Guest Reviews
- lyragaile (6/5): My lousy stay - It was just a spontaneous trip to Puerto Galera. We decided to find a money wise hostel for a weekend getaway, and surprisingly we found this hostel on Agoda. Booked a double bed. We arrived Saturday at extract 2PM, the standard check in time. I don't have any expectations at all. After all we just want a bed to crash after exploring the island. But you know, they need to keep up! Upon checking in, the receptionist told us that WIFI isn't working because of the typhoon (which is understandable). But they didn't update their Agoda about the wifi issue. Good thing we had mobile data. Secondly, the noises from the hallway were loudly hearing in our room (we just want a good sleep). Lastly, my stay wasn't very homie. Puerto Galera is an amazing place to relax especially it's just an hour away from the metro. But I will not stay here. Maybe I will try to find a better hostel for a better experience.
- Daydream530933 (2/5): too bad - booked in agoda, i saw all good reviews and good pictures, but really was too bad place to stay booked 5 nights and left to other hotel even they refused to refund, deluxe room, in 4th floor, all stairs, no cellphone signal or wifi, furniture and painting very old and broken, room too small jusst as bed size, no kettle to make coffee or tea, even drinking and eating not allowed in the room, at night you will use cellphone ledon stairs because they will off lights, not as pictures showing, all i see very good reviews in agoda and it’s lies, even my review not shown, bui checked it here in tripadvisor and saw the reviews telling the truth
- IRWIN (10/5): Too expensive for a basic room - Room was clean but very basic, no fridge, no kettle….. these 2 items are very essential for people who loves cold or hot drink without the need of getting out of the room. No hot water twice…. First episode was reported and fixed but did not last longer and no hot water again!!!
The bed is very comfortable, but the top sheet or kumot is so thin, not a good one for someone who love to sleep in a cold room.
5 star for the hotel staffs
- The_Travel_Man_37 (2/5): Do Not stay here - I stayed at the Dreamwave hotel in White Beach in Puerta Galera 13/9/2022 for 7 nights with my partner
To say I was disappointed is an understatement
I arrived to find the hotel is currently being refurbished and not as described in the pictures in Agoda.
I will list my complaints below that happened in the 7 days
I booked a deluxe room. The room had a king size bed in it. A TV unit and a TV and a bathroom. There was no space in the room other than to walk round the bed. No table or chair. No kettle. But more importantly no wardrobe to put ones clothes. The bed when I sat on it creaked and groaned like a 1930s spring bed would. The view out the window was of a building site
I went to reception to speak to the manager. I was told that was the room I had booked and is a normal deluxe room I mentioned about no wardrobe but they had no answer to that.
After several discussions back and forth I was offered another room but for only 6 days (I would have to revert to the original room for one night.)
OK let’s see the room I said and I was showed another room a VIP room four times as big
Back to reception I said I would accept that room she said it is another 9100 pesos (150 pounds) I argued that they had failed to supply me with what I had already paid for but they wouldn’t budge
So I reluctantly paid
We moved in to the room
These are the issues with this room
No wardrobe we lived 6 days out of suitcases
No hot water. They tried to fix but couldn’t I was offered another room to shower in but that lasted two days
No kettle till I asked for one
The microwave didn’t work
The shower floor leaked from the tray to the floor
The window was filthy and grimy
No hot water in the sink after two days
Water pressures in sink was poor
No sink plug
The bed was great as was the view through the dirty full-length windows
The hotel itself has been boarded off just behind reception and all the rooms being let are on the front of the building.
The front entrance has a space allocated to a tattoo artist here he lounges sprawled about sleeping in the day waiting for customers
The front entrance has roller shutters that come down at night
Breakfast included in the 9100. The menu only had small items on it and the value was between 150 and 250. If we had anything above 150 we had to pay the extra
On the first night / morning we were woken at 5.30 with someone on the building site behind the boarded corridors singing at the top of their voice. I mentioned this to reception but again it happened on night 2 and 5
On night 4, hotel guests singing loudly in the hallways and reception area, despite a night guard, it woke us up at 3am. I mention this to reception and asked why the guard hadn’t stopped this but they had no answer
The seating area on the balcony for smokers was filthy and the chairs were old paint splattered plastic garden chairs
The best for last
In the pictures in Agoda website shows and the description quotes tables and chairs on the beach to enjoy your food…. No tables and chairs on beach there’s a 10 foot esplanade in front of hotel
When we did sit at the front of the hotel at the tables we were constantly harassed by vendors selling their tat the hotel did nothing to discourage this. At times the massage women (between 3 and 6 women) sat on the front step of the hotel chatting
These words are directly form the Agoda page for this hotel
This 3-star property features restaurant to make your stay more indulgent and memorable.
