Guest Reviews
- Laetitia (10/5): - Amazing charming place , we were on our own. Felt like home. Best breakfast in my life with very chic crockery.
- Paul (9/5): Made to feel special. - I love the ambience, the charm, its location and its fantastic breakfast. Nothing
- Guylaine (10/5): -
- Erica (10/5): - Exceptional staff, experience, and comfort. A very special hotel.
- James (10/5): Fabulous hotel, amazing breakfast and friendly staff - Fabulous boutique hotel, with amazing breakfast and friendly staff - it’s a must stay if in Galle
- Liam (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel with a ton of charm and excellent staff - A beautiful hotel inside an old colonial building. The rooms were lovely and the facilities were excellent. Shower pressure was particularly great. The staff were also amazing, going over and above to make our stay an excellent experience. The 5 course breakfast is a must-have! Nothing!!
- Zainab (10/5): Best stay experience of our entire Srilanka experience - Design aesthetic and location close to all the key places Nothing!
- Yaroslav (10/5): We absolutely loved it - It is fabulous experience to stay here. Special like for breakfasts, which was beautiful and tasty.
Staff was always there to help us with anything. The only problem was with water temperature adjustment in the bathroom. It was too hot or too cold.
- Rhiannon (10/5): We had a fantastic stay at Prince Galle Fort. The building is truly unique—full of character and beautifully designed, b - The property was unique and different to anywhere we’ve stayed before. The decor was spectacular and each room carefully thought out. NA
- siluna (10/5): - The breakfast and then gentleman suite was very nice!
- Rachel (9/5): - Absolute fabulous stay and staff couldn't do enough to make us comfortable, especially Saranga . Well worth the visit .
Their breakfasts, also know as the breagustation are locally famous .
- Ivan (10/5): -
- Abby (10/5): - Perfect end to our Sri Lanka trip, the staff were amazing and did everything they could to make our stay great. 10/10 location and breakfast.

- Fiona (8/5): Fun and quirky place to stay - This is a fun and stylish place, with lots of quirky pleasures including the degustation breakfast served on beautiful old plates, the thermos of tea delivered early to the bedroom door and the witty design throughout. If you get a good room the place is very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly and there’s a real pride in the traditions the place is creating. The location near the end of the fort is lovely. Our first ground floor room (queen studio) was both small and noisy - you could hear the kitchen, the cafe, the street. We were moved when we raised the issue and the first floor room was much nicer - even though it ran out of water mid morning and left us heading out without having had a shower. Other thing to note is that the plunge pool doesn’t really look plausible as a place to actually use - it’s about the same size as the fishpond next to it. If you want to cool off in a pool another place might be better.
- Phoebe (10/5): -
- Birgit (10/5): - Prince of Galle is a beautiful hotel in the middle of Galle Fort. The attention to detail, the hospitality, the rooms, the staff - everything made our 3 night stay one we will never forget. Special shoutout to Saringa, Geetha and Kapila for looking after us! The 5-course breakfast is an experience of its own. Thank you for a truly amazing time!
- Felix (10/5): -
- CLAUDIA (9/5): A hotel run with love - Beautiful colonial stylish converted stables inside the Fort . We liked the Welcome, (incredible ice tea) the exceptional breakfast (5 course “breagustation”) and the coffee tray outside the room. From the Morris Minor outside to the sunset on the roof terrace, it’s done with love. Rooms are compact but beautifully designed, very comfortable bed. It is a property full of eye candy and the perfect stay for the last 2 nights of a 3 wk holiday to get a colonial feel for Sri Lanka.
I would love to stay again! Nothing!
- Richard (10/5): A perfect end to our 12 days in Sri Lanka. - Stunning hotel, lovely staff and amazing 5 course breakfast. Nothing.
- Jessica (9/5): - Location, building and room was beautiful. The iced tea on arrival was delicious and the staff went out of their way to help us with anything and everything Dance music playing in the bar all day. It really ruined the vibe and was not fitting with the venue. It also made it difficult to sleep when resting in any of the downstairs rooms.
