- Graham (9/5): An excellent and comfy place to stay in Kumamoto - A lovely warm welcome. The lounge was great. The floral arrangements throughout were lovely and fresh. The park nearby is well worth a relaxing walk. Trams into the centre were easy to find and use. Recommended. The family onsens were small, even for two adults.

- Nick (9/5): A great experience where luxury meets tradition! - A very nice luxury + ryokan traditional feel. Service was excellent. We felt like VIPs from the moment we parked our car. Room was nice and quiet. Getting the passes to go to their affiliated luxury spa and sauna across the road was a bonus. There is one public bath and made available to men and women at different times. This means we had to plan our itinerary according to the timing and can’t onsen at the same time. The private bath is only available after 4pm, which I have provided my feedback for them to consider making it available in the morning too.

- Kate (10/5): Perfect place to stay on Kumamoto if you seek high quality experience and service. We will always return here - The hotel is wonderfully appointed as the thoughtful amenities, beautiful food, and comfortable beds. The location next to Suizenji garden is optimal. Most importantly, the staff is incredibly helpful. They were instrumental in helping us to ship oversized packages to our next destination. We are eternally grateful for their problem solving and commitment to service. There is nothing to say here.

- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Chrischeri (10/5): Beautiful hotel in green neighborhood with great connection to downtown - The hotel is right be the Suizenji park and the associated trails along the river. It's very peaceful and beautiful. Good for birdwatching. It's also right near the tram into the center of the city right up to the castle stop (Y180 flat rate) which is really convenient and cheap. The hotel itself is really well appointed and has 2 private and 1 public onsen which was really nice.
- Jo (9/5): Superb - Beautifull traditional room, right next to the garden we wanted to visit.
Staff is very friendly and there is parking on site.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful staff, great service, lovely onsen/bath area, lovely hotel, highly recommend. - We made a mistake on our arrival date, the staff were wonderful, found rooms for us with no fuss and then helped with dinner booking at nearby restaurant. The private onsen was great and the rooms were very clean and spacious.
I would highly reccomend. Nothing to highlight.
- Chantana (7/5): Good - Nice & helpful staff.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Markus (8/5): Very good -
- Alice (8/5): Comfortable - It’s located at the beautiful park. Drive to reach is better than public transportation. The staffs were very nice.
- Siqin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): The place was great for its value. - The onsen water was very smooth! The fact that the public onsen had to switch between men and women so I could not go for onsen at times I wanted.
- Amanda (9/5): Elegant Japan - The ryokan is great - luxury and tradition in one. It is near Suizenji Park and guests get free admission. That was a highlight. It is quite far from anything other than Suizenji though - too far with luggage from tram stop, and very few dining options close by.
It was not possible to have dinner at the ryokan unless pre-booked. This would probably have been best.
- Moymoypig (10/5): Excellent hotel - 1. great staff, excellent customer service, exceeded our expectations everything is great
- Cher (8/5): Very good -
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (9/5): Superb - The rooms were very comfortable and the facilities were excellent. The onsen was fantastic! Best of all, the service given to us by all of the hotel staff was superb!
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is very elegant and the rooms are very comfortable. More importantly, the hotel staff were very helpful and kind. Our experience was wonderful!
- Elise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (9/5): Friendly service - Hotel room is spacious. good check in service. hotel staff is very helpful, taking extra step to help me on locating lost item on JR train.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazingly cozy place for family holiday - A super cozy place for family. Love the layout. My family rated this property as the most cozy place throughout our 12 days trip in Kyushu.
