• Ruben (8/5): Great hostel for those that also prefer a bit more luxury. The surrounding is beautiful as well. - This hostel is not what was expecting, but we enjoyed the stay, accommodation and the location of this property. we had a room with own facilities, but for those interested, shared facilities as well as washer/drier are available. Applecross is very close by and offers a pub and some other places. nice and small. all good.
• Jessica (5/5): Het verblijf viel tegen, ondanks de positieve beoordelingen. - Dat we een eigen toilet en badkamer hadden. Kamer rook erg muf net als het beddengoed. Dat had de beste tijd wel gehad. Dit gold ook voor het bed dat niet comfortabel was. Blij dat we maar 1 nacht verbleven hier.

• Mikko (8/5): - Applecross was a very nice stop on our roadtrip! Really liked the atmosphere here. Two beds whereof on with a hard mattress and on very soft one. Not very comfortable. Very noisy rooms (persons next door and outside of room could be heard very clear).

Breakfast options could be more optimal … 2 croissants and a carton of juice is quite small and ‘unhealthy’. Would have like some simple yoghurt and fruit as an option.
• Alison (10/5): Great place - We were pleasantly surprised by our stay as it was the first time we'd stayed in a hostel. Our room was huge with tea/coffee, toiletries and towels. We didn't use the communal kitchen or laundry facilities but appreciated the opportunity to purchase pizzas or pre-order a simple breakfast. nothing

• Craig (8/5): - We had a really spacious ensuite room. The fella on reception explained everything to us and they sell a lot of things and also pizzas, but no alcohol, so bring your own. You can park right outside of the property. If you are not eating in the property, then you only have a couple of local options. Make sure you phone a few days in advance otherwise you could be disappointed. We ate in the Applecross inn. All the food looked superb, especially the prawns and scallop main courses. We had the haddock and chips which were big and superb. They also have a van outside doing takeaway fish and chips and early in the morning they have another place doing bacon sarnies, which were real quality. Not the cheapest, but so good and they know how to do the bacon. To walk into the Applecross Inn took us 30 minutes and 40 minutes returning via a path after a few scoops, which cuts off walking on the road, etc. The Applecross walled garden restaurant which is closed on Sundays and Mondays is the closest and is about a 10 minute walk I would say. Applecross is lovely, the drive is a little hairy, so take that into consideration when you plan your journey and I mean that both ways, either via the coast route or over the pass. The mattress needs renewing as the springs seem to be coming through.

• Juan (8/5): - La casa se encuentra al final de una carretera de más de 1Km, en medio del campo. Muy tranquilo, pero por contra no hay nada cerca (restaurante, bar o sitio donde comprar comida). Dado que está en medio del campo, deberían dar opciones para poder cenar algo allí mismo (solo venden pizzas congeladas para que te las hagas tú mismo en la cocina).

• Gordian (8/5): - Liegt sehr abgelegen in einem schönen Tal. Rundherum gibt es, bis auf zwei Restaurants, nichts. Für uns zur Durchreise mehr als genug. Das Personal ist sehr nett. Das Zimmer war sauber und sehr geräumig. Es sind genug kostenlose Parkplätze vorhanden.

• Wolfgang (10/5): - Die Lage ist sehr ruhig- für uns genau richtig. Wir hatten das Deluxe Zimmer gebucht. Es war riesig. Vom Haus aus kann man tolle Wanderungen machen. Das Lunchpaket (wurde kontinentales Frühstück genannt) für 5£ ist überteuert und war äusserst mager.

• Daisy32 (7/5): Prima hostel - Prima hostel met goede faciliteiten en vriendelijk personeel. Ligt middenin de natuur en cafe Walled Garden is een aanrader! Is wel echt een hostel, met stapelbedden en gedeelde badkamer e.d. Sanitair is wel ruim en schoon, maar helaas geen wasbak op de kamer. Bijkopen van het ontbijt is zonde aangezien het bestaat uit 2 (mini!) croissants en een pakje sap.

