hotel.
The location is perfect - secluded and quiet, with beautiful scenery and delightful, well maintained gardens which had plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, as well as relaxing seating in the lounge area.
Our room was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable - the bed made it difficult to get out of!
Becky and Lottie were absolutely perfect hosts - friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble.
We booked dinner, and so glad we did - it was honestly one of the best meals we have ever eaten - from the black pudding stack and garlic creamy mushrooms (OMG!!!) to the crunchiest, butteriest crumble I've ever had in my life, made with apples from their own tree.....
I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone, and would highly recommend dining there too.
Thank you so much!
- Helen (10/5): - Really friendly, helpful staff. Very clean, delicious food & amazing surroundings.
- Margaret (10/5): - I'm so glad I discovered this hotel. It's cozy, secluded, clean and comfortable. The owners are lovely. Ended up staying an extra night. Definitely would stay again.
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely quiet little retreat - will definately return
- Babs (6/5): - Set in the countryside but only a short distance from Pickering.
Room was comfortable. Breakfast was nice. Owners friendly.
- Yvonne (8/5): - We had a clean cosy room with a comfortable bed and pillows with Coffee, Tea and biscuits on a Tray in the room. The hotel is on farmland, the room was very quiet at night with an owl hooting early morning. The breakfasts were very good with cereals, juices, yoghurts and pastries to choose from, followed by a good cooked English breakfast. Becky was very helpful and made all guests feel welcome. Friendly family pets are often in the Bar.
- T (10/5): Can highly recommend Cottage Lea's Country Hotel - We really enjoyed our weekend. We received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for this family run hotel.
We ate in their restaurant on both evenings the food was excellent and good value for money. Fantastic choice of breakfast options and wonderful service.
The room was clean cosy and comfortable and we had the best nights sleep.
Lovely surroundings and view from our room.
It was my husbands birthdays and they made it really special with a birthday balloon, banner and card.
Can highly recommend Cottage Leas Hotel.
- Mel (10/5): What a gem - Such good value, with a super breakfast included. A great rural gem.
- Christine (10/5): - We stayed one night at Leas Cottage which was a pleasant surprise not know what to expect. The staff warm and welcoming and the ambience in the bar/lounge area cosy and Luke home from home. Good home cooked food and breakfast. We had smaller size bedroom it was clean warm with all facilities. We would stay again.
- Stephen (8/5): - OK
- Janet (10/5): Country stay - Lovely country hotel run by a welcoming and friendly family
- Fiona (8/5): - Alovely country feel staff friendly bar area small and mainly taken up by owners and family
- Philip (8/5): Nice comfortable stay - Lovely secluded hotel, stayed twice now.very friendy staff.
- Tony (8/5): Idyllic - I booked two twin rooms for two nights as we were golfing in the area. While I was initially concerned that the rest of the group would be annoyed with me that we weren't in the town centre, as soon as we checked in after our first round we knew we had made a great choice.
The site is incredible and the view is fab - the outdoor spaces were very nice and we felt lucky we had hit on with the weather.
Rooms are quite standard but just what we needed, shower and toilet very modern and clean.
The bar has a great range of beers and the 'Yorkshire Cider' is well worth a few pints if you like a summer drink.
The restaurant is clean and welcoming, the menu choice is fantastic and very very good value [I'd recommend the salmon] and breakfast was tasty and clearly all local produce.
The team at the hotel clearly put lots of effort in to make sure your stay is good.
We'll be back with a bigger golf group of 8 next year as it ticked every box
- Colin (10/5): - Location peaceful lovely countryside around property.food excellent, owners excellent, difficult say much else as all aspects excellent
- Adrian (10/5): - Lovely hotel situated about 1 mile from main road. Excellent choices for breakfast and if you take the option good priced and choice for evening meal. Had a great 5 night stay and would return again if Staying in this area.
- David (10/5): First but no the last stay - If you value the countryside, along with peace and quiet, then the mile long journey up a single track country lane to this haven is for you.
A family run hotel with staff who are helpful, polite and enthusiastic with idyllic surroundings.
This is a place to return to.
