- Bufkino (7/5): - It's a charming, old hotel. The breakfast was good. The room was cold and the heat never started. I couldn't get the water in the shower to heat up past luke warm. A cold room and a mild shower were not the best start to my day. There are warning labels in the bathroom that the water is hot. I took those to be ironic.
- Matthew (8/5): Great for cyclists - Great bike store, nice big rooms, food in the bar hit the spot. Very friendly staff. Room a bit tired, food and drink a little on the pricey side. The resteraunt is next to a room where someone practicing the drums which was a little off putting.

- Jade (3/5): Moldy bathroom, overpriced for a room over a pub. - Staff were friendly, breakfast was good, good location in the town. Whilst we appreciate that this is an old building, the room was simply not in good condition and not updating furniture can't be excused by an old building. There was a strong smell of mold in the bathroom, which seeped into the bedroom even with the door closed. This was not helped by the bathroom window being sealed shut, nor the extractor fan working. The room was very dark, with paint patches on the walls where clearly touch up jobs had been done poorly. The furniture was very old (desk chair felt very like it may collapse, and the shower rail and curtain were way overdue being replaced). The whole place clearly was once lovely but hasn't seen a refresh in a long time. Not worth the price, there are much nicer rooms in pubs and B&Bs in the area.

Decent food and good beer mean it can be recommended, on the whole. Needs a bit of modernisation, but still comfortable enough. Room rates are a bit expensive but there’s not a lot of competition in the area.

The service and hospitality was unbelievable, needed a late checkout due to a funeral time, no problem. Thankyou. We had a meal there too. Food is fabulous. Can't fault it, but it depends if you like a very old world hotel.

- Maurice (6/5): Very interesting historical hotel desperately in need of a lot of renovation. - The location was very central in the town. Good free car park at rear of hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All the meals were of good quality and reasonable prices. Very interesting old building. The bedroom was very tired and shabby, the room was clean. Small single bed with very soft mattress, too soft so uncomfortable. Cracked tiles in the shower. Tiles and sealing in the shower require renewal. Damp areas coming through bathroom ceiling. Ivy growing through the bathroom window. Bedroom window rotten and sill falling off. Window view blocked by foliage and ivy. Two vertical heater vents just below the bedroom window so if the window was open the room filled with exhaust fumes PLEASE SORT THIS IMMEDIATELY! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. Some areas of the hotel were great but others were in various stages of disrepair.

The breakfast was excellent, my wife would have liked some fresh fruit. We liked the use of Welsh produce. The staff were very friendly and very professional. - Dianne (7/5): A bit disappointing considering the price. - Friendly staff. No problem that I needed to check in early. Good parking. Old building with lots of character. Good breakfast. Heating in the bedroom wasn't on and there were no instructions about how to put it on. In bathroom the extractor fan didn't appear to work and the cold tap on the bath produced only a trickle of water.
- Karin (9/5): Double room at The Wynnstay - Lovely, old hotel. Full of character. Our room (21) was large, with plenty of storage. It was serviced daily. The bathroom decor was dated but it was spotlessly clean. Secondary glazing on the old sash windows kept the room quiet and warm. There was a good choice of breakfasts. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The stair carpets were tired and worn which didn't give a good first impression but this didn't affect our stay. The shower in our room was not powerful enough - lots of hot water for the bath however. The TV was too small to be viewed from the bed.

Machynlleth is a delightful small town with excellent shops and beautiful countryside.

- VHeather (8/5): Friendly and comfortable - The communal areas of this hotel are lovely, friendly and welcoming staff and traditional decor, loved it. There was an issue with the electrics on the top floor when we stayed as the roof was leaking, so there was no lighting in the corridors. Unfortunately the lady who checked us in neglected to mention this. It was fine, these things happen, but a pre-emptive apology would have been better. Our room was on the top floor at the front and looked out over the high street but it was quiet. The decor was dated, but the room was huge, clean and very comfortable. I particularly liked that there was a blanket as well as a duvet as I often find duvets too warm. Breakfast was excellent and the service was great too. This is a huge old building that must be difficult and expensive to maintain, so it wasn't perfect, but the cleanliness and friendliness more than made up for that.

- Gordon (8/5): An enjoyable and memorable stay in a heritage hotel with lots of character. - Dinner on our first night went well and made us feel at home. Breakfast on our last morning was slow because a large group of residents were being served, and staff resources were stretched.
