• Donna (9/5): Great budget place to stay in Samara - Located right in the center of Samara. I stayed here a few times and recommend it Last time I stayed there I booked the female dorm. Young women getting ready for bed late at night tend to be noisy. I think this was particularly true because the sink and bathroom are in the dorm room. This is also an advantage

• Mariana (9/5): Amplio edificio y la mejor cama de hostel - La Cama es lo más!!! El colchón es alucinante y la cama amplia y comoda de subir. El lugar es súper amplio con diversos sectores para elegir donde estar según tus necesidades. Tienen aberturas con vistas al exterior. Los espacios al ser cemento sin vegetación y en altura eran medio calurosos, las habitaciones no tenían el aire acondicionado prendido en ciertos momentos del día por lo que dormir una siesta no era muy cómodo. El baño al estar dentro de la habitación por ahí significaba ruido cuando alguien se bañaba o lo usaba mientras dormias.

• Aimee (2/5): Pretty uncomfortable stay - quality not worth the price. - Location was ideal and staff and volunteers were nice. I had high hopes based on the reviews but it definitely did not live up to the rating. Water was off frequently during my time there for long stretches of time. We didn’t have working toilets for two of the days and they didn’t seem in a hurry to fix them. When they did get fixed, the toilet handle broke in the attached bathroom and again it was left like that for 2 more days. Internet strength wasn’t reliable. Bathrooms were dirty - mirror wasn’t cleaned the entire stay, shower was backed up, floors were dirty, rugs weren’t replaced. Kitchen definitely needed a better organizing system: the fridges stank, the kitchen was almost always dirty, they were low on cutlery, the knives were super dull. This is definitely your basic party hostel and that was the obvious priority: the club is upstairs so be prepared for music until 2-3am almost every night.

Duzo przestrzeni, swietny taras, duza kuchnia (zlew przeciekal, tepe noze), ale byl czajniki, kilka lodowek, 2 zlewy, kuchenka, toster, mikrofalowka... Lozka wygodne. Recznik za depozytem. Lockersy. Fantastyczna lokalizacja (5 min do plazy, nie, hostel nie jest na plazy). Na dole bar i resto (ale nie glosne wieczorem). Slychac howler monkeys rano z tarasu!!!!! Brak cieplej wody. Brak indywidualnych lampek. Brak miejsca na powieszenie prania, mokrego kostiumu kapielowego do wyschniecia.

• Joy (9/5): A reasonably good hostel. - The location was fabulous, just a couple of blocks from the incredibly beautiful beach and buses. The staff were helpful and nice. Restaurants are abundant nearby. The mattress was a coil one and wasn’t all that comfortable. There are no curtains for the beds.

Everyone was friendly, the lady who washes the clothes let me use the spin on the machine to dry my clothes. Great location Staff were mostly volunteers who didn't seem to know how to convert dollars into colones or much else but they did recommend a good surf rental. The kitchen was a bit disorganised. Areas could have been a bit cleaner, bathroom could do with some TLC

Sámara is a true paradise : the perfect little beach town with the kindest people, the most beautiful beaches and the best vibe. Sandy toes hostel is perfectly located, is really clean and has the most amazing staff. They have activities every night that will help you make a lot of friends and have so much fun. I really recommend going there if you are searching for a place that will quickly feels like home. Although I must warn you : there is a high chance you end up staying there for way longer than originally planned ;) Thank you so much Kiban, Maria, Johanna, Naomi, Valérie, Meri and Chiqui; looking forward to seeing you again !
• Johanna (10/5): Things happening every night making it very easy to meet new people. You become like a family here! - Great location! Just 100 meters down to the beach. Nice vibe in the hostel with many new renovations making it very cozy and a good space to meet people. I had a great time here. Clean and great staff aswell :)

• Taidgh (10/5): An absolutely amazing hostel with amazing people - By far the best hostel i’ve ever stayed at!!! The hostel is super close to the beach (30 sec walk) and is right next to one of the only bars in Samara as well as a super good coffee shop (Zilus). The staff are all incredible and always willing to go the extra mile and help you and make sure you have a great stay. You can book tours like whale watching and snorkelling, surf lessons and even shuttles right at the hostel which makes everything super chill and stress free. The bathrooms, dorms, kitchen and common areas are all always clean and organized. The overall vibe of the hostel is great, super chill and relaxed and there’s also events happening every day that you can partake in if you want, some include bonfires on the beach, dj sets, pasta night, movie night, etc. The wifi is good and there are places to work online if you need. The hostel always feels super safe, i once accidentally left my wallet in the common area for a whole day and came back to it being in the exact same spot. i loved the hostel + sámara so much that i ended up coming back again and again and spent nearly 5 weeks in total at the hostel during my trip in costa rica!!! Can’t stress the fact that the staff here are amazing and all super kind, friendly and helpful!! if you are thinking of going to samara do it and stay at sandy toes!!!! Nothing negative to say about sandy toes

• Anna (10/5): AMAZINGGGG - I had the best time ever in Sandy Toes Hostel! So many kind people and the staff is amazing aswell. They always answered all my questions with a smile and gave a lot of helpful information about Samara. All the rooms have AC, are cleaned daily and the beds are super comfortable. The hostel organises different activities from bongfires, trips to different beaches, cooking and movie nights, beerpong and parties. There is definitely for everyone and its very easy to socialise through the spacious common areas. One is on the roof and even has a bar, the other one is downstairs where everyone eats together. Also the hostel is right in the center of Samara and only a short walk away from the beach, multiple shops and supermarkets. I would recommend the hostel to everyone from my heart and would rate 12/10 if I could. Lots of love and see u next time <3

• Maya (10/5): Exceptional - I loved Sandy Toes hostel! It was so welcoming and the staff were amazing! So helpful and always available to answer questions. Lots of socialising and always plans for the evening. But the rooms were also super comfortable so I could relax in my room if I wanted. They had loads of tour options and surf lessons available too at such good prices. Will definitely be returning to Sámara and hitting Sandy toes straight away! Nothing it was great!

