Guest Reviews
- Edward (9/5): - The attention to detail was excellent - I left very early in the morning and they provided a superb breakfast in the room fridge
- Carol (10/5): Fantastic standard of accommodation and service. Couldn’t fault it. - Everything! Great rooms, service, breakfast Nothing
- Michelle (9/5): A lovely break in a charming property - Friendly team of staff, very comfortable room. Loved all the bear details. Food very nice. Food and drink slightly on the more expensive side. Whilst the room was on the whole clean some areas could have been cleaner. Dust on curtains and towel rail very dusty but did not effect our stay and we would return.
- Melanie (6/5): Good - Room Staff on arrival
- kevin (10/5): -
- Halcyon (5/5): Friendly staff, good full English breakfast and convenient for visiting many places. - The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was very good as we needed to be either side of The Bear for family. The peacefulness of the area. Car parking was easy and accessible. Staying for 9 nights, having to carry suitcases up and down a narrow staircase. If you didn’t get down for breakfast in the first hour, fruit, pastries etc were not replenished. Dogs being fed at the tables, being stroked by the staff who didn’t wash their hands afterwards and in one case a dog being allowed to put his paws up on the bar!! Surprisingly, I am a dog lover.
- Aileen (9/5): Excellent accommodation with delicious food - Amazing food. Great wine list. Lovely bathroom. Friendly efficient staff. Great location. Really comfortable bed. Fresh milk and water provided in the fridge. Will definitely return. Inadequate housekeeping for our 2nd night. Hairdryers ( tried 2 ) didn’t work.
- Helen (9/5): -
- Dutch Boy (10/5): Goldilocks loved the bear and so did we. - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bear of Burton. Great staff, friendly and attentive. Excellent food and a very good selection at breakfast. We usually stay in Bournemouth itself but the area is much nicer and because of the position we found it much easier to travel to new parts of the area. Nothing springs to mind.
- Sheila (9/5): Excellent - We really loved the Bear. The quirkiness of the room with bear touches. The breakfast was lovely. Staff very helpful. Nothing to add
- Nicole (9/5): - Room was large and had a dog feeding area which was great No shower cap provided
- Adrian (8/5): Lovely quirky place to stay & helpful staff - Good access to Christchurch & plenty
of parking
Breakfast choice really good too Maybe the low beams but all were
padded ok for safety & if you wanted
to walk into town a bit of a hike
- Louise (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): A visit to see our son in a perfect location. We enjoyed the food both breakfast and dinner and always received great se - We loved the location it was perfect for our needs.
- Honey (4/5): -
- Nephilim373 (10/5): Excellent excellent stay - Absolutely amazing place Nothing to note at all
- barbara (9/5): - The staff were amazing. The rooms were lovely. The pub was great, spacious, great atmosphere. It's too far to walk into Christchurch.
Wider range of veggie food would have been good.
- Tony (9/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Lots to like. Well designed throughout with lots of quirky details. Comfy bed. Lovely smellies in bathroom and complimentary teas in room. Breakfast was really yum. Bathroom fan was a bit noisy during the night for me although Im a light sleeper.
- Jacqueline (7/5): - Staff The place would do with a good clean.
The mattress on the bed was too hard.
- Michelle (8/5): Delightful place, atmosphere and people - The little details - complimentary drink, shortbread biscuits, loads of different teas, lovely toiletries, cute odes to bears everywhere. The care, friendly, warmth and professionalism of the brilliant team (special shout out to Alessia!!), being a solo traveller it makes a huuuuge difference to feeling not only safe and comfy, but relaxed and welcome. Also delicious breakfast !!! And the bath in my room (Goldilocks) was amazing :) Could have been a bit cleaner through the pub, and the mattress is due a replacement but otherwise no issues!
- Julian (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Friendly staff. Nice building. Peaceful. Free parking
- Diddams (9/5): Bear of Burton - Lovely pub/hotel. Tasty dinner and breakfast.
- Alan (8/5): -
- Melanie (9/5): -
- Vicki (7/5): No where to exercise dogs no dog bins - Reasonable
Nobody told us about the buffet on the bar until the 2nd day Room was very small for us with 2 labradors
- Kira (10/5): All round best place to come and stay at - with the added bonus of amazing food and friendly staff - All round one of the best places we have stayed at.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming - the room was lovely and clean.
The food here was amazing too and breakfast was a
massive bonus.
Location was great - nice and quiet and peaceful.
We will definitely be back!!
- Alison (9/5): - The decor in the bedroom. Good quality toiletries. Coffee maker. Hanging space. View. Food locally sourced When we arrived there must have been about 30 dirty glasses on the bar waiting to be washed up. Theybwere still there 2 hrs later at 7
- Amanda (6/5): -
- diane (8/5): Very pleasant and comfortable stay. - Very comfortable stay. Breakfast was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking at all times. More sofas for staying guests to relax on after dinner.
- john (10/5): Brilliant - The staff were brilliant from the moment we arrived. They were friendly and happy to help us with whatever we asked for.
- Simon (10/5): -
- Charles (9/5): Fantastic short-break hotel. - Great location, easy walking distance of Mudeford Quay and the local beach. Well-furnished, comfortable, and quiet rooms. Plentiful parking. Great food, both for the included breakfast and in the evening restaurant. All the staff were attentive, kind, and happy to help.
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely place to stay, would recommend - Very clean and lovely room, big comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff and a nice breakfast.
- Sarah (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Nice setting with plenty of outdoor seating, great breakfast, lovely staff, comfortable clean quiet bedrooms, power shower, plenty of parking. Nothing.
- Steve (8/5): Lovely staff, good food and comfortable . Would go again - First day breakfast was excellent with few guests. Second day breakfast not as good as the restaurant was busier . Had to request buffet items and portions were smaller Table in bedroom was very wobbly so couldn't put drinks on it
- TAMMY (6/5): The Good and The Bad - Staff making an effort to be cordial, welcoming and efficient. Dust. Dusty plastic plants. Cobwebs between desk and wall in the suite I stayed. 'Antique' furniture Not 'finished' (sanded and polished). Looked dirty and dusty as if taken directly from a junk yard. Carpet stained in areas.
Mirrors, bathroom fixtures and floor were all spotless. Pictures on walls appeared cleaned. Bed was very comfortable and looked and felt, clean.
Initial room I booked was a mess. Good amount of dust on full length mirror and bed was unmade. I could have wept. In response, staff offered myself and friend a complimentary drink and offered us an impressive room upgrade for no extra charge.
Appreciated the female member of staff who cheerfully lugged my very heavy suitcase down 3 flights of stairs and the male member of staff who carried my suitcase to the replacement room, the same distance.
Personally, I did not enjoy the cooked breakfast option I ordered although the presentation was good and staff were keen to please.
Would I return? - for the replacement suite granted ('Ferndown'), a very firm/optimistic, 'possibly' heading towards 'yes'.
- Julie (10/5): - Firstly, what a lovely property! Set in a quiet road.
Only one hour from Pooles port, close to most of the large supermarkets.
A very warm welcome and a lovely bedroom, well soundproofed, very comfortable and decorated beautifully.
We had dinner at the Bear, excellent food, great staff.
Breakfast was delicious!
We will be staying here again, perfect for people travelling back to Guernsey the next day, or for a longer stay.
Thank you N/A