• Héline (10/5): - Nous avons adoré notre nuit à Hartfield House Hostel, cette auberge de jeunesse perdue au milieu de nulle part. Le personnel est très serviable, la propreté de l'auberge, les chambres simples mais confortables (attention matelas à ressort dans la nôtre pour celles/ceux qui n'aiment pas cela), une grande cuisine commune toute équipée, un salon pour se reposer, le tout au milieu d'une campagne verdoyante proche de la mer. Le seul nous concernant : la mauvaise insonorisation des murs. Mais nous avons eu des voisins calmes et des bouchons d'oreille donc pas de problème pour dormir.

Het hostel was vol geboekt, maar hier hebben wij tijdens ons verblijf niks van gemerkt iedereen hield zo mooi rekening met elkaar! Een plek voor alle walks of life, het is mooi om te zien dat dit soort plekken ook goed kunnen uitpakken.

• Duncan (10/5): I’ve been doing the NC500 and only staying one night at a time, this was the best value. - Didn’t have breakfast. I’d booked a family room so I could have an en-suite, the whole space was huge and I particularly liked the shower. Location of course, spectacular. The bed mattress for me wasn’t so comfortable but that’s more to do with my dodgy hips.

• Alexander (10/5): A must-stay location on the NC500! - Absolutely stunning location where the only sound in the morning is birdsong, and I even spotted deer as I left early in the morning to tackle the nearby Bealach na Bá :) you're a few minutes drive from a lovely pub on the water and another nearby restaurant, where the staff kindly offered to call to get me a table. If these get overbooked you can easily self cater and there is a tuck shop and pizzas available on reception. A friendly staff member gave a quick tour of the hostels well-kept shared facilities and explained how everything worked. I didn't require these as I had an ensuite that was very spacious and comfortable, but I would have definitely felt comfortable using them. There's also a gym and the place is very cycle friendly ie storage etc. I only booked a quick stop as part of my NC500 trip, and wish I got to spend more time here, in comfort, in such a beautiful part of Scotland

Showers were clean (although mind that there is only 1 drain for 3 stalls, so you’ll make a kiddy pool and will need to use the squeegee) The noise really carries (we could hear people talking in the kitchen while in the bedrooms, and the neighbour coughing). Also, for over £80 per night per room, I wouldn’t expect to have to remove the bedsheets myself
• Gunhild (8/5): Very nice place, except for an issue with breakfast. - Nice rooms, clean and plentiful common areas. Could walk down to Applecross in half an hour. Would absolutely stay here again. Someone took our breakfast, which we had ordered and paid for. We were three guests, and there were only two breakfast bags left in the kitchen on the counter for us. No staff around at that time in the morning to help us sort this issue. Except for this, we really enjoyed the stay. I also wish there had been a small towel on each bed, or maybe the website informs that you have to bring your own?

• Melanie Kopp (8/5): - Das Hostel liegt sehr ruhig und in einer wunderschönen Gegend auf der Applecross Halbinsel. Alles war wirklich sehr sauber und das Personal überaus freundlich! Es gibt einen tollen Gemeinschaftsraum mit Büchern und Brettspielen, den wir leider gar nicht genutzt haben. Die Gemeinschaftsküche und Bäder waren auch sehr sauber und alles da was man braucht. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen!

La maison est bien équipé et le personnel très gentil (si vous arrivez tard possibilité d’acheter des pizzas ou autres produits que place ) Seule points négatifs, nous avons voulu laver nos vêtements car une machine à laver et un sèche linge est proposé pour 6€. Malheureusement nos habits n’étaient pas propres et pas sec.

• Konichicat (7/5): Very nice location - The location of this place was absolutely insane. You have the mountains, the coos, the bubbling creek... The deer! Oh it was so peaceful, and the walled garden was a short walk away which was gorgeous too. The location alone is an amazing selling point. The amenities looked nice too, although we didn't use them. We had some noisy neighbours, as what comes with a hostel, but the soundproofing is non existent... We heard someone snoring who was nowhere near our room half the night! That person has LUNGS! Beds were not that comfortable, so we didn't sleep too well.

• Stephen (10/5): Good for an overnight stay. There are not many options for accomodation or dining out at Applecross. Go to the inn for a - We were three adults in a four bed bunk room. Double bunk and two singles. Seperate common bathrooms. It was not busy. There is a main house and then a seperate bunk house building containing the bunk rooms. The house and bunk room building both have well equipped kitchens and lounge rooms. This is essentially upmarket backpacker style accomodation but well run, clean and in good condition.