- David (10/5): - Prince of Galle Hotel was exceptional—beautifully decorated, spotless, and staffed by a team that was outstanding from the moment we checked in.
Each morning began with tea and coffee served outside your room, followed by a five-course dégustation breakfast, which was a highlight of our stay.
In the evenings, a grand piano played on the second level from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, creating an atmosphere that felt true to the hotel’s original glory days.
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. nothing
- Martin (9/5): Romantisch, nostalgisch & schön - ankommen bei guten Freuenden - Wunderbare Atmosphäre. Familiär, nostalgisch, luxuriös und bestes Frühstück in town. Nichts
Dźwięki w środku nocy i o poranku.
- chloe (10/5): A beautiful stay to remember - I absolutely loved the whole design of this stay, such beautiful interiors and homely settings. No ask is ever too much for the attentive staff and it's tucked away peacefully just a short stroll from the main streets of Galle. The breakfast is a must, exceptional!
- Karthik (10/5): - The welcome iced tea was absolutely classic
- Elke (9/5): - Ein hervorragendes Frühstück - besser geht nicht! ./.
- Patrick (9/5): -
- Gaurav (10/5): -
- Harry (10/5): Stunning boutique hotel with the best breakfast in Sri Lanka. - Stunning property in such relaxing surroundings. A welcome shady escape from the blistering heat of the streets of Galle. The best breakfast I had in Sri Lanka by a country mile. I was a little too tall for my room! Wish they advertised their cosier rooms as being so.
- Dana (10/5): - Beautiful property with stunning courtyard restaurant in a ln art-deco building. But most importantly the true experience was the hotel’s staff. Everyone was incredibly nice and the food and drinks are seriously the best. There was nothing that I didn’t like
- SHAMBHU (6/5): great city , extremely poor amenities in otherwise a nice property - great staff & service - Sarang was a blessing , other staff were wonderful as well
excellent location extremely poor quality of the 3 bed accomodation which we booked ; dirty ; no amenities , broken down , incomplete bath amenities
not at all worth the price we were charged
- Mandy (9/5): Exceeded all expectations, - Location was perfect to explore the fort and walk around. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. I also got a room upgrade and the room was perfect, everything well thought out. Breakfast was AMAZING, I am still thinking about it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again if I was in Galle.
- Olaf (8/5): -
- Anniek (10/5): - The staff is so attentive, sweet and kind. We were planning to stay one night, but ended up staying longer. The breakfast is served downstairs and is one of the best we ever had! Nothing..we loved it
- Sarah (9/5): - Groovy, location Small room
- Stefan (10/5): It was truly an experience of vintage excellence! - Every aspect of the stay was excellent! The breakfast was phenomenal! Nothing I would change!
- Jorge (9/5): Fantastic place in Galle - The hotel is quite charming and comfortable. The breakfast is really an experience, don't miss it. I also enjoyed the live piano music evening on the lovely upper floor, having a wonderful iced tea. I was traveling alone, and I've stayed in the annex building. It was a small room, but also much more affordable than the ones in the main building. Anyway, I liked the room, and I had a comfortable stay.
- Jorge (9/5): Great and charming hotel in Galle - The hotel is quite charming and comfortable. The breakfast is really an experience, don't miss it. I also enjoyed the live piano music evening on the lovely upper floor, having a wonderful iced tea. I was traveling alone, and I've stayed in the annex building.
- Agnieszka (10/5): - Piękne miejsce z kolonialnym charakterem i pysznym śniadaniem
- Raife (10/5): Exceptional. Would highly recommend! - We stayed at Prince of Galle for two nights and the room was amazing- so clean and the bed was so comfortable. The staff were incredible and the breakfast was delicious! The staff were also so attentive with my wife’s nut allergy. They served us iced tea on arrival which was extremely refreshing after a long flight. The hotel is in walking distance to all the restaurants, bars and shops. Would highly recommend! Nothing. Everything was perfect!
