Guest Reviews
- Laura F. (9/5): Struttura molto carina!
- Clare (8/5): - Friendly staff. A

❤️ definitely try the restaurant, beautiful meals 😋 There wasn't any negative side too our stay ..
Loved the place and the people.
- Traci (8/5): -
- Conway (8/5): - It's a very old place but full of a lot of the old beams and wonky walls and floors which I loved.
- Barbara (8/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): - Nice friendly staff 👍 No food on a Monday night
WiFi not good
- Boaz (10/5): -
- Nikki (2/5): - We left after being there for only a few mins. Was dirty and old. Was poo stains in the toilet just left
- Vicky (8/5): -
- Peter (7/5): - Breakfast was good hi
- Emma (7/5): Great location for a wedding we were attending - Big room, comfy bed and lovely staff Shower a little temperamental !
- Holmes (8/5): -
- Lauren (1/5): - Cancelled my stay an hour before checking in. I travelled to the location and they then decided to cancel.
- Jackie (8/5): Lovely Village Location with Exceptionally Friendly Staff. - Staff were really friendly. They've only been running the place for 12 weeks and have lots of plans for the future. Breakfast was lovely. Had a great night's sleep. The bathroom was cold, it was -5 outside though.
- Carter (10/5): -
- Susan (9/5): - Ideal location for us. Staff very welcoming and informative. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day Nothing
- Liz (9/5): My son and I stayed here overnight while attending a wedding in Long Marston. It was exact what we needed and very good - Nice location. Clean.
Good value for money Nothing
- Sam (8/5): -
- Terry (8/5): - Olde world charm
- Rachael (6/5): Needs work - The cooked breakfast was wonderful and excellent quality but I would of liked a little more continental variety When booking you get to choose which bedroom you would like to stay in, I chose the bedroom with the four poster bed but on arrival we were given a completely different room that to be honest felt like we were in a cupboard in the loft. Apparently they dont have the four poster bed anymore and are waiting for the website to update but I feel they could of at least notified me of this via email. The window was too little and low to look out of and the only light in the bathroom didnt work, they didnt have the correct bulb for it so we were left in the dark. We were given a free desert to make up for it and they were very apologetic but its not great having to use your phone torch whilst on the toilet. The bathroom was also freezing as the towel rail wasn't on and the window was an old wooden one with a broken plastic vent in that constantly let's in cold air.
There are two ladies that I assumed run the pub, the one was very friendly but the other gave the impression she didnt want to be there and didnt seem to have people skills.
We had a meal in their that night and it was lovely but when paying the bill I was charged almost double and when I checked the receipt I had been charged for the table of four that was sat across from us. I was given a refund for the difference after I queried it.
- Duncan Ball (8/5): The Crown pub on tour - Warm friendly atmosphere great hosts love the old traditional building the food was exceptional real VFM highly recommended especially the amazing duvet 😴 Being 6,2 watch your head 😂
- nigel (8/5): Could be a fantastic venue and retreat. Just needs a little work honing the finer details - Size of room. Fact that there was bath and separate shower A bit chaotic regarding settling up for food. Was due to collect breakfast to take with me, but at 10pm after I'd had a bath I found a note asking me to settle straightaway, which meant getting clothed and returning to the bar. Unsure why this was necessary given that I was due to see staff in the morning anyway.
Also, the rooms have a Henry VIII theme with each having a wife's name. On outside of door there is no name, no number, nothing even to indicate that it's a guests room. This drew my attention when first being shown the room. During the night there were 2 separate occasions where people tried to enter the door, which luckily was locked. It would be a simple matter to make the doors unmistakably guestroom doors with identifiers. Could easily result in embarrassing situations if left as is.
Overall, the place is great and I wish the new management well. This is merely constructive criticism which I hope they take on board
- Aguado (7/5): Genial - La habitación muy amplia y limpia. Se veía bastante nueva Que hay que entrar por el pub. Teníamos al lado de la ventana a los chavales fumando
- jason (10/5): Day trip - Very nice location and lovely venue
- Sarah (7/5): - Lovely old inn in rural location The bathroom could be updated and deep cleaned
- Roger (8/5): Made so welcome and would stay again. - We were made really welcome - we arrived after Sunday food service had finished but staff had kept 2 roast meals for us - very thoughtful and kind. Our meal was delicious. Shower rooms a little tired but perfectly functional .
