The next morning I asked for a taxi and she tried to charge a finders fee to make a phone call. I would much rather stay somewhere else

Chris (10/5): Plastic, but extremely well-run; good staging point for airport connection. - Ultra-modern plastic chain-looking decor adorned with brightly colored cartoon characters, soulless and commercial, but unusually with-it management and smooth operation that is not typical for Thai lodging. Check-in was easy and everything in the room worked perfectly. Location near Surat Airport is perfect for overnight stays connecting with flights. Convenient minimart, Thai food stalls (open until roughly 8-9pm), and coffee shop next door. Beautiful rubber tree orchard visible from back room windows (but that's the only beauty you'll find in this area). Due to location behind gas station, there was a rotten egg smell sometimes, but the room aircon seemed to filter that out. Room had no tissue (had to ask).

They arranged us a taxi to go to KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK and KHLONG PHANOM NATIONAL PARK (1500/1000bath). They also arranged us a taxi to go to the airport (350 bath) It was a bit far from the main tourist attractions

Amelia (8/5): Very good - Handy, roadside hotel on the way to Khao Sok after our late afternoon flight into Surat Thani. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with nice bathrooms and AC. The next morning, the kind staff organized a very comfortable van to take us all the way to Khao Sok. Just be aware that this is next to a truck stop, as mentioned in some of the other reviews, but this didn't bother us at all, and we all slept soundly. There is a pharmacy, Topps, cafe and souvenir shop right next door to the hotel.

Frank (7/5): Good for a one stop over, but I believe there are other and better options. - The price is good for this type of hotel located at a petrol station in the outskirts of Surattani. The backside room was quiet and clean & bathroom was also clean and double bed comfortable. TV only in Thai language. Good and silent airco. Sufficient parking. Friendly reception staff. There are no decent restaurants nearby, so if you arrive late there are only a few fast snacks or dry noodle soup to mix with hot water. The breakfast is in a (clean) coffee shop.

Michael (10/5): Nice night at Lephant - Although this is a simple hotel, good for a night before travelling to Samui Island the next morning. The room is very clean, nice and comfortable sheets, cool and clean air con, clean toilet, hot and nice shower, very helpful service from the reception. The trip to pier is 900 baht per car to ferry pier cheaper than from airport service 1,600 baht. Strongly encourage anyone who wants to spend a night in Surat Thani. Next to hotel is a nice restaurant serving cheap and top quality sumptuous food and drink.
Kasper (8/5): If simple and effective is what you need - Lephant delivers simple and clean stay. Adjacent you will find plenty of food options. It is though some distance to anything really interesting. The hotel is constructed so that there is only your hotel room door and a hallway, separating the outside and you. So if you are a light sleeper, you might have some trouble falling asleep.