NO RESTAURANT just your 150 peso breakfast that was appalling
If I had seen all of this prior to booking I wouldn’t have booked even one night
- thomas (4/5): bad experience - i have been at this hotel several times and has been good. But this one was not. It started by TWO (2) hotel clerks that were very unfriendly. Checked us in, no smile, not saying a word. i waited for a few minutes, just standing there, before i had to ask what I was waiting for. Thry said to clean the room. They coud have told me to wait a minute. Never offered WIGI, had to get it later. Didnt tell us about breakfast or anything about the hotel. REALLY sucked. This was Dec 19, 2019. Just a treminder, we were on the 4th floor, no elevator. No chairs for the beach like they normally do. The breakfast sucked. I had egg and toast, no brewed coffee. Egg was hard and toast was cold.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Old and poor facilities.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was ok, nothing to write home about. On the beach was the best thing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel is nice and very near to the beach, good location. The room is very clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The AC works okay...
The shower wasn't working well
- Arlo (2/5): Avoid it, not a pleasent stay at all. - 1) shower does not work properly.
2) electrical outlets shocked us the entire stay.
3) hotel loses electricity constantly.
4) bed is very very noisy.
5) there are NO iron & board in hotel.
6) wifi only in lobby.
7) very dirty, mold everywhere.
- fullmoonulit (2/5): Bad Dream Hotel or Nightmare Hotel - Me and 3 female friends stayed overnight in this hotel from May 4, 2019 to May 5, 2019. We were supposed to check in at noontime of May 4. We arrived at 4pm but our reserved room was not yet ready. We finally entered Room 212 at around 7pm. Towels were not ready. When we asked for it the staff gave us 4 damp, formerly-white-turned-yellowish towels. Toiletries were not provided - no soap, shampoo, toilet paper. Worse, the toilet seat cover was too old and stained. The shower was out of order, obviously unfixed for years. Wifi connection was only at the ground floor. And all these for P4,328.00 a day! Attention Hotel owner/Management: Shame on you! You should rename your hotel to Bad Dream Hotel or Nightmare Hotel!
- ohbree (2/5): An absolute disappointment - My family and I have booked 2 double delux rooms for 4 nights thru Agoda and we are 7 people in 4 double beds. We chose to stay in White Beach because it is the closest area to the recent music festival we have attended.
Our checked in was done smoothly, we were welcomed by their sweet staff and some refreshing drinks. But the horror started the moment we get in our rooms. It wasn’t the one shown in pictures when we were booking them. The rooms doesn’t have any windows! It is kinda stupid to stay in a beach hotel without windows. When you are inside the rooms it doesn’t feel like you’re on a beach holiday. It feels like you are in a cheap run down motel. If this is the look of their Delux room, I don’t even want to see their Standard room.
Another disappointment was the very poor cleanliness and hygiene inside the room. Their white bedsheets and blankets are not white anymore- they’re yellowish from over use. The blankets have holes, after 2 days we requested for room service but they gave us a blanket with bigger holes!!
I almost don’t want to touch anything in the toilets. Bidet hose, faucets and door knobs are too old and rusty. There is no shelves to put your toiletries so we put them on top of the toilet bowl tank. The proximity of the towel rack from the towel bowl is really bad. You will hit your head every time you rise up from sitting in the toilet bowl.
The only good thing about our stay in DreamWave is their staff. They are very nice and accommodating. Their breakfast meal are also good.
