Guest Reviews
- Paige (10/5): - Our cabin was great for 3 ladies enjoying a week away. Close to everything! Convenient! Clean! Quiet!
- Gwen (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Gwynn (10/5): - Been coming here for years. Always a great experience.
- David (8/5): - Nice place to stay. Would stay again. Just beware they charge $50 on pet fee's and their website clearly said $25 for cottages. No refund given for that. But other than that nice experience
- Jim (10/5): - My wife and I came here for our Honeymoon and after an initial miscommunication entirely on our end they were able to accommodate and salvage what could have been a very disappointing situation. They literally saved my Honeymoon and made my bride a very happy new wife indeed! 1 million stars...and a half
- Leah (10/5): - In a great location. We stayed in a cottage. Room was clean. Bathroom facilities were clean. The woman at the front desk (I think her name was Cassandra, but I could be wrong) was helpful and friendly.
Only downside is the cottages are super close together and the neighbors that came for the weekend took up two cottages and they were obnoxiously loud until midnight.
- Donnie (6/5): - Very nice property. The internet was out the whole week we were there.
- Pamela (4/5): - Did not like the fact that there are cockroaches. Talked to the gentleman at the front desk advising we were checking out early due to the cockroaches. He said they spend thousands of dollars every year but can not get rod of all of them. Also when we got there i tries to rent linens since they advertised on their website they have them for rent. We was able to get sheets, toewels and wash clothes but they did not have blankets. We had to go to the dollar store to buy blankets. Over all would not stay there again. They do not offer any type of refunds. I did purchase travel ins so hopefully i get some money back since i paid for to stay from Saturday to Saturday and left of tuesday. I had 2 people traveling with me that have been allgery tested and tested positive for allergy to cockroaches.
- Letha (10/5): The best lul peace of Heaven on earth - Always our favo spot
- Susannah (10/5): - Just love these little cabins! Affordable and all you need for the beach!
- Susan (8/5): - We stayed in the colorful cottages. It was surprisingly roomy.
- Samir (6/5): - Good location. Everything else is questionable, find better place.
- Jared (10/5): - Loved the little cottage we stayed in the only down side was the Internet issues.
- Rhonda (10/5): - Clean and well maintained property. The a/c was on and the cottage very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Genealee (8/5): Hatteras Island - The island is beautiful if you’re a breakfast person I wouldn’t suggest coming here cause nothing opens till 11 o’clock a lot don’t open till 234 and 5 o’clock and then they close at nine
- Selona Gale (8/5): - The entry into the cabins and circular driveway riddled with huge potholes and seriously needs to be addressed. Staff is awesome, room was clean, didnt use pool to many kids.
- Mollie (10/5): - I loved our cute cabin! It was lovely and so fun!
- Lanie (10/5): - I cannot say enough great things about this campground! The staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were incredibly clean. The cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved our stay and totally recommend Hatteras Sands!
- Trish (10/5): - This was our second stay at Hatteras Sands and I cannot praise this group enough. The cabins are camping cabins, no luxury cabins but comfortable none the less! We had an incredible experience from start to finish. Cassandra (I’m so sorry if I messed up your name!) was at the desk whenever we checked in, right as the car we were driving was breaking down. We had driven 420+ miles to get to Hatteras Village and I was nearly hysterical about being stranded. She went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe, secure and do my best to enjoy our vacation. The campground is well maintained and the community cannot be matched. If you stay, you’ve got to try Harbor House Seafood (shrimp boil!) and Dancing Turtle Coffee shop. The campground is within walking distance to the major attractions at Hatteras Village, so while we were unable to drive our car, we still could enjoy the OBX. Thank you all again!
- William (10/5): - Loved the corner cabin
- Susan (10/5): - Time and time again, our stay is always spectacular!
- ELLIOT WAYNE (10/5): - Great place to stay really enjoyed it.
- Maggie (8/5): - The staff were AWESOME! Camp was Clean!
1 We were supplied with 2 trash can liners can, Main & bathroom, we had to empty trash often(ants) Staff would have given more but we didn't ask, used our own sacks to run up to the dumpster a few times a day.
