Guest Reviews
- Tendai (8/5): - Comfortable and relaxing
- RAMA (4/5): - The hotel has a lively atmosphere and a convenient location, making it a popular spot in Dar es Salaam. However, my stay was less enjoyable due to several issues. The rooms were not well-maintained, with noticeable cleanliness problems, including an unpleasant smell of cigarettes. The noise from the bar downstairs made it difficult to get a good night's rest, especially late into the night.
While the social scene and bar might appeal to some guests, those looking for a quiet and clean environment may want to explore other options. Improvements in room hygiene and noise insulation would greatly enhance the guest experience.
- Richard (6/5): - Reasonably priced
- richard (10/5): - Nice staff, surrounding area is very convenient plenty of shops and restaurants. Safe area as well. Every thing you need is in walking distance.
- Catherine (2/5): - Do not stay here!! Dirty and prostitution happens here!! You arenโt safe!!
- James (4/5): - The place is run down and the bed is like a piece of plywood.
- Martin (10/5): - As always, great staff and okay pricing for basic good accommodation. Coming back again next few years! ๐๐๐
- Hossam (4/5): - We are having major electric shortage causing me and other guest not having access to electricity, air-conditioning and water for the last 5 hours... I definitely would demand a refund for all this inconvenience... We can't even use restroom for #1!!!!! That's absolutely unprofessional.
- RAMA (8/5): - The toilet in my room would not flush the way is supposed to.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Not for everyone, but if you are lonely male it's ok. Downstairs there is a bar with hookers, but the food is rather bad. Breakfasts are like homemade and lack variety, but the staff is very friendly. At first I wanted to move when I saw the room, cause it doesn't look like in the photos, but everything was working including ac so in the end I'm satisfied. Very convenient location.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Please Don't Stay Here - I wasn't given the room I booked. The pictures on this app don't represent what they offer. Wi-Fi didn't work. The bar plays loud music at night. I was accused of having extra people in my room when I didn't. It seems that the bar is where men are trying to hook up with women for hire.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Can be good for the price - Before our trip we ordered middle class rooms. But we got little lesser rooms for the the first night and then upgrade to the best vip rooms for the rest of our stay. The location is good, televisions are not. Don't get the cheapest room option. Upper rooms are better. There is a bar downstairs and it can cause some noise in late evenings.
The customers are mostly single men. Do your homework for less surprises.
- Donna (6/5): - You definitely get what you pay for! I had to switch out of 3 bedrooms cause they either had mold or just plain smelled. Finally the fourth bedroom I was placed in was relatively clean and nice. The receptionist was very helpful and understanding. The location was perfect for me which is why I didnโt want to leave.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great, walkable location in the Oyster Bay/Masaki Peninsula area. Our room was well kept and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is good and the surrounding area is pleasant.
- Pierre (4/5): Avoid for business trip, perhaps ok for a backpack - As you may guess from the name, this place is first a bar, and then, way after, perhaps a hotel. Your room is basically just above the bar, so sleeping without earplugs before 1am on a Saturday will be complicated.
The staff doesn't speak English, or not at all which is unprofessional for a capital city hotel. Hence every communication is hard.
The double bed is actually two single beds next to each other, which of course is uncomfortable if you would like to sleep in the middle of your bed. Even the sheets are for 2 single beds.
The shower is not separated from the bathroom, so when you have a shower, the entire bathroom is wet.
The WiFi was either not working at all, or not sufficient to be used in the room.
But perhaps most annoyingly was the fact that the bar is full of prostitutes waving to you as you go upstairs to your room. Also quite difficult to feel home in that context. Unless you're a prostitute ?
Room size was good, as well as the AC, breakfast was ok but starting too late at 8am.
Poor value for money in general, 50$ a night in my case.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, practical hotel - Lovely large room with fridge and table areas. En-suite was functional but not overly pleasant. Some music could be heard from bar downstairs. Good location with shops and beach nearby. Expensive but good airport transfer. Safe place with nice staff.
- markus (8/5): - the staff is always friendly and willing to help, just ask and they try immediately.
- Gilbert (8/5): - The place was as described. Nice bed, nice breakfast. Staff was friendly and the food was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall the room was acceptable; tv only 4 channels available, service was great had in-room breakfast and allow late check out upon request
only complain was downstairs bar music loud into the night.
- Reza (8/5): Low Cost Escape Away Spot from Dar City - Good low cost hotel to spend a wonderful evening and enjoy the great location during the day in Oyster bay. KFC,Pizza Hut,Sub Way, Samaki Samaki(sea food), Mystic Masala and Khana Khazana(indian food) and Oyster bay Farmer's Market at walking distance. Great meeting point for expats during the evening. Enjoy good food, live music, watch football on big screen at hotel until 2.00 a.m. Great for solo backpackers to escape away from Dar City centre.
- Robert (10/5): - This hotel may not be to everyone's choice, but I liked it. The room I had was good, in room safe, Wi-fi is OK, the TV was old but it worked OK, the air-con worked and a fridge in the room, what more do you want from a hotel....
I had the top floor room over looking the bar, when I stayed it was no problem with noise from the bar but it was not at a weekend, maybe that would be different I don't know so can't say...
The question is, would I stay here again and the answer is yes....
