Guest Reviews

- Ariana (10/5): Hidden Gem in BallyVaughn - This place was a gem of a find! Definitely a hidden treasure in the sweetest little town in Ireland. The owners couldn’t be more warm and welcoming. From the natural spring to fetch your own water to the honesty bar to fetch your own beverage after a long day of exploring…do not hesitate to book a stay here! Wolfgang will welcome with a warm smile and a hug when you leave. We cannot wait to return one day! N/A
- Mark (10/5): Highly recommended wonderful accommodation in a beautiful location - Amazing accommodation in a beautiful location and the hosts were so welcoming. Breakfast was of such quality too.
- Maria (10/5): Enchanting - Incredible view and windows in the Sun Room. Loved the honor system. An ice bucket we could bring to the room would be nice.
- Tracy (10/5): - Beautiful setting and fun to find off the main road. Breakfast was gorgeous and yummy with lit candles on all the tables. Wolfgang is a charming attentive gracious host.
- cedric (9/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Isabelle (9/5): -
- Lars (10/5): - You should book this spot. Nothing
- Kristia (9/5): Wonderful stay in the countryside! - Wonderful quiet place with a medieval feeling to it in the middle of the countryside which was very clean and cute and the host Wolfgang is wonderful!! Breakfast is also great, also a few restaurants few kms away, easily accessible by car. Older property feeling, we personally love it but if you are not into that then you won’t enjoy this.
- Mike (9/5): Amazing place; fantastic owner - The building and owner were amazing. Breakfast was excellent. Welcome by Wolfgang was amazing No TV in room. But too distant from the town for dinner.
- William (10/5): Wonderful - Great room Great breakfast great staff Wolfgang and Maria were incredible
- Niamh (10/5): Great stay delighted we found this little gem ! - Staff were absolutely excellent the property is beautiful and a wonderful location !! Very helpful breakfast was lovely and very well presented. Sheets ,bathroom , all rooms were very clean ! The bed was a little uncomfortable
- Holly (9/5): - Amazing stay, would definitely return. Candle lit breakfast in a stunning room in a stunning house. Old world, extremely comfortable and such a relaxing place. Thank you Wolfgang. Leaving 😂
- Seleva (10/5): A place with the atmosphere of an old castle - Amazing place!
Definitely worth a stop here. The owners are friendly, and the interiors and overall atmosphere are great. We especially liked the common areas, where you can find games, books, and even buy wine. Breakfast was huge and delicious (Traditional Irish + fresh bread, flakes and fruits)
For dinner, you can drive to a nearby town, which is about 15 minutes away.
- Hilary (10/5): - The relaxed atmosphere, a unique vibe. Excellent breakfast.

- Corey (10/5): One of the most unique, and beautiful places I stayed at my entire trip - This was an amazingly beautiful property. Wolfgang was so friendly and inviting. Nothing.
- Blayke (10/5): Will be back! - Loved the location, the view and the comfort of always coming back to a fire being lit while winding down in the evening. Maria and Wolfgang were amazing hosts and the property shows. Breakfast was superb. Beds could be better but not horrible!
- Khoi (10/5): -
Nulla
- Gray (10/5): I would come back every time. Highly recommended - So interesting and comfortable. Nothing
- Chelsea (6/5): Beautiful furnishings, nice breakfast but some important things are missing! - The building was lovely and the rooms including the breakfast room and the public lounge areas were beautiful with lovely furnishings which gave the place a really nice unique atmosphere. I liked playing chess in one of the rooms with a nice live lit fire. The hosts were nice. Breakfast was really nice and liked how you can have continental and a cooked to order breakfast. Firstly and the most important thing was the rooms we booked were freezing cold, when contacted the hosts did put the heating on but after we returned from dinner for the night it was still not warm. The rooms were quite small not a lot of space for a suitcase. The beds were also small, not that comfortable but the worst thing was that it felt like no one had used that side of the house in a while between the toilet flush being broken, heating off and the fact that the bed sheets smelled bad like damp or musty, which was really off putting to put your face on a pillow that smelt like that. This should have been checked and fresh sheets been put on. Bathroom didn’t match the rest of the furnishings or look so it felt mismatched and there were tiles broken in the bath/shower which felt run down. The toilet flush stopped working and we had to turn some lever thing for it to fill up again. No notes anywhere about how this worked or why it would have stopped we just figured it out ourselves. Overall these things made our stay a little uncomfortable.