2. ANTS - I understand they are an issue, however it needs to be post or in the information. You CAN NOT leave anything in the room that ants can get into. Not even toothpaste. The ants got into everything. Our closed cooler couldnt even keep them out.
Please note these cabins are SMALL! would be great for 2 people but not 3 or 4!
However, Its very close to everything, very convient.
NOTE: YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING, TOWELS, WASHCLOTHS, FLOOR MATS ECT.
Nothing is offered, except 2 pillows. There is TP!!
There are 3 plugs in the cabbins, bring USB extention cords for charging.
There are cute little front porches so don't forget your chairs, like I did. But if you do the local Ace Hardware has some for sale!
Also, the park only give 1 key for the cabin, so if you and your guest want to split off there are not the tridional key cards like at hotels, you will receive 1 dead bolt key.
Parking is a bit tight esp. for BIG trucks.
Each cabin has porch lights, when turned on they light up your cabin all night. If you like it dark bring a sleeping mask.
- Michael (10/5): - Great staff
- Lisa (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Very nice and clean. Quiet area. Cabins was perfect for our stay.
- Paula (8/5): - My family and i enjoyed our stay and know for sure we will be back. We like that we had a rest room in the unit rhat we stayed. The people working at the property were very nice. We do wish the air conditioner unit had been cleaned. It was moldy and dusty. And some of us have allergies to mold. Besides that we loved our stay.
- Selona (8/5): - I enjoy this campground. It is close to Hatteras Point, fishing, the ferry, shopping, and restaurants. The staff are superstars, so personal and professional. I highly recommend this campground. Its not fancy but it is very clean and comfortable. We will alsways come back, and generally stay here atleast 3xs a season.
- Carrie (10/5): - We stayed in the cabins and they were perfect! Pet friendly campground, communication from staff was great.
- Kathy (10/5): - Stayed in the cottage..very cute and cozy...only thing is 1st night was a little on the cool side and a little heat would have been nice.. but these are made mostly for the summer months..took blankets and it worked well...will definitely use them again..since i had stayed in the summer with a camper..
- Darin Del (10/5): - 5 minutes to ferry terminal, 5 minutes to ocean or the sound.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall a nice trip - The stay was overall pretty good. The only thing we found was there are only 2 washers and dryers for the entire campground. 1 washer was broken and there was no change machine to get quarters and the office was closed. Could also use a playground for the little ones as there isnt much for kids on the property other than the pool for summer.
- Laura (10/5): - Love staying here for a relaxing vacay. Can fish and kayak in the canal, cookout, just chill. Close to the beach.
- Chloe A (10/5): - Cute little cottages. Great stay, exactly what we needed with a good price point!
- Tricia (10/5): - I love the little cabin. It was cozy
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great place to stay. A few stackable chairs on porch would be nice and the mattress on the bunk are very uncomfortable. Great locations and extremely friendly staff. Love to stay again!
- Kristy (10/5): A much needed vacay to a wonderful new place♥️♥️♥️ - Nice little camp ground. Friendly staff, clean camp ground and clean rental. We rented the single wide mobile home. It was more than enough space for my husband and I. A cute little secluded sitting area, with a little grill and a little patio for chairs, in front of the rental. A short walk to the beach, a cute canal running all away around the camp ground that you can fish or kayak in. A cute little bridge over the canal, which u can get amazing sun rising pics from.
- Walter (10/5): - Property manager/ owner was very friendly and made great dining suggestions.
- Misty (2/5): - Nothing . Cabin is too small , shower curtain didn’t go all the way to the floor , water ran out onto the floor . Shower pan was soft when you stepped into to take a shower. Cabin 14 .
