- 580jonathann (10/5): Strategic stay in Puntarenas. - Nice place, in the live zone in Puntarenas. Near to many places to know, take some drinks and food. The hotel have live music and food food. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is perfect to take the ferry. You can take tje feery and have a 1 day tour in the gulf side.

Si bien devolvieron el monto y logré encontrar otro hospejade en el mismo día, la experiencia de mi viaje a Playa Puntarenas se vio afectada. También les recomiendo que consigan espacio para parqueo adicional pues el que tienen es muy pequeño e incómodo.

Staff was friendly and breakfast was very good. The pool seems to be the hi-lite of the hotel. Kids loved it. overall stay was ok. We didn’t venture outside the hotel.

- Bernard (10/5): - Nice modern place. Only about 25 rooms. Pool area is great but gets real busy on the weekends. Reasonably priced but bring money if you want to eat or drink there. A more affordable option is the beach plaza towards the lighthouse. Lots of food trucks and street vendors

- Gerardo (8/5): Great beds and food but needs some renovation - Overall the stay was great. Service was great. The food was really good. We booked one of the rooms with ocean view because it was a special occasion. The room was rather dated especially the bathroom. The shower area was really tiny. We didn’t use the jacuzzi but it looked like it was from the 70’s. The beds were amazing, really comfortable. During check in, we didn’t get any info about breakfast service hours and/or location, wifi info, check out time, which I would have expected from a place charging $177 per night. Overall I felt it was pricey from what we got so if we ever get back, we won’t be booking the sea view room. Location is great, very close to the lighthouse.

- Jeremy (6/5): - I had a terrible night's sleep as the beds are rock hard. This is NOT an exaggeration. I appreciate a firm bed BUT these beds were beyond firm to extremely uncomfortable. Aside from that, the room was clean and neat. The tv was old with no HDMI port available and NO Netflix or English speaking options. There is NO bolt or chain available on your door at night on the inside for extra security as is common for most ALL hotel rooms.

- jeremywye (6/5): Hard beds, needs updating but nice venue - The rooms were clean, beds were rock hard and difficult to sleep on. The TV was older, small and had no English speaking channels nor Netflix options. There was no chair. The restaurant is quite nicely positioned on the street corner so picks up a GREAT cool cross breeze. Nice to have drinks or dinner or sit by the pool and look across at the water. Dinner was reasonably priced. We split a Greek salad, a Tomahawk steak with drinks for around $60 USD.

La habitación es muy sencilla, tiene ventilador y aire acondicionado que funcionan bien, pero las camas estuvieron para morirse, deformes y sin soporte. Pero lo que afectó mi estancia es que en los pisos superiores, se escuchan las palomas y los gatos a todas horas danzando en el techo. En la madrugada es complicado. La piscina estuvo bien, todo alrededor de ella, está en "buenas condiciones". El restaurante no es el mejor, pero 7.5 de 10 lo calificaría. El dicho: Más vale malo conocido, que bueno por conocer... Aplicaría si paso por aquí en el futuro.

- Franck (6/5): ¿ un 3 estrellas? - No limpian cuarto ni cambian toallas hasta que uno se vaya. Para nosotros fuerón 4 días. Tuvimos que reclamar el cambio de toallas. Finalmente hacen las cosas pero no es automático. Hay que reclamar, varias veces.

It was already 9pm and we ran 10k on the beach we wanted to rest. I would not recommend this hotel at all. The room was terrible the toilet not working the bathroom bad. Terrible hotel.
- Alain (2/5): - L’emplacement est correct et la piscine ok. MAIS: pas de téléphone dans la chambre…. Il y a eu un party au bar de l’hôtel jusqu’à 3 h 15 du matin. J’ai dû aller avertir moi même les fetards très bruyants ( pas de téléphone) pour m’apercevoir que le veilleur de nuit de l’hôtel était avec eux!!! De plus quand nous sommes arrivés à 14h après 30 minutes de discussion avec le personnel qui ne voulait pas nou donner la chambre supérieure que nous avions choisie, le patron est venu lui-même nous affirmer que nous n’avions pas payé assez cher pour avoir la supérieure. L’enfer! Je vous ai déjà expliqué ça dans un message hier… la barrière fermant le parking est extrêmement difficile à ouvrir. Jamais une dame ne pourrait ouvrir ça et je n’ai jamais vu de préposé. L’air climatisé a mis 3 heures à rafraîchir la chambre….etc je ferai réclamation demain à mon retour au Canada Alain Larouche 27 avril 2023

There’s hard water in the shower floor, the shower head was dirty with no shampoo or soap in the dispenser. The hotel also generates a lot of noise due to an event room on the second floor until late at night.

