Guest Reviews
- Alexander (8/5): Probably the best place to stay in town - Good location, within walking distance to the centre of town. Modern building with friendly staff. It’s very expensive (as is the whole country) and you kind of expect more quality for what you’re paying - this covers the meals too.
- Niamh (6/5): Review after 10 night stay! - The female staff were all lovely and helpful. Comfortable beds with good air con. Food was decent albeit completely overpriced. We stayed here for 10 nights and to be clear - this is not a 5 star resort, at a push its a 4. The price we paid to stay here is not reflective of the standard provided at all. The rooms are comfortable but are in serious need of a deep clean, they have been surface cleaned only for a long time from what I can see. The resort is open to the general public and at times I was made to feel very uncomfortable by large groups of drunk locals who congregated in reception daily. I was even harassed for close to an hour by the pool one day by 3 very drunk locals and eventually I had to leave for my own safety. Security dont seem to exist bar at the front gate. There is some sort of public walkway through the resort so when at the restaurant/bar you are stared at etc. The female staff were all wonderful but the male staff seemed to ignore us completely. Unclear what that was about. The food was nice but again, completely overpriced for what was on offer. The pool area was nice but the skimmers didn't seem to work in the pool so there was a chap cleaning it for hours every morning rendering it unusable even though it was supposed to be "open'. There were no showers by the pool for people to wash before getting in and this is also open to non-residents for a fee so at the weekends was packed. I managed to pick up an eye infection from the pool so I wouldnt recommend putting your head under the water here. You are also charged an additional 3% on top of any payments you make by card. This was not advised at the time of booking which it should have been. As mentioned in other rviews, you will hear dogs fighting every night, not the hotels fault of course but bring your ear plugs with you and on the other side of the resort there are ongoing construction works, again not the hotels fault but worth being aware of as we decided not to stay at the Heritage Park down the road because they advised of neighbouring works taking place, and we ended up having them anyway.
- John (10/5): -
- patricia (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Taketoshi (9/5): -
- chelsea (6/5): - Lovely staff and comfortable rooms. The pool was out of order the entire time but the booking doesn’t tell you that. The property is much smaller than it seems. There’s options for paddle boards etc but no beach and the water in front of hotel is gross.
- Peter (7/5): Reasonable place to stay if you are in Honiara for business for a few days. -
- JAMES (6/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Nadakal (10/5): Excellent - Location, all worked well, exceptional reception staff especially Leticia. She gone than extra mile to make all comfortable Too pricey. May be booking.com doing the extortion and the poor hotel and staff not getting what they deserve
- O'Boyle (8/5): Excellent,your Staff are your Treasure,mind them well! -
- Laura (6/5): -
- Greg (8/5): Good hotel in Honiara for boat transfer - Good clean place when transfering to new location. Steps to pool need to be better marked. Three people from our dive boat stumbled on the stairs and one nearly broke her wrist.
- Joy (9/5): -
- James (7/5): It was fine. - The outdoor terrace at the reception area.
The staff on the reception and the restaurant
Bed was comfortable The view of the back of the villa in front of me.
The overpriced transfer to and from the airport.
The Buffet breakfast is Basic
- John (10/5): Comfortable and clean - Very nice property. Clean and tasteful setting. Helpful and nice staff
- Brent (9/5): This hotel is one of the best ones in Honiara, so pleased we could stay there. - Location and facilities
Meals were very good Cleanliness of room, very noisy bathroom extract fan, pillows were uncomfortable, beds are quite small for two people.
- Greg (8/5): Good overnight stay but expensive - Good place to stay overnight when transiting to a different island. Airport shuttle bus was excellent but for small fee. Very expensive
- Jeremy (8/5): -
- ADAM J (1/5): - NIC!!!!!!!! WSZYSTKO !!!!!!!!
- Paul (7/5): Stay was solid, staff were great and good work based accomodation. - Breakfast was ok. Generally had the continental.
Very basic. A single toaster for all guests not really good enough and a broader selection probably needed. Food was fresh. We chose a poor time with the pool being out of action but apart from that all was good.
- Jiří (4/5): - Skoro nic Personál, lokalita, jídlo, cena
- Suresh (10/5): -
- Miguel (5/5): 3* hotel with some shortfalls but still one of the few better options in Honiara - Fairly central location, rooms are spacious. Staff is not well trained and, while friendly, not very helpful. Pool was under maintenance, not many facilities, breakfast very poor, hotel boat for excursions under maintenance, hotel room infested with baby crabs and worst of all the hotel charges a 3% fee on credit card transactions which booking.com doesn’t tell you about. The hotel is CV locally rated as 3* which is appropriate but booking.com rates it misleadingly as 5*.