- Selona (6/5): - Have stayed at Hatteras Sands MANY times thru out the years. Have never encountered any real issues. HOWEVER, this time was different. Upon checking in the guy said he wasnt going to charge us 20 for early check in bc we werent staying we were only checking in so it wasnt almost 9pm when we came off beach but then he said he was and when I paid him in cash he only opened the cash register and placed our 20 in it, no receipt, he first stated bc we werent going to be there he wasnt going to charge us to simply drop our refrigerator food off but then out of no where did charge us. Secondly, when we came off the beach the room had some issues, like the front door was jammed and wouldnt stay shut unless we locked the deadbolt, after the first day my husband fixed it. The shower floor had a lot of sand in the bottom from the previous renters. The floors under the bunks had dog hair under them (kind gross) when I tried sweeping the floors the dog hair caught flight and ended up on the counters and bed, then the lawn around the cabin was high and the picnic tables displaced (we had to shuffle them into place.) Just felt like they werent being maintained like in the past visits. We;ll still be back bc its an ideal location for fishing at the point. But frustrating bc no one wants to clean up from the last folks. Hoping this was just an isolated incident. Still will recommend Hatteras Sands.
- Mike (8/5): - Staff very friendly and property close to numerous restaurants and shopping. Cabin was cozy and was clean. Nice pool on property to enjoy as well.
- Clark (10/5): - These little cabins are perfect rest stop between the beach, fishing, and good food.
- Robin (10/5): - We really enjoyed our visit. We were in a cabin that was buffered by water ways. We enjoyed watching the wildlife in the marsh. It was so peaceful and we will be back. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
- Mollie (10/5): - I loved this property. I would stay again! Perfect conditions and beautiful stay. Friendly staff that is super helpful.
- Norma (10/5): Great stay! - We loved it!!!! The gal at check in was super friendly. We loved the close proximity to everything amd the ease to get in and out. Our cabin was so cute and they were all so pretty. Can't wsit to return!
- jennifer (10/5): - Over all the cabin and the property was kept up very well. The only thing i did not like was the mattress pad was to thin. There waa cushion form it
- Esau (10/5): - Came for the first time to Hatteras and had a great time. Went fishing one day and had blast catching Mahi, and Blackfin. It close to the marina which was a plus. The site manager was excellent at making recommendations as to things to see and places to eat. Overall great trip and will be back.
- Michelle (10/5): - We had a great stay!!
- Angelia (8/5): - Really liked the cabin (though not a rain shower as advertised) the queen bed had a good mattress that much appreciated and the club house and arcade are very nice as is the pool. I feel like they cld do alot with a little landscaping around the cottages and cabins though. I did not appreciate being charged for extra car before telling me and charging for it 3 nights even though my daughter only stayed one night. I do love how welcoming they are to your 4legged family members ❤️ all in all we will return its in a prime location to the beach -sound -Ferry-& shopping
- Emily (8/5): - So beautiful and super cute! The owners were so nice and friendly. The only issue is that there were a lot of ants in our cabin.
- Matthew (10/5): - Convenient to what we wanted to do.
Beds in cabin could’ve been more comfortable
- Gracie (10/5): - Always a great time and staff is always very friendly!!!
- Lilley (10/5): - Hatteras Village is our favorite place! We come down quite often and this is our favorite place to stay! Great location, great people, and very clean!!
- Amy (10/5): - It was a great place to stay - We have stayed here before and will definitely continue to visit again
- Lori (6/5): - The floors were dirty and dusty. toilet would run constantly unless you picked up the tank lid and pulled the bulb up to stop it from running. The plastic wrapped mattress was awful, it made my sheets ball up under me due to the slippery nature of the plastic wrap on the bed. We woke up with ants all over the counter that had the microwave on it, and they had gotten into some food we had there, we had to throw our food away due to the ant invasion. No tissues, or paper towels were provided and we were charged another $20.00 for arriving early and practically all the cabins were empty so I didn't understand the reason for the extra charge. The good thing was the beautiful birds that were feeding on the canal that surrounds the cabins. The birds were awesome. I
- David (6/5): - Cons would get swampy water does not drain after it rained cabin was small says for four people maybe three with 10 year old and under more like for two people has microwave and small fridge no way of cooking except small grill outside pros has pool front desk was A fishing crabbing ? bathrooms and showers clean
- Andrew (10/5): Stayed there for our 4th time. Will stay again. - This place is the best price and you really get alot more than what you pay. I'm a big guy (6'7", 290lbs) and the place we stay in, is a cabin. The cabins have a bathroom that I fit very comfortable in and the showers are great too. Lots of hot water and very spacious. Alot of campground cabins I've stayed at have cracks to allow mosquitos to fly in. These are sealed great and stay warm or cool for whatever time of the year. My wife and I love them bc they are pet friendly but you'd never know a pet was in one of these because they always smell good and are very clean. The staff is always accomendating and super nice, if you need something. The grounds are amazing and the clientele of everyone who stays there is good (no sketchos). It's also a good central location in hatteras. We stay there bc I fish alot out of hatteras marina, so it's close. I hope the prices will stay the same bc we plan on staying there unless it closes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyed our stay! - The staff was amazing, the young lady behind the counter was excellent. Everything was as-advertised. Costs of items in the camp store was very reasonable. Clean and efficient. We stayed in October, so the place wasn't full. Weather was great for most of our stay. Pool is very large. Good location. /john
- Leeanne (10/5): Cabin on the beach - First let me say, we were there during a tropical storm. But still, the cabin, the campgrounds and the people around us were WONDERFUL. The cabin was just the right size for us and our dogs, the area was clean and well maintained.