Then another with a double bed (box and mattress on the floor). Walked away. Are trying to get a refund. Beware that what is on the website is not the reality.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Strategic location but be prepared - Well, we paid the family room but it didn't had: Microwave Coffeemaker Refrigerator Tea maker When we asked seems we were assigned a similar room and not the family room, so the gave us the microwave and coffeemaker but nothing else nor the actual room we paid. The person at the reception was not clear on what is listed here, I had to show them the website. While breakfast is included, is not a buffet, they gave all the same plates and were not happy to receive any change request (I asked to remove a few items from the plat, not to add), the last day I notice the folks at the kitchen were using the mask below their chins so we stopped eating there and had our final meal somewhere else. Pool was cleaned only Thursday and Friday, and they had the tool to make canals and separations in the pool but only used it the first day. There was a few times electricity when out, which leave us without water and air conditioner. Great personal, most of the people were happy to help or advice. The location is nice if you are looking to do a tour or go to the beach, I'll not recommend it just to spend the time there at least while covid is still a thing, If you go to a walk stay away of the lighthouse, we were asked by the police to stay away as they were trying to catch some scammers there

- 2adventurers2 (6/5): Old hotel located across from malecon. - This hotel is a prime location for the area, but it is dated. Rooms need updating. Not well insulated between rooms for noise. Protected parkimg available if early enough. We arrived on a Sunday on our drive back to San Jose. Malecon filled with families and food vendors. Nice to see families enjoying time together. Watched ferry disembark. Breakfast included and fine. Emplyees friendly.

Breakfast was included in the stay and it was horrible. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. If you are on a budget then yes otherwise go to Jaco it has better hotels & excellent food.
- Jackie (10/5): - The beach is right in front of the property! It also has a pool. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. The room was clean and we had no issues. At night, the property was quiet. A few blocks away there is the ferry that leaves daily from Puntarenas to Paquera. You can take your car or walk on to the ferry. Once in Paquera, you can go to places like Montezuma or the beaches!! We had an amazing time!

I also was concerned about safety through the night. No deadbolt on the door just a little chain. The room was clean, very basic.

The pool area is very busy and I couldn't figure out if it was guests or locals on like a day pass. The room was okay, it was clean and had air conditioning which really is all you need. The location is right across from the beach so that was a nice added benefit. I would stay at this hotel again.

- KellyM503 (10/5): Amazing breakfast buffets - We didn’t stay at the hotel but did eat breakfast there twice. Very fresh and hot and delicious. Everyone there was very friendly and helped us through our very bad Spanish. We would definitely say this is worth a visit for breakfast!
- pcochranak (4/5): There are worse places - This hotel was probably lovely at one time. However, it has not been well maintained, and it is in desperate need of deep cleaning. The tiled stairs are filthy, as is the tiled flooring around the pool and in the restaurant. The pool is dirty enough you cannot see your legs (eeuw!) There is a lot of junk sitting around the place outdoors. In the room, the beds were fair. The drain in the shower must not be vented before the septic, as there was a strong smell of urine, even with the shower window open. The handle on the shower was missing, and the plastic (quasi-see-through) showerhead was filled with gunk. The breakfast was OK. But the dinner food in the restaurant was expensive, overcooked and not much flavor (including the soup, chicken, rice, shrimp, and squid). Service was incredibly slow to take our orders, and very slow getting the food served. It's a real shame, as this place has great potential. It sits right across the street from the beach. The view from the dining area is beautiful. The pool design is nice. But, it all needs deep cleaned, and then regularly cleaned and maintained.
- Paul (10/5): You want to stay here. - This is the best hotel on the point to stay from our perspective. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good food options close by. Get a little busy on weekends with families and kids in the pool. But take the ferry ride over to the peninsula for time away from the commotion by the pool.

