• Anjalie (1/5): Uncomfortable & very dirty pillows. - The only good thing about the place is that it's near to the galle Fort. The room was not the same as shown in pictures.And the pillows were so old that it has turned into brown colour.By seeing that we slept without the pillows.And also there were ants in the bed which made us uncomfortable to sleep.There was no rack to keep the clothes as well.I don't think the owners really care about the guests comfort or the feedback.We were not provided with free WiFi as well.

• cristian (2/5): place with poor hygiene to avoid - the only positive thing was that it had air conditioning i'll start by saying that the deluxe room was extremely dirty, and by extremely i mean that it was very dirty. i felt dirty just staying there and i don't know how i managed to last 2 nights there. i'll start by saying that the pillows were of very low hygiene and I didn't have the courage to use them, they absolutely should be thrown away and disgusting (i'll leave photos). the towels and bed covers were stained and dirty. the wifi didn't work and didn't reach inside my room (it was an external one that overlooked the street) and the cell phone signal didn't work, so no internet in the room, i was isolated. but the most serious thing is something else... there were ants and bedbugs all over the house, in the walls, in the bathroom, in the bedside tables and above all in the bed, i woke up every day with ants and bedbugs in my body, disgusting, never again. i don't recommend it to anyone, rather spend a few euros more for a more decent place

• Zooshan (3/5): It was okay but the room needs maintenance work to be done. - It was at a great location and was very affordable. The owner provided us with water bottles upon request. The room had a moldy smell. The bathroom also smelled. We stayed in the ground floor room and the door was difficult to use as well. There was dust everywhere. The sheets had these brown specks which looked like mold?

• Andrew (8/5): A little gem - Fort Heaven is a little gem, tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood but just minutes from the ramparts. My room was in the roof, reached by its own stair. It was small but comfortable, and quiet. Good bathroom and shower, all very clean. I wanted to stay another night but it wasn't possible. So, a good recommendation, then.

Very close to Galle lighthouse. There are so many photo locations aroundbthe hotel. It's better if it had a chair to sit in the room. And there was no clothing rack. Tv remote was not working.

• das (1/5): Indifferent owner, zero security, standalone room that opened to a street, facilities absent - The place was clean and location was good but that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. It felt like a scam. The room size was small but that was understood and I have no complaints about it. 1. Very aloof hotel owners, from the beginning it felt like they were doing a charity for me. Inhospitable attitude. 2.The following facilities mentioned in my booking were absent: A. No food and drink was provided. Facilities said they offer a packed lunch but when I asked they refused. Though I offered payment of course. B. Picture clearly shows water bottle in rooms. I had arrived there on a hot, humid afternoon and the room had no water. So i asked water bottles and the lady directed me to a shop. C. The room opened directly to a small, side alley and only shared a wall to the owner's house. The door lock was not even very sturdy. The picture or description in booking.com didn't give you any idea that it's a room on a street with no lobby or anything. It felt very unsafe, as I was a female solo traveler. Coupled with the unfriendly attitude of the owners, it was a pathetic experience. D. These things mentioned as facilities in the listing were not there: desk, alarm clock, carpeted floor, wardrobe, slippers, clothes rack, hair dryer, bathrobe. E. The 24 house security is a big joke. Even during the day, i could contact anyone from the house only after repeated knocking and calling out at their door. At night, they close their door by 9/9.30 pm and after that there is no presence of any hotel staff. Throughout it felt like I was living in a single room house on a small street. Extremely unsafe environment. F. The images in this listing show a lobby kind of area. That's there own private space with no access for hotel guests. G. There was no room service, no staff to call or anything. If I needed anything, I had to go out to the street and knock and knock on the owner's door and then someone would care to descend from the upstairs and reply you, that too with an attitude that I am troubling them.
• Guest (8/5): To sum up, the accomodation is nice, location is good, if the family is away, its very nice. - I stayed 4 nights in Fort Haven. The upstairs loft was a nice space. As some other reviewers have noted there was a noticeable smell coming from the bathroom, which i’ve found is common in asia, so i wasn’t really bothered by that. Another reviewer mentioned that the family was quite noisy; in my case i was fortunate that the family went away for 2 days, so i had the place all to myself which allowed me to really relax. I can definitely agree with the other reviewer that when at home the family can be quite noisy, even very early in the morning, which would’ve been a poor experience if they were at home the whole time. Obviously, it is their house, and they’re absolutely entitled to be there, but from a guest point of view, the ongoing noise would absolutely retract from the experience of the stay; mainly the youngest child was noisy. The family over all was cordial upon interaction, but mainly left me alone, exchanging pleasantries when coming and going from the property. The only other thing you must be careful of are the stairs up to the room, do not walk or put your weight on the left side of the steps as there is nothing supporting that side, you must walk in the middle part of the step so your weight is on the support beam, one of the steps near the top seemed a but lose. (Please attend to tightening the bolts there). Over all id say, i would stay here again, only if the family went away for the time i was there, its nothing personal, I'm just someone who likes quietness and a serene atmosphere. The location is fantastic and one of the best aspects of the stay, its towards the end of the fort and nestled in a quieter part away from the noise and racket of scooters etc. ive given 8/10 as per my personal experience. Had the family been home the whoe time, making lots of noise, i would probably give it a 6.5, as peace and quiet it a top priority of mine. • Samri (1/5): This place is an ideal place if you’re looking for a budget staying to explore the Galle fort Highly recommend - it's a good place for those looking to explore Galle Fort. Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was quite disappointing. There were several issues that made the experience uncomfortable: • No parking facilities were available, which was very inconvenient. • The TV was present but not working, which defeated the purpose of having one. • Cleanliness was below standard — the pillows weren’t clean, and I even noticed bed bugs, which is completely unacceptable. • Despite being advertised, no complimentary water bottles were provided. • The room had only one charging slot, making it difficult to charge multiple devices. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and makes improvements, as the current state doesn’t reflect good hospitality.