- Anthony (9/5): A comfortable country inn near Stratford-upon-Avon. - The Inn is a lovely quaint country hostelry in a traditional village. We received a friendly greeting and were shown to our spacious ground floor room which we thought was very good, with a queen size bed and a settee and had an en suite with both a bath and a shower. The breakfast was all we could have asked for, within reason, and was freshly prepared by our friendly host. The Inn is under new management and we would definitely recommend it. No complains whatsoever.
- Freeman (10/5): -
- Zak (10/5): - We were late but welcomed by the lovely staff at the College Arms, which I understand are under new management recently.
The room I stayed is was good and had everything I needed for the 2 nights I was there.
We had breakfast in the morning (which was spot on) I cannot fault any part of it, best part was the bacon for me, or the sausages. Both were great.
And throughout my stay the staff were lovely, I would happily stay again.
- Simon (1/5): Don’t know Pop couldn’t accommodate us. They had to shut so we had to find a different location. - Don’t know pub had trouble so it couldn’t accommodate us so we had to find somewhere else Don’t know pub couldn’t accommodate us because they had troubles they had to shut
- Julian (1/5): Disappointed n 768 - The booking was cancelled by Luke at college arms so we had to book elsewhere. Please refund any money we've paid Don't know, didn't stay there
- Lois (7/5): -
- Dean (10/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): Probably be a nice place when they get their act together - The ale in the pub was good and the temporary manager did his best.
Some of the locals were quite engaging and made for a reasonable evening No kitchen meant no evening meal and no breakfast.
One of the female locals was obviously a menace and the temporary manager assisted her in leaving the pub.
- Mark (1/5): Bad experience due to Booking.com overbooking and not telling me. - Nothing it was overbooked by Booking .com I never got to stay, as the place was over booked and Booking.com never informed me, as a result I travelled all the way there and ended up with no accommodation. Complete waste of time, fuel and money.
- Martin (6/5): - Food was pretty good Being woken up at 1 am by the techno music from downstairs.
The first shower was hot, the second shower was cold.
- Paul (1/5): Booked this hotel, 2 double rooms for one night, on arrival this hotel was found to be under const - Booked this hotel, 2 double rooms for one night, on arrival this hotel was found to be under construction, they only had one room, and when showed us the 2nd room it did not even have a bed & it was disgusting , the Staff did not know what was going on, and not very professional at all, with all this going on and no room after they took my booking? , we decided to leave, and go to another Hotel.
- Lauren (1/5): Avoid at all costs - Nothing Everything - Arrived at the College Arms just after 9pm, agreed check-in time - booked over a month in advance. Turned up after a three hour journey to be “greeted” by two people with no customer service skills. When asked where I check in I was told “she’s over there somewhere” and then as I turned round, I was just told “I’ve got no rooms”.
I tried to explain I had it pre booked and they just tried to blame Booking.com for an “overbooking”. She could not care less. I was then left stranded at 9:30pm on a Saturday night, as a woman on my own, with little to no phone signal in an area I don’t know with nowhere to stay.
I immediately contacted Booking.com who have not been able to contact the hotel. They couldn’t get through to them, and were only able to offer me an additional £22 to book another hotel, which were all over double the price of my original booking as I had to book for the same day, so I’m not £140 out of pocket.
Avoid the College Arms at all cost. I strongly hope Booking.com and similar platforms remove this establishment from their listings. Rude, unhelpful, and no customer service.
- Dave (8/5): Suites us for our needs as a 1 night location - Very friendly staff in a great building
Lovely features , excellent service Nil
- Stephens (10/5): -
- Doug (8/5): Great time, sat in the garden bar a had a tiple or 2. - An amazing breakfast. Very friendly staff.
- Alison (6/5): Average accommodation shows in the price. - Could be cleaner. Bed comfortable. Not particularly welcoming atmosphere. Good breakfast. Broken bathroom window with sharp edges. Did get moved to another room. Could do with information in the rooms.
- colin (6/5): Could of been a lot better - Stayed in room downstairs.Plus point a bath and a shower unfortunatly the shower had a variety of hairs still in it. bed was comfy. Some dust issues in bathroom too.sitting in the bar at the window lots of dead flies on window sill not good. The chef very unreliable did not show up to cook our breakfast on friday. Or monday we was not happy at all
- Caroline (4/5): - Location Paid for breakfast & no sign of it!!!!
