Though it was just across from the river, the levy bank obscured any water view from ground floor and outside area. We didn’t walk upstairs to could you see it from there.

• Corinne (2/5): Great location, affordable price and great facilities. - I loved the location, it had a really nice bathroom, kitchen facilities and easy process to check in and access our room. The room was spacious for the 5 of us, with a tv to keep the kids busy while we packed and unpacked. We used the motel mainly to sleep after our long days out and about. We were able to come back during the afternoon to use the pool which was an added bonus. We don’t have an EV but if we did, we could have charged our car there as well which was a great feature. I am used to a really firm mattress to sleep on rather than a soft one and I’m a really light sleeper so I should have brought ear plugs because I could hear through the walls to next door and all of the outside noise. Knowing this, I would re book with you again but I would pack ear plugs.

• Col (10/5): Very comfortable and clean, we'd happily stay again. - Very clean, spacious room, plenty of power points and bench space. Older rooms but nicely renovated and two armchairs to sit in were very welcome, rather than just on the bed. Located directly across from the Clarence River and a walk or short drive to the local Spa or IGA. Friendly owners who seem proud of their motel and rightly so as they've done a great job. Maclean is one of our favourite little towns, steeped in Scottish history. Fun to find our family tartans on the poles and the views from the lookout and mosaic bench are stunning. Needs castor cups under the bed to stop it runnning away each time you sit on it. Parking is not designated to a particular room so it becomes a bit of a free-for-all, first in best dressed. I'd prefer the bays to be allocated and numbered.

• Anton (7/5): Good overnight stay with friendly owner - I think it’s a perfect spot for spending the night. Close to the freeway and Yamba and other lovely spots. The owner was fantastic and very helpful, sharing some spots worth visiting. I think that with some minor renovations and maybe a bit better sound-proofing, the Waterview motel could become exceptional (also with the very friendly owner which is putting the guest first). Even just the small detail of writing the name in the door is a star gesture. Keep doing what you’re doing! It was a bit poor sound-isolated, getting a lot of traffic noise through (especially when people were leaving in the morning)

Can walk to The Argyle or The Club. Water View means ‘just’ if you’re on top floor verandah, lol. Levi bank now blocks the view it probably once had 😄 but won’t be flooded. Not a big deal.

Basin in bathroom had cracks in enamel. Mugs cracked and discoloured. Not enough toilet paper, tea, sugar etc. Hand soap containers found in cupboard under sink were empty.

Value for money Our room was at the front of the building and upstairs, so a little noisy from passing traffic. Main disappointment was the lack of blackout curtains, outside lighting illuminated the room.

• James (5/5): Comfy bed, but a little more maintenance, and cleaning care needed. - The bed was comfortable and the room was fairly clean. Like room 1 where we stayed on the way down south, Room 5 airconditioning filter was full of dust and lint as well. This causes bad health issues and inefficiency, and extra cost to the electricity bill for the owners. When we walked in, the toilet was running continuously due to faulty push buttons on the flushing (Room 5). The buttons have to be pushed a few times to stop the water. No bath mat in the room. Room 5 AC Filter was dirty as well. Cleaned them myself. The Manager was advised about the filters need cleaning regularly.
