- Hayley (1/5): Appalling - Absolutely nothing I just wanted to let you know that our TV isn't connected to the network so can't watch tv The room has a horrible smell to it There are ants everywhere The shower had not been cleaned we found pubic hair and there is no hot water for showering. ( they ran out of gas) There are no cutlery to use for having toast The glassware in the cupboard is dirty and the kettle was full of ants When we arrived we were shown to our room and not informed of anything that's available within the retreat. Reading the reviews I see there is a community kitchen a spa we can use ? Is this correct? Very disappointed to say the least

- Sofia (10/5): A place to disconnect from city and reconnect with nature and wellness - This is a fantastic place to go to disconnect. The hosts are responsive, kind and accommodating. The place is only 2 years old and very nicely designed. I appreciate the little touches, such a bookshelves filled with wellness books, the wallabies and just gorgeous backdrop and views. There is also a spacious communal kitchen and sitting area. The breakfast was basic continental but everything was fresh and local produce. I think this great for a romantic getaway or with a group! I can't fault this place, it is a retreat and it's very reasonably priced. We elected to walk along the rail trail into town for dinner at the Axedale Tavern, it was a 50mins walk that we really enjoyed on mostly flat track and only a 4min drive from the resort if you prefer to drive. There is also a national park to explore.

- Faye (5/5): I was very happy to have a clean and comfortable room and bathroom as the rest of it was not for me. - The room and bathroom were very nice, clean and comfortable. The Gardens and setting was well maintained. The sky was beautiful with all the shining stars on a very clear night. It was however, scary to be in the middle of nowhere, felt very isolated, but then again this could be the appeal for many others. Thank goodness I was with my colleague, it's not a place to visit on your own. The kitchen was okay but not appealing. The Pantry was very off putting and very disorganised and I wouldn't eat anything out of it. There was fresh sliced white bread available for toast, but as I said the kitchen wasn't something I felt comfortable to use. Plastic kitchen chairs again very uncomfortable and cheap looking. The lounge area had couches with big stains and was dirty. I wouldn't call this a retreat; it was more suitable for a Group of young people to stay with their mates. Also not sure why all the empty shelving around the kitchen/lounge?

We were told to be mindful of noise as there were people in the rooms. Bit hard in a kitchen when you have to get plates and things out of the cupboards. Looked for something to put on toast and three of the four jars of jam were almost empty, hardly enough to spread on toast. The other jar had a small amount in it. One milk was over a week past the useby date. The gentleman explained what to do if we wanted to use the spa. We thought the hosts might have set it up for guests to use.

- Brenda (10/5): - The host Sarah was more than accommodating. We stayed in a lovely cabin with views of the surrounds, kangaroos grazing as the sun started to leave us. Everything in the way of breakfast was provided for us to help ourselves. Main kitchen well stocked and there was also a huge spa. It was lovely and relaxing and exceptionally quiet just as we liked after a long drive. Thank you very much Sarah, the cabin was cozy and comfortable and just what we were looking for. Recommend a stay out here for sure, especially take a few friends and enjoy some time around the fire pit of an evening and relax

Kangaroos hopping around. We had the place to ourselfes, being off season. Shame we only had one night. Could easily sit around outside, have tea and look at the landscape. nothing to complain. But would have been easier just to leave a note somewhere about what to do, if someone shows up outside business hours

Lighting outside was poor, Disabled parking was occupied by a non disabled person which made it difficult to get the bags to the room. Probably could of supplied an umbrella as the kitchen was a little walk from the room to this facility & it was raining. Breakfast cereal was not in sealed container it was open in the box on the bench & unknow for how long!

- michelle (6/5): Good value for the price, but not flash - As this is budget accommodation what you get for the price is reasonable, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying there again, but don't expect anything flash based on the "Retreat & Day Spa" name. We stayed in a room that was attached to the common lounge and kitchen. This wasn't something we were expecting as the room description didn't mention it. It has its pros and cons. Pro is you are close to kitchen for coffee and any cooking you want to do. Con is that others use the lounge area which is right outside your door, and they can be very noisy. The location was great, halfway between Heathcote and Bendigo. Some small things that could be improved 1. the kitchen tea towels were not absorbant and were not changed for the 3 days we were there 2. the kitchen fridge has the door on backward for the space, switching this to open the other way would make a HUGE difference it the ability to use it 3. brecky options were very basic. Bread for toast, butter and small amount of strawberry jam. no other spreads available. Strawberry jam ran out and was never replaced. 2 cereal options which were very basic. 4. spa tub was basically not useable. The water was too low (at least 10 cm below the minimum mark), and the temperature was too cold. I am guessing it was set at 39-40 degrees, whereas most spa's start at 42-44 degrees. 5. rooms only came with 1 towel each and we had to ask for more towels to use with the spa. Rooms should come with 2 each to cater for this without asking.
- Ian (6/5): - I arrived late about 6.25pm, and had been told my room was number 1 off the kitchen/lounge area, and to make myself at home. I went out to a meeting and got back about 9.30pm. My room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental and serve yourself. This was disappointing - I had breakfast of toast and honey which was all I could find. I do not eat wheeties! I left the property at 9.45am, and did not see or speak with anyone at all. I would not go back again.
- Dean (9/5): Beautiful, lovely reception by owners and great facilities. - The unit was beautiful comfy and the setting was excellent, location if you use this facility as a retreat excellent. For us though it was a stopover, therefore a bit out of the way. We are from Qld and as the reverse cycling AC was not turned on and when we got back at midnight the cabin was below freezing. Our mistake by not ensuring AC was on, but it's the only thing to complain about.

- Robyn (10/5): I'd definitely recommend this as a "Retreat" from the hussel/bussel of MEL & Work. I found ZEN The - The Aligning Retreat forefilled nearly all my tick boxes for a relaxed "time out". A very relaxing place to watch tge sun set & rise :-) I liked, no enjoyed being left to my own resourece. The bed was fabo, the room was clean & the communittee was very relaxing for we independent people to eat what, when & what time. The spar was very good temp wise but need step stools for those who are not gymnasts (I was once LOL) that now need assistance getting into above ground spa that is a high as my underarms. I would definitely say that the Aligning Retreat is for independent, thinkers who just want to "Zen Out"! Outside steps need hand rails as steps are all of different heights, trip/fall hazards! Also welcoming is non existent! :-(

- Alison (8/5): Lovely overnight stay , whilst driving through the area. - Quiet location. We didn’t see another person. Relaxing and cosy Nice touch with the hot spa .

- Kan (8/5): quiet and peace - very good set up. staff is friendly. the sign at the entrance is a bit small. if arrive in the dark probably can’t find the place.

- Jill (6/5): Well appointed comfy room but not much privacy. A bit pricey for what we got. - The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable, bathroom well appointed and spacious. The room was off a kitchenette that was open for all patrons to use. People came in early in the morning to have breakfast and made quite a lot of noise. They had not been told there where accomodation rooms off that area. The door into our room did not block out any noise at all. If we had known where the room was we would not have booked it, we felt like we had very little privacy.
