Guest Reviews
- David (9/5): - Comfort
- David (10/5): Excellent value. - Excellently located (just off M6 and outskirts of Warrington) but feels rural with country style pubs nearby. Very comfortable and friendly accommodation. Great breakfast. Car park exits next to a junction so take care!
- Steph (9/5): Perfect for a short stay - Lovely, friendly owners, fab cooked breakfast and a clean and comfortable room with my own bathroom. On the crossroads, so a fair amount of road noise, and interesting getting on and off the drive in the middle of the traffic lights! But these were minor issues, and didn't detract from a lovely stay.
- Mike (8/5): - Pleasant greeting, clean and comfortable. Nothing to dislike.
- Jane (10/5): We had a wonderful stay the hosts where fantastic and the breakfast was delicious we had a wonderful stay thank you - It was a beautiful property with loads of character. It was spotlessly clean.
- Darren (10/5): Great definitely coming back xxx - Super location very clean wonderful breakfast hosts very nice Nothing it was excellent
- John (9/5): - Amazing old school breakfast. Just a great little bnb Could have done with a table and chair in my room to work at. Was forced to go do it in the really good food pub across the road, and then forced to drink several pints!
- Blayls (10/5): Wonderful stay - Our rooms were spotless and the bedding and towels smelt amazing. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay again thank you both for a lovely stay
- John (9/5): A Perfect Place to Stay in Cheshire Just Off the M6 Motorway. - The School House B&B is perfectly located about 3miles from the M6 motorway. The room we stayed in had a very comfortable bed with a beautiful modern en-suite bathroom. An extremely warm welcome and a fresh home-cooked breakfast made our stay a very good one. We'll certainly come back.
The 'Cat and Lion' pub is immediately opposite the School House B&B. The pub serves good food, so there's no need to get back into a vehicle and head off to find somewhere for an evening meal. An added bonus. The building sits beside a road intersection which seems to be busy in mornings and evenings, but the insulation is obviously good as the traffic noise wasn't noticeable at all.
- Rob (10/5): -
- Jo (10/5): - Helen was lovely and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious! Very convenient to have parking and a pub across the road for dinner.
- Roger (10/5): Very comfortable , can thoroughly recommend. - First class breakfast. Very comfortable room. Despite being near the main road, very very quiet.
Superb location
- Paul (10/5): Clean,comfortable,friendly & yummy breakfast what more do u need? - Comfy, friendly staff/owner Nothing
- Adam Hutt (10/5): Perfect stop over - Perfect location. Very clean and lovely inside and out. Very friendly owners and breakfast was superb. Nothing at all.
- Lara (8/5): -
- Maytal (9/5): We had an excellent stay - Convenient location
Clear instructions and good local recommendations from hosts
Charming property
Nice breakfast The car park is small and off a busy road, but the hosts have good instructions which helped
- Helen (9/5): Very comfortable. Most welcoming hosts. - Very clean, light and airy. Full of character Nothing to dislike,
- Verified traveler (8/5): Top location - The School House is clean, tidy and well appointed. Very shipshape.
But the best bit for me was its location:
- a swift mile off the M56.
- and a mile too from a top pub – the Stretton Fox – which, handily, was back on the roundabout I’d just used to get off the M56. So I couldn’t really miss it
The only downside was – school-style - a communal breakfast table; my heart sunk when I saw that in the morning. I’m not big on small talk and enjoy my own company at breakfast. But fortunately I had it to myself on the days I was there, so could eat my toast in comfort
- Richard Mackrory (9/5): - Excellent breakfast with a large choice of items. N/A
- Noreen (7/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Cosy, nice and quiet - Lovely breakfast in the old school area. Helen was the prefect hostess and Garry a great cook.
- Sonia (10/5): Really worth a visit - Lovely place full of character, felt like a home away from home. Steeped in history. It's on a busy junction and I thought the traffic noise would bother me but it didn't, stopped around 10pm and windows were well able to dull the sound
- Carolyn (10/5): Perfect stay, the hosts were amazing and the breakfast excellent - Beautiful property, quiet, comfortable and cosy
- Shore (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay just outside of Warrington. Helen could not do any more for us and made you feel most welcome. Breakfast was stunning too. Thanks guys see you again next year
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- Alun (10/5): A little gem - Excellent friendly welcome.
Room lovely and clean and very comfortable
High quality breakfast.
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect! - The School House is lovely in every way and the hosts, Helen and Gary are very helpful and friendly. I look forward very much to staying with them again in their beautiful home.
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (10/5): No need to stay in a bland, non-descript chain, when there fantastic places like this to rest your weary head at night. - Lovely building, great rooms and lot’s of little quirks. From the WiFi password to the old school style milk bottles, not to mention the mini rulers on the key fobs, this place is so much better than staying at a ubiquitous chain. Nothing - fabulous place run by lovely folk.
- Ron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (8/5): Very good - Very friendly hosts and great breakfast.