- Patricia (8/5): Lovely relaxed stay , friendly hosts, great location. - Comfie room and relaxed atmosphere.
Open fire and cosy salon to relax & hang out in the evenings.
Delicious fresh water spring in the house - could not get enough of the water! Location is amazing in heart of the Burren , but not within walking distance of Ballyvaughan . Prepare to taxi / drive to restaurants, but it's not far.
- Laurie (10/5): Excellent location, amazing surroundings and welcoming hosts! Wonderful! ☺️🇨🇦🇮🇪 - Absolutely perfect - such a cool place and amazing hosts! 🤓 Nothing to dislike
- Ken (9/5): - Great location and staff. Old world charm endless antiques and curiosities. Owners lovely
- Deirdre (9/5): Beautiful place and friendly owners to stay with - Unique
- Hendrik (9/5): -
- Christina (10/5): Comfy and cozy! Had the best stay! - Our room was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Our hosts were super friendly and extremely welcoming. We hadn't used Bed and Breakfasts prior to this trip so this experience was a wonderful surprise and made our trip all the more memorable. We would definitely stay here again. I wish we had been able to stay longer but our schedule just wouldn't allow it. It is rather remote but that's is what makes this place unique. I can't think of anything I didn't like about staying here.
- Andrea (10/5): Calming. - A room with a view!
- Michael (10/5): Charming and so different! - The location is wonderful! The property is so homely, comfortable and yet eccentric! The hosts are welcoming and warm! Nothing!
- Barbara (10/5): Perfect, peaceful and nourishing in every way. - Very intimate yet private at the same time. Wolfgang and Maria are as exceptionally gracious as their property is beautiful and welcoming. The photo of warm bread sums up our delicious breakfast experience. Looking forward to suggesting this property to friends and family. The most favorite location we’ve ever stayed.
- Miriam (9/5): Lovely memorable stay in this beautiful place. will look forward to a return visit in the autumn. - This is a beautiful guest house in a slightly out of the way location. If you like peace and quiet this is perfect. Quiet areas to sit, read and relax. Some very unique features to the house. Lovely courteous host. Very enjoyable home cooked breakfast.
- Hilary (8/5): - Nice and accommodating owners. Huge room. Very clean and private. Great breakfast Too far from center of town
- Anne (10/5): Wonderful! - Beautiful inn! Several beautiful rooms in main house to relax in with comfy chairs and a fireplace. The room was well appointed and the bedding was some of the nicest I encountered on my trip. Breakfast was first rate! Next time, I’ll request a room in the main house just for the convenience.
- Paolo (10/5): -
- Jean-Christophe (2/5): OK for a short stay - Good location
Good breakfast Room was very uncomfortable, poorly lit, not very clean, beds small and uncomfortable. Felt more like a student dormitory than a real B&B. No charm and no quality.
- Ulrich (9/5): - Tolle asiatisch inspirierte Einrichtung. Nichts
- gérard (5/5): -
- Eden (8/5): Lovely unique place to stay with great breakfast and lovely host/hostess - lovely, unique spot with very nice host/hostess. They went out of their way. Very nice breakfast and also a spot to sit in front of fire in the evening with a bar area you can self serve noting what you drank (to settle your bill later). We enjoyed sitting with other guests in the evening and the room was nice too. was just a little cold but there was a lovely, well made bed and plenty of blankets. room was cool for my taste but that is my personal preference.
- Ella (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - We happened to find this gem and we will definitely be back. We were only there for one night, which was definitely not long enough. Gorgeous views, cozy rooms and delicious breakfast!