- Emilie (10/5): A faire sans hésiter !! - Magnifique établissement, très joliment décoré. Parfaitement situé. Calme et très propre. Service impeccable, souriant et accueillant.
Petit déjeuner gastronomique fin et très gourmand !!
Même la playlist est sublime à écouter.
Tarif très correct. Sublime rapport qualité prix
- Sam (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Everything to like, nothing to dislike - Great location on a side street in old town fort area. Beautiful period property, expertly restored and spotlessly clean. The staff were superb, so friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfast.
- Kim (10/5): - Lovely setting, great location, super friendly staff. Amazing ice tea! Nothing
- Andy (10/5): - Sehr geschmackvoll renoviertes koloniales Haus
- Josie (10/5): -
- Oriol Milà Pascual (8/5): Signature bregustation and live piano music in the evening inside the fort! - Great location inside Galle Fort, you can explore the entire fort easily on foot. The hotel staff offer warm hospitality and truly do their best to make you feel at home. They also offer a “Bregustation” which is an excellent selection of traditional Sri Lankan breakfast dishes and an absolute must‑try. Although we enjoyed the stay, from our perspective it is overpriced compared to accommodation elsewhere in the country.
- Melanie (10/5): A homely and joyful stay for our family of 4 - Beautifully presented with a super relaxed homely vibe. Great on site facilities. Super centrally located in Galle Fort. Loved everything!
- ETSUYO (9/5): - Good location, great breakfast, warm hospitality of hotel staff Single room was very small.
- Priya (10/5): -
- Ines (9/5): -
- Sam (10/5): Charming boutique hotel in the heart of Galle - Great old building, with heaps of charm. Staff were great, best service we received in all of Sri Lanka. Nothing. Everything was great
- craig (10/5): Spell-bounding - What a gorgeous suprise - I could tell by the images etc it was going to benignly but the atmosphere was gorgeous, the staff excellent, the food superb x loved it and wish we had more time there x
- alon (10/5): -
- Athina (10/5): Amazing Hotel inside Galle Fort - Beautiful hotel! The building is traditional and everything in the decoration was very thought out creating a unique atmosphere. We especially enjoyed having pasta and wine at the hotels balcony listening to live piano playing. The breakfast consisted of many dishes and was delicious as was the cinnamon tea on arrival. The staff were extremely attentive.

- Rebecca (8/5): Come for the breakfast! - Great location for exploring Galle, and the best breakfast we’ve probably ever had - this really made the hotel for us! The room itself is pretty basic and small considering the price.
- Xi (8/5): Nice design hotel, but don’t pick the small room -
- Catherine (10/5): What a special place - loved it - Breakfast was amazing- so many courses - Staff were lovely really helpful - location in the fort was great Nothing
- Wendy (10/5): Had a fantastic stay at the Prince of Galle. Wonderful hospitality, in a unique and characterful building which felt pea - Service and hospitality, food was excellent, rooms were comfortable and clean, location spectacular, the building itself was unique and had a lot of character Nothing
- Martina (9/5): - Gute, Lage, schönes Haus, freundliches Personal, tolles Frühstück Mein Zimmer war extrem klein, kein Platz im Bad, um Sachen hinzustellen
- debra richards (10/5): Wonderful stay at Prince of Galle - We had a wonderful stay at Prince of Galle. The team worked very hard and always with a smile. The breakfast was amazing. The pasta and piano evening was fabulous. Thank you. N/A
- Lachlan (10/5): Must-stay heritage property in Galle Fort. - Incredible care and attention from the team, the manager especially was friendly and sincere. Kindly accommodated our very early morning check in. A beautiful place to stay with effortless style, the tasteful design makes the hotel feel luxurious while respecting the property’s history. Breakfast was great, we were already craving the next morning’s breakfast after only our first night. Will return whenever in Sri Lanka. If anything a book or small magazine about the building/hotel history and local information for the rooms.
- Nibal (8/5): The staff is great - The location is great and the live piano is amazing Can be noisy.
