From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. The photos definitely didn’t do it justice. There wasn’t many restaurants close to the property but this could just have been the time of year we were there as there seemed to be quite a few of paces that were still closed.

The swimming pool was dirty and we decided not to use it - which was a shame as we had young children with us who wanted to get in. There were groups staying there who were eating and drinking in the swimming pool as well.

Very comfortable beds and the TV had movies installed which kept the kids happy during downtime! The sea around the resort was rough so couldn't swim in it but it was good for body boarding. The restaurant is slightly overpriced compared to nearby places.

Zwembad niet in geweest vond dat niet echt bijzonder eruit zien maar zaten genoeg mensen in dus misschien wel heel lekker om in te zwemmen. Dorpje is erg rustig dus verwacht niet dat je lekker kan shoppen maar wel leuk om te wandelen . Weinig ligbedden op het strand en bij het zwembad

- Gerrit Matthias (5/5): - Het was een mooie locatie in Juara. Heel rustig strandje. Je kon leuke snorkel trips boeken bij dit resort, dat was leuk! Wij vonden de kamers niet schoon. De badkamer was nog nat toen we aankwamen. Schimmel op de spiegels 😳Vlekken in de handdoeken en ook vlekken op het bed. Het personeel was niet vriendelijk, kwam amper een lach vanaf. Ze hebben in de buurt ongeveer 3 restaurants, waaronder deze bij het resort. Wij vonden dat je veel meer uit dit restaurant kon halen dan wat er was! Beetje jammer dus! De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding klopt niet. Voor deze prijs hadden wij liever ergens anders gezeten.

- Elianne (8/5): Good value stay - We enjoyed our stay at the Barat, and thought it was good value for money. We stayed in a family room, it was clean and comfortable apart from a few ants running around. It was great to have a pool, but the pool needs a bit of maintenance as there are tiles coming off and the sides look like they could do with a clean. We used the sun loungers around the pool which are a bit hard but there seemed to be enough of them as the pool was never over busy. The restaurant had a good menu with a wide choice of meals to cater for most tastes including western options. We also walked out to a lovely local restaurant for several dinners, Almond Beach. Overall a nice place to spend a few days.

Tioman island is beautiful and the property enjoys a great stretch of the beach. Having said that, the value proportion for the price you’re paying is not there. 1) The rooms are over priced, but the amenities like valley ball, ping pong, kayaks etc make the property enjoy a monopoly. 2) Completely avoid the massage - over priced as the professionals are not trained. It was random with respect to technique, i went with my partner. The lady doing my message was not trained, while she was well behaved and trying her best you can see the staff is really not trained but they’re super quick to charge premium without value proposition. My body hurt not due to pressure but die to pulling and tugging. My partners masseur was constantly burping, laughing and passing comments. There was tea in the end that was not even offered just because we booked last slot. 3) Snorkelling: locals were nice, snorkelling was fun but COMPLETELY unethical. Fish were being fed a lot of nuggets and food for them to fight and compete for it, so you may feel accomplished but that’s not cool as it is not a sustainable way for marine. A guy from my boat put a fish nugget on my skin for 5 seconds - i was confused and it led to the fish biting me and my skin breaking out with some blood coming out. Will Barat take responsibility if i catch an infection? I complained to the person at the recreation centre who was understanding by the face of it but I absolutely never heard back. It hurts to see such lack of consent, immature behaviour that they don’t take accountability for since i was told by “Yan” that person is not from barat but a local person. They are sitting in a BARAT 3 boat as a coach and they’re present for us when i book through BARAT. Will such a place take responsibility should an emergency situation arise? NO. So even if you tell them during trip they will not fix anything. Mentioned above

- Steve Piraino (4/5): Not worth the money and time to get there - The beach is nice, clean and kids friendly. The snorkeling tour was great. Food is fair. I paid 220$ / night for seafront villa which is just a room with 2 beds and a terrasse. For this price, anywhere in south east asia, you get some good level of service. The resort is old and probably never been maintain since its opening. Very basic room. Cold or burning hot shower, power cut, zero internet except sometime sluggish one in the restaurant. Cleaning and towels are randomly done. They very rarely have beach towels available. Room is in front of the only road and recreation center, which is very noisy with motorbikes, pickup trucks, tour departure, and offer zero privacy. Overall, bad experience, I do not recommend. If you get a room for 20$ maybe its ok but there is hundreds of better place out there between Thailand, Vietnam and Philippine.

I originally booked a Superior Room, but the staff kindly upgraded me to a Deluxe Room. All the facilities were excellent. You can rent bicycles and e-bikes, there are swings, and many recreational activities can be enjoyed here. Will definitely be back! no breakfast included

The reception staff upgraded us on arrival, Sharif and the maintenance team helped out with any questions we had and the boat trip crew that took us snorkelling were great. The on site restaurant was not the best for food and was higher prices than others in the area

- Marco G. (8/5): - La posizione è ottima, stanza carina anche se semplice. C'erano diverse cose migliorabili ma questo accade ovunque. A mio parere i veri difetti della struttura risiedono nel ristorante ( qualità bassa e prezzi alti). Basterebbe molto poco tant'è che abbiamo pranzato appena arrivati e poi, per tutto il soggiorno, siamo andati a fare colazione e cena nel resort attiguo.

