• Marita (3/5): - The location was good. The service was not good. The air condition did not work in the bedroom. It took 3 days to get the remote control. When we arrived ww were told there is no fresh water for drinking for customers. They run out of the bottled water. When we left they told us that they have water for costomers. Especially in the reception many of the staff members were rude when you asked for anything

• BEATRIZ ELENA (1/5): Pésima y muy costoso - Nada las fotos y comentarios que ustedes muestran no son reales no tienen que ver con la realidad vivida, además el cobro del hospedaje fue demasiado costoso a lo que son las instalaciones y no fue incluido el desayuno , sabiendo que solo ofrecía esa comida ya que la de almuerzo o cena era para personal escogido, el trato y respeto de la recepcionista fue irrespetuoso, la piscina en pésimo estado,la distancia del hotel al centro es de una hora en bus y en servicio de taxi es costoso sale entre $89 y 90 mil pesos , las fotos que booking tiene del sitio fueron tomadas hace más de tres años ,pésimo y fue la noche que me cobraron fue la más costoso hablando con los huéspedes qué lástima haber omado la opción de ustedes que engaño gracias El trato de la recepcionista, el trato de la administradora y en general la presentación de la habitación y el desaseo de la habitación, como es posible el cambio de toalla cada dos días y a mí en 7 días que estuvimos nos la cambiaron una sola vez, el aseo del baño lo realizan día por medio terrible, cambio de sábanas no fue hecho en ninguno de los siete días la piscina con las baldosas dañadas y sueltas no se porque no puedo enviarles el video de la presentación de la para una

Los buses de transporte público pasan muy poco y los taxis te cobran demasiado. La habitación tenía mucho olor a humedad. La cama tenía chinches. Algunas zonas de la habitación tenían moho. Esta muy descuidado sin mantenimiento. El techo tenía filtraciones. La piscina estaba sucia y descuidada. Es el vivo ejemplo de que lo barato sale caro. La fotos que están publicados son antiguas y no son acorde a la realidad al día de hoy.

There is no alcohol, no wine at the restaurant, no fridge in the room. No hot water. The sink in the bathroom had no drain. They don’t provide water bottle nor can you purchase them on the premisses. It’s by the ocean, but the ocean is across the street and you can not even go near. It’s far from everything. If you are used to the basic luxuries you will hate it there. But again, the staff was so nice it kills me to give that review.

• Jasmin (8/5): - We loved how accommodating the staff was when we wanted to check out early. They were incredibly friendly, everyone wished us a good morning. The property itself is nice, however there were a number of people just kind of lingering around with nothing much to do other than just stare at you. It is not close to anything, but food and drinks at the restaurant were affordable and they accepted various types of payment which was convenient. The pool is lackluster, but good when you need to get out of the heat. Beds were comfortable. We weren’t able to get a taxi to the airport, but did manage to talk down the price of a buggy which we rented for the day and dropped off at the airport. FYI - there is no airport transfer as mentioned on Expedia. The island itself is lacking resources and is very poor, we kept our wits about us when we went out and didn’t run into any problems.

• Henry (10/5): - It was clean and quiet. It is far from downtown, so you must pay for expensive car rides to the hotel. There are no restaurants around, so you have to buy the food at the resort. The food was good but it is expensive compared to what you can get downtown. The staff is super nice and helpful, and many of them speak English and Spanish.

• Keith (4/5): Very disappointed! - I knew it was far from the center, 25 min by car, I knew it was eco, but if I ask you to clean my room and you don’t, cmon. Breakfast was simply, eggs, sausage, pancake and some other stuff, cereal, toast and cheese. They said food was outstanding but expensive, to me just expensive. Better places out of there. That said there’s airport transfer, but couldn’t communicate with hotel because number isn’t updated with Hotels.com, when we were leaving they said it wasn’t included even though on the page it says it’s included. Pictures of room were not the actual rooms which really upset me. On top of everything, waiting hours for the room, it wasn’t clean, which is ironic because that’s why we were waiting. I understand I was early, but then don’t tell me you are giving me a room.

The rooms spacious. No hot water. We ended up moving to another hotel closer to downtown with warm water and more modern decor.

There are no restaurants around the hotel, so I have to eat in the hotel's restaurant, which is very tasty but insanely expensive. In addition, the hotel does not help with shuttles to the city and back except for 2 trips per day. The hotel rooms do not deserve the very expensive price, the room was dirty, found with stains. We asked to leave the hotel after one day and get a refund, more than a week has passed and no money has returned to me and of course the hotel ignores my messages. Highly recommend staying away from the old hotel, it's just bad!!

• Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is perfect for couples that want to get away from the hustle and bustle. I felt like we had our own private resort. It’s far from the city part of the island and that was perfect for me. We had our own personal beach right around the corner from this hotel. Plus the food at the restaurant was very good. Staff was amazing and after two days here I wanted to move in. Hahaha I will definitely stay here again

• AshleyZarian (2/5): - There was no hot water. Only freezing. Hotel staff was rude. Nothing worked bathroom smelled like sewer. Hotel was in no condition to have guests. I want to request a full refund.
• Brian (4/5): Disappointing island retreat - No hot water, restaurant & breakfast very poor, swimming pool and neighborhood just sad ! Remote location and dangerous shoreline. Would NOT recommend.