Broken glass window in bathroom
- Lawrence (1/5): I’ll make it short “we didn’t stay” in fact we gave back the key - Nothing, the pictures don’t represent what it’s actually like in person, it’s too noisy as it’s above a pub. We booked a room with a four poster bed but we were told it didn’t even exist. They need to update their pictures I have learnt something here today read the reviews thoroughly before booking a place to stay, l am going to be honest my partner and l didn’t stay in the room, we gave back our key and we looked for a different hotel.
- Andy (10/5): - Lovely old pub and village
Was welcomed by the staff and local people
Had a lovely stay
- Chris (3/5): Unceasing noise throughout the night and limited breakfast option and service - The staff were very friendly, especially the cleaner who also did some work behind the bar and served us on the last day at breakfast.
The building was 16th century so very atmospheric and pretty.
The bed was really comfy and clean. There was no choice for breakfast. It was full cooked breakfast or toast. We had to ask for everything as nothing was set up for the first 2 days and there were long waits for service. On the first day we were given dirty cups to use. They had obviously not been cleaned from the last users and were cracked. 1 still had dregs in the bottom. I had to ask for clean cups. There were no plates given for 2 of my family who wanted toast, and no jam or anything else to put on the toast until I asked.
My main concern was that, as a beautiful old building, it obviously did not have air conditioning or any fans in the rooms. We were there during a really hot weekend and the rooms were stifling so we kept our windows open fully. However, there were tables right outside our window and the pub seemed to followed no licensing rules. We expected a bit of noise as we had booked a pub, so expected things to quieten down after 23;00 or 23;30. However the pub had loud music playing and people still drinking, chatting and laughing right outside our window until 01;30 on the first night, and then 05:30 on the 2nd night. We were totally unable to sleep on the 2nd night as the noise was so loud. The people outside and the music were so loud they might as well have been in our room. The 3rd night was slightly better but the landlady and one male member of her team were still downstairs talking until the early hours of the morning.
- Balesh (6/5): Decent. Could be so much better. - The staff was kind enough to give us their fan when we requested for it.
Good location close to the cotswolds villages and ample parking space. The broken window of the room. No fans or air conditioning in the rooms makes it difficult during hot days. But the staff was sweet and kind enough to give us their fan for a night. Not really worth the money charged.
- Janet (1/5): Pretty village, clean and comfortable room but lack of information-meet and greet - shame!! - The village was beautiful and enjoyed the walks. Also the member of staff that we were in contact with Mandy, was very helpful and made our stay acceptable We paid for bed and breakfast but apparently we were told when asked the evening before when breakfast would be that the ovens were out of action and nothing could be done until after the weekend. We were offered bacon rolls which were bought in to us by the kind member of staff on the first morning. We were not offered a deduction for breakfast and full payment was taken.
- Lisa (6/5): Noisy stay - Great location and room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated though bathroom need some maintenance shower door handle broken and blinds didn’t close to window ledge. Was quite noisy on my visit so unfortunately didn’t make for a restful stay.
- Geoffrey (8/5): Very good -
- Heidi (3/5): We won’t be coming back. We do not recommend this accommodation. - It’s location and the look on the outside Tired interior, played very very loud bar music until 1.30am. Had to ask the Land Lady twice to turn the music off.
Room very tired, shower door broken, bed mattress stained, bathroom blind broken, emergency escape light above door very bright, room not particularly clean.
- Adrian (2/5): Non-existent. Booked the day before, arrived on schedule to find there was no room. - Nothing very much really except outwardly it’s a nice old building. It would have been good to have had a room available when we got there. In fairness there had been a message to say they had a problem
but it was so badly worded it read like a scam. Maybe they had double - booked, who knows? We didn’t think much of the place once we were inside anyway. Run down in appearance and altogether unwelcoming. No thanks!
- Charles (7/5): Clean and good rooms very load music till closing - outside seating area needs a good sweep and tidy very grubby - The bedroom was clean and comfortable Could hear every sound coming from the pub very load music played until closing time .