Would I stay in DreamWave again? NO
Would I recommend this accommodation?NO
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Accommodating staff
- tish0301 (8/5): Quick Getaway - Great location. Food is good. Service was a little slow but the island is known for it. The room was adequate however you could easily hear the noisy guests walking along the corridor. I’m not too happy with the bathroom however, for the amount I paid for my stay here, not going to complain about it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well located at white beach with a nice lobby restaurant with a great view of the beach
- trulymalakph (6/5): Good For Sleeping...Nothing More. - Good for a place to sleep only but nothing more.
ROOM: Is ok, good interior, small but you can hear the noise from the outside easily.
Even the guests walking along the corridors.
RATE: Is OK. Paid 1,700php per night with simple breakfast set for two.
LOCATION: very Good since its exactly beach front.
STAFFS: Are ok. Although some barely understands english which idk why since they are mostly dealing with tourists/foreign so its quite odd.
Over All its an OK stay but nothing special or to compliment though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great location , old building no fire evacuation systems ?
- Peter (4/5): Needs better management - Our room was dark, dingy and dirty. No view from the window because a concrete wall. The from office girl (Jean) was nice and arranged for a much better room at the front on the 2nd floor - but an additional cost. I was amazed at how run down and dirty the place was.
- Fabio (6/5): Mixed feelings. - I have mixed feelings about the hotel’s management of this property. It ‘s in a perfect location, just a step down onto White beach, a good cleaned stretch of beach, with plenty of decent local eateries, souveniers shopping and beach activities. The staffs are doing a find job, but on my 2 nights stay, housekeeping did not passed by my room, and some parts of the hotel need immediate renovation. The owners are responsible for that part, not the employees. That is poor management. This place can be a jewel if they wanted to be..The lobby is inviting with good strong WiFi, and a good “made to order” breakfast included with my room rate. The room was very basic, but was cleaned and organized on my 1st day, comfortable bed, quiet good night sleep on 3rd floor, hot shower, and air con did it’s job. I would still recommend to others for a good night sleep.
- Jurjin (2/5): - The rooms are never cleaned
- Jay (4/5): - We already came late, and we keep texting the staff about our reservation, so when we get there, everything will be all set but what happened was the other way around, the staff was not there then the room was not yet ready, the toilet bowl is not flushing well, the bidet is leaking, the water coming out from the heater is not enough to rinse soap on my body
- Christopher (4/5): - Needs repairs.
- Christopher (6/5): Good location - Great location right on White Beach. The rooms are in dire need of repair. The staff and lobby is nice.
- erinrH6956OE (8/5): awesome! - im glad i stayed at dreamwave! it was a great experience. very accessible to the beach! and the bed was so comfortable! defenitely coming back! hopefully i can get access to their wifi from inside the room next time😊. overall it was great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was comfortable and clean.
It was close to the beach.
It has its own security guard who stays overnight, so it was safe enough to stay.
I would recommend this place to my friends who might go to white beach.
- Lightning_jack (6/5): Great place to stay while in Puerto Galera - My cousins and I decided to have a weekend getaway in Puerto Galera. We decided to look for accommodation when we were there. We end up staying at Dreamwave Resort. We occupied one family room and one of their suite room. The resort has WIFI but it can only accessible in the lobby. Breakfast does not included to the room rates. It's a good spot since it's right in front of the beach. If you want a permanent or henna tattoo, they have a shop in front of the resort where you can have your tattoo.
- Verified traveler (6/5): They don't clean the roons - Are TV remote never worked the whole time we were there the rooms were not cleaned during are stay at all the aircon barely worked I was bitten by many bugs at night my hand is still swollen from a bug bight I received there two days ago I brought the TV remote problem up with the staff they did nothing about it
- dianer0sel (10/5): Beyond Expectation - We came here for our anniversary. With our deluxed room for two, I'm very impressed with our room. Very clean, cozy style, and with regards to that famous smelly bathroom and stinky water from the faucet and shower that i have read from the reviews, we didn't even encounter it. They even allow us to early check in without extra charged. Please keep it up. Will definitely return here! - Ahyani
- Diane (10/5): beyond expectation! - We came here for our anniversary. With our deluxed room for two, I'm very impressed with our room. - ramanan (10/5): Very nice hotel. Value for money & good location. - Friendly staffs. Clean rooms. Beach facing hotel. Great view & value for money.