- Williams (4/5): This Island and this hotel are not for you if you are tourists - it is set up for businessmen. - No breakfast included.
Locally employed staff were charming and friendly.
Food was of a good standard and looked well. A lot.
Management gave the impression that they were there to maximise income at the expense of the guest. Compared with restaurants/shops outside the gates, everything in the hotel was marked up heavily. OK for an business expense account.
The pool looked fine and was cleaned daily, but was not open. From reviews this seems to be a common occurrence. We were sent to a local hotel for their pool which was not up to much and our return transport never materialised. We had to call a taxi (which was reimbursed).
The garden view room overlooked the rear of the 'lodges'. We were on the1st floor - ground floor would have been worse. The room itself was OK apart from the ants in the tea/coffee container. The bed was clean and the aircon effective.
The rooms to have would be the ocean view rooms at the end of the building - otherwise as a place to sleep for a night or two it is OK - but not for a holiday.
- Peter (7/5): -
- Carol (8/5): The hotel and staff are great . But the reception staff need to improve communication Need to communicate - Very well maintained The pool was not open. I asked very day but the reception staff failed to tell me that the hotel had an arrangement where they would take you to a different hotel to use the pool at no charge . I was also told that I didn’t need to check out of my room until 12 noon but I then received I call saying I should have to check out by 12 am .
- Laith (10/5): Great experience - The staff were super helpful and polite highly trained and reflect the best face of Solomon Islands
- Lauren (8/5): - The breakfast was delicious! I tried a few places and this was the best. My faves were the fruit salad and eggs benedict, and my colleague liked the breakfast burrito. They had excellent flat whites.
- Haydn (9/5): -
- Giulio (10/5): -
- Sadesh (9/5): -
- Dinu (3/5): - Not so much. The noise.
- Mark (9/5): Go for the history, stay for the hospitality - Wonderful staff. Always very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful open air lobby/atria so one can enjoy the cool breeze.
- Charis (8/5): - Friendly staff with good customer service The beds can be more spacious with better aesthestic design
- Mafi (5/5): Nice but I don’t think I’ll stay here again. - Rooms are spacious and clean It’s too noisy and staff seem confused when paying for your stay or anything charged to your room. Several times we had to repeat ourselves that have already paid the bill but they still had it on our bills that we needed to pay it
- Charis (8/5): - Good customer service and friendly staff The rooms can be more spacious and nicer
- Betty (8/5): - Comfortable room. Good maid service Very slow dining room service
- Kundan (8/5): Great and comfortable stay but service can be imporved - The hotel is among the best in Honiara. Rooms are clean and you can enjoy the evenings by the sea. The staff service can be bit better especially at breakfast. No one seems to care if there is a guest.
- Tiofilusi (8/5): Love it! - Facility and food were awesome All good
- john (4/5): Not the best hotel on the island - better would be Heritage Hotel - Disaster - argued every day over our breakfast plan being included. Not professional and argumentative. More pleasant staff
- Krzys Jurek (9/5): Overall a really good hotel for Honiara - recommended - It is a comfortable hotel and casino in Honiara with a limited number of rooms (either the 30 'deluxe' double rooms in the main annex to the hotel or 5 bungalows on the grounds with their own jacuzzi on their patios) right by the sea. I stayed in one of the deluxe rooms - I recommend asking for the rooms on the first floor where there is some view but it is convenient to walk up and down the stairs. Room is large with a big balcony, The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped. You nalso get a large fridge which is really convenient. Finally, it has both air conditioning and a fan - and they were most welcome in the sweltering heat I experienced. The hotel grounds have two restaurants and they are both good., the room service is really good. There is a large open but covered lounge area for an afternoon/evening drink at the entrance of the hotel with chill live music most nights. The swimming pool is also quite nice for a late afternoon dip. There is no 'inside' dining as the Haydn's and the Boardwalk restaurants are either in a covered but open space or al fresco (boardwalk). When its particularly hot, you may then choose to eat in your aid conditoned room. Also I have had some trouble with wifi as its is not stable and you need to reactivate it very regularly. That being said, having wifi altogether is already a pretty good thing in Honiara. The hotel does not have a shop for essentials (this is a little problematic as it is not evident to know where to go buy essentials in town). Although the resort is on the seafront, there is no beach nor waterfront facility.
- Rose (9/5): - Nice layout of room and property in general. Good restaurant.
- Paul (6/5): - Modern hotel.Good fridge in room. Ground floor room (105) no privacy and very noisy,,(staff outside). Had room service pizza, expensive and poor quality. Overall expensive by international standards.Had a band on Tues night. Far too loud.
