- Lisa (8/5): - We were supposed to get pastries or continental breakfast, we only got coffee. The area around the property was very run down. Everything was closed down and felt desolate and depressed. The owner was kind but we didn’t meet him until right when we were leaving.

I would have liked to be able to open my room’s window but was sealed shut in order to hold an air conditioner, the output of which was pretty feeble. The front-desk person was very nice and hospitable and she had a large restaurant-style pot of hot coffee ready before 6:00am, which I greatly appreciated as I departed early.

- Donna (8/5): Pet fee too expensive. - I have been staying with my little miniature schnauzer at the hotel, for eight years now. I have always felt safe and comfortable there, even with having to use a shared bathroom and shower. The staff is friendly and I always sleep very well. Unfortunately, I will not be staying at the hotel any longer, as the pet fee at $35 has become too exorbitant for me to afford, on a fixed income.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean with comfortable bed and wonderful towels. It is small, but it was built for another time. We had a good meal across the street at Roy Rogers and a good sleep. We left by 7:30 and we had to ask for some half and half for coffee (powdered creamers available- yuck). Overall, a fine place for an overnight.

- Angela (10/5): - This hotel is exactly as described. It is a very old hotel with lovely quirks. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a unique experience with an open mind and love antiques, the hotel is wonderful. The bed was comfortable. The town really has nothing to do and the only food is across the street at the bar. The food was good and reasonably priced. The only complaint is that for a VERY small town, there is a lot of noise on main street and mufflers are optional. While the hotel has no control over this, we have opted for other options if we pass this way again.

Terry, Montana is a charming tiny town. The pricing is excellent, although I do feel that the pet fee of $35 is much higher than most places.

If you enjoy a nostalgic stay in a historical building with it's old time feel, come here. The rooms and beds were comfortable. The decor was cute and appropriate for the old building. It was a fantastic stay in a friendly place with the unique traits of an old building. I will go back again the next time we head that way.

- LORI (2/5): - The room we stayed in was disgusting. The wall paper had water stains everywhere. The ceiling was falling down in the second room. Plugs were over the limit making the lights flicker. The train keeps you awake constantly. I’m pretty sure it would not pass safety inspection. The photos on the website are NOT what the hotel looks like. Very expensive for a hazardous dump.

- Kate (10/5): - This hotel is more of a museum than a hotel. The collection of old pictures on the wall, old wall paper, vintage furniture etc is a delight. And the owners are friendly and the coffee strong. What more could you ask for. And don’t miss the Cameron Museum 2 blocks away.

- Nicole (8/5): Quaint, clean, and inviting - The people are so friendly! Quaint, clean, inviting spaces. Very historic! I stayed in a room that had not yet been "remodeled", although many rooms have been. However I loved the historic and antique nature of it with the in-room sink. It was very clean and comfortable, but there was some peeling wallpaper/paint on the wall under the window. The AC unit in the window struggled to keep the room cool, but it was almost 99 degrees that day and barely cooled below 75 overnight. I still was able to sleep well with just the sheet. Other than that, the room was spotless with a multitude of personal touches and amenities! WiFi worked well. Took a walk around town and felt safe, little traffic, very quiet. Coffee in the morning was excellent before I hit the road again. Talked with the owner for 10 minutes, and fell in love with the place. I will be back to this quiet, sleepy town when I come this way again!

- Barbara (6/5): Nice place for a rest. - The Kempton Hotel is in a building that is well over 100 years old; very unique, creaky floors, really cool looking. The drawback, if it's considered, is that the bathroom is down the hall, and the shower as well. There is a sink in the room. Think old-time Western movie hotel. Looked really cool, and the bed was comfortable. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean. You can hear everything that goes on in the hall. We were looking for a place to rest on our long trip, and this did serve that purpose. The front-desk lady did say that they are in the process of remodeling, but with a building that old, don't look for them to be putting bathrooms in each room. Would I stay there again? The answer is yes, for an overnight stay it is just fine.

- David (10/5): Get out of the Rain - Was in Miles City camping for the Horse races and a thunderstorm put a damper in my plans to pitch a tent. Found this place to get out of the rain and wind. Lot of history in this cute place. I am planning on bring my wife next year and staying here for my whole stay.

The hotel had many open, nice rooms, but we were given a room that had water damaged ceiling with ceiling parts hanging down, water damaged, discolored wall paper, not clean.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Stepping back in time. - I really liked our stay because i liked the idea of staying in a place with old original fixtures. Hotels.com could have described the rooms and amenities better. We had a room with shared bathroom. This may not sit well with some people who are more picky.
- Donna (10/5): Hidden gem - I have been staying at the Kempton for several years now. As a single, older woman, I have always felt safe and comfortable. The hotel is so charming, decorated in old western motif. I was a little taken back this trip, when I found out the pet fee had been raised to $35, which is about half of what the room costs. I understand that some people can ruin it for others and this won’t stop me from staying there.

- JOHN (10/5): - I am rating this place 5 stars because it was exactly what we needed. Inexpensive, convenient, comfortable, friendly staff and owner. It is a historic property with plenty of old history to look at. It is not a high end luxury place by any means. If you are looking for that keep looking. Don’t book this place and expect to get luxury at this reasonable cost. You get what you pay for! I will definitely stay here again. Like I said exactly what I was looking for! Oh, and incredibly good food across the street. Just a great little town. Reminded me of where I grew up.
- Todd (8/5): - This is a historic hotel over 120 years old. The hotel is mostly original with some updates in the bathroom. Since it is older the room size was naturally smaller than today’s standard. I enjoyed the antiques and antique furniture in the rooms and it reminded me of times got by. I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the hotel for its historic value.

- Verified traveler (6/5): An old hotel with atmosphere - We had a good stay at the Kempton. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ambiance of hotel was good with homey touches and western decor (saddles). Hotel dates to 1912 and the contrast to the basic modern hotels is comforting. I would stay there again if in the area. Having said all that, the hotel is showing its age. The roof was recently fixed so now maybe they can fix the ceiling that was shedding its paint in several spots (there were big paint flakes on the floor and several areas of denuded ceiling). We had a wasp and 2 mesquitos in the room and ran the air conditioner continuously to cool and aerate the room. Our bathroom was next door and very convenient. Room was small but serviceable and prices were very reasonable. Hopefully they can catch up on property appeal.

Of course, it had been upgraded to include a modern bathroom and internet access, but we loved the vibe. It made you feel like you were there in the old West in the early 1900’s. - jory (10/5): - I drive across the country often and this is the best hotel I've stayed in. It's clean, convenient location, wonderful staff, and the best atmosphere.
- SUSAN (4/5): - This hotel is an historic building and the history has not been erased. It is quirky for sure. But it is not a particularly comfortable place to stay as you might expect from a facility that has not been updated in many years.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Fun Stay - Wish we would have had more time. So much to look at in the hotel. Loved being able to see some of the other rooms and all of the rodeo/horse related items. Enjoyed the porch.

- Daniel (8/5): - Just sort of a ho-hum greeting. I felt like I’d interrupted her dinner. The plac makes up for it because it is so unique. You sort of feel like it could have been used as an old cowboy movie.
- Donna (10/5): Back To The Good Old Days! - I have found my new overnight stopping place, for the many trips I make to and from Montana. What an adorable, safe, quiet and comfy place to stay and the price was more than fair. The sweet lady that checked us in, stayed up until 10:30 at night for our arrival. I highly recommend the Kempton!