- Jose Antonio (6/5): Good beachfront hotel - Very basic hotel. Small bathroom. Low water pressure. Power cuts out every now and then depending on how crowded the island is (not their fault though). The pluses? Accommodating staff and online booking. The convenience of online reservation and payment is worth it to me, so I’ll be back here in the future - I’m at the beach most of the time anyway.
- Ray_0178 (6/5): Great location but hotel needs a lot of maintenance - Dearmwave is beach front, so that's a big plus. However, getting there takes some muscles especially if you have loads of bags. There's no way of reaching the place other than by foot, and it takes about 200m to go there from the nearest pavement. Rooms were old, and you can see they aren't maintained very well (if at all). Lights were falling apart, paint is cracking from the walls, no balcony on the rooms, shower was so small you can't even hang wet swimming clothes in there. Once you enter the room, you just know it's old and not taken care of.
On the plus side, guests are just a stone's throw away from the beach where they have all water activities. Expect hagglers to be lurking around and trying to get every chance for a booking. If you're looking for beachfront and wouldn't care about sleeping conditions too much, this place is not a bad deal.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel front of the beach they have a big balcony that has a good view for sunset. The staff are accomodating. You will enjoy your stay.
- ialebyou (8/5): Very budget-friendly go-to place in White Beach, Puerto Galera - The staff are really nice and approachable. They accept walk-ins and let us see the rooms first. We got the Family Room. It has 3 queen-sized beds, AC, Private bath and toilet. No bathtub and wifi. There's only good wifi at the lobby. Complimentary breakfast is also provided by the hotel.
This is a good place to stay if you wanna take a break from all the party noises in Puerto Galera because they have their own acoustic nights. My friends and I stayed at the Veranda and just watched the stars that night.
- isaac (8/5): - Hotel needs lots of updates. Staff was excellent very accumadating. I was told hotel will go under renovation on July.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Toilet flush broke twice. No water heater. Bathroom floor level done wrong water cant get to the drain.
- Robert (8/5): Location Great Hotel tired - Great location, on the beach, White Beach is very nice, good sand and clear water. The hotel could do with some work in the rooms, showers are below average. The bed post came lose and fell out leaving only support of 3 legs I placed the lose one under to stabilize the bed. Service was also a little slow, waiting for breakfast menu etc. Mostly I walked to counter to get myself. The location is the reason to stay here.
- RG (2/5): Old, dirty and toilet is not working - As soon as we got in the hotel I noticed right away how old and poorly maintained the place was. Our room doesn't smell good at all, one of the stuff sprayed lysol to it to cover the smell. The bathroom was disgusting and the flush is not working. They moved us to another room where the flush is not working as well. On our first night, the cable was not working and there was no water. NO WATER! There was no wifi in the room too. Super waste of money! And btw, the kitchen was not working too. We tried to have lunch in that place but they said the kitchen is under maintenance.
- Ferdi (10/5): Great!! "Hotel Dream waves" - Dream Wave is a great hotel with a best location at the White Beach.
Very friendly and helpful Staff, very good breakfast.i extendet my stay 3 times.becauae it is a good hotal wirh perfect location.
- Jess (10/5): Nice hotel and beachfront - We had an awesome stay. Interior design of their lobby looks great. Service is good. Room and toilet is clean. Cold ac. Staff are very accomodating. i like their dining and they have outdoor dining too. There is an acoustic band on evenings.
- Angela (8/5): Fantastic Location - In the Center of White Beach - Fantastic location right on the beach; just step out of the lobby and your toes are in the sand. Room is a bit old, but I believe all hotels in the area are, and the bed was quite comfy and the place was clean, and the water was hot. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was made to order, and was tasty. One word of warning is that White Beach can be pretty loud until about 11pm or midnight – with live flame juggling type entertainment and loud music on the beach until then. You are right in the center of the beach here though, and can easily walk to anything / all restaurants.
- David (6/5): Breakfast really not included - Good service, but its not true that breakfast is included. When i checked out they wanted me to pay for coffee and pancakes from breakfast!?