- PatrickM20 (2/5): How can this possibly be listed as 3 Stars? What a dump!!!! - As I say in the title, how on Earth does this place get 3 stars? As soon as the driver dropped me off I thought OH NO!!!!! The reception desk is the bar! It seems like this is a place locals take their kids to use the pool. They had a fuseball table and the pool in the courtyard and kids were HOWLING AND SCREAMING non-stop. There is no restaurant per se. just tables by the bar near the pool. I asked for a quiet room since I’d been traveling non-stop for 2 days. They gave me a room on the 3rd Floor. No elevator, stairway was nasty. A bucket of filthy water with a sponge in was on the first landing. Got to the room and opened the door. A immediately heard the traffic roaring on the street below. I could still hear the screams of the children echoing through the courtyard. I pulled back the sheets on the bed and their were hair and stains on the mattress under the flimsy sheets. The room was rustic to say the least. No telephone in the room. Extremely old, beat up, depressing room. I hauled my bags down the stairs, called the driver who just dropped me off and left ASAP.

- David (10/5): - Las Brisas was dope! Our room had cold A/C, a big bathroom with a hot walk-in shower, a comfortable bed for two and a beautiful view of the ocean. Breakfast was plentiful and had everything we could want. Not to mention their refreshing pool that with a cool waterfall feature that fed into it. The staff was more than great. Michelle, at the front desk, was awesome! She was very warm, friendly and easy to talk to. She helped us navigate the area, make plans and stay stocked with cold beer! They even hosted a big grade-school graduation party while we were there which was... bear with me here... pretty epic. We joined the train of people wearing masks marching downstairs where they had a drum band and people dressed up dancing with the guests. The went on and danced into the street and meanwhile they set off fireworks on the beach. It was fun and pretty cool that the people there welcomed us to join the party! The hotel is also just a two minute walk from the pier for the ferry to Paquera and other boats taking you to amazing places like Isla Tortuga (highly recommend it). It’s a short walk from great local restaurants (like Isla Coco’s), bars, clubs, and convenience stores. All in all I don’t think we could have picked a better place to stay In Puntarenas. We would definitely stay here again and sincerely believe anyone else would enjoy it as much as we did. Shout out to everyone there, especially Michelle, for making our stay there as amazing as it was.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not recommended - This hotel has seen its best days. The building and the furnishings are very outdated or even downright broken. We had to change the room because the lights did not work. The shower fittings in the second room were so broken that they barely worked. This is also the only hotel in Costa Rica where we stayed that was not clean - we all got bitten by something, maybe fleas?

- lara262018 (2/5): This was the most horrible hotel in my life. Very dangerous area, old stinky hotel don t go there. - I was scared of my life. The lady on the reception said don t park in front of the hotel it s too dangerous.The stairs to go to the room was broken, the pool and whirlpool were ugly, old and broken. Insect in the room everywhere, it was so dirty and stinks so bad. The pictures on the internet are probably from 10years ago. -the worst hotel ever. We were so afraid of this dangerous place i could not stay with my daughter and my mother. The ocean view was so ugly, nobody is on the beach, it is too dangerous. And also no tourist are there. We did not sleep there and want to complain about that. We payed for two nights and did not stay. We did not touch anything. And they did not want to give us the money back. We left and had to pay for this nightmare.
- Rick (6/5): - We enjoyed our three night stay. Breakfast was traditional Tico. :) Because we had to leave at 4am on our day of check out, the manager made sure coffee was ready at 3am! This is an older hotel but comfortable and has a hard working staff.
- 623stephaniep (10/5): Great stay! - We had a great stay at this hotel! We stayed for a night and loved everything. They had a restaurant, nice rooms with AC, pool, and super nice staff. Rooms were clean, with tv and different options to choose from. We paid $120 Total for 4 people with breakfast included which I feel was really good. Breakfast was amazing, lots to choose from. Definitely will stay again!

- Louie (10/5): Awesome Value! - This was a nice hotel. It had a great ocean view and right next to the beach. It was better priced than similar hotels, and the staff was really helpful. They have night staff who watches the front desk and keeps an eye on the gated parking lot. The breakfast was better than a continental breakfast, and had a good amount of options. I would stay here again.
- FredrikG160 (2/5): Insanely overpriced, low quality, ugly - We booked it as a night between travels from Nicoya to San Jose. We wanted something clean but not necessarily fancy. I guess we set the bar too high. The fact that the hotel looks completely worn down, is made of rickety and plastic materials and is obviusly designed by someone who scorns conventional estetics might be ok IF the price had been less than half what we payed and IF the rooms had been clean. Stay away.
- ROBERT (6/5): Las Brisas is ok--Puntarenas, not so much - The hotel is an oasis in a depressed area of the country. If you need to stay in Puntarenas, Las Brisas is a good choice. the city should be avoided.