- Natalie (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Ben (8/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): - Welcoming hotel, friendly staff, comfortable and clean room, delicious food, room had air con and a Dyson fan Nothing
- sarah (8/5): -
- Joe (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Great short break - would recommend - Hotel great, breakfast fabulous Could have been more comfy seating in the bar area to use in the evening
- Martina (9/5): -
- Allan (10/5): Warm and friendly staff, very comfortable bedroom - Breakfast was excellent every morning we were there, lots of choice and well presented, it was also very fresh, they even asked if they could bring a sausage for the dog, which was a lovely touch. One of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and a huge walk in shower. We certainly will be recommending this hotel. They put us in a dog friendly room, and I have to say the standard we very high, they even have blankets for your dog to lye on in the restaurant/ bar area We couldn't fault it, it exceeded our expectations
- Mathew (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): We felt welcomed and at home in a lovely setting. - Great location, the family room was spacious and great decor. The staff were friendly and showed us to the room, explaining about the air con and when breakfast was etc. Breakfast was delicious! We liked everything!!
- lynne (10/5): -
- simon (8/5): Very enjoyable - The food was very good. The large double bed is just a double bed unfortunately.
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely stay, lovely breakfast and good value - The staff were so friendly and very attentive
- Demetriou (10/5): - The suite that I booked for 1 night was really spacious with nice decor. The bathroom and shower room was very large with a good shower. The breakfast and evening meal were good value for money The pressure on the ensuite basin tap was poor and the hot water when running the bath wasn't very hot. However this would not put me off from booking again and I will definitely be returning.
- Michelle (10/5): A great location and fantastic breakfast choices. - It was in a quiet location an yet you could walk to Christchurch in about thirty minutes.
- tina (10/5): Perfect for our night away child free. - Really lovely location. We booked the suite called Uddens. Loved the decor and really deep bath.
We walked from there to Christchurch and Southbourne beach. We thought we would eat in Christchurch but liked the look of the menu at the Bear so ate there and were not disappointed.
Prices were reasonable and the breakfast was fantastic with a great choice.
We had shutters and curtains so the room was lovey and dark for sleeping and amazingly quiet.
Ample parking, friendly staff throughout our experience and we will definite return. Nothing to find fault with.
- Laurie (10/5): We have stayed her numerous times. Great rooms. Very comfortable and good and staff are superb - Location and its character Nothing
- Chris (10/5): lush stay - bedroom was very nicely decorated very clean and bed was soo comfy