- Cheyenne (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay in Honiara - Stayed here for work but would return for a personal trip! I really enjoyed the Deluxe Resort View Suite. The bed was comfortable, the air con worked well, the shower pressure was strong with hot water. Everything met or exceeded my expectations! The on-site restaurant was also really tasty. I had breakfast every single morning and ordered room service dinner after arriving after dark. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The WiFi was not great. There was 1 power outage in the middle of the night but the hotel notified everyone in advance. Also, there aren't many places to swim or snorkel on the property. It is actually recommended to take a taxi to Bonegi Beach for solid swimming and snorkeling.
- Van Duan (10/5): -
- Charity (8/5): - The facillity was safe, staff are kind and helpful.
The menu sold from the restaurants were good, but may be just a little bit of upgrading would be helpful..
- Craig K G Smith (8/5): -
- Khaldi (1/5): Arnaque totale. A fuir - Rien. Le patron est horrible. Il insulte ses clients. La direction et les prix exorbitants
- Anthonia (10/5): -
- Gizelle (6/5): -
- Linda (10/5): - Lovely hotel with a good pool. The main restaurant food was really good. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Some road works being completed outside but it is to improve the area providing pavements rather than a dirt track so it will be better once completed.
- Carmen (10/5): -
- Carmen (10/5): -
- Pierre (1/5): Arnaque totale. This is a SCAM - Rien. La direction
- Cassandra (10/5): -
- Tiofilusi (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Very limited choices in Honiara and prices are high. Expect to pay minimum USD200 per night. CSR is modern and fresh. Only ate there twice, food was good but expensive. There really isn't anything to do at night except have dinner and go to bed. Ok if it's a work trip but not a holiday.
- Joshua (9/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): -
- Rachael (7/5): Overall I enjoyed my stay, but too overpriced for the mediocre quality. - The location was great, right on the water with our room having a lovely view of the sea. The restaurants were nice with a good selection of food choices. All the hotel staff were polite and courteous. The air conditioning worked great and there was good security on the front entrance. The previous guest must have been a heavy smoker, as the room smelled repulsive. The smell of smoke transferred to all my clothing, towels etc. The cleaner kindly gave me some extra room spray, but it didn’t really make much difference.
Quite a lot of noise from the construction site next door and the resurfacing of the main road. Got woken up two nights in a row due to the noise of dogs fighting and a woman screaming. The restaurants running out of the local beer for a couple of days. A lot of local men sitting in the reception area drinking and smoking, some of whom were staring at me, which made me feel a little uncomfortable.
- DUO (8/5): -
- Pamela (5/5): Not very good - Nothing. Food was expensive and not very good, room rates were too high, breakfast was dreadful, the manhole cover in my bathroom burst open which made me feel vulnerable to rodents or even people. I called reception but they did not address the issue immediately. I had to go down to call them to fix it. I’m grateful for the guy who made an effort to help but still, that should not have happened. If other options were not fully booked, I would not stay at this hotel.
- Timothy (10/5): - Lovely room, friendly staff, good pool, able to order and dine from the restaurant while still on the room deck
- Masahiro (8/5): -
- Zachary (3/5): -
- Gary (8/5): Pleasant, will be better once the roadwork is finished - On site restaurant Barking dogs through the night
I channel TV Fox sports,
- Roy (8/5): Very good -
- PurposeTraveller (6/5): Good but could be better - I stayed on this property for a week and was okay by any standard...no real wow factor....the room was clean and confortable with friendly staff but a few issues to note:
*Transport from hotel to airport and vice verse is provided at a fee of $150 SBD.
*No breakfast included with room charges etc.
Had a few problem with my dinner at the restraunt having to send it back to the chef to correct a fee times... my dissapointment is that this is one of the pricier hotels in the country but service could be matched to ensure a memorable stay for guests as well as prompt a returnee option. My room though was cleaned daily and had a great ocean view. Could be a draw card....
- Gillian (6/5): Pleasant - It’s convenient for why we were travelling. Locals drinking and smoking out the front making it very uncomfortable to enter and exit.
- Andrew (5/5): Passable -
- craig (6/5): - Like the Solomon Islanders as a race, the staff here are friendly.
Food is of a good quality but (like the Solomons in general), pricey by Australian standards.
Room ('Ocean View Villa') was functional, but, looking out at the Boardwalk Bar and with the bar's WC attached to the villa, by no means secluded. Jacuzzi had some scum on the surface that led me to believe it hadn't been maintained in a while.
Overall, comfortable enough, but not luxe enough to command anywhere near the AUD600 per night price tag.