- Graham (10/5): Highlight of Sri Lanka - Everything about this small hotel is fabulous, amazing breakfast the hoppers a highlight, oh and the shots.
The staff a super friendly, the ice tea after a day in town is amazing refreshing and delicious, served while you take a dip in the plunge pool.
Every part of this hotel is thought out so well, the design of the rooms is superb 👌🏼 the morning tea outside your room,
I can only say this is a must for your stay in Galle a real surprise so much better that the pics depict, a real gem 💎 Absolutely nothing about this hotel is not to like ❤️
- Roselin Sara (9/5): Overall, really impressed with the vibe of the property and the staff. Location and view - Excellant. - Saranga and his team welcomed us and took care of us really well. The breakfast served was Excellant. This property is unique and has its own charm. We had a pleasant stay overall. The family room has only one bathroom which is extremely small. The front room in the family suite is small and can get a bit difficult to walk around freely.
- Anna (10/5): Nice memories - Stylish, good feeling, welcoming Evening piano a bit loud!
- Ian (7/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Brilliant - Location and very friendly , breakfast was fantastic and room was very quirky. Nothing
- sara (10/5): Memorable experience in exquisite and luxurious surroundings - Excellent interior design. Staff very friendly respectful and professional. Rukman the manager made sure we had everything we needed
Breakfast was authentic delivered in a contemporary manner. Excellent all round highly recommended
- Chris (10/5): Charming stay in a superb location - We had a lovely stay at the Prince of Galle. The location is brilliant, the staff were really friendly and the breakfasts were fabulous. Our room wasn’t huge but it was beautiful, in keeping with the rest of the hotel which is both stunning and charming. Thank you for a lovely stay
- Niti (7/5): Cute place but not one I would return to inspite of the hype built up before arrival! - We loved the location and the history behind the property. We loved the styling of the property and the delicious breakfast. While I understand that modern upkeeps
of an old property are hard, the sound proofing and the poor seals on the doors and windows meant that we were fair game for mosquitoes. The screens on the glass doors and windows do not provide much filtering of street lights or the lights from the common area. One bathroom was behind a wall that did not go up to the ceiling . The sound from the bathroom was not only in the room it is carved from but also in the room next door in the family suite. The master bedroom’s bathroom was through the common living area and shared corridor and had an open window where hundreds of mosquitoes lived happily.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Memorable stay in distinctive, well designed, caring hotel - The staff were delightful, kind and engaging. The hotel was stylish, comfortable and a welcome sanctuary.
We were nervous about the room (Queen) given some negative earlier reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. It was well designed with innovative use of space and materials that honoured the building’s aesthetic, and yes, dark as was at street level necessitating closed shutters, but very cool, cosy and perfect for us.
Everything was thought of, from beach towels and extra bedding to a writing desk and free postcard to send home.
The breakfast was wonderful and lived up to the rave reviews.
We spent our birthdays here, and are very grateful that we did. Thanks to all the team. Nothing- altho questionable music choices in the afternoon ( which they did turn down when asked).
- Elise (10/5): From the staff to the aesthetics of the place, just wonderful. It was such a beautiful stay and had - From the staff to the aesthetics of the place, just wonderful. It was such a beautiful stay and had the most incredible breakfast experience. We hope to come back sometime in life again Nothing
- Valerie (10/5): Highly recommended - wonderful boutique experience - Cute townhouse boutique hotel with a unique positive flair. Great artwork, thought through unique details everywhere. Really memorable, one of the nicest places in Sri Lanka. Excellent breakfast. Super friendly and professional staff. The kind of place you almost don’t want to share but keep a secret. Nothing really. Rooms are not huge but cute, so as long as one doesn’t have crazy expectations there this is totally fine.
- Anders (10/5): Just the perfect stay if you would like to experience the historical Galle. And good value for money as well! I can trul - The location inside the fort is just perfect! The staff are just so nice welcoming, helpful and smiling. The breakfast is just fantastic and a must have every morning! I have no complaints, what do ever!!