Not the best if you want to sleep by 9pm No chance of that
- John (9/5): Great atmosphere - Great location, great atmosphere A bit noisy from the bar
- Doug. (7/5): Good -
- Alan (5/5): Poor … you need to up your game. - Room was tired and could have been cleaner. At breakfast there was no cereal, fruit or juice offered and no vegetarian option.. just full English wittiest without meat!! Rather than a pot of tea/coffee we were provided with a drink in a mug made by the chef . Room cleanliness. Breakfast.. as above.
- David (6/5): Pleasant - The staff the location The poor condition of the bathroom
- James (1/5): Bad -
- Luke (10/5): it was lovely - breakfast was lovely and nicely served lovely waitress serving on Monday night ment to get her nomber every thing was perfect
- Camille (8/5): Very good - Great pub! Very tasty food, brillant breakfast, super nice staff. Quiet and beautiful area. The bedroom/bathroom was small and old but that's expected from an old inn. It was nevertheless well arranged, nicely decorated, and clean. Our shower did not work very well, with either boiling or cold water, and making a really loud noise. Nothing too bad but could do with repair.
- Moyra (9/5): Hotel is 6 miles outside of Stratford upon Avon but my visit was to see a relative in Lower Quinton. Very nicely decorat - Very authentic and traditional with lots of character. Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): 100% recommend anyday of the week book it now - Clean comfortable amazing food views are amazing friendly family friendly warm welcoming great drink selections lovely rooms great staff
A big thankyou to the staff for the warm welcome the chef for amazing food the morning staff for the breakfast and send off can't thankyou all enough for our stay never felt more welcome and will be back again
100% recommend this place and more Can't say didnt like very low WiFi but you are right out in the country side so can't moan
- Perry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Leslie (3/5): Poor -
- Emma (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (6/5): - Room was fine and staff helpful. There was a lot of loud music playing until after midnight so early sleep was impossible+ ok after 12.30
- Beverley (8/5): Very good - A wonderful 2 night stay. A beautiful location. Very welcoming and friendly staff. A little tired but very clean. Would definitely stay again.
- Linda (6/5): Rooms dated, breakfast ok - Nice village location, rooms above a pub, breakfast ok
- Kerry (1/5): Cancelled my booking at the last minute - I never go to find out because they cancelled my booking at the last minute leaving me stuck without accommodation. Never got to see it
- Lynda (1/5): Bad - I booked a room last minute through booking.com. When I got there the room was not available! They had a bathroom leak in the morning in my allocated room and said they had asked you to take the room off the site which obviously hadn't happened. I then had to drive miles to find somewhere else. Got there very stressed and paid much more for it. VERY UNHAPPY 🙁
- Philip (7/5): Convenient and comfortable - It was convenient and good value for money Bit dated
- Iona (4/5): Lovely room for the night but loud music kept us awake. - Beautiful village, 10 mins from Stratford. Easy check in. Lovely spacious room and decor, free parking and WiFi. Unfortunately there was VERY loud music (and shouting) from the bar. As the room backed onto the bar, this made it impossible to sleep and felt as if we had the music full blast in the room itself! We had to leave our room at 1.30am to ask the bar staff to turn the music down on one night. Might have been a one off but was disappointing.
- Rich (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms very nice. Staff very friendly. Plenty of parking. Great location. Struggled to get cold water out of the cold water tap
- Joanne (1/5): Wouldn’t book there again - Didn’t stay as was told 3 hrs before checking in that the room was double booked.to have to book another property.told it’s booking.coms fault.happens often. N/a
- Russell (2/5): Very poor - Location Far to hot in the room
Both taps on the sink ran hot toilet was hot no ventilation in bathroom smelled damp.
- Valerie (8/5): Very good -
- Beverley (2/5): Very disappointing and misleading on booking.com website - Breakfast was not available or offered. This is not made clear prior to booking. Stayed here previously. Sadly not suitable for overnight guests as priority appears to be a good time with locals late night drinking.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - Very nice room and comfortable bed, decent size en suite. Quite far from centre of town, no phone signal indoors.
- John (8/5): Good food and local pub atmosphere - I have given a fair marking as the staff were extremely helpful, but I didn't actually stay because Booking.Com had overbooked the College Arms. Not the staff's fault and they did their best to help me find an alternative stay; however I did have a meal there (was getting too late to get ded where I ended up) and thank-you College Arms; Food was excellent and I enjoyed the pub atmosphere. I will be back to stay (but will book direct!). Booking.Com over-booking the College Arms so they couldn't accommodate me!