• Ravi (8/5): A great place to stay. - I stayed in the room downstairs. It was spacious and convenient as it had its own entrance. Nicely decorated, very comfortable and clean. Right in the heart of the Galle Fort. Approach road it too narrow for a car but since I did not drive it was not an issue. All was good.

• Melisa (8/5): A lovely home stay in the fort walls. - Great location and beautifully decorated. Literally within the fort walls so you can reach everything very easily! There was a bit of a smell coming from the bathroom and the bed was creaky but wasn’t really a dealbreaker!
• Riman (6/5): Pleasant - The property has been placed right inside the Galle fort and just a minute walk to the beach. That is one big advantage for this property. 1. Room I stayed is good but the toilet is kind of stinky all the time. 2. We don’t get a proper host. Most of the time we have to deal with the kids over there, who are owners’ kids I think. 3. Car parking is quite an issue there. Make sure to check with the property management before you get the car to the property.

The room is too small, over-priced, not well maintained, we have been to other whiter properties in Sri Lanka which the host had maintained very well. The room looks very stuffy. Host was kind but should look after their property, especially the common seating area, had dirty, torn sofa cushions.

We did not feel welcomed, having to go through the owner’s living room every time when accessing our room certainly did not help. The AC was directly above our heads during the night, so couldn’t switch it on. The neighbour‘s generator (?) was soo loud, we could not sleep. The staff/ owners are not helpful at all and you always feel like you are imposing and that you are seen as an inconvenience. Half of the items on the facility list are not provided.

There are many great restaurants and cafes in close proximity. The hosts are kind and helpful. In wet seasons, power outages are to be expected. The room AC and fan were working without any issues. Overall, a great option for people who like to spend most of the time outside. There is a noticeable smell of gas in the bathroom (probably because of the leaky boiler gas installation). It's a little hard to find for the first time. The signs could be clearer.

I was somewhat okay with that but what really made this stay not perfect was the family were loud at loud and inconsiderate about their guests who were trying to sleep. If you’re hosting a guest, you need to ensure they’re comfortable. Also a proper blanket would’ve been appreciated and not a sheet as blanket.

• Monidlo (10/5): This place is a gem! - I had a double, white,very clean room in the attic. Everything was perfect. Hot water in the bathroom, ketle for tea making, a/c and fan, lovely table and smal windows. Tv also but I never use it on holiday😉All house is painted white, there is balcony with chairs and tables ,with view on the garden. Downstairs is a owner kitchen, but was possible to use big fridge for me. Proplety is in the little "Ali road" but in the centre of everything. When turn right and right again, about 3 min walk , there is supermarket. Walking around was a big pleasure. Owners of the Fort Heaven speak good english. Thank you for a lovely stay. Everything was perfect