- Glenn (2/5): - Terrible location of room and balcony which is directly adjacent to squatters in cargo containers next door. They prohibited me from staying on balcony. Food is also terrible! I checkout out after first one (1) night although I paid for four (4)
- Evelyn (10/5): - A little bit of luxury in the middle of Honiara, with fabulous facilities and friendly staff.
- Vatche (6/5): - Honiara is a dirty unappealing town. However, stepping into Coral Sea Resort is a big step up. Undoubtably, it is one of the best in town
However, do not compare it with "resorts" in truly tourist conscious places.
The room had AC, hot water, tv, balcony. The room was thoroughly cleaned daily. However, the bed sheets, towels - although clean, had seen better days !
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - The staff made everything great. Personable and appropriately outgoing. They make you want to return
- Savenaca (8/5): Very good - Good Internet connectivity and friendly staff
- Cherry (7/5): Good -
- Tizangell (9/5): With choice of hotels limited in Honiara this is a good clean, tidy place with friendly staff. -
- Markus (7/5): Good -
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Debra (10/5): Paradise - Very accommodating staff.
Spotless from rooms to restaurants to reception.
Staff working constantly-
- Rod (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Good hotel in Honiara -
- Krzysztof (7/5): Very nice decor, friendly, good facilities, but no beach. - Great facilities and good location, friendly staff, nice decor and good outdoor bars and restaurants, excellent toiletries. No access to a beach
- Francis (10/5): If I return to Guadalcanal I will stay at this hotel again. - Everyone was very helpful, nice restaurant with great service and servers. If I return to Guadalcanal I will stay at this hotel again. We liked everything
- Adam.2410 (5/5): Disappointing - Good: food at the hotel is very good and of a high standard, but perhaps on the expensive side for the S.I
Bad: power was out over night so no AC. There is a lot of dogs near the hotel which bark all through the night so any form of sleep was impossible during the stay.
The hotel is not flexible with dates and there is an additional charge for using a credit card so for Buisiness travellers it's not a great option
The room although looks good had a broken plug near the desk so couldnt work from my labtop in the room.
Overall I would not stay here again which is a shame as the hotel had a lot going for it.
Much better options elsewhere!
- Carol (7/5): ok hotel with good staff and good location, lacking some key basics. - My room was ok. The prearranged shuttle had to be called 3 times from the airport and was an hour late. There were lots of spiders in the room and other bugs. The staff were quite good and responsive. The food ok but not great. I had been in 5 really good hotels in the previous days so I think I was expecting the same here. Didn’t happen.
- Shreyasi (8/5): Mixed bag. Clean rooms but noisy property - Pro: clean rooms, friendly staff. Very good SE Asian food at the Boardwalk
Cons: The whole place is very open and didn't seem secure. Anyone can walk in from the main all the way inside. In fact the villas which are the most expensive rooms have zero privacy. The hotel makes you sign something that basically says your privacy is your own responsibility. That's a little unusual. It's also super noisy until quite late both the music from the casino lobby and the construction next door. Very difficult to sleep
- Murray (7/5): We were there to connect with our cruise ship. It was a pleasant overnight stay. The bar had music. - The air con in the room was so cool that all the floors and windows were running with water. We found this dangerous and needed to mop up the moisture. We turned up the temperature too - The breakfast - very ordinary.
- Alison (7/5): sufficient but not sure the value is worth the price - good rooms, on water service in restaurant was SLOW and unorganized
- Paul (8/5): - Hotel was well staffed with good food options. Could do with a gym.
- Chrissy (8/5): Comfortable beds, good pool and friendly staff. A tad expensive - The rooms are very nice and comfortable. The pool is great. The bar at the ‘sea front’ is quite relaxing. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The floors could be cleaner. It would be nice to have one of those things you put your bag/suiycase on in stead needing to have it on the floor. The staff often get the orders wrong. Guess they’re still learning.
- Asif (8/5): Very good -
- Monique (9/5): Superb - Clean and quality finishes.
- Estee (8/5): pleasant - the Chinese restaurant and private jetty and they take the fallen petals into a heart shape in the mornings food was a bit expensive
- Kerry (7/5): Stay was good but the island is so dirty and por roads and rubbish every where and everything is so - Removing the barking dogs in the next property kept barking every night
- Politimi (10/5): - I think this is one of the best -- if not the best -- hotels to stay at when in Honiara. I am a business traveler, and I appreciate the dining options at the hotel if I don't want to go out to a restaurant after a long work day. The staff is pleasant and helpful.
- John (7/5): Not too bad for the area. Heritage Park down closer to the town is much better at similar pricing. - Nice bar overlooking the water Pool and surrounds is a bit ordinary. Howling dogs from the neighbours property in the early hours of each morning wakes you up..
