Guest Reviews
- MICHIKO (10/5): - スタッフさんがとても親切でした
- Tinish (10/5): - The place was so good. Comfortable
- Serena (6/5): - The location is good. The staff is helpful. Sadly there are mosquitoes in the room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great service - The service rendered was great and we are very grateful because we arrived drenched from the rain as we were on a touring bike. The staff allowed us to store our wet clothes, helmets & riding boots as we arrived at 930 am which is before check in time so that we can go eat & drink something. When I asked for newspaper to stuff into our boots so as to dry it, they didn't have any. However, they gave us a call almost immediately to offer yellow pages which worked just fine. We really appreciate the help!
- Putri (6/5): - Only the location is good.
Parking quite difficult.
- AISHAH (10/5): Location.. Clean.. Safe.. Convenient - I chose this hotel bcos of its mins walk distance to Jonker St. Room, toilet clean. Front desk helpful and friendly. Basic toiletries provided. You can trust the photos on their website, well pretty much alike. Most importantly is it is clean and safe.
- Joe Ong Kah (8/5): - I have been staying at Cheng Ho Residence for years, my favourite. 4 things to improve, pls defroze freezer, make sure tv works, make sure that aircon not warm on Day 1, get Grab recognise Cheng Ho Residence as a location. I like its big room, bathtube, near Jonker Walk.
- Chong King (6/5): Hotel not suitable for seniors - There is no lift in the hotel, not so suitable for senior citizens to claim 3 floors of stairs.
- Joe Ong Kah (8/5): - Grab does not recognise Cheng Ho Residence as a location on its Grab map, the owner was aware. The switch between shower and bath was faulty, lubricating does not work. The aircon shuts down by itself betwen 1-2am making the room warm and stuff, causing me to wake up in the middle of the night.
- Sana (4/5): Not for long term stay - Not very clean looking, especially the bathroom. Looked very dated. Our shower head was changed after we were in the room for 1 hour rather than be changed before we checked in (they knew it was faulty).
The toilet douche was also faulty as it sprayed out more water from the source than the nozzle, hence flooding the whole bathroom.
No shower curtain.
Luckily we were only there for 1 night and couldn't wait to leave
- Vinx (8/5): Weekend getaway - Overall, the stay is considered pleasant. However, there are some hit and miss e.g. the bed could be damaged and requires a change. The key card slot is not functioning well at times. Wasn't mentioned that the main gate will be locked after 12am. Nonetheless the location is great for tourist wanting to walk around jonker street as it is a stone's throw away.
- Joe Ong Kah (8/5): - I enjoyed the quietness and spacious room. However, upon arrival at 12 noon, I was informed that I was not able to early check in, despite sending a message 1 month ahead. Due to the pandemic, the residence no longer provide breakfast and housekeeping. By my 3rd and last night, both my thrash bins were so full that I have to inform the receptionist to have someone to clear it. Its wifi connection was at its best. Due to wet weather for all 4 days, I manage to use the room and wifi alot.
- gregory (8/5): - Maggie helped us get our footing in Melaka and see it with different eyes. Thank you
- Vijay (10/5): Highly rlRecommended - I would definitely come back with this residences . Its well taken cared and had a homely vibe . Highly recommended
- Mary (6/5): - Great location!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice located and excellent personnel at front desk
- Joe (6/5): - I like the front counter staff as they are friendly and accomodative. The hotel managent totally forgot my reservation thus given me an upgrade, queen bed with a bathtub. Next day, my room was not clean. When approach the front counter, I was informed the cleaner had gone for the day. Do take note the towels as some did have rust stains. Breakfast was below average.
- Vanessa (8/5): Great location - convenient location and place was well maintained.
- Tan (8/5): - Value for money
- LK (8/5): - Nice simple hotel. Room is clean but the pillows had bad smell and the house keeping had managed to change to new ones.
Breakfast is decent, more like home cooked but limited variety.
Car parking only allowed 4 cars and first come basis.
- Ong (10/5): GREAT LOCATION! - Everything was really good, simple breakfast, great location, the rooms were at the further back of the house, so it's not noisy at night. Nothing really to complain much about with the price I'm paying actually. Oh ya, there's no lift in the hotel. If you have large baggage, with elderly or disabilities then it will really be very inconvenient
- Chok (6/5): - When enter the room, fridge not cool and water heater not hot..after complaint they fix..Overall is ok
- Jeff (8/5): - Very nice hotel and very convenient just 5 min walk to jonker street.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Simple but comfortable stay. Room is clean. Excellence location in jonker area
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hair everywhere in toilet - Toilet not clean enough
- Ai (10/5): Great location and wonderful staff - I have a great experience staying at Cheng Ho. In fact, it was my 2nd visit. This time round, the staff showed excellent service by helping us with my kids when we went to buy dinner. Also, one of the staff even went extra mile to safe keep one of the things which my kid left behind and saw us along jonker street on the next day and approached us to return it to us! We were amazed how sharp and attentive the staff is. Great effort!
- LoveCloudy (10/5): Homely feel and convenient hotel. - Homely feel and convenient hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms are very clean and big. 5 of us stays in a family room facing Jonker street, we can see the sunday market from our window which is just 3mins walk into Jonker street.
