- Rémy (7/5): bien - Silverton a été choisi en dernière minute suite à un changement dans notre itinéraire. Il n'y avait que 2 hotels de disponibles, nous avons choisi le grand impérial car la chambre était plus grande. L'établissement est correct mais ce n'est pas le genre de déco que nous privilégions habituellement. Mais il était précisé qu'il respectait le charme de l'ancien, donc l'essentiel est que nous y ayons bien dormi. Pas de petit déjeuner, uniquement quelques boissons chaudes, mais une bakery attenante sympathique permet de choisir entre quelques viennoiseries. Je ne sais pas si le restaurant fait partie de l'hotel (il se trouve dans la même bâtisse) mais nous avons été un peu déçus, non pas par la qualité de ce que nous avions mangé mais par le fait suivant : Nous avions commandé du saumon et avons été servis avec un filet de boeuf. Ce n'est pas une question de langue car notre fils est parfaitement bilingue. Le serveur nous a proposé de refaire les plats, mais nous lui avons dit que ce n'était pas si grave et que cela éviterait de la perte. Mais au moment de la facture, nous avons été facturés du boeuf alors que le saumon était moins cher. J'aurais trouvé très commerçant de nous facturer ce que nous avions commandé car en faisant refaire les plats, ils perdaient le boeuf et auraient de toute façon étés payés du saumon. C'était gagnant-gagnant. Mais apparemment, le responsable ne l'entendait pas ainsi. Ce n'est qu'un détail car finalement nous avons payé ce que nous avons mangé, mais je tenais quand même à le signaler car nous sommes sortis un peu frustrés.

- Regina (10/5): We would stay here again. - Centrally located in Silverton. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of hot water with good volume. The two-bedroom suite was perfect for our needs. Our suite was directly over a saloon and restaurant that did not close until 10:00. We retired to bed at 8:00 because of a very early departure the next morning. The noise from the saloon/restaurant kept us awake until its closure at 10:00p. If you plan an early bedtime, be sure to ask for a quieter location.

Stayed in London & Sydney Australia for less.

- Nancy (10/5): Delightful! - It is a classic, I think one of the originals in Silverton. The lobby is charming. The staff folks were personable. The room was spacious. It is right in the center of town. And the updates were quite nice. I did not like lugging my things up 49 steps. No elevator. Our room had a claw foot tub, which was charming, but hard to get in and out of. And they had the shower curtain covering the water controls and soap dish. Some rooms had regular showers. Next time I’ll ask. And there will be a next time.

- Keith (8/5): This was in short, a delightful stay - The restaurant and bar was amazing. Aesthetics of the hotel were very nice and the staff was extremely friendly. It would have been nice for the rooms to have a mini fridge.

I didn't sleep well at all. No microwave, no fridge or freezer. No elevator. Honestly this place for charging a premium when it doesn't have a host of modern day accessories is outdated and old.

The sofa in our room was the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I have sat on in years. It is nice to have an old Victorian piece of furniture but it should be reconditioned to make it comfortable to sit on.

- Gonzales (8/5): Nice 1800's Hotel - They put in a corner room which had a nice view. First time visiting Silverton and would visit again.. The Hotel was nice and had an 1800's vibe. When we walked into our room, it was 80 degrees. Opened up a second window to get somewhat of a cross breeze. No AC. Also windows had no screens so open for any bugs/mosquitoes to enter. Came back to room after it had cooled down outside in the evening. Fortunately had blinds. For what we paid maybe they ought to get some portable AC units to use as needed. Wouldnt have problem venting out thru screenless windows. Since a ski town gets cold there and AC systems may noy make sense. This is where portable units more feasible and cost effective.

We wished the room had even a small mini fridge, as we were traveling. We also enjoy just making our own simple yogurt/fruit/nut breakfast. We also wished there had been more instructions on use of the TV for our evening pleasure.

The room was very small. No AC. Room was hot all night. They provided a fan on request but it didn't help much. Bathtub was very tall and step making it hard to shower or bath. No elevator and no parking for trailers so I had to carry my luggage 2 blocks then up two flights of stairs. Staff was not very friendly or attentive.

Bring fans and ask for extension cords. - The history of the property was very clear the minute you walked in the door and it was very clean, well kept, and had very soft linens. The bathrooms are also beautiful with footed tubs and lovely mosaic tiles. The serious lack of air conditioning, though they do offer fans, and the paper thin walls. There weee also only a few outlets. You have to go down to the front desk for an extension cord. Night owls or travelers with children be careful, as you’ll have to be whisper quiet in this place. Also not ADA accessible as there are no ramps or elevators, so be prepared to climb stairs.

Bars & coffee shops right next door. Floors were very squeaky, I feel bad for whoever was in the room below us. No air conditioning, but this is a historic building so that's not expected. However, I wouldn't recommend staying here in the summer because of this.

- Cynthia Thorstad (9/5): Best place in Colorado for fall Aspen colors, with the historic vibe that makes Colorado memorable. - This is a beautiful hotel with excellent views and historic vibe. There was no better place for aspen colors than Silverton this year. We traveled around (including Kebler Pass and Crested Butte) this week with our drive to and from Denver; and the drive between Ouray and Durango, with Silverton being our home base, was the very best. The hotel has the finest, softest sheets and comfy beds, with glorious views of the colorful mountains blanketed in yellows, oranges and reds due to the overwhelming number of aspens in the area. So happy we stayed here. I will be bringing my own pillows next time. The pillows were pretty hard - reminding me of our time in Ireland this year where there were no good pillows anywhere we stayed. Why can't top hotels replace their pillows more often with softer and more resilient pillows? Costco and Target can make it a reasonable cost for these hotels.

- Ellen (8/5): Overall good stay! - The history of the place. Very welcoming staff. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. We visited in off season, and it was super quiet. We enjoyed the cafe next door. Needed more lighting in the hotel itself and an extra nightstand and lamp for other side of bed. We didn't know there was no AC, but we opened window and that worked. Carpet on the floor is not my favorite. Of course not having an elevator and staying on the third floor was not fun.

Very comfortable bed and pillows. Liked the coffee/water station on the ground floor. Shower curtain was a bit awkward as curtain had to be pulled over the faucet handles and soap dish so had to reach under the curtain to get to shampoo and soap and to adjust the water temperature.

Our room was comfortable, clean and we loved the furnishings and claw foot bathtub in the bathroom. The hotel was built in 1882 and there is not elevators to the 2nd or 3rd floor, which is understandable because it’s a historic hotel, but this will be an issue for a disabled person.