- Shannon Rae (9/5): We were trater amazingly, the food was wonderul. There is a natural sping in the main house you can drink from 🥰 - What a wonderful location and setting.
- Michael (10/5): - Staff excellent. Grounds and room beautiful. Breakfast was the best. Beautiful and relaxing environment. Very small bath.
- Jackie (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at the Waters House. We enjoyed speaking with the owners of the property and they were very welcoming and accommodating to us and our 10 month old son as well. There was always a highchair waiting for us at our table for breakfast, which was phenomenal. The house was rustic and beautiful. Great views from the top of the hill. None
- john (8/5): - Clean room
- Brandy (10/5): - This was by far my favorite place that we stayed in Ireland. A wonderful country experience. The spring in the lower level of the house is amazing and the views are superb. The food was also excellent. Thank you so much!
- rebecca (10/5): - Absolutely gorgeous eclectic property! Common areas were very unique and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding! Very comfortable bed. Safe and quiet. Hosts were so welcoming!
- Maite Gar (9/5): Leuke plek - Zeer leuk interieur
Rustige ligging
Lekker ontbijt
Vriendelijke mensen Betere matras
Dunne muren, je hoort de buren hoesten.
- Jürgen (8/5): -
- Alison (8/5): - The owners are very kind and friendly. Prepare a big Irish breakfast for you. Unique property.
- Rico B (10/5): -
Proprietari estremamente gentili e simpatici.
- Beth (10/5): Very welcoming and accommodating hosts, exceptional charming property, wonderful and generous breakf - The hosts were exceptionally welcoming and helpful - above and beyond. The ambience throughout this property is magical and so memorable. Wish we had more time to sit by the fire in one of the charming common rooms with a drink from the bar. Breakfast was heavenly - and also very generous. They have created such a welcome and cozy feeling, you just want to stay in and soak it all up. Our group had 3 bedrooms, all were very comfortable and full of character.
- Bryan W Reeves (10/5): Charming and delightful home right at the foot of a burren mountain. - Absolutely loved this adorable charming bed and breakfast. Owners Wolfgang and Maria were delightful and so helpful all the way through. The WiFi was pretty bad. If I’d have needed it for work I would have been in trouble.
- Caitlyn (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely stay and such a quaint place with yummy Irish breakfast and great shower! Highly suggest it if you’re in the area.
- Timothy (10/5): - Wonderful place tucked away in the countryside on a quick trip to the Cliffs. Excellent breakfast and nice accommodations. Our first trip to Ireland. We will be back. Maria was a wonderful host.
- Dylan (10/5): - Brilliant hospitality making you feel very welcome.
- Russell (10/5): Wonderful Oasis - The Water Country House was the perfect retreat. We were only there for one night, but the hosts and lodgings were wonderful. The hotel is exquisitely sited into the hillside, taking full advantage of the views and the natural surroundings. We have already recommended it to friends traveling to the area next year. We hope to return in the future, next time for a longer visit.
- Colin (10/5): - It was a lovely property. The inside had lots of character. The breakfast was very nice and bountiful. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
- Gretchen (9/5): - The owners are very kind. The property is built into a hillside with an artesian well running directly through it. The common sitting area for evening was fun. The road is a narrow one-lane Irish road. It's good we arrived in daylight.
- Julie (10/5): Perfect stay with Wolfgang. - Extraordinary set of buildings featuring reclaimed antique elements. Just stunning with a walled interior garden, a spring house integrated into the building. Wonderful hosts. Two comfortable sitting rooms with fires lit in the evening. Library, games. The breakfast was outstanding too! Just 7 minutes from Ballyvaughan, and you pass a castle on the way. Absolutely nothing.
- Johnny (10/5): - We only had a quick stop at the Waters House, but from what we experienced it was a very nice place, with very friendly hosts. Breakfast was very good.
- Nader (2/5): - This hotel is absolutely nothing at all like it is advertised. It is truly in the middle of nowhere, there is no wifi or cell service on most areas of the property, and the hotel staff (apart from the nice man at breakfast) is unhelpful and quite cold. Would not recommend staying here unless you have little to no plans to travel around the area, as it is not located centrally to anything, and is quite uncomfortable at night.