Only inconvenient is that this hotel does not have a lift, so the 2nd level is not suitable for
elderly as the stairway is very small and steep.
- Allan (10/5): - Very happy with the Hotel -- Simple and Clean.
Wifi a bit problem but not big deal to me coz got my own Data.
Staff polite and helpful.
- soh (10/5): Friendly and warm staying - We are very feel welcome and warm staying in the hotel.
All staffs are friendly, helpful and warm like family members to us.
We feel like part of the family instead customer.
We hope to come back soon if time permits.
Thank you for being understanding of my mum condition, allowed us to stay in the bigger room without charge us extra.
Thank you.
- Colette (10/5): Fab fab place - Friendly staff, very accommodating to our requests .
Great location ...breakfast was local and nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice local breakfast and location, no lift - not convenient to carry heavy luggage.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The best thing about this place is location. If you are willing to stay outside the historical central area, there's much better places for your money. The cleanliness is so so - especially the bathroom.
- Hui Ping (6/5): Pluses and minuses - We booked two rooms at the same time but they said they received two separate bookings via Expedia and hence our hotel rooms were located at different ends of the
Hotel. My comforter smelt like someone’s body odour so I asked them to change it. One of the towels didn’t look so clean. My room was at the older end whereas my friends’ Room was at the newly built side. My cupboard smelt musty. We had the ‘attic’ room that had character but faced the road where the noisy Melaka trishaws passed by - it bothered my Friend a lot. Otherwise, the location was fabulous. Just 3 minutes walk to restaurants and Jonkers Walk. Even has parking at the back. The service desk was friendly and helpful. If you stay here ask for a room at the back in the new wing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel and good location - Nice hotel and good location.... located at jonker and nearby have some carpark available but need to paid by self.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Still needs to keep standards during peak season - The room wasn't very clean, but I suspect it was due to the holiday peak season that the cleaning was rushed. I found a used toothbrush behind the sink and the bathtub and table weren't wiped down - there were hairs and sticky marks on those surfaces. Otherwise, the location at Jonker Walk was reallt convenient.
- Chai Lai (8/5): - Nice place to stay within all the happenings in Jonker street. Parking is limited though. Didn't know both rooms I booked were not adjoining. I should have asked. Breakfast spread good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): good location but need improvement on cleanliness - location is good.
breakfast is lousy.
toilet is not very clean. shower curtains has mold
no hairdryer provided
- Muhammad (8/5): - Good environment with reasonable price even on holiday season. Locate near to facilities, historical buildings and etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Simple and Convenient - A good hotel, in the middle of everywhere, simple comfortable room. Definitely not luxurious but you feel the amazingly beautiful Chinese heritage in the hotel and around it. Hotel staff easy and co operative. Only difficult car parking if you have a car. I will recommend this hotel for sure.
- Tang (10/5): Feel like home! - Felt welcomed and taken care of by the hotel staff. Located at the Jonker walk, this hotel is easy access to Melaka major attractions. The hotel felt like home with greenery around the public area and wooden made furnitures. Spacious, clean and well ventilated bedroom, good water pressure and heating in the bathroom. Local breakfast was served, simple and good. The only part which we think can be improved would be the WiFi reception from our room and the clarity of the TV channel. We will recommend this place to our friends and family. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - clean and very large room! One block walk to Jonker night market. Walkable to laundry, grocery, pharmacy and plenty of shops and restaraunts.
- Low (8/5): Highly Recommend - Room was spacious and very clean. Staff were friendly and very helpful. 100m away from Jonker night market, therefore away from the noise. GrabCar cost $4 to Pahlawan Megamall, $7 to Melaka Sentral. Great value for location and service.
- Mah (8/5): Thank you Cheng Ho Residences!! - Service was great! Staff was friendly! Very near to Jonker Street!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant stay - Perfect location, nice staff, clean and spacious room.
- John (8/5): So long... the hotel - Overall is good. Just the washroom is to small for me.
- sha (10/5): Comfortable, clean , quiet, and bid enough - I would say that it is very worthy in such high quality, just like the title of my view.
However , wifi cannot work steadily, I could not use it for a very long time. And the hotel out of power at several times at night , maybe it is bacause of the violent storms.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good holiday - We booked a family room for 4 but the room we got has a faulty door. We were stuck inside the hotel room for half an hour before help came. After that we were transferred to 2 twin sharing rooms. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located at a very convenient spot. We had a great family holiday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was great as it was located 100m from Jonker street. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking was a life saver as street parking was a nightmare over the weekend.
Air conditioner in the room was a bit noisy and the beds a tad too hard for my liking
- Lee (8/5): - Wonderful location for our whole family to spend 1 night 2 days in JonkerStreet of Malacca
- man (10/5): Superb location - Close to jonker walk. Room is clean. I had a good quiet sleep night. Nice staffs. Good breakfast at beautiful hotel puri.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Location wins it! - Good location, friendly and knowledgeable staff! Good choice when you plan for a budget trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Price is affordable even with the Hotel is next to jonker street within walking distance.