Le levé de soleil !🌴 Les équipements ...table, chaise longue dans un état déplorable ! Les tarifs des plats ..et la qualité pas exceptionnelle... ! Mais possibilité de de resto sympa autour ! Établissement qui date ...style hotel de jeunes americains des annees 80 ! beaucoup de fourmies dans la chambre !

Disappointing check-in/out from unfriendly reception. - Great location towards end of beach/town, close to turtle sanctuary and right in front of nice beach. Inside room well furnished and clean. From outside doesn't look great. Very quiet village/kampung, local life going on all around, a lot of nice local places to eat and try out local cuisine. Well equipped recreation facilities on the beach with lots to do. Scooter rental place at resort entrance worthwhile (great way to get around and to explore the road that crosses the island linking Juara to Tekek). Unfriendly, unhappy, low energy reception staff greeting guests on arrival - doesn't make guests feel welcome, no smile, just a very unfriendly check in and check out process. Very disappointing experience. Made me wish I'd chosen the resort next door instead! Messy reception area with files and papers and staff snacks/food/drinks everywhere. Overall property poorly maintained. Swimming pool heavily over-chlorinated and run down.

- Camerino (4/5): bruyant et pas reposant ! dommage - la plage la chambre avec vue mer... donnait sur une tour de massage, des motos et des voitures à coté de notre logement qui faisait sans cesse du bruit, du personnel qui regardait dans nos chambres et des tractopelles qui déchargeaient des marchandises pendant 2 nuits (sur 4) de 2 à 7h du matin !!!! Je suis extrement mécontente du prix payé par rapport aux prestations !!!
- GARAVAGLIA (8/5): - La posizione di fronte alla spiaggia di juara ,molto bella, adatta al diving , meno allo snorkeling. Ci sono ristoranti e resort nei dintorni, spiaggia grande con pochissime persone Tutto perfetto in loco ma un po' isolato dal resto dell'isola (zona Tekek raggiungibile con motorino su strada con parecchia pendenza, ma fattibile )oppure tramite trasporto taxi locale...la zona di Tekek é più adatta allo snorkeling , comunque dal resort partono gite in barca per i vari punti dell'isola ed per immersioni. Il bagno non ha una tenda per la doccia e quindi si allaga un po'.
- Dabier (1/5): - Nothing. Terrible place. Pictures are deceiving. This is a backpackers lodge. The resort isn’t a resort. All the pictures you see online must be from the time the property was built. Chairs broken, dirt all around. Our toilet was not flushing. Swimming pool wasn’t clean.
- Burberry (4/5): - The frequent power trip was a major turn off and the wifi connectivity was almost non existent. The pricing for the room was a bit overpriced as well as there were many other cheaper options within that area. On the brightside the staff were friendly and accomdating.
- Elena (10/5): - Traumhafter Strand, tolle Lage, sehr gute Zimmer mit Terrasse, 50 m zum Strand vom Chalet. Pool, Tischtennis, Volleyballplatz und viel Erholung. Unbedingt Schnorchelausflug machen. Links vom Hotel kann man auch Schnorcheln. Uns hat alles gefallen.

- Colin (10/5): Amazing place to stay for peace, quiet and great snorkelling from the beach - The food at the hotel restaurant was great and having lived in Malaysia we were taken back to some of our favourite dishes. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

- Anissa (10/5): Bien - Le gentillesse du personnel ! Vraiment ils sont adorables. Mes enfants ont été malades et ils ont changés les draps deux jours de suites sans rien dire . Ils sont ponctuels aussi enfin bref le Barat est l’hôtel dans lequel il faut séjourner si ont vient séjourner de ce côté de l’île . -La propreté sous les lits dans les chambres n’est pas top. -Les wc communs dans le restaurant pas toujours au top non plus mais ils font de leur mieux . - dans la chambre familiale les lits superposés grincent et les barrières de sécurité ne sont pas très solides !

- Serena (7/5): - La struttura ha acconsentito ad accorciare un soggiorno di 6 notti che avevo prenotato addebitandomi solo una notte anziché l’intero importo, pur avendo il diritto di farlo. Il ristorante era discreto e il personale è stato sempre molto cortese e disponibile. La struttura è molto grande e forse per questo un po’ caotica. In camera la pulizia non era eccellente, nel bagno, per esempio, c’erano dei bicchieri che avevano un cattivissimo odore e il tragitto per arrivare alla camera attraversava una parte dell’hotel con un odore molto sgradevole. Probabilmente a causa della presenza di un grande generatore vi era sempre un rumore molto forte proveniente dalla struttura che si estendeva anche alla spiaggia. La struttura accoglieva grandi gruppi. Non so se è una prassi o è capitato solo quando abbiamo soggiornato noi.