There are different activities every day, like bonfire or beer pong. The rooms have A/C and lockers, which is really nice. I would definitely recommend to stay at this hostel if you come to Samara!

• Sophia (10/5): Come as a stranger - leave as a friend! - I had the best time at the hostel. I intended to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying 10 days - i guess that says it all. Kiban and the volunteers are just amazing and they really make your stay unforgetable. Muchas gracias amigos <3 The kitchen in the hostel is really spacious and well equipped. The AC in the room is a lifesaver and there is plenty of space to put your things. The atmosphere in the hostel was great and when they finish their new commen chill area I am sure it will be even better. I will definitely come back! Everything was perfect. But in case you have a light sleep, bring earplugs - parties at Arriba Bar may get a bit loud. But no problem with earplugs and you should attend the parties anyways :P

It is really close to the beach, it's comfortable and the kitchen has all the essential tools. It is safe, there is a supermarket, a restaurant and also good restaurants nearby. It is a place to have fun, sleep and walk around Sámara.

• Saskia (7/5): Great hostel for staying in Samara - loved the location as it’s close to beach and downtown. my bed was very comfortable and the showers were ok. I liked the common area as it was good for a movie night. I didn’t like the kitchen, no counter space and no fan so almost impractical for cooking meals as a hostel. I didn’t like how loud it was when staff had parties with guests. finally, when I tried checked in the staff was gone to watch the sunset so I was delayed checking in for 2 hours which you can’t exactly do as a business

I’d booked the hostel because the reviews said it was social / party hostel but I did - the location is great and the bedrooms are nice and spacious the kitchen wasn’t really kept clean and there was no outside area to chill. the beads were ridiculously squeaky. you couldn’t move without them making the most irritating noise.

• Eef (5/5): Basic hostel with good airco and friendly staff. Not hygienic - Perfect location, friendly staff, good airconditioning in dorms which are big enough. Good kitchen and enough fridges. WiFi is most of the time not working. Bathroom was not clean. Mold on the bathroom ceiling. There was no lid on the toilet tank. Toilet hasn't been cleaned for ages when I arrived. Room smells bad and curtains definitely need to be washed because I could smell them from my bed. Only on the last day, the room was cleaned. Would have been at least nice if they would explain the cleaning schedule. They only clean it 'extra' if you ask for it.

I went there to stay some days and I ended up being there for 3 weeks! :) - Location was amazing, very close to the beach and everything you need (bars, supermarkets, etc) - The atmosphere is great, it is a party hostel and one has to know what to expect. If you wanna meet people and enjoy the party, this is your hostel - Kiban and his family are amazing hosts, very helpful and pay attention to the guests and their needs The only things I didn´t like is that the hostel doesn´t really have an "outdoor" area, which in such a weather would be amazing instead of hanging out inside The kitchen was quite messy (mostly not the hostel´s fault but the people being very careless) and it would definetly be nice to find a better system for the food
• Pauline (7/5): party hostel that runs toward a younger crowd - great location, nice staff it’s a very young party hostel, which wasn’t what I was looking for (but it’s great if you are). it’s next to a nightclub so there’s a lot of noise on weekends. no outdoor space.

Kitchen sink, table and full bathroom in room. A/C worked fine. Safety: Very safe. Common areas: Comfy couches, large screen TV in the main area. there are other smaller common areas throughout the hostel. It can get loud when the disco in front booms till early morning. bring your earplugs and you’ll be fine…. or join the party !!
• Autumn (7/5): Good - Front desk staff was amazing. We had a hiccup during check in and they helped us in the best way they could all with great vibe Bathroom could have been better. There was a Crack in the door that allowed one of the beds to see you on the toilet. We had an unpleasant experience with Kiban (the owner) he can out aggressive and rude
• Shyla (3/5): Unbearably loud. - The location is convenient. Close to the beach, stores, restaurants. If you want a party place to stay where you never get quite time, this is your spot. LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. 24/7. No quite time, ever. The shower leaked into the room constantly. Management knew, but it was never fixed. Toilet clogged and management blamed the guests while fixing it. One guest was up puking at 4 am in multiple bathrooms after getting food poisoning from the bar next door. Other guests would party outside of the room until "quiet time" at 11, but then move to the bar next door where the bass was so loud you could hear it with ear plugs in. Samara is beautiful but if you want to sleep during your stay, stay somewhere else.

• Caroline (7/5): Nice hostel for good value in Samara - The room are very spacious and the AC is working all day. The location is perfect in the center of Samara. They provide towel for a deposit which is very nice. The common kitchen is very humid and hot, not very clean. Also the beds were a bit to hard and the door was not closing fully.