- SejGirard (6/5): Good Place to stay on a Budget - We booked a Double Deluxe Room, the room had ample space and had the basics we needed for our stay. I hope they maintain and improve soonest as the location is at its best. Near restos and bars and is a beachfront property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): There are things need to improve - Pros: The hotel is by the beach, wide and comfy bed, the room is nicely painted and decorated, personnels are kind and considerate (the receptionist changed our assigned room when she learned that we are with an old person, which is really kind because my in-law have mobility issues).
Cons: Broken flush handle, yellowish toilet bowl, dusty/sandy floor, no floor mat in the bathroom so we can’t avoid wetting the entire room after every bathroom use, the main entrance closes before midnight and we had to find where we can enter (they have a small passage at the side of the building), the reception area closes at midnight as well and there’s no one to attend the guests except for the security guard on duty.
- rishiwise (6/5): New Year Break 2017 - Got a family room - decent price, bang on the beach - lots of food joints nearby. Can't say much of the service since we did not use their other services, but yes we did try their free breakfast - lots to improve on - example, the potatoes inside the Spanish omelet was raw - Day 1 & Day 2/ so my suggestion is you take the place for access to the beach but you can eat your food in the nearby joints - really good variety & caters to every taste bud. Rooms were clean, working aircon, hot water available in the bathrooms, towels provided and TV that had all the channels. So i would say my stay was overall good if you are looking for a budget hotel & nearby the beach
- Timothy (8/5): Perfect Puerto Galera Getaway - Pros: The hotel provided excellent customer service with friendly service staff and security. It is well-situated along white beach and just a 2 min walk from plenty of restaurants, bars and convenience stores.
Cons: Due to its proximity to the beach, the room was inevitably sandy. This may or may not affect some patrons.
- John (6/5): Close to beach but in desperate need of maintance - This could be a great hotel with some needed repairs. No elevator so I asked for room on first floor. My room was ok but bathroom was old. No separate shower. Open no shower doors or shower curtain. Hot water I had to keep hitting box to keep hot water. Shower sprayer broken. Sink leaked from underneath on floor. Bathroom just a total Disaster. Water brownish. Towels old and dingy. Dead roaches in hallway but none in room. I would NOT go back to this hotel or Puerto Galera.
- dreamzmerchant (4/5): Avoid superior room in this hotel (1500 per night), other rooms are expensive - We canceled our pre-booked hotel due to some mismanagement issues and came here and booked on the spot. Stayed here for overnight. Since we stayed during christmas, most of the staffs were on vacation so bad luck for us. Hotel allowed us to heat our food in microwave and stored food in fridge too.
We booked superior room but it was very small compared to the price. Restroom was very smelly and stinky.
*This hotel is located on far right from the dropping point of ferry on white beach*
- joyce (6/5): The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly - Id highly recommend dream wave.. ill be back dreamwave and puerto
- Maria Rubie R. (10/5): Awesome trip! - It was an amazing trip. My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 days and it's pretty awesome. The place is clean, staff are friendly. We will be back for sure!
- Frederick L (8/5): - Nice place right on the beach. Good service
- Derek (6/5): - online hotel posted about a gym and a pool table... once I arrived at hotel I found out that they had neither... quite disappointed!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom had good lighting. The staff were friendly. The commode smelled after flushing and the shower does not have a curtain/door to separate it from the other part of the bathroom. The rest of the hotel is in bad shape and dirty and smelly. They need to have more staff to keep the place clean, especially the hallways and restaurant. The good thing is, we spent more time on the beach than in the hotel and had a really good time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel staff are very nice and accomodating. Food ia good as well. The total experience is very good.
- rachel (10/5): awesome and stress free - it waa great. the staff were very accomodating. we arrived dinner time because there was a problem at the batangas pier but dreamwave let us extend our stay. it was just supposed to be an overnight stay but because of the staff, the location very near the beach and the clean room and comfy bed, we extended our stay for one more night. im definitely going back to dreamwave!