- verenel2016 (10/5): Best meal I have had this trip - After a 2.5 weeks trip, I can now say that this was by far the best hotel I have been in, and the best meal. The location (5 minutes from the superb garden I wanted to see, plus as a hotel guest you get in for free) is great. The air con was perfect, not too intrusive yet during the heat wave it felt just right. And the food! With a view from the roof tops as you feast. The staff was also lovely and friendly, the bathroom kitted out with all the mod cons a westerner would like. I cannot recommend it enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very High Standard Hotel in town - Very nice hotel in the area. Clean, service was great. Rooms are large enough. Bathroom was ok big enough for westerners as well.
They do have public bath and also can arrange family bath in separate room without additional fee. 7-11 just next to the hotel. Very nice .
- patriciawong1027 (8/5): very attentive staff - We are particularly impressed by the breakfast included in our room rate both becauae of the spread of food items and the very hospitable staff whose smile make this place so impressive. The hotel is also very convenient.
- JasperL256 (10/5): Out of this world kindness, integrity, and effort to do the best for the guests. - I'm from Hong Kong, and my family and I were going on a road trip all over Japan. We happened to stay 1 night in this hotel. The next day, I realised I had left an item extremely precious to me and my family at the hotel, so I immediately wrote them an email asking them if they had it. Turns out, they did have it, and (I'm quoting them here), "because this item is so special to you, we will ship it to your flat in Hong Kong for free". I was amazed at the hotel's kindness, and thanked them profusely for their service and help. I recommend this hotel to anyone reading this review if you are looking for great customer service and a cosy room for the night. They even have an onsen!
- Jamuojisan (10/5): The great stay in Kumamoto.
The size of the hotel is not that much huge but the size of the room is large enough to stay 2 adults + 2 kids. Breakfast and dinner here were great in Japanese style not available with western style. Recommend you to have dinner here one time. There is Suizenji Park which is traditional Japanese park suitable for a walk in the morning but there is admission fee about 2dollar.If you have a baggage, we recommend a taxi to visit the hotel. It is approximately 10 to 15 minutes from Kumamoto Station or Kumamoto Castle. The fare seems to be about 1500 yen roughly which is about 15dollars. If you want spend classical Japanese culture in Kumamoto, this is the place.
- WilsonC2066 (4/5): Terrible and over charge - Is unbelievable hot spring hotel is like that !
This is the famous hot spring area in Japan ! But inside this hotel public hot spring area is super small which size just a bit biggest than Spa house only. I can’t believe if the hotel full house how to serve the guess !
Second stupid thing is Only ONE public hot spring area. That’s mean if the schedule is man time, Woman pls wait for few hours later. That who can go after schedule change to woman.
Third thing is , I’m wonder this is real hot spring nor? Normally in Japan, real hot spring water have government certification labelling or notice post on the hot spring entrance area, but here I didn’t found .
Another issue is over price, one night charge me over 34,000 Yen for 3 person but not including of dinner and breakfast !
On the other hand, The staff English communication is poor also.
Base on above condition, I’m not recommend to here.
Lobby bar is close at 10pm ! Is one of the terrible thing !
- Ann (10/5): Excellent room and helpful staff - We chose this hotel as it was near the park. The staff were efficient and very helpful. They have us tea and sweets on arrival before showing us to our room. The western style twin beds were clean and comfortable apart from the normal Japanese hard pillows. The legless chairs with cushions were set on a tatami platform and it overlooked a residential area & trees. The shower room was clean and well appointed. As usual there was little room for suitcases except in the corridor by the tea making facilities (no coffee). We did not have a meal there as we arrived late and chose not to have breakfast as we were tired of Japanese breakfasts after 3 weeks of them.
- tommy755 (10/5): Excellent service hotel - Room was very comfortable and clean. They will let you sit down and have a snack & green tea before you check-in.
We have incrediable experience in this hotel. My wife was missing a coat at hotel but we already back to Hong kong. Finally, they courier the coat to Hong Kong without any charge. My wife was so surprise and happy with their excellent services.
We will back to this hotel again in the future!
- Enjoydifference (10/5): Beautiful, modern but also comes with traditional Japanese service - The owner renovated this Ryokan recently to have modern and tradition in one. The entrance and rooms are all very modern but their service is traditional Ryokan style. Their breakfast was like Kaiseki dinner served using beautiful plates. Amazing flower arrangements all over the hotel. It is very close to the famous Suizenji Park, too.