- Chris (4/5): Good location and food, but overpriced and unclean - Had issues on checking in where they had trouble accessing expedia for proof I pre-paid. The room wasn't properly cleaned, dirty towels in the bathroom and sand all over making it an issue where I'd drag it with me to bed. The Wifi doesn't reach the rooms. Ended up paying 3 times the price of most places I stayed in Costa Rica for a mediocre beach view.
- Rioloko (10/5): Best hotel in quiet end of Puntarenas - Overall, we spent a pleasant day/night Hotel Las Brisas. The location is probably the best in the Puntarenas area, next to lighthouse and boats for Nicoya Peninsula and away from the louder parts of the strip. Ocean/water views were excellent! Our familia room had 3 full-sized beds and a balcony facing the water, very nice. Bathroom had a jacuzzi but don't know how long it would've taken to fill had we wanted to actually use it. Furnishings were average, nothing of luxury but everything served its purpose. TV had cable, AC worked but we preferred the sea breeze. Also, we used the fans as well. The pool was fun to dip in, kids really enjoyed it and property was well maintained from what I saw. Breakfast was buffet (included) and good, filling w/typical Costa Rican dishes, cereal, bread, and juices/coffee. Our only complaint was the regular menu from the resturante, rather pricy and quality was only average. We ate lunch there after checking in and no one seemed impressed w/her or his meal. The ceviche was probably the worst I've had and arroz con camarones (rice & shrimp) was plain. We had eaten at other restaurants in Puntarenas before, all with excellent food but Las Brisas was disappointing. Also, service was incredibly slow considering we were 1 of 2 tables for lunch! To sum up, I'd recommend Las Brisas to stay as a hotel, not for the restaurant. Also, one night was sufficient b/c there's much more to see in C.Rica than Puntarenas.

The downside: there is absolutely nothing to do both in the vicinity of the hotel and in the whole town. However, if you have to visit the town, this hotel is a great choice

- TamaraMarieS (10/5): Incredible hidden gem - I've been in Costa Rica for about 10 days. I've been staying with some local friends (and their families) across the country. Throughout my stay, I have done some "roughing it" as well as expensive all inclusives to give my body a break... As well as some A/C Las Brisas Hotel has been HANDS DOWN my favourite stay. (even though it was only one day) This is a smaller hotel which gives you a very personalized, charming and relaxed atmosphere. They have an outdoor dining area which let's you view the ocean, a cute pool area to lounge and cool off, and a small bar/reception area. The owner and the staff are incredibly welcoming and ensure you are comfortable. Without the outrages prices of resorts. If you're looking for a relaxing vibe, this is the place!
- RobertZ822 (10/5): Unknown Gem on Beach in Puntarenas, Costa Rica - I have been living in Costa Rica for 20 years and have never stayed in this area b/4 but was forced into it for 2 days and happened to find this nice hotel with 2 of my friends and was real happy about it. Rooms, price (considering weekend in Jan) and Food were great. Staff mostly spoke English and were friendly. Breakfast was included as normally happens in Costa Rica but was good. Which does not always happen. It was not perfect and was not 5 star or nothing but good solid hotel which did fine job. Rooms were fine and clean for Costa Rica.
- NOOSNOW (10/5): A last minute find but a great experience - We were staying in Monteverde and had planned an afternoon in Puntarenas as we travelled to San Jose but decided to see if we could find a place to stay in Puntarenas and have some extra time there. After a quick search we found this hotel at a very reasonable price so we thought we would give it a shot. The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. We spent some time on the beach and at the pool. Breakfast was great. A good selection of hot foods, cereals, breads and fruit. It seems that we need to adjust more to the evening lifestyle then we are used to for our next trip as the music and sounds from the bar were very lively. Unfortunately we were too tired that night to enjoy them. The area seemed to be more of a local beach getaway but I prefer that and love to travel and meet local people.
- 34joset (4/5): I went just for food - I used only the restaurant. It were only 4 people and it took around 40 minutes to get my food and it were 2 sandwiches. The staff was very nice and kind. The hotel looks very nice in average the restroom at the restaurant need some fixes. I consider the price is high for the food quality.