Thank so much to the staff for such an enjoyable stay
- Deborah (10/5): - Lovely place so quiet scenic views staff and customers really friendly food lovely, highly recommend
- David (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff! Nice countryside location and view over the fields. Only about two miles from centre of Pickering. Parking was good.
- John (10/5): Wish we could stay longer - This is only a three star hotel, because of the way star ratings are given. It does not have a night porter or room service etc. etc. But if stars were awarded on one's actual experience and needs, this would certainly be a five star establishment. The setting is at the end of a long single track road and so is very peaceful. The rooms are in a modern block, comfortable and well equipped. Reception from the owner was first class, friendly and helpful. When it came to drinks in the garden in the late afternoon, pre prandial aperitifs and an excellent dinner nothing was too much trouble. It is very much a family hotel, the hotel cat greeted us nicely and the ancient jack russell kept a careful watch from the lounge. The two sisters who run it are so friendly and chatty we felt immediately at home. It was disappointing only to be staying for one night.
- Angela (10/5): - Liked that it was a family run place,
Staff were extremely helpful.
- Peter (10/5): What a gem of a find - I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel.
I regularly book hotels for our group of retired gentlemen
and the 9 of us who stayed for 6 days were delighted with this choice. We were allowed to leave our bikes in a secure locked barn overnight and the owners were a wealth of knowledge about the locality.
The rooms were bright and cheerful, comfortable and lacked for nothing. The breakfasts were superb and we could even request things not on the menu. We regularly eat out on our trips but the evening meals here were so good and reasonable in cost that we stayed in for 4 of the 6 evenings. The comprehensive bar was excellent.
- Richard (10/5): - Brilliant time😀
- Stephen (8/5): I will use again - Nice hotel, quiet in the countryside. Good food and breakfast.
- Andrew (10/5): Peaceful Country retreat - Country location with views over surrounding countryside. Relaxed break in a lovely Country House. Family run business who care immensely for there guests.
- Robert (10/5): Very pleasant stay. - One night stay with friends. Very comfortable room. Friendly servicexx CD and good food
- Mark (6/5): - Most certainly not a hotel as advertised!
This property is an average family run B&B in its current state. Dinner was good, breakfast ok. Rooms were tiny and noisy from neighbouring rooms.
- ian (8/5): Nice stay in the Countryside - Nice stay , however not my type of hotel. Room with a Velux window and sloped ceilings . Nice enough decorated and clean but walls are thin !!!!. Good sleep so can't complain . Food was nice at both evening meal and breakfast and staff were very friendly. Off the main drag and up a single track road .
- Wendy (10/5): Great Stay - Our second visit to this hotel but it was our friends first visit, we all loved it, lovely staff, good rooms great food, its a very unique place
- Stephen (8/5): Peaceful stay - Nice country hotel, with friendly and accommodating staff. Lovely views, good food. Willl stay agaim
- Tim (10/5): - I enjoyed a very comfortable and pleasurable evening at the Cottage Lea's Country Hotel & Restaurant. The room was nice, the food was great and the Staff / Owners made for excellent company. Great Stuff!
- Mrs W E (10/5): Lovely Relaxing Weekend - Just back from a lovely relaxing weekend at Cottage Leas Hotel. The hotel was excellent, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, lovely home cooked food and very clean & Covid safe
- Mags (10/5): - It has a really friendly family feel we had a fantastic stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic views await. - Very good hotel in a beautiful peaceful elevated setting with stunning views across the vale. The family that run this hotel are very friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent too. The remote setting means that a car is essential to reach local attractions but walkers will not be put off by this.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great views, amazing service. Room was spacious and the shower had good water pressure
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pleasantly situated with amiable dogs and cats and excellent horses. Very pleasant stff and good food and beer.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Quiet location with lovely views but up a one mile track with few passing places - had difficulty negotiating track at times. Bedroom very small and I think it was too expensive- £110 a night- for what if offered
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My wife and I cannot praise highly enough the stay we had.The location the ammenites of the Hotel the family run business was exceptional we felt so comfortable in their presence not to mention the food. A wonderful 2 night stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very relaxing and friendly place with good food and excellent service. Set in lovely countryside would recommend as a break in itself or as a good central base for exploring the area.