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional - Smoked bacon and noise from the traffic
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (9/5): I slept like a log! - The room was cosy and attention had been paid to all the important details. Lovely clean, wonderfully comfortable bed, great night lights, fabulous en-suite … actually a good sized bathroom with loads of piping hot water and great water pressure for a wonderful shower. Thick, soft towels, high quality toilet paper! Tea, biscuits and bottled water in room. Local info and history of the home. Just lovely. Warm, welcoming, humorous hosts but not in your face or popping up every time you went down the stairs. Perfect stay. Will be booking again as the price is also perfect! Nothing.
- Ruth (10/5): - Very peaceful place to stay and nice breakfast cooked to order. It's very clean and the couple are very friendly
- Hazel (6/5): Pleasant - Homeley feel Small car park in and out onto busy junction on a main road
- Nicola (9/5): Comfortable stay great breakfast friendly owners - Beautiful interesting building
- Katarzyna (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly owners with great sense of humour, birthday suprise for our son (!), very comfortable beds, tasty breakfasts 😀 Loved everything!
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional. - Exceptional - the property was exceptional, staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for me. Real homely feel and so comfortable. Room was clean and had everything I needed, and the bathroom was lovely! Will definitely stay here again as it was an absolute gem of a find! Nothing!
- Denise (10/5): excellent - excellent
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic B&B. Breakfast was excellent. Charming house with some nice touches referring to it's history. Nothing
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (9/5): Will definitely come back when in the area! - Breakfast became the highlight of the day, chef produced a very well cooked meal every time, (his poached eggs were ace!)
Rooms were very quirky with the School theme running everywhere, head mistress very welcoming and fun - excellent experience! Parking not for the faint hearted when heavy traffic, apart from that nothing bad to say.
- Brian (8/5): Comfortable room with good links to the M56 and M6 - We used the B&B as a lay over while traveling back home as it was located just off the M56 and close to the M6.
The room was clean, comfortable and quiet.
Hosts were happy to accomodate a young baby, even though their details did not get transfered from Booking.com (so it was a suprise to them) - although no additional facilities needed to be provided. Parking was difficult due to a small carpark, a lot of cars in the car park and me having an estate car - this took a bit of creatinve parking to ensure that i didn't block in any other cars.
- Andrew (10/5): - Excellent dealings with Helen who accommodated our specific check-in arrangements to allow us to maximise our time during our stay
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic house with lots of history. The owner is very polite and helpful. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. And there’s a nice pub right next door. Overall really very good 😊
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (9/5): Fab BnB would stay again - Very well kept and some lovely quaint touches in keeping with the property name
The hosts were welcoming and the breakfast was superb, they went out of their way to accommodate our needs 😃
- Paul (8/5): Overall very nice - Comfortable, clean, breakfast was very good. Cat and Lion pub immediately opposite was very nice There was a smell of cigarette smoke in one of the bathrooms which was above the conservatory
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (8/5): Lovely character house with amiable hosts - Convivial hosts for a charming B&B with a great breakfast. Ideal location on the edge of town which meant no complication to find, and great for overnight stay. Nothing
- Istvan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (9/5): Adequate accommodation for our needs. - Location was ideal for our needs. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices.
Hosts very friendly. I left something behind and they promptly forwarded it to me. Excellent service. I would have liked a shower mat.
- Shaznieb (9/5): Perfect, cosy and clean - Great position, just crossed the road for dinner. Lovely cosy ambience. Room was spotless , bed was very comfy.
Hosts were welcoming and helpful Nothing
- D (2/5): These are first impressions as made a decision not to stay. - Proximity to the event.
Availability Access of b and b across a busy junction.
Poor greeting from host.
Stairs steep and difficult to navigate.
Room smelt musty and was dark.
Overpriced for a small room
- Jan (9/5): Superb - Nice cosy room, great breakfast, good hosts Nothing
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Charlotte (8/5): Lovely Little B&B in a Peaceful Location - + The location was perfect for us on this occasion - we were attending a wedding and the venue was just a short walk away.
+ The School House is a lovely little B&B - cosy and clearly run with a lot of care and attention.
+ Beautiful gardens around the property. Comfortable bed, we had a very good night's sleep.
+ Tea / coffee making provisions and bottled water provided in the room.
+ Great pressure on the electric shower.
+ We did not have the breakfast on this occasion but it smelt lovely wafting up the stairs in the morning!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little B&B - Really lovely stay at The School House, breakfast was great and really easy check-in. Electric car charger was super useful! Thank you so much for a comfortable and easy stay.
- Munir (9/5): Comfortable accommodation and nice friendly owners - Very welcoming nice couple NA
- Phil (10/5): Could not have wanted any more! - Old school. Quirky. Spotlessly clean. The softest towels. Friendly. FANTASTIC cooked breakfast.
All you want in a B&B really. Will 100% stay again. No faults!
- AD (10/5): Perfect for a short stay - Lovely place and fantastic breakfast!