- AMANDA (8/5): - We have stayed here for 3 years now! This year we upgraded to a cabin from the cottages! It was our honeymoon! It was a very wonderful stay! The cabins are very cute and spacious! It is nice to have a private bathroom as well!! The staff is always great and very helpful!! Its a beautiful place to stay and very close to a beautiful beach access point! We will definitely stay here again!
- robert (10/5): - The people that run/own the property were so kind and helpful with anything i needed or requested. Great customer service!
- Jessica (10/5): - Friendly and helpful
- Thomas (10/5): - Great we enjoyed
- Ben (8/5): Love this place - Very cute cottages. The campgrounds were extremely clean and well taken care of.
- Brian (10/5): - Great place for families! We stay here every year and never are disappointed
- Diane (8/5): Our vacation - We had a good stay there. Small but nice.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Hidden Gem - This was our 2nd stay at the campground and it was just as great as the first. The staff is so friendly and they are always coming up with ways to make it better.
- Christian (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay
- Beverley (8/5): - This was a nice little getaway for the family. We really enjoyed the pool and the swimming.
- Rachael (10/5): - Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Close to beach.
- Kristin (10/5): - It was our first time staying here and we rented one of the cabins and it was everything we needed for a family of 3. Very clean, comfortable and relaxing. The pool was also very nice, clean and just a short distance from our cabin. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay here again 😁
- Paige (2/5): - This campground was disgusting. Staying in a cottage we had no access to running water so we had to go to the bathhouse which was almost always closed for ‘cleaning’ but remained filthy the entire time. When you shower, the water fills up the entire shower and floods because they are so nasty. The handle was broken on the door to even get out of the bathhouse. When entering our cottage, it was filthy and there was still trash in it. The pillows left to be used had mold all over them, the refrigerator was filthy it looked like someone had thrown up all over it. My daughter woke up with bug bites on her the first night of staying. I was told by the manager I would get a call when I was checking out, and never received one which is not shocking. I called days later to speak with someone which was very rude and when I told her I was calling to give them a chance to make it right before I left a negative review, she told me ‘okay Paige have a nice day’ and hung up. Please save yourself from staying in such a trashy place. I’ve never been so excited to get home from a vacation. Do not stay here!!!
- Montana (10/5): - The place was very relaxing and felt like home.We will definitely be back for next vacation
- James (10/5): - Close to the beach . Clean and family friendly.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great quiet place. Just wish the hot tub was working
- Linda (8/5): - Location of resort was good.
- Joyce (6/5): - Not what we expected at all. We had a little problem with staying, but after some phone calls everything was solved.
- Bruce (10/5): - Our stay was very wonderful. We will be there again in the future. Thanks guys.