• Shab (10/5): - Stay here!!! It’s a new property that has it all!! From breakfast included to a hot tub, steam room and two pools to a nice deck to practice yoga on and a fitness center! The staff is extremely nice and the food is so yummy! You can watch sunset from the rocky area across the street. The highlight of our stay here was the security guard at front, Pablo! He made us feel right at home from the second we got there. He helped us set up a scooter rental and waited on the side of the road to help us wave a bus down to town. Not only that but he saw the bug bites on my back and took it upon himself to bring me an entire aloe plant from his own yard. He cut the aloe into pieces and had the kitchen staff make juices for us as he packaged the rest for us to take home. I have not experienced such a genuine heart like his in a long time. He made us feel right at home to the point where we ended up booking for two more nights. Thank you Pablo and the rest of the staff for making our stay so extremely special.

• wandernet (6/5): Great potential for improvement - I would like to start with the positives; the hotel is very nice, the food is expensive but good and the staff very friendly and helpful, however, there is lots of room for improvement. Our reservation stated that the hotel provides airport shuttle, so I contacted the hotel via email and phone but received no response. Apparently the hotel doesn’t have a regular shuttle. This is a theme here, the jacuzzi has cold water, the sauna is shut down, even our room wasn’t serviced. The location is not so great, while the ocean is across the street, there is no view from the hotel and the closest beach is a half an hour walk (no shuttles are provided). I am not sure if this is in line with other hotels but I thought the hotel was quite expensive and I expect the basics to work.

• mauriciosanmartin (4/5): Disappointing experience - We arrived on Friday, June 28th with great expectations due to the great reviews, We wanted to avoid the crowds from downtown San Andres. We traveled six adults staying in three different rooms. The hotel is very nice, and the employees are very friendly. The real problem was the food. On Saturday night the six of us ordered six different dishes from a menu that has pictures of gorgeous dishes. The menu has one Page in Spanish and the page behind is in English. Great work on the menu. When we got the food, it looked very different from what the menu showed. The chef salad which was supposed to have ten ingredients came with only four. The shrimp tacos arrived with no tortillas and stale plantain chips. When we asked "where are the tacos?" the waiter looked perplexed and said he would be right back, Ten minutes later he brought back a plate bearing one hard-shell taco the type you get in the US in the Old El Paso taco kit. To make matters worse, the taco shell was stale. The Red Snapper with Seafood sauce and coconut rice arrived without the rice and instead they replaced it with french fries. The fish itself was under cooked and the seafood sauce was bland at best and it resembled flour and water, and random seafood bits looking like prison food slop. The grilled chicken with rice was burnt outside and pink on the inside. The rice was cold and stiff. We also had Ribs that were just ok, but nothing special. Another dish we ordered was a grilled fish that had no flavor and came with... french fries instead of the rice that was supposed to come with the dish. The bottom line is that most of the food was inedible and we went to bed hungry because there are no options nearby this gated compound. The manager came to our table and apologized for our experience and did not charge us for anything, which was the least thing she could have done. We were told that the chef had left earlier and the food was prepared by one of his assistants. We thought, well any business can have a bad day. On Sunday we went to downtown San Andres looking for better places to eat. We had lunch at the Islander and got back to Solare SAI at 6pm to return our rental car. We checked the restaurant and we were told that the chef had left again at 7pm. With no other options, we asked to be taken to a restaurant in downtown San Andres, which they accepted but only one way, so we had to take a taxi back to the hotel. The hotel website offers a peaceful hotel away from the noisy downtown. On Saturday morning we were awoken by loud music at 7am. Then, at night, there was a party with loud music that ended at 1:30 am. Finally, the swimming pool “closes” at 7pm. The pool is beautiful with lights and you envision yourself by the pool in the evening after a day at the beach but end up disappointed when they tell you it’s closed. Most resorts pools stay open at least until 10 pm. In summary, the hotel has a great potential. The staff is very friendly, the manager tried to fix the problems we encountered, but our experience was not good. We were attracted by previous reviews about the food, but we experienced something different. The noise was a big drawback too. NOTE: Two of the travelers speak perfect Spanish, so there was not a language barrier here.
• hotelero-colombiano (10/5): The best place for relax - Hotel is located in the south of the island far from the city. Location is full of silence, peace, nature and woderful views. The sea in front the hotel (across the street) is very very clear, like a pool. But no beach. Rooms are inside the nature under trees and plants. Tree pools with a bar are wonderful to refresh the body. Sleep is a pleasure. Rooms well equiped, no noises, no lights, only silnece and some birds. An special note about the food : simply the best. A wide variety of dishes, well prepapred. In one word : delicious. Solare is a good option for a total relax, far form the citiy, lights, noise. HIghly recomended to recharge batteries.
• nataliacr13 (10/5): Great experience in this hotel - I just left Solare, it was a great experience, our room was impeccable, they cleaned it everyday. Also the food was amazing a 5/5, they give you a menu to choose whatever you are in the mood for! Desserts, everything was yum. I went with 3 friends, we were at the pool, we went everyday to the beach! The hotel also picked us up at the airport! Thats great because we were kind of lost when we got to the island! I really enjoyed staying here, it was a great experience at this beautiful Colombian island, i totally recommend to stay in this hotel! You get everything u need and even more! I already miss it! Thank you for being so nice!