- Erin (10/5): Charming! - The Waters Country House is lovely! Clean, comfortable rooms, cozy public spaces, and beautifully decorated throughout the building. We especially enjoyed sitting by the fire in the library on a rainy evening. The owners and staff were so kind. We appreciated their welcoming hospitality. And the breakfast was one of the best we’ve had anywhere. Perfect!
- Uwe (10/5): -
- Nicky (9/5): -
- David (10/5): - It is a little off of the beaten path, but that was exactly what we were looking for. Wilhelm, one of the owners, personally greeted us and gave us a tour of the grounds and showed us to our rooms. He also welcomed us to breakfast, took our orders and delivered our food. He is very proud of his establishment! It is close to several tourist attractions (Poulnabrone Dolmen, Ailwee Caves and Newtown Castle).
- Randy (10/5): - Very nice place! Mr. Wolfgang is a great host. The facilities are warm and inviting. Breakfast is very good.
- David (10/5): - Wolfgang met us and gave us a tour of the property. Lovely quiet rooms and common areas.
- martin (9/5): -
- Philippe (9/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): - The room was spacious and clean and the stuff was lovely. A short, but wonderful stay. Will stay there again if ever in the area
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This was a nice, relaxing and quiet stay for us on our road trip around the coastline of Ireland. The location in the countryside was nice and peaceful, but also close to town. We enjoyed the cozy fire room for a family game night while there. We’d highly recommend this place!
- Carl (9/5): -
- Mary (10/5): Warm, welcoming, well run fun place in a gorgeous setting. You could not do better! - Although it is a little off the beaten track it is a real gem! Interesting and beautiful in its appointments, large comfortable room, self serve bar on the honor system, with the ever affable and interesting host, Wolfgang. Delicious breakfast too! I could spend a long time here, I think, although we had only one night. Nothing
- Jane (10/5): I just LOVED this place - I LOVED this place and could happily have spent days here holed up in the cosy bar in front of the open fire. The decor. The use of colours and so much more. Fabulous breakfast too. And the hosts Wolfgang and Maria were so welcoming and friendly Nothing
- Harley (10/5): - Amazing historic buildings with quiet charm and gracious hosts. Highly recommended!
- Annabelle (10/5): -
- Alain (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): - Beautiful country setting and great lounge with fireplace. The ambiance is quite special. Both an extensive buffet breakfast and hot breakfast is available to you. The host is gracious and welcoming.
- Catherine (10/5): - I loved this place. So quirky and atmospheric. It was hard to believe it was a new build. Hosts were welcoming. Breakfast was great. Enjoyed the honesty bar. The peace of the Waters pervaded everything. Nothing
- Adam (5/5): Disappointing - Not bad, but not good either. We were met at the door by a stern hostess with a clipboard and were shown around the house. I'm sure the hosts wanted a cosy look for the interior with a grand feel and antique furniture, but in reality it just looks dark and old. The rooms have little light, the bathroom looks dated, the public rooms are just stuffed with old things. The bedrooms have no modern features for travellers: no TV, no mini fridge, no information of the area. The double bed was very comfy. The single bed was not. Breakfast was good. Wolfgang was charming and the staff were hard working. The price was high. We didn't feel it was good value for our money. If the hosts are reading this: Light up the bedrooms and bathrooms, leave a leaflet in the rooms with information about yourselves and the history of the house. Chocolates on the pillows and a smile at reception would go a long way.
- Cyra (10/5): Wir kommen gerne wieder.
- Ciara (8/5): - Unique and friendly property
- OlafZ (8/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): Nice property - The hosts were very nice and helpful. The view from the windows was lovely. It’s an unusual property with a spring. Breakfast was good. Our room, in one of the cottages was large, but very dark. The bathroom was small and needed some updating. We had problems with the Wi-Fi, but the host worked to get it working. Talking to some other guests, I understand rooms in the main building were nicer and newer.