- KENNY (6/5): テラスからビーチが眺められる - ロケーションは抜群だが、ちょっとビーチ的にははずれにある。
シャワーが水だった。
従業員が新設だった。
朝食がうまかった。
- Dave (8/5): Great stay - It was a nice place on the beach. They help you rent scooters for the day only 500php/day. Theres more activities like island hopping and water fun. Parasail jet skis banana boats
- 480buffym (10/5): Great hotel with superb location! - AVOID THE CHEAPEST ROOMS in the hotel (PHP 1,500). They're OLD, STINKY and LACKS DECENT HOUSEKEEPING (ONE STAR FOR THAT!). I appreciate when the staff transferred me to a better room. I never expected the budget rooms to be that bad.
The new room was MUCH BETTER! CLEAN, DECENT, SPACIOUS! For a few hundreds of pesos, get the PHP 2,000 rooms. However, i hope management will ensure the decency of the cheapest rooms for the budget traveller. The cheap rooms
deserve some refurbished looks too.
Hotel has great location right in front of the beach. Parking is available at the back, around 5minute walk from the property.
I gave an excellent rating since the hotel managed to transfer me to a better room.
- Filipio2015 (8/5): Nice Beachfront Hotel in Puerto Galera - The hotel is located at the other side of the drop off area of the port. Its just a 10 min walk from there and you'll pass thru different restaurants and see the water activities which is nice. You'll be greeted by good and attentive staff of the hotel when you arrive at their small lobby area.
The ground floor of the hotel is nice since it has open activities for you already such as getting a tattoo and a good view of the beach from their dining area. You just basically need to leave you bags at the room and jump right at the beach since its really in front of you.
Got a room good for 2 persons which okay and has enough space for your luggage. The CR is well equipped with bidet and shower (hot water is defective, but you wont be needing it anyway) but is a bit cramped (if your wide or big, you might not fit well in this kind of space) but overall room is quite good.
Nightlife at the hotel is also good with a full bar experience, band and fire dancers in the late evening. Food is average but you can choose other restaurants around the area. You can also walk freely by the beach when you step out the hotel.
Overall value for money hotel with a nice beach front if you are making a trip to Puerto Galera. :)
- Galih_Wanggono (8/5): Good Location, Affordable Price - Location is good enough, front of the white beach and the swimming area. Its a bit far from where the ferry landed. I'm not sure for the restaurant, we didn't eat there and we opt no breakfast, since we just want to eat outside. We booked online, and got deluxe type with affordable price. Room just OK, Bathroom side also not bad, but the cleanliness, we have sands when we stepping on it. The lobby and hallway is a bit dark. We had 'welcome drink' when we wait for our room in the lobby, this is nice. The staff also quite helpful. All in all, the service is acceptable, the location is good enough, the price is worth it, and that's it. Please do search another hotel if you look for luxury, otherwise we recommend to stay at this hotel kind of affordable budget hotel, just don't expect much.
- 653maer (8/5): Beach Front Hotel - It was a great vacay in Puerto Galera and one reason is because of our stay in this hotel. we love our room. We reserved our room thru travelbook so we got it in a low price which is a good thing. We love our stay there though the foods in the resto are limited. But i love the pusit. ahaha. I think its adobo pusit, I dont know but i like the taste. My bf loves it too. Over all we enjoyed our stay in DW hotel. If ever we'll go back to Puerto we'll definitely stay again in DW.
- Adric2007 (8/5): recommended - this place was a pleasant surprise..we arrived White Beach past 6pm and had no reservations.good thing we didnt mind the agents along the way pushing us to book with them..from the drop-off point at the northest point, we just walk and walk until we reched the southern tip of the island at Summer Connection, the reception was busy with a group of singaporeans so wo left and walk back where we chanced upon Dreamwave..the rooms have a quaint european feel, with all the paintings, lamps, and wall colors..what i love most are the beds which are real bed mattress, and not just a wood frame and a foam as in most places which gives an appartelle kind of vibe like Mindorinne Hotel...check out my photos on this..and it got flatscreen tv with cable carrying a good deal of channel selection..the room is well configured with a separate toilet and bath with lavatory space at the middle..maybe except for the position of the tv at the side corner, evrything is perfectly nice..btw we got the family room at the far end..it has windows but not ocean view..also, wifi is only at reception/dining area at ground floor.