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (2/5): - Firstly, the building is absolutely beautiful, and the ness is one of the best pints I've had in a long time.
Now to the nitty gritty - On check-in, we were told that the room we had booked wasn't available, but they would place us in another, larger room. The room was spacious and clean, and we were pleased with everything. Okay, the bed creaked and groaned with every breath, but 8ve slept in worse. We thought little of it and went out to our event in fantastic spirits.
Arriving back late at night, we were hit with a cacophony of music at a volume that shook the furniture in our room. Fair enough, we thought, that's what you get for booking a room at a pub - we'll wait it out and then get some well needed shut eye. Unfortunately, we didn't allow for the pub having a 'lock in' and playing the music at full volume well into the early hours of the morning, when my partner snapped and complained to staff. I don't think that I'll be able to ever be able to listen to Carly Simon or Billy Joel again without wanting to force feed somebody their own knees. Despite this debacle, there was no apology, and we were left seething and unable to sleep.
Heading into breakfast later that morning, we were faced with condiments that were covered with dust and hair and food (which like the evening before), which was rubbery and inedible.
I know that some of this was my fault for booking accommodation at a pub, and failing to take heed of reviews, but there must be better places out there.
- Jasmin (1/5): Bad -
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- The (2/5): VERY loud music and unprofessional staff ruined a potentially nice stay - Beautiful on the outside. Really nice location, about 6 miles from Stratford Upon Avon in a really nice little village.
The room was cosy and facilities were dated but fine for a very old pub. Very unprofessional staff who played VERY loud music until after 2am. Please understand that when I say the staff were playing the music, I don't mean normal music from the bar. I mean the woman who worked there kept playing bits of random songs on her phone, but through the bar sound system and very, very loudly, often repeating songs or only playing parts of them. The bar is supposed to close at 11, and so I went down at 12:10 to requested they turn the music down, but was met by quite an intimidating scene of the woman sitting in corner surrounded by drunk customers, and who was entirely unapologetic for the noise, telling me they have a music license until 1am. She did turn it down but only for the time it took my get back to my room and then it went back up. This went on until around 2:30 ( I recorded it for proof) and by then it was accompanied by loud laughing, silly screaming and lots of banging. All this on top of a customer deliberately throwing a glass earlier in the evening, which smashed with force very close to our table, made for quite an uncomfortable experience staying in the hotel.
Its such a shame because it has the potential to be a lovely place but the staff are massively letting the owners down. Would definitely not recommend.
- Rear (9/5): Superb - Very good, just right Internet in room
- Tamara (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (5/5): Passable - Host/staff were nice.
The location was nice.
Free car parking.
Plenty of bottled water, tea, coffee biscuits and toiletries.
Comfy bed.
Good towels
Keypad entry so easy to come and go when wanted.
Relaxed atmosphere.
Room warm, once radiator gets hot. The room wasn't the one shown when I clicked on manging booking. Very disappointed wasn't as nice as expected.
Not to our taste the decor, that's our problem I suppose.
No wifi or phone signal in room.
The taps in bathroom gave out hot water in both.
Kettle in weird position next to TV?
Walls quite thin. Could hear gentleman next door coughing and snoring most the night.
Headboard wasn't attached to bed so felt like couldn't move around around without it knocking on wall.
No main light, just side table lamps.
Ripped paper/hole in ceiling?
Came down for breakfast strong smell of dog in the morning.
Sausage on the breakfast had a weird taste both of us couldn't eat them. Shame rest was nice.
- Nicholas (6/5): Pleasant - Good value, clean room and bedding. Hot water in the shower. No Internet. Tired furnishings. No breakfast available.
- Melanie (9/5): Superb - Cleanliness, location, staff and patrons. Main light in room was broken so doing make up was "interesting".
- Mandy (7/5): No internet for the owners having a few teathing problems but could not apologise enough. Very friendly - The rooms were clean & comfortable. Very beautiful property The rooms are above the bar so you do hear some noise from the bar. But I wouldn’t have expected it to be quiet. Once the bar closed it’s sooo quiet