- Faith (10/5): - We had a great trip and loved staying in the cottage! We are definitely coming back again sometime this summer:)
- Kathryn (4/5): - Overall it was clean. The staff was very friendly. The pool not being open was upsetting because it was the reason I booked the cottage and then couldn’t shower for the last 2 days because of a broken propane line causing no hot water
- Gracie (10/5): - It was beautiful! Everyone was super nice and helpful, it was very relaxing. I would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in the cabins and it just felt like home. All that you would need for weekend getaway
- Michael (10/5): - Nice place to stay. We were off season and they are close to being ready for this year. Can't hold that against them. Close to ferry.
- Amanda (10/5): Perfect Get Away - Wonderful place to stay, a little confusing getting to the cabin, but it was also after dark we arrived.
- Adam (8/5): Cozy Cabin - Pool was closed but other than that the stay was great
- Charles (10/5): - Very clean, quiet setting.
- Donna (10/5): - Our cottage was well maintained and the perfect getaway. We really appreciated how w dog-friendly the property is. We’ll definitely be back.
- Danielle (8/5): Not bad for a small space - Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Shower had hair and toothpaste residue from previous tenant. Mat for shower and front door were not provided which made the floor terribly slippery when getting out of the shower or when it was raining out. The property has a lot of potential but there is a lot of construction currently. Some tv channels were snowy. We only got two pillows for three beds. However, I did like the location which was close to a lot and the ferry. Staff was very nice and attentive. It was nice to walk along the channel and see fish and crabs.
- Gavin (8/5): - Our stay here was very pleasant and quiet. We got in late after they closed and they had the key in the front ready for us, very convenient for us. Area surrounding the cabins on other side of canal is a little cluttered with debris, but other than that beautiful view and very clean on the inside. The cabins are a bit small, they give the vibe of a tiny home which I think is adorable, but wouldn’t recommend staying with more than 4 people.
- Jody (10/5): - Cabins were cozy and clean. Kevin was very helpful and friendly. Booked online, and with added note we got next to our friends! Beds were comfortable, glad they had a coffee pot (mini), microwave and small fridge and an outdoor charcoal grill. It was perfect. Met nice people from WV.
Will definitely be back!
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
- james (10/5): - Great location! Friendly staff great mini cabin.
Make sure to take in everything you’ll need like linens, towels and toilet paper etc…
Fabulous place!
- johnathan (10/5): - Stayed four nights with my twin six year old boys who loved the pool and the game room that had a pool table and a couple claw machines that just made their day lol! I also had a small dog with me they seemed to enjoy the accommodations! It was very nice , the owners and staff were super helpful and friendly… it was a nice quite area , cabins were clean and neat … I did miss my bed though … Beware the mosquitoes are fierce at night!
The boys loved it and we would definitely stay again !
- Edwin (10/5): - Great stay. Cabin was clean. Bathrooms in the camping area were clean. Everything seemed well organized and everyone was pleasant.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Staff was friendly. Campground was clean and quiet. We will definitely be back next year
- michele (6/5): - Not their fault but too far from anything. And the gnats were awful when trying to sit outside.
- Eric (8/5): - Excellent cabins next to a creek. Well appointed with AC, mini fridge, microwave, and full bath. Pool had a 9ft end so that was nice to be able to swim in deep water. Looking forward to my next adventure at Hatteras Sands!
- Mandy (10/5): Great place - Always a pleasant stay. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing place that you clamp this is your spot. Even if you have a camper there are plenty of places to have a great fun of camping with the ferry boat not that far from Ocracoke Island.
- Jamie (10/5): - The property was very cute and clean. I liked that it was pet friendly and the other people staying on the property were very nice and considerate. I would definitely come back and stay again.
- Tamara K (10/5): - The property was very nice and close to everything. Bath house was very clean.
We would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends.
- DEANNA (4/5): - Cabin was fine. We didn’t use any of the amenities. The mosquitoes were awful.
- Caitlin (8/5): Cute and affordable - A little run down, but for the price it was decent. The bathhouse was clean and the staff was friendly. The light in the lower part of our cottage flickered badly, but everything else was is pretty good condition. The gameroom/clubhouse is cool, and the pool looked really clean (though we didn't use it during our stay; we did all our swimming at the beach.)
- Paul (10/5): Quick Getaway - I've stayed here before. Great spot to get all the way down Hwy 12. The beaches are not crowded.