- Mortimore (10/5): Absolutely perfect for my requirements - Women travelling alone felt extremely safe, lovely room, soft fluffy towel that smelt lovely. Owner directed me to a fantastic pub that was football free. Extremely clean loved the bottle of water that was in the room & plug sockets had USB. Slept so well & could properly open the windows. Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Nice room, great breakfast, handy location for stopover. Better curtains - room was light once the sun was up, which was very early as it was June.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order, the Schoolhouse is idealy located offering quick access to the local attractions and surrounding area there is a restaurant / bar across the road that offers good food and a nice selection of drinks, parking was available for residents so there was no worries about finding somewhere to park it had good clean accommodation with decent sized rooms with en-suites and free wi-fi
- Jane (9/5): Very pleasant stay in clean & tidy accommodation - The staff were very friendly and the location was ideal, with a lovely local pub across the road. The addition of off-road parking was also welcomed. The limit of breakfast options for vegan/vegetarian
- Stephen (5/5): Adequate. - Breakfast was nice although the strawberry jam portions were out of date. Two poor quality single quilts used on a double bed. No pillow protectors. Shower trap was so full of hair the water would not drain away - it was left out upside down so it would get cleaned (I would have done it myself but it was too revolting!)
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient location. Lovely property & room. Great owners. Lovely breakfast. Reasonable price.
- Smills0707 (8/5): Great stay excellent breakfast - Location near to the M56
Excellent breakfast with great choice
Attentive hosts Walls are thin.. could hear chap next door coughing almost thought at one point he was in the bed next to me!
The room was very clean but the tiles at the bottom of the shower could do with a bit of mould and mildew spray on them
- Mary (8/5): Lovely break with family near by. - We don’t book breakfast when we stay anywhere as we just don’t do breakfast we like to eat around 11am Steep stairs if I’ve had few drinks that’s only concern parking was bit tricky for me if other guests cars parked before me but husband managed fine
- Grasmere (9/5): Was working near by and pub across the road was perfect for dinner and to relax - Lovely host with clean and comfortable room Everything was great
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (10/5): We stayed for two nights. The School House was very comfortable, clean, friendly B&B. The breakfast was also very - A lovely place to stay with a beautifully themed interior
- Chris (10/5): Why stay in a Chain when there are places like this to discover. - Charming, lovely place. Fabulous WiFi, great shower, super clean and tidy and a fab (cooked!) breakfast to boot. It’s the small touches that make elevate it too; the WiFi password and the milk/orange juice containers at breakfast both having an educational leaning. Easy to find, but have your wits about you when entering the car park park as it’s right on a junction opposite a pub. Couldn’t recommend the place highly enough. Nothing!
- Remi (10/5): Great hosts, great breakfast and comfortable room - I loved the quirkiness. The breakfast was exceptional and Helen and Gary were great hosts
- Madhavi (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Character property that the owners have enhanced
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Comfortable clean good location
Excellent breakfast
Gary and Helen are great hosts Nothing
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - The hole house N/a
- Ruth (10/5): excellent value - This BnB is easy to find and the couple are very welcoming. Nice quality of breakfast food, cooked fresh to order. No shampoo and body wash provided as it's a budget price, but it still represents excellent value. Very comfy bed, fluffy white towels and plenty hot water / good shower pressure. Would stay again and happy to recommend.
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect last minute stay , definitely book again
- Normanna (9/5): Historical building, comfortable room, excellent breakfast - 1. Very quiet room, with comfortable beds.
2. Friendly reception by owners.
3. The possibility to arrive fairly late (after confirmation by phone).
4. Excellent breakfast.
- Ian (9/5): A lovely place for a short stay near Stockton Heath - Clean and comfortable with a warm welcome. Excellent breakfast. Very good value for money. Access from main road into parking area a little awkward but nothing too bad.
- Annette (9/5): Superb - It was lovely and very near to where i needed to be. Very friendly. Would recommend.
- Ann-marie (9/5): Superb - The room was v comfortable, clean and spacious for the price
Bathroom shower and bath great
Amazing soft super large towels
Good selection for breakfast
Hosts professional WiFi - kept dropping
- Jo (10/5): Excellent - The School House is a beautiful historic building, all the rooms have a school theme, we stayed in 'Science', which has twin beds, it was comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean, it has a large bathroom with a great shower. We were served an excellent breakfast by the hosts, who were friendly and helpful and there's even a very good pub across the road which serves excellent meals. Nothing, all good!
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent discovery and a very friendly B and B. - Excellent quality throughout, for example in the comfort of the bed and bedding, heating, room service/cleanliness and not forgetting the yummy breakfasts, with little touches like Heinz Tomato Ketchup, not the cheapest, which shows the hosts' attitude to giving the customers very good quality at a great price.
Will definitely try to stay here again if in the area.
Thank you Helen and Garry. Nothing
- Geoff (10/5): It was excellent comfortable place to stay. - I like it is an old building with loads of character. It was really well maintained with a beautiful well looked after garden Nothing, It was a nice place to stop
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (10/5): Excellent place - highly recommend - Beautiful property, very well maintained. Wonderful hosts, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - perfect poached eggs!! Thank you very much. Nothing.
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Ted (8/5): A very pleasent two-night stay with excellent hosts. - Getting together with other guests around the breakfast table. A very spacious room. Owing to the very hot weather, we had to leave the windows open all night, so we were disturbed by traffic noise. But we live in a very quiet cul-de-sac!