ate in restaurant and that was amazing.
staff were absolutly fantastic too.
nothing was too much trouble.
would def revisit 20/10 one of the top hotels ive stayed in. very very minor as couldnt fault our stay
perhaps a dressing table would be a nice addition.
- mike (8/5): - Lovely food and goodrooms Booked as it said pet friendly but not all rooms and family room isn't!! They did upgrade us but we had to take a bed for our daughter, no refund was offered if we cancelled, ring to check otherwise bookings and the hotel will wiggle out under terms and conditions!!
- phil (8/5): -

Food was very tasty particularly the breakfast (good choice of options). Would recommend a stay here. All good.
- Carole (10/5): Welcoming comfortable stay - Staff friendly welcoming and helpful. Breakfast very good selection great coffee. Diner good also. Room comfy. Clean. Powerful shower and great amenities. Nothing

- Paul (9/5): -
- Keith (10/5): -
- Covey (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful location. Great staff, fabulous food 👍 Nothing
- ANDREW (8/5): Magnificent renovation. Friendly staff. Would stay again if elderly friendly. stay again if - Glad to see The Manor refurbished. We used to live in Burton Needs to be disability and elderly friendly. Not the staff they were great. A ground floor room as steps are steep. Bath rails.
- Read (9/5): Delightful stay in a country pub , great food , great service and great location - Location is excellent, close to Christchurch and Bournemouth but super peaceful. Team are super friendly and helpful. The chef is excellent, his breakfasts are the best .

- Michele (10/5): Comfortable & Welcoming Stay - Our room was so comfortable. Quiet. We had towels folded into bears. We loved the bears everywhere. We loved the toiletries, the en-suite. Delicious food in the restaurant - dinner & breakfast. The staff were friendly & accommodating. We will definitely stay again. It was so homely, such a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was to a high standard. Thank you to all who made us feel so very welcome. We couldn’t find anything to dislike.
- Fiona (10/5): Fabulous one night stay! Didn’t want to leave. - So clean.
Well appointed.
The chef was very friendly and personally handed out the breakfast.
Every member of staff was fabulous.
We would stay again.
The bath in the room, what a fantastic bath! Nothing.
- Pete Long (10/5): - The room facilities, the staff, particularly Boris, the ambience, the food, the decor - everything was great Nothing
- Jana (9/5): Would definitely stay again! - The boutique pub is a great place to unwind and at the same time due to its location gives you the opportunity to go for walks in the New Forest 🌳. The room we stayed in had everything you need (ie good coffee & tea selection, comfortable bed and is tastefully decorated ! Staff was exceptional - we could have not asked for more. Can’t think of anything…maybe offer bathrobes 😊
- Colin (9/5): Only there for two nights. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much for them. - A nice quiet area but only minutes away from town Room small
- Louise (10/5): -
- Geoff (8/5): Did the job - Enjoyed my stay It was good
- Jo (9/5): A ‘Bear-y’ pleasant stay at Burton - Great character and very well presented throughout. Plenty of parking. Food was really good and the facilities in the room were very generous. Nothing
- Kathy (10/5): Superb - The staff, the hotel the food the cleanliness the fantastic experience If it had been FREE 🤣🤣🤣
- Ralph (9/5): Overall a great stay, recommended - Spacious, clean, well presented. Friendly staff. Good food Room was a bit warm , bedding too warm
- Richard (9/5): Lovely location and property and staff to match - Front of house Boris was very accommodating to our needs throughout our stay. The Chef was super and checked ingredients against an allergy. He then cooked a super breakfast for us and our dog. The team was great We were set into a dog friendly room which was great by your staff. But upon arrival the invoices were separate with the supplement being additional? As you knew we were travelling and staying with our pet and you had made the accommodation change why was the bill not singular, at a cost. It wastes the guests time as well as the staffs and causes confusion. Mostly people don't mind the cost but it is far easier to do everything on a single invoice.
- Jane (8/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - Very comfortable room, great service and good food.
- Christine (9/5): - The person who checked me in was most welcoming and even showed me to my room and offered to carry my small case.