- Nadeeka (10/5): Spectacular experience - Exceptional service. So friendly and attentive. Such caring staff. They made us feel ao comfortable. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back. The bfast was superb and the fabulous cocktails in the evening whilst listening to the ‘Piano Man’ was so lovely.

- Mark (10/5): A really lovely boutique option inside Galle Fort - Our top floor King Suite was beautiful and stylishly appointed. The degustation breakfast was certainly a highlight of our stay and something to differentiate this boutique hotel. Staff were all helpful and friendly, including giving my wife the chance to try making hoppers at breakfast time. Location was excellent inside the fort and near main sights and restaurants. There are only a handful of rooms, which makes it feel exclusive. Parking arrangements were a little confusing, although we were lucky to be able to park nearby with a short walk with luggage.
- Rohan (10/5): - The location was really great. Inside the fort and close to everything. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff especially Saranga were attentive, pleasant and courteous. They were very helpful and accommodating to my needs.
It was our anniversary and I asked Saranga to help with a few flowers but he went above and beyond to help make it very memorable for her with a cake and petals.
The staff are very welcoming and definitely take the home vibe to heart.
The breakfast was exceptional. The flavours were really great. The hoppers with the quail egg one of the best things i have eaten. Their homemade jam is really good. Would highly recommend.
- Joel (10/5): Amazing hotel, awesome stay! - The best place we stayed in Sri Lanka, the staff were incredible and the food was amazing, we loved everything about it! A truly memorable experience!
- Yvan Seigneur (10/5): - Tout Un enchantement
- Vikram (1/5): - The roons were didmel. Bed was one side on steps. The toilet and bath was under a staircase. Access to the room was from a place where people were drinking and smoking with smoke smell in the room. No place to keep luggage. Wifi kept dropping after about every 5 to 8 mins. We asked to chsnge roons but no go. We were supposed to stay for e nights but left after we found other hotel in about an hour snd s half onebof the worst hitrld i have ever experienced a disgrace and miserabke. They csll it heritage but just being old does not mske it livabkr Roons, location, rude staff, will facilities
- Yannick (10/5): Very lovely quirky place. Worth upgrading to the King’s room! - The decor, location, staff and breakfast
- Aruna (9/5): Loved the ambience and the breakfast! - Wonderful staff. Spotlessly clean. The best ever breakfast experience! We loved our drinks in the lounge in the evening. I regret not eating dinner there as the two meals we had: lunch at the Merchant and dinner at The Puppet were so underwhelming! I’m sure if the breakfast was anything to go by, a bowl of pasta at the Prince would have been outstanding! Next time.:::: No bedside table! If there could have been a little ledge somehow clipped to the slatted bed head at each end (our room were Nos. III & IV) it would have been perfect for a glass of water atleast.
It took a bit of getting used to the wet room with rain shower. The floor dried very quickly. If I didn’t bring my own shower cap it would have been a pain!
I absolutely HATED the electronic music they played in the afternoon. I was so loud and the thumping really was unsettling - not at all restful. The piano music in the evening was more soothing so we were happy to stay for a lovely drink in the evening in the lounge.

Very noisy + dark as you need to stay with closed windows, this was not specified and the price of the room was quite high.
- David Harding (9/5): - It's like staying in a slice of history.
Great staff and incredible breakfast.
Life changing ice Tea. Very small rooms.
- Mario (10/5): It felt like I went back in time. Amazing property and lovely staff - It’s a well maintained gem in the beautiful Galle Fort.
- Jaroslaw (7/5): In short, you’re paying for the location and a unique breakfast experience, but if you're looking for a standard tha - Breakfast was an interesting and delicious experience. The triple room was very small and lacked any style. It’s not really my cup of tea to stay in a room covered in all sorts of posters, including Communist ones mixed with others. The Admiral building (the one opposite the reception) was dirty and felt like it had only recently been taken over. It’s in desperate need of deep clean.
- Vineet (7/5): - Amazing location, amazing breakfast!
